Ponyville
Spike was overlooking the destruction he had caused. It was his birthday, and unfortunately, his dragon greed got the better of him and he turned into a larger rampaging dragon. At first he mostly just stole random stuff, but as his greed increased, so did he. He even kidnapped Rarity, but the fashionista was able to calm him down and turn him back to normal.
Even if he was back to normal, Spike couldn't help but feel so horrible over what he had done. As he overlooked a large claw print into the ground, he held out his small claw and compared sizes. “That was me…” He said as a tear began to go down his face and his body shook. “I…I turned into that!”
“Spike?” He turned his head to see Twilight, Rarity, and the rest of the girls start to come over to him. He looked at them, but then looked back down, tears falling out of his eyes. “Spike?” Twilight said to him with a comforting tone of voice.
Spike’s body trembled as he looked at the large claw print and his own regular claw. “I...I just can’t believe that…that I-” He tried to get the words out, but he was just too filled with grief to say anything. His body trembling over the massive destruction he had caused.
Twilight then got a look of worry on her face as she reached out to touch him, but when her hoof made so much as a digit to his shoulder, he trembled and jumped back. “Please don’t hurt me!” He begged as his face was one of fear.
The girls looked at him with major worry and concern, never had they seen Spike like this before. Of course, he felt ashamed for what he did, but he feared being hurt…this was something new! “Spike, I would never-” Twilight said.
Spike however was backing up. “Please! I’m sorry…please don't be mad at me!” He begged. “Please?” His body still trembled a bit as tears were beginning to put out of them. What were they going to do? Hurt him? Order him to leave?
The girls were all shocked by this, but none were as surprised as Twilight. “Spike..” She said with shock. Why would Spik ever think of that? Spike however was still trembling and backing up a bit, before he made a dash away from them. “Spike!” Twilight called out to him. But Spike didn't listen to her, all he could do was run away, he didn't know where to go, but he had to get away from everypony. Now everypony was looking at him, but in his mind, there was something else going on.
“Get lost you horrific beast!” A voice said in anger.
“Such a horrid creature.” Another voice shouted.
“Somepony should lock that beast up!”
Now this was all in his head, and Spike believed in it, and it made his tears go down super fast as he continued to run away, with everypony looking at him go, but one filly stopped him.
“Spike, what's going-” Sweetie Belle asked, but Spike pushed her away and he continued to run away. “SPIKE!” She called out, but he still ran away.
Everfree Forest
Spike ran as far as his little legs could carry him. And it led him to go into the Everfree Forest, after he stopped running he then stopped and took some deep breaths, his lungs giving out.
“Spike!” The young drake turned to see Sweetie Belle and the rest of the Cutie Mark Crusaders running to him, concerned looks on their faces. “Where are you going?” Sweetie Belle asked.
Spie however turned away. “You three saw what happened, I did all of that!” He said as he then began to walk off. “I let my greed get to me and nearly destroyed all of Ponyville!” He said as tears poured from his eyes. “I have to go.” He said.
That was when all three fillies trotted up in front of him and faced him. “Where are you going to go?” Scootaloo asked him. “You can't leave Ponyville!”
Spike frowned. “After what I did, I’m pretty sure everypony in Ponyville is going to be happy that I left, they don't care! They will be fine knowing that the dragon who nearly destroyed the place will be gone.” He said. “Now please move.”
“NO!” Apple Bloom exclaimed. “We won’t let you leave!” She said, her face full of determination. “How do you think Twilight or the others would feel? Huh? How do you think we would feel?”
Spike looked at them and he lowered his head to give a low chuckle. “After the destruction I caused….I’m pretty sure Twilight will send me away…so why bother waiting when I can send myself away…the other girls..Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash are usually pranking me, so they won't care…Applejack will be indifferent…Fluttershy fears dragons…so she will be more than happy to see me go…and Rarity…well...I guess our love is not meant to be.”
Sweetie Belle then gritted her teeth, why was he being so stubborn? “Well, what about us, huh?” she asked, her eyes threatening to shed tears. “We care about you! You are usually helping us try to find our cutie marks!”
“And I tried taking your scooter!” Spike exclaimed, now getting tired of this. “Now please let me-'' But he didn't finish as he was then engulfed in a big hug, three fillies wrapping hooves around each other, with him in the middle. Spike, while liking the feeling of it, was stammering. “Please let me go…” He said, struggling to not cry.
Apple Bloom shook her head. “We won’t let you do that.” She said softly. “Please, I’m sure if you apologize to everypony in town, I’m sure they will all forgive you.” The other two crusaders nodded their heads in agreement.
Spike was now at a loss for words. Could they be right? Could Twilight and the rest of Ponyville forgive him? He was nervous, he was afraid they might not…what if they didn't? “And if they don't then we will support you.” Scootaloo said with a smile on her face.
