don't leave me green hell
3 years... 3 years of terror, fear and destruction... Apple Lauda has made a name as the Nürburgring God. But on a fateful day in September, he gets a message that he doesn't want to hear at all... the GT Sport servers are getting shut down.
"this can't be..." Apple Lauda says, clearly in shock of what he just read. "it... it can't end... no... PLEASE NO!!!"
flashback
Apple Lauda races his victims on the 24h layout of the Nürburgring. Back then, he was still with his BMW M6 GT3. He used to dominate the Nordschleife with this car. In 2021, he destroyed everything he could destroy. After that, he was looking for a new way to set lap record after lap record. After a race on the Nürburgring 24h layout, Apple Lauda looked at how far he was in the lead. The result was a lead of 33 seconds.
"well... that was a win way too easy..." Apple Lauda says. The world is in pure shock. How can somepony like Apple Lauda destroy his opponents by such a huge margin. He knows the track by heart. He loves the Nürburgring. Can anypony even stop him by now?
a few months later, a group 4 race was taking place at the Nordschleife and of course Apple Lauda had to race there. He had so much trust in his skills that he started to play with karma. Coincidentally, he was in a lobby with a british streamer. He sent him a message that said "I will destroy you all xD, 10 seconds lead."
Apple Lauda won the first race with a lead of just 4 seconds. But then he wanted to make his threat reality. He won the second race with a lead of just over 10 seconds, making him truly the Nürburgring God.
But Apple Lauda wanted more, in fact he wants everything!!! He is so far unbeaten, but on a fateful day in 2023, the Nürburgring (24h layout) has shown up for the final time.
Apple Lauda sadly sighs. "that's the final lap I guess..." the Nürburgring God says. Fluttershy notices Apple Lauda's behavior.
"I know it's hard for you but all good things must come to an end at some point." Fluttershy said.
"I can't leave the green hell behind..." Apple Lauda said.
"you don't have to leave it behind, you still can do laps by yourself afterwards..." Fluttershy said. "besides, you never had an real opponent after all"
"But I am the Nürburgring God!!! I want to challenge other ponies!!!! there's no way I will get out of this with a 100% win quote!!!" Apple Lauda complains.
"You're too fast for everypony, they can't even get close to you. You are your own opponent." Fluttershy explained.
The last ever Nürburgring 24h race starts and Apple Lauda gets a start like usually and pulls away like always. The Nürburgring God goes for a final send. He has raced so many times, he has completed so many laps, he was suffering a lot from setbacks... but this didn't stop him. As Apple Lauda races through Hatzenbach, he just wants to maximum attack the Nürburgring and show the world one final time of what he is capable of. A few minutes later, he enters the final lap.
"Ultima Volta" Apple Lauda says sadly.
"it's okay Nürburgring God... it's okay" Fluttershy says.
And suddenly... Apple Lauda no longer races, he starts time attacking the Ring because his victims are way too far back. He has a lead of over 40 seconds as Apple Lauda enters Aremberg.
"in a few minutes, it's over..." Apple Lauda says. "God please don't do this to me. I love the Nürburgring. I want the green hell to stay with me until the end of my life"
A few minutes later, Apple Lauda crosses the line with a lap time of 8:11.958 minutes. With that, the chequered flag has been shown to the Nürburgring God. It's all over.
Apple Lauda rushes to the door of his flat.
"where are you going?" Fluttershy asks worried. Apple Lauda runs away crying. The Nürburgring God is no more...
or is he?
at the Nürburgring, Apple Lauda sits down at the Brünnchen section and cries his eyes out. Brünnchen was one of his favourite corners he was ever going through. His fastest he went there was a 3:39.7... Only a pony with a very aggresive driving style can drive this fast. Apple lauda curls up and leans his head on the fence, trying to feel the warm embrace of the green hell. He needs the Eifel Gods right now. But they can't help him either. The final race is over, the GT Sport servers are shut down. Apple Lauda is now an immortal personality.
Fluttershy manages to find Apple Lauda. She knows that he is done with his nerves. Fluttershy walks up to him.
"Apple Lauda?" Fluttershy asks.
"F-Fluttershy?! h- how did you find me?" Apple Lauda asks, still crying hard.
"I knew you would come here because it's one of your favourite corners." Fluttershy says.
"I am no longer the Nürburgring God... I lost my title..." Apple Lauda said. He totally breaks down and collapses.
Fluttershy catches Apple Lauda before he breaks down completely. Apple Lauda cries into Fluttershy's chest, hugging her as tightly as possible.
"ssssshhhh, it's okay... it's okay..." Fluttershy says, trying to calm Apple Lauda down. "you still are the Nürburgring God"
"WHY DID THEY HAVE TO TAKE MY MOST FAVOURITE PLACE AWAY?!?!?!" Apple Lauda screams.
"the game is quite old you know... it exists since 2017... but I'm sure you would do a great job in another game" Fluttershy explains.
"b-but my performance... my immortal state... my invincibility..." Apple Lauda cries out.
"it will stay forever..." Fluttershy says. "nopony did such an incredible performance like you did. You are some sort of the new Ayrton Senna"
"I will miss the green hell" Apple Lauda cries out.
"I know... I'm here for you" Fluttershy said.
"But am I still the Nürburgring God?" Apple Lauda asks. Suddenly, a group of ponies show up. They're over 1000 ponies, if not even more ponies.
"Yes you are!!!" the group cheers.
Apple Lauda calms down again. He knows that he will always be the Nürburgring God...
