Button glanced down, seeing the water was now up to his chest. "We'll figure it out later. Right now, we can't stand here."

The mare glanced down and nodded. "Right, shoot. Um."

She doubled back and tried to get her bearings, only to feel even more lost as the tunnels gave nothing away. She thought back to the map... Only to draw a blank as she felt a bit of panic take over. The water was up to her neck now. "Lets try this way." She led him back, taking a left down another tunnel, down another long stretch.

Only to turn and find another wall waiting for her. At this point, the water was forcing her head up as she gasped for air. They were more like swimming than running at this point. That worked for now but the water was going all the way to the top.

She could now see the pool had some weird graphs and numbers scrolling along the bottom on old looking green electric screens.

He coughed. "Didn't we just... Drown?" He took in a few more gasps of air.

"Yeah... Pretty sure we did." She stared off into space. Surely they should have been released from this mortal coil. There was no way they simply floated out.

"What is this stuff anyways?" Button asked, slowly gripping the side of the pool and attempting to crawl out. His legs seemed weak at first, as he seemed to stumble a bit, struggling to stand as he sat on the ground. He was completely naked, no sign of the makeshift loin cloth.

The mare attempted to do the same, crawling out and finding that her legs felt weak. She did her best to crawl over to him. She could tell now that she too was completely naked. Button reached out as she neared him, pulling her into an awkward hug. "Sorry, I should have looked at that map closer." He said softly. Button shook his head. "We are team. Something tells me we aren't going to get through this unless we work like one. Remember the boat game? We had that. We just need to cover each others bases."

Slowly he began to stand up, shakily but he seemed to be finding his strength. "Now lets figure out where we are and what happened."

Once he got his balance, he helped his favorite mare to her feet, the two holding each other for a few second longer before they slowly started breaking apart. The two turned and walked over to the door, seeing a sticky note. "Check Point Room. Didn't I tell you both were safe? Though I would recommend a more careful approach next time." Button read out loud. He took the stick note off, crumbled it up and toss it behind him.

"Starting to get a bit miffed at whoever is leaving this notes. A better explanation as to what the heck is going on would be really nice. Like, I get we just sort of respawned just now... But how? And why are we being forced to play this weird game?"

He smiled back. "Same." He opened the door, finding it lead back into the beginning of the test chamber they were just in. "Well, looks like we are going at this again. This time, we will be really studying this map. I am sure we will get through this, this time."

Strange. This cycle of subjects appear to be more willing to throw themselves back into the fray far faster than any before? Could the written experiences be over riding their existential dread? Or is their desire to mate the thing over riding their existentialism? More testing is needed but it seems we were right to change the map last minute. Subject A was able to instinctively find her way no problem till she reached the point of the recent change. Next room may need to be switched out as well just to play it safe. Samples may need to be taken anyways.
