The bed was ungodly soft… cool quilts, thick, fluffy pillows, and soft drapes to block the light from the nearby balcony. The issue was, sadly, that it was not mine. My bed was a little coarser, a lot smaller, and with far fewer pillows. Bolting upright, almost holding my breath, the room around me was… strange. Soft blue tile, interspersed with darker swirls in leaflike patterns. Ornate furniture, in dark, cool colors. The gentle scent of lavender and fresh air, filtering from the balcony…
Pulling from the bed, parting the curtains, I saw it was a magnificently grand piece of woodwork, a frame in the shape of a crescent moon, polished and hung with the glittering dark curtains to block the soft bed inside from outside view. Walking to the balcony, opposite the door, I seemed to sit at the peak of a grand mountain, the gentle sloping hills and forests below stretching out for miles and miles…
The skies above were a glittering indigo-violet, a veritable ocean of stars twinkling and shining brightly in concert with the massive, beautiful full moon…
This was a view I had seen before, though far more grand than it should have been. It was eerily reminiscent, if not entirely a duplicate of, the skies and landscapes from a cartoon I had thoroughly enjoyed through my life. My little pony was it’s name, and given that this blue and beautiful room was clearly in canterlot castle (and if the moon-bed is accurate), this would be Princess Luna’s Bedroom.
This really didn’t sit… right. It was fiction made real, an impossible view set before me rolling through a perfect night. A clock chimed six in the distance, and I wandered to the door. My hand paused on the ornate silver handle, nervousness squirming in my stomach. What would I say? How would I explain, to literal royal guardsmen, that I wasn’t some sort of hostile interloper or invader, especially when I'm in the bloody “princess of the night’s” bedroom, without her present. What would I even do? No, no. I can’t leave the room, I've no idea what would even happen.
So… what now? Now I suppose I'll just… sit and wait. Morning’ll come at some point and… wait. No, no it won’t. Princess Luna sets the moon, if she’s not here, then the night won’t ever end. Well, now, hold on, I don’t know for sure that she’s not here. She’s nocturnal, right? It’s night out, she’s probably out and about and doing… something. If I wait long enough, she’s liable to return, and I can explain myself. So long as I don't touch anything, really, I should be fine.
So I wait.
I wait in this gorgeous room, the clock ticking. Five minutes, ten, fifteen… It’s rather pretty in here, honestly. Not a bad place to wait anxiously for the Sword of Damocles to drop.
Knock, Knock, Knock.
Paralysis. I can’t move, my breath is lodged in my throat, and my eyes are practically the size of dinner plates as I'm staring at the door. In spite of myself, I move to a bright spot in the center, sitting on my knees, waiting.
“Sister, is everything alright? It’s practically morning, and you’ve yet to lower the moon. Are you okay in there?”
Princess Celestia. Diarch of the sun. My tongue is tied, and I can do nothing but stare as the door handle slowly turns, And she strides into the room, concern on her face morphing into surprise and confusion as she sees me, the door softly clicking shut behind her.
“Who… Where is… What?”
Finding my voice, I tried to put words to the million jumbled and strange thoughts flitting through my mind as sand through an hourglass.
“I don’t know how I got here. I know I'm not supposed to be here. I don’t know where she is… Please, help.”
Concern, surprise, and confusion flitted about her face in varying degrees, a kaleidoscope of hard indecision. She tilted her head, her eyes searching mine for something. Eventually she settled back on her haunches, still eyeing me quizzically.
“What should I call you?”
I stammer a moment, squeaking out a response.
“A-Angel, your highness.”
“Angel. Odd name, but I digress. What happened, if you can tell me?”
“I-I woke up here, and just… waited. I promise, I haven't touched anything… t-that I know of!”
“Calm yourself, Angel. As of yet, you’ve done nothing warranting such fears. You mentioned ‘she’ earlier, I take it you know who this room belongs to?”
“P-Princess Luna. Diarch of the moon, and various epithets besides. What I don't know is how I… ended up here. I went to bed last night in my home and woke up… Here.”
“Mhm. I can tell you’re not lying. You’ve truly… no idea. Come, dear, you look awful, let’s get you cleaned up a bit.”
