He awoke from a half-formed dream, laid on a bed of rock, his mind shrouded in a fog of deceit with only hints of the dream remembered. Funnily enough they clung to his memory, like the stickiness of honey to its comb of wax. He recalled a soothing voice, one that held no words that still spoke to him.
“.…?”
His memory failed him, any words from the motherly voice fizzled out like the static from an old tv. He began to move, about ready to stand from the ground that cradled his body but stopped as something nagged at him to try and remember more of the dream. It was of vital of importance, the man knew this somehow, why he had no idea but something was urging him to think and so he did. It hurt, a headache started to form, but then he felt it.
He could feel the dream just beyond his reach like it was hidden behind a glass window of a shop. His head began to pound as his headache turned into a migraine, it hurt so badly but the urge of importance pressed him on, the feeling that this was too important to lose kept pushing his thoughts faster and harder like a fist against the shop window.
Just when he thought he would pass out from the pain did the imaginary glass begin to break, at first a small chip and then a crack. Then a Faultline that then spiderweb of cracks and finally a shatter! The window broke and his memory rushed in, taking his pain with it, he remembered the dream as if it was clear as day.
He stood in a void, blackness all around, thinking of his death. That’s right, his death, how could he forget his own death. He recalled his grisly end, that of being run over by a truck, he remembered walking to his beloved corner store, hunger driving him to walk the short distance from his home.
He remembered looking up and onto the horrified faces and frozen bodies of the onlookers as they watched from the sidewalks as a small child ran from a neglecting mother, who was too focused on her phone, onto the street trying to catch the rolling ball that had fallen from her little clumsy hands. He thought of the urgent horn of the truck blaring its noise as it sped down the road, the sound of herald death, clearly going way to fast to be safe and way to close to the sidewalk.
Ever inching closer to the child stuck on the road who didn’t even understand the coming concept of her demise. Time froze and so did his thoughts, a weight had fallen on him so heavy he could barely hold breath. He felt eyes on himself as his body moved without his consent, one step, two, three. He stood before the girl with a hand on the collar of her shirt, the feel of the fabric surprisingly soft.
He remembered yanking her collar in the direction of the crowd, with unbefore possessed strength, that had gathered to view a grisly end, eyes wide in horror and despair at the intended fate of the child, the mother at the front running towards the road with her arms out to catch the girl clearly to late but having to at least try. His last thoughts as the void claimed him were of how happy the mother looked with her daughter in her arms, like something precious once thought lost had returned home, safe and sound.
And now he stood here, still surrounded by the darkness. Funny he thought to himself as he sat down on the invisible ground. His hand came to rest on a surprisingly cool texture, the ground was of solid shadow, which felt like glass if it was possible to be soft and flexible. He sat like this for a moment to gather his scrambled thoughts, before the most surreal thought made him chuckle and speak aloud.
“In the end, every heart returns to the darkness whence it came.”
He loved those games, childhood personified, alas he had to figure out what to do next because honestly, he was getting bored of the void. Just as he was about to stand back up and start walking just for something to do, did a soft and gentle light appear, far off into the distance.
He noticed that the light had slowly began to approach him and so he decided to stay sitting down on the ground, he was lazy like that after all, besides he was already dead nothing could happen to him now. The glow was slowly shrinking from a blob into a shapelier figure, he could hear hooves tapping the ground at a leisurely pace and thus did the figure revel itself to him. It was an alicorn with white glowing fur, a dark red mane that sparkled and a gentle smile held just for him.
It, no she, stopped just beyond his personal space and started to examine him. Her green eyes slowly, oh so slowly, slid over his form from head to toe stopping a little to take a good long look at his hands. He looked back on a being that he knew down to his marrow, was a god of light and harmony.
Even though he was sitting he still sat eye to eye with a god and startled as the mare locked eyes with him, a force pushed against his skin that made him slowly lean back into a prone position on the ground. Not breaking eye contact did this god in a horse’s body slowly trot over and position herself onto his form.
It was only when the alicorns sublimely soft fur touch his body did the man realise that he was naked and yet he could muster no embarrassment for his situation. The goddess seemed to settle down as she positioned herself on his chest, smooching his face with her chest tuft, into a comfortable resting arrangement clearly waiting for the mans next action to determine his fate, unbeknownst to said man.
The man was surprisingly comfy under the goddess and decided to just bask in her presence. Slowly, oh so slowly, did the man raise his arms up to touch and delicately fondle the goddess ears in wonder and enquiry. Stopping just before he touches the horse gods’ ears, did she lean back and allow him to view her beautiful visage.
She locked eyes with him, trying to convey her permission to the mortal beneath her, his wish to touch her granted. When the mortal failed to heed the broadcasted thoughts did she physically nod to allow him to understand her, his hands slowly and softly began to touch and fondle her ears, one hand slipping down to caress her neck and feel the shift of her soft fur.
He didn’t know how long he sat with this gorgeous god, resting under her majesty and splendour, and worshipping her shape with his scarred hands but by the time his arms grew tired he was surprised to feel that he was happy to just be. He let his aching hands rest on the goddess withers, wondering what was going to happen next, when the alicorn once again locked eyes with the human under her. Even though she enjoyed the mortals petting and tender care the goddess still had a job to do.
