I'm You.
Inference
Previous Chapter'You awaken.' Took you long Enough, I was sat here waiting for 2 weeks. Why were you gone for so long anyway partner, got business on the outside you're keeping from me? Heh, well it isn't my business to pry.
'Your current surroundings blend together in a sense of nausea and unfamiliarity.' Quite the culture shock I am quite sure. Oh not to you player, but it seems your constant meddling has caused our sweet deer vessel to become so accustomed to the constant dullness of the Undergrounds surroundings, she beginning to struggle to adapt. 'You're constant blank face almost appears to morph to confusion as you scrutinise that statement.' Ha, how do I know? Do you really need to ask? It surely isn't difficult for you to put 2 and 2 together. Or perhaps I overestimated your ability. either way such things are irrelevant for the moment.
'As your vision begins to soften and clear after some time, you can make out several vestiges of trees and an abundance of diverse flora.' These Flowers almost remind me of somebody. Don't you think? Just as meek and pathetic as he was as well, quite the accomplishment. 'You wish your avatar could snark at the comment, but it seems the message was still crossed regardless.' Yes I know. Some of these, on the other hand are plant life that I am completely unfamiliar with for the most part. However I suggest you steer clear of the blue weeds scattered around us, I would hardly call what they possess to be magic, but it is highly unstable and erratic whatever it is. 'Great, more magically enhanced plants, how conveniently inconvenient.
'The sun in all its majesty is now viewable over the treetops, it seems it is still early. Distinct memories of your friends basking in it's same familiar light come rushing in. You feel notably colder.' ''Friends'' Who does he think he is fooling here? The only way to break out of the world was to gather enough LV in the first place. Any sentimentality for those lot in anybody akin to you would have surely been eroded away after thousands of repeated sessions cutting them short. 'You would struggle to appose that statement, perhaps because of the lack of any corrections you could make.' I suppose the system needs the vessel to follow some kind of narrative for it to function accordingly. Restrictive, but definitely not something you can't work around. I suppose we should probably search for any signs of life around the outskirts of this forest.
'Carefully avoiding the cobalt stems you trek through the clustered assortment of trees. A branch snaps somewhere out of view, you are being stalked. Be prepared.' Don't get your hopes up for a challenge these things are pitiful, even if I had decided to remove your progress. Well, lets just say their fate wouldn't change. Wood constructs are a peculiar 'natural' predator in a forest however. Especially given the amount around us currently. These things aren't sentient. so if you're intending to play with your food, you don't have to worry about gaining LV. I doubt said notion would stop you however.
'Taking hold of the TRUE KNIFE you assault the necks of these beasts with accuracy only a lack of a dodge check in the code could grant you.' Jeez smartass, ever heard of subtlety. ''Neither of you are very good at it, dunno what you're trying to sell Chara." Wow, did you just talk to me.
'At the lack of response from you she snarls, a new one for sure.' how in the... Okay just gonna shut up again, don't think I'll forget this partner. 'Before she can push you for answers it appears these beings are not as brittle as expected. You don't need to see your partner to hear their disgruntled sigh as the Wolves begin to coagulate into a single entity.' Reformation? How annoying. Its new size is little more than a guise however. It would suspect complete burning is the only option to keep it down. Don't expect any help from me until you elaborate. Get on with it.
'You once again brandish your weapon, staring down the now gargantuan behemoth of a wolf, Without a moment's hesitation, a flurry of attacks blitzed the thing before it could even perceive it. Knowing simple stabs and slashes to be ineffective however, you do not relent, stabbing your blade into the ground, the area is suddenly lit ablaze in a condensed, yet still powerful explosion, although even that may still have been glorious overkill.' Sloppy, yet effective, can't fault you completely for that I suppose.
'As you leave the reminiscent scene of ash and death, you can see a massive chasm like opening in the ground covered in spiny black plants.' Well this is a promising look, if we're lucky we won't have to spend more time here than we have to. I don't know why there would be life signals in a clear death trap like this, but it is our best bet. May as well take the opportunity.
'As you slowly walk down the conveniently formed pathway down into the ravine, you begin to notice a nigh unnoticeable dimmed light that the tendrils seem to be blocking for some purpose. You take out your weapon in preparation.' Hold your tendencies back for a second won't you. There are 3 unnaturally high magic levels behind this makeshift garden fence. Don't want to be to hasty and destroy them without figuring some things out around here. Attack the perimeter.
