A mysterious break-in, a time crunch and a box of stolen goods. Sounds like a case for Detective Pinkie Pie!

Story idea by: Tipper, Today’s Idiotic Plot Concept #31Spike has been doing some help for Pinkie Pie lately. And as a thank-you, she’s baked him a treat: a half-dozen gem-laced cupcakes. There’s red velvet ruby, blueberry sapphire, and emerald chocolate-chip.
Or at least, there were. She was only distracted in Sugarcube Corner for an instant, but when she turned around, Spike’s box was gone, and another box of ordinary cupcakes was in its place.
It’s a disaster! Those were her special treat to Spike, they were his thank-you, she worked extra-hard on them, she wanted to see his reaction to the different flavors! Also there’s a slight risk they’ll tear up the insides of any pony who eats them. But mostly the other stuff!
Well, no matter. Detective Pinkie is going to track down this pastry switcheroo and solve the issue! Hopefully before any teeth are broken.
Who Did-Done-Do It?
Red velvet ruby? Check. Blueberry sapphire? Check. Emerald chocolate-chip? Check and check.
Slowly, Pinkie Pie set down the cupcakes, two of each flavor, into the hoof-painted box. Then, with the utmost care, she tied the box up with a lovely green ribbon. For the final touch, she slipped in the card that said, ‘To my good friend Spike. With love, Pinkie.’
Spike is going to love these! Pinkie thought as she placed the cupcake box on the counter. She turned around to get some glitter to decorate the box with. As Pinkie as rummaging through her cabinet, she heard a loud noise coming from the front. She quickly turned around and saw...
No-one.
Huh. Weird. Pinkie was certain no-one came in, but she went over to the box just to be sure. The cupcake box looked the same as it was before. Pinkie carefully untied the ribbon and looked inside. Everything seems normal... Wait a minute. Pinkie leaned closer to the cupcakes. And when she realized what was wrong, she gasped.
The gems were gone.
The cupcakes had been switched.

“This is a disaster!” Pinkie screamed, pacing around the room. “These were Spike’s special treats, his thank-you for all his help. I worked extra hard on these!” She paused. “Plus, there’s the slight chance that anypony who tries to eat them will break all their teeth.” Resumed pacing. “This is a disaster! Oh, Gummy, what are we going to do?”
Gummy started blankly ahead, blinking slowly.
“Youʼre right, Gummy. We have to solve this mystery and save those cupcakes!” Pinkie pulled out a Detectiveʼs hat and put it on. “And also save our culpritʼs teeth,” she quickly added.
Author's Note
The title card in the middle of the text is meant to be reminiscent of the show. Cold open, followed by theme song, followed by plot.
Also, I stopped where I did because I had no idea how to write mysteries. Still don’t.
