The Estrus Alleviation Initiative

Every year, the mares of Equestria went through one of the most excruciating things they could possibly experience, the only thing ponies thought was more painful was giving birth. Every year during the spring, every last mare in the whole country went into a crippling heat.

The heat season was a troubling time for mares because the heat stopped them from performing daily tasks, if they tried to go about their business, they'd get too distracted and end up sexually assaulting the nearest stallion... which is why the E.A.I had been created.

The E.A.I or Estrus Alleviation Initiative worked on a simple principle, when the heat season began, all the mares would stay in their homes and every available stallion would be selected and paired with a mare to satiate their needs until the end of the season. The initiative was surprisingly successful, every year there were stories of how two ponies had found each other so compatible that they'd get into a relationship, inevitably there were also stories of dumb mares and stallions who failed to use protection and ended up having a foal.

Some of the most uncomfortable stories came from situations where out of control mares had ended up sleeping with a friend or family member out of desperation to end their heat, or the unfortunate circumstances in which gay stallions had been attacked and forced to copulate, it was because of situations like these that the initiative was introduced.

One year, a stallion had begrudgingly become the unwilling boyfriend of a certain pink mare...