She gently stood me up, guiding me to a Vanity against a far wall. My hair was disheveled, eyes a touch baggy… My, I really did look awful. The vanity was littered with a dozen different products, mascaras and brushes and whatnot… mostly unused.
“Now dear, let’s do something about that hair of yours. Sister never uses these, I'm sure she won’t mind…”
I was enraptured by the sight of a golden glow enveloping a brush and it settling in my hair, magic tingling across it as it’s drawn down…
I’ve brushed my hair before, the sensation shouldn’t have been anything new, but something about either the way the princess does it, or the magic holding the brush… It felt so incredibly relaxing, my eyes just drifted shut…
“Oh! That- That’s not what I expected… Um.”
Blinking my eyes open, I stared at my reflection in the mirror… the brush paused halfway through my hair, brown below it… and blue above it.
“Um… These aren’t enchanted, perchance?”
“Odd way to phrase it but… no. They’re really… not? Um… Did you happen to feel anything strange while that was… happening?”
“It felt… Good. soft, and… relaxing. Almost the same as getting my hair brushed normally, mind you, just… cathartic, really...”
“Hm. I wonder if…”
With a moment’s hesitation, she continues brushing my.. Well, mane I suppose now. It’s unbelievably soft, it feels almost like silk with how the brush sifts through it, soft and sweet and… mmmnn…
“That’s… Rather nice… “
“I had thought as much… relax dear, let yourself drift…”
I felt brush drift, changing for a new tool that glided against my back, my shirt having been somehow removed along the way with a pop. it was so soft, leaving a warm, fluffy train wherever it touched, like the weight of a blanket… I felt myself shiver, and groan a little from the feeling…
“Hehe, enjoying ourselves, dear? A change like this must be so luxurious…”
“Mnnngh… A change like… Wh… nnm…”
I open my eyes, seeing my normally tan skin mottled with swirls and swathes of deep blue fur, soft and fuzzy, all across my back and reaching up my arms, my mane of shifting blue gently flowing through it…
I was beautiful.
“I… this… Please. Keep going…”
My voice comes strange now, breaking and peaking in rough tones, torn between one and another… a dissonant song. Celestia’s ministrations continue, Soft and glorious, trailing deep blue fur over my form, softly twirling about my arms, leg, neck and face…
My eyes, normally azure tinted with grey and brown, shine a deep midnight blue.
Deep blue fur, a proper coat, covers my body. I move from the mirror to the balcony, Gazing headlong into the moon… my… moon? I can feel it, singing to me…
I gently sink to my knees, cosmic orchestra above rising to a fever pitch. I can feel Tia dear behind me, concern radiating from her as the sun she commands, but I acknowledge her not. I brush my hand over my chest, thick with soft fur, warm against the cool night air… and I feel magic itself welling inside.
I fall to my knees, twitching and moaning as perfect, soft, massive feathery wings rip fully-formed from my back, groaning in the pleasure of changing, the pleasure of becoming! Legs distend and shift like the warmth of a thousand massages, pulling, straining, bending into proper shape.
My feet, strange plantigrade protrusions and all, shift and pull and harden into firm, soft hooves, hands quickly following suit as my arms and neck lengthen, tail beginning to form and swaying like a glittering nebula in the wind…
I feel my muzzle lengthen, the rush of new scents and easier breath coming as a brilliant relief to my altitude-strained lungs, the taste of rain and wind on my tongue…
My skull shifts, a blaze of new sensation and rushing magic coalescing in a spiraling, swirling horn, stretching outwards with the grand catharsis of a deep breath…
I cannot help but laugh profusely, a sound like chiming glass and ringing bells, spreading my wings and feeling the air rush by.
Alighting my horn, I gently respond to the moon’s song, an echo of magic replying in chorus, singing with it as I gently lower it beyond the horizon.
A warm tingling feeling spreads throughout my form as blotches of black fur appear on my rear, sporting my familiar crescent moon…
“Sister dear, I do believe I'm feeling much better now. Thank you, for your assistance.”
“Sister, what the buck.”