She gracefully shifted her face to stare down at the naked man under her and breathed in the mortal’s scent, it smelt of darkness, pain and loneliness, other godly beings would dismiss this one just from that alone. She dug deeper knowing that there must be more to the man who would instinctively sacrifice his spark of life for an innocent and she found what she was looking for, a well of light full of compassion and love for the world and its inhabitants.
She moved her muzzle to just above his belly button while pouring half of her power into her tongue and dipped it into his navel, the starting point of life itself.
The man began to laugh at the ticklish sensation of having a horse goddess’s tongue in his belly button but found that he was frozen and unable to move. She slowly licked her way up the man’s body from navel to forehead, kissing both nipples on the way through, and finished infusing half of her essence with a final lick to his forehead and a nip of his hair. She stepped back and off the man and waited for him to stand back up.
While the man gathered his wits from the thorough licking he had received from the goddess while standing back up, he had noticed that he felt invigorated with an energy that he hadn’t had before, he felt fuller and more substantial than before. Once the man had finally stood up did the mare encroach upon his personal space once more and stood on her hind legs too gift her weight to the man’s shoulders, to look him in the eye once again.
The man bewildered by this god of light could only stand there speechless as her majesty poked out her tongue in a little blep and booped the man with her nose. While looking into the mares’ eyes did the man raise his eyebrows in wonder and directed is enquiry of wanting to know what that was in thought.
The goddess only smiled and started to nuzzle against the mans face quite gently, soft fur gracing his skin once again, somehow managing to send her thoughts and feelings of love and companionship to say just one firm word to his mind and aloud.
“Mine.”
Once she was finished cuddling with her newly declared friend, for that was what the man was now to the goddess, did she detach herself from his shoulders to gently land on the glasslike ground of shadows. Smiling once more at her newfound friend did the gentle glow she fashioned start to rapidly brighten like a supernova at birth.
Her light rushed all around her, pulsating like a heart, slowly at first but starting to speed up quite quickly. The man noticed that the light she emitted had turned the entirety of the void into a bright white, like a blank canvas. Confused the man once again asked in that weird thought talk what was happening?
He surprisingly heard giggles from his friend who now held a bright and blinding light in her horn, that he could surprisingly look at without issue, concentrated at his form. She thought her answers to him and meaning was once again held clear for the man, behind you silly. Swiftly looking behind himself did he see the results of the mares’ actions.
His shadow that was cast from the mares’ bright light had no end, it was black as pitch, but the man could see little specs of light in the darkness that stemmed from his shadow. Those look like stars the man thought at the goddess. Once again did the mare laugh at the man but didn’t answer him. Instead with her horn still shining, she started to prance in place, her hoofs dancing up and down in a cute little jig.
Come and play with me she thought, the man was getting quite use to the telepathic speech. Seeing no reason to deny her request for play time with the mare did the man began to chase the goddess across the newly formed sky, first in circles and then in random patterns.
What the man failed to take notice of was that the wildly differing shadows he cast thanks to the gods light left behind a blanket of brightened darkness full of differing colours due to the random crossing of his shadows and the mares light.
Once the man finally caught the goddess at the end of his chase did a playful feeling well up inside of him and overcome with the emotion did the man tackle the mare and start to tickle the god into submission.
First, he began to vigorously scratch the mare into a laughing fit causing her to start making love bites his hands and arms, in an attempt to get him to stop she forcibly rolled herself and her friend over the crest of a newly formed hill. Rolling with her down the hill made from his chase with the god, both the man and mare started to gain little nicks to the skin thanks to her biting and his scratching which allowed little drops of blood to soak the newly made earth, to add pigment from the man and to encourage growth from the mare. They came to a stop and started to wrestle and roll around like children playing at a park.
The man managed to win the play fight and pinned the mare to ground under him when he settled onto her back, like riding a horse he thought, still feeling playful the man started to tickle the goddess once again but this time unable to escape until she cried uncle and gave up.
The man accidently tickled the god so hard that forced her to cry actual tears that splattered the surrounding bloodstained ground. Huffing and puffing due to so much activity the man failed to notice that the heavy breaths they took left behind a slight breeze to blow away the newly formed sweat that floated from their bodies.
I’m tired thought the man to the mare, suddenly drained of energy. The mare agreed, and she rolled over, once again forcing the man to fall to the ground next to her in a heap.
The mare slowly raised her head to look at the beginning of a great work she and her new counterpart had made.
The newly formed land that had once been glasslike had shattered and shifted in her chase with man, the blood they shed in their play fighting had induced the seed of life that would one day bloom, the tears that she let fall would one day create oceans, rivers and rain and their breath would create the winds and atmosphere that would protect life from the sun when it would arrive later on. But she had one last part to play in this great work before she could sleep the eons away.
She turned towards her newly made child, once a mortal of an alien race filled with such potential of good and evil and noticed that he was already asleep, snoring away the years of the beginning.
Children she huffed, tuckered out after their first act of creation. She gathered her great magic and gave her new son her feelings, emotions, and knowledge of all that he needed to know to succeed as a godly being for when he awoke to watch over their new creation. And so it was that she stood to leave, for she had other projects to ready, but not before she spoke her new sons name into existence.
“Father Darkness is what you shall be.”
The man could only stare in shock at the ceiling of rock from where he laid and there was only one thing that he could really say out loud to his situation.
“Did I just create a universe?”