'After carefully giving the plant a free make-over you take notice of two masses of the same tendrils. They seem to be guarding something within them. There is also a giant mass of crystal behind them, also tangled in the vines, a vague imitation of a tree in shape.' There is something going on with that crystal. It seems to have the highest magic signature here but it is nowhere near its full potential. Either it is simply running out of magic, or more likely, these plants are siphoning it off. Also the two energy signatures inside the masses are actually equines. Though they are rather odd compared to what I saw when I viewed the gateway before we came here. From what I could gather there were 3 different species of these creatures. The regular types you and I would presumably be familiar with, alongside Pegasus, and Unicorns, which appear to be reminiscent of your kinds works of myth. These two however, appear to be an amalgamation of the latter two species. It is certainly odd, however, all these questions are mantling and these ponies may prove to be our salvation when it comes to getting at least some of them answered.
'As you prepare to give the mounds of vines the same treatment as those you cut down prior, you are interrupted by some distinct voices coming from behind you.'
"Hey, I don't know what exactly you're doing here, who, or what you are for that matter, but if you are the cause for all of this chaos, then be warned, we will be forced to stop you" 'You turn around quickly, almost too quickly, you notice several of the figures behind you gasp or flinch in surprise, the purple one, the one who addressed you, the horn atop her head flares with arcane arts. Given this stare-down you study the opponents in front of you, they all appear to be female for a start, given their slender builds, although there is more individually.'
'Two of them both orange and pink appear the most harmless of the group, they seem to lack the added advantages of manoeuvrability and magic both the Pegasi and Unicorns possess, although they do have it in far smaller amounts, more unique in nature, the pink far more than the orange. Speaking of, the pink appears to be almost turbo in nature, never still, despite the potentially dangerous predicament, fitting given the clearly messy appearance of the creature's mane and tail.' There is something off about the pink equine, If you were to engage, I recommend you don't give her any chances to try anything. 'The orange however appears much more cautious, although not by fear, but by her clearly sharp perception, even now, you get the feeling she is evaluating you, gathering information in order to infer whether or not you are a danger to her and her companions, She appears alike that of a farmer, of some kind given her headware, although that may just be stereotyping at work'
'The next pair seem near polar opposites, the blue and the yellow, both are clearly nimble in both species and build, they both have far clearer magic signatures than the previous, although still limited, more than likely due to the magic being entirely centred in their wings, and not as such isn't manipulable in the same way the unicorns are. The blue was one of the few who didn't immediately flinch when you turned to face them, instead getting into a combat ready position, clearly barely holding back the urge to ram you at full force, she seems to be much more physically capable, although she is the most exposed, so perhaps some of the others outmatch her, she has a rainbow mane and tail, which you would question the biological logistics of, before remembering you're currently in a reality run by magic horses. The other Pegasus is the exact opposite of that, the yellow one, she is cowering behind the purple one, occasionally poking her head out to glance at you, however when she does, you clearly notice a very thin layer of curiosity and, almost amazement on her face, perhaps sheer curiosity. She has a very contrasting pink mane and tail, and is consciously making the attempt to hide behind her mane, perhaps it is more than just fear that is making her cower after all.'
The final pair are, from first glance, the most threatening, the white one, and the purple one. one is a unicorn, and the purple another amalgamation, similar to the figures trapped within the vines they both have higher magic signatures than the others, although the amalgam, even dwarfs the white one in magical potential, the horn on these creatures seems to act as a sort of funnel, both for projecting internal magic out, and absorbing external magic in, to compensate for what is lost after spell use, a very genius evolutionary adaptation. The white one seems half intrigued half disgusted, and fully cautious all the same, she has a purple mane and tail, both of which seem far better cared for than er associates. For some reason her near gawking state is as much directed at you, as it is to the simple blue and purple sweater you are wearing, other than the orange one, none are equipped with clothing so it is rather strange, but save the worthless questions for when you have more free time. The purple one however is the most intriguing, her potential magic energy is one you can't even get a proper read on, perhaps indicating a limitless magic capacity in reserves, because she is hardly using any of it, but even then the small part of her magic she is charging currently far eclipses anything else you've encountered, perhaps she doesn't yet have access to these deep magic reserves, perhaps this magic level has something to do with her clear nature as an amalgamation, however the other two, while having stronger magic than she is using currently, lack the same bottomless potential.' Curious. I wonder what she will do if we become openly antagonistic. But save that for later, the less we give her to infer upon your true nature the better, while not too much of a problem now, if she unlocks her magic reserves, she could become immensely problematic. Though these curious characters seem to be our best chance to get some ground, act quaint, it'll help you in the long run.
'You question why she is suddenly so open to giving advice, you thought she was still sulking from earlier.' Simple, the more things you have to question, the more entertaining this whole thing is for me.
