Keeper of Life - NaPoWrMo Entry

The story of two characters, Solar, guardian of The Tree, and Coal who would see it fall.

Sometimes not everything is as it seems.
Coal, a ruthless changeling, takes a elite force into the desert in order to reach The City, the only true city left. Her goal is simple, destroy The Tree, the only force keeping the harsh and poisonous desert at bay. If The Tree falls, so shall The City.

Solar isn't a guardian yet, but she's trained her whole life and she'll need everything it takes to stand against the shadows that creep into The City. It's a much darker world then she would have believed. What is worth saving and does the ends truly justify the means?