Spike looked at the three fillies and took a deep breath, maybe they were right…maybe he would be forgiven…but what if he wouldn't? All he could do was sigh and hope for the best. “Alright,” He said. “Let’s go back.” He said as he and the fillies all walked out of the forest, back to Ponyville.
Ponyville
The foursome arrived back to see that everypony was now doing their part in fixing and cleaning up the remnants of Spike's rampage. He sighed in dread, but he felt a hoof on his right shoulder to see Sweetie Belle giving him a smile.
“Everypony!” Apple Bloom called out, getting every stallion and mare's attention, they all stopped what they were doing and approached the foursome. Twilight and the other girls were at the front and were relieved when they saw Spike, but nopony was more relieved than Twilight and Rarity.
Spike could feel the stares he was getting from all of them, and there were definitely faces that were glaring super hard at him, but most others had faces that looked a bit terrified, and it made him feel even more horrible. Spike wanted to do nothing more but to go off and run, but he felt hooves on his claw an he tried to see the three fillies looking at him with encouraging looks.
Spike sighed and walked right up, with everypony looking at him. “Everypony…I’m sorry.” Spike said to them. “I’m sorry for what happened, and I’m sorry for terrorizing the town. It's my birthday…and I let my greed get the best of me. I know it sounds like an awful apology, but I truly am sorry and I hope you can all forgive me for what I did…I’ll do whatever it takes to get back into your graces…just please forgive me.” As he was apologizing, he had tears going down his face. He seriously meant every word of it as he slunk to his knees and his claws on the ground. “Please forgive me!” He exclaimed as tears began pouring out of his eyes at a super fast rate.
Everypony, even the ones who were angry at him for what he did in the first place looked at him and then at each other, wondering what to do. Should they forgive him? Sure he did apologize for what he did…but that doesn't change the fact that he nearly destroyed all of Ponyville…but still. To see a young baby dragon cry his heart out to them all…
As Spike was crying, he felt a hoof raise his head up to see a familiar lavender unicorn give him a sad smile and wipe his tears away with her hoof. “Spike, I know you didn't mean to attack the town. And I’m so proud of you for apologizing and owning up to it.” She said as she gave him a soothing hug, causing the young dragon to cry in her embrace and for the town ponies to go in awe at the sight.
Rarity then looked at them all. “Oh, please forgive him. Spike is the kindest dragon I have ever met. Sure he became big, but he has apologized to all of you.” She then had a pleading look on her face. “Please forgive him.”
Everypony in town looked at eachother and…well…of course he apologized and he was still technically a kid…so what the heck. Everypony all smiled and nodded at the group, making Spike look at them all with a tearful look.
“T-thank you, everypony.” He sniffled as he was then engulfed by Twilight, Rarity, the CMC's and the other girls.
Golden Oaks Library
Spike was not done yet as he was now apologizing to the rest of the Maine 6 for what he did, with the CMCs there as well
“Applejack, I’m sorry for taking your apples, and your leaves.” He said. “Fluttershy, I’m sorry for scaring you and for taking your chicken coop. Pinkie Pie, I’m sorry for wrecking Sugarcube Corner and for taking all the cake.” He then turned to Rarity and looked the most shamed. “Rarity..I’m so sorry for kidnapping you and for using you as a fly swatter.” He said.
But he was then engulfed by a hug from the girls. “You're fine, sugarcube, I forgive you.” Applejack said with a smile and rubbing the top of his scales.
Fluttershy went up and hugged him gently. “I forgive you. And I apologize for being terrified of you, I’m just happy that you're back to the regular Spike we know and love.” She said with a smile.
Rainbow Dash went up and gave him a bit of a noogie. “In some weird way, you looked pretty cool as a big dragon.” She said, making Spike give a short chuckle.
“Yeah, I guess.” He said as Pinkie then gave him a big hug.
“Cakes can be replaced, but not you. I forgive you Spikey!” Pinkie said with a big smile on her face.
Now when Spike was placed down, he was face-to-face with Twilight and Rarity, the white unicorn went over to him and wrapped her hooves around him. “My little Spikey-Wikey.” Rarity said through happy tears as she hugged him. “I’m so happy that you are back to your normal self again. I was really worried.”
Spike nodded. “Yeah…say, uh Rarity.” He said to her. “About what I said…when we were plum-” but his words were stopped by Rarity's hoof going to his lips.
The white unicorn sighed. “Spike, you have no idea how much of a sweet drake you are. You're kind, helping, and willing to do anything for us all.” She then gave a small sigh, a sigh that Spike was sort of dreading. “But I’m sorry…but I have to decline your feelings for me.” She said.
When she said that, his world felt cracked, almost as if his heart was breaking as tears began to swell up a bit. "Oh…" he said with dejection.
Rarity saw this and she then pressed her hooves to his face. “Spike, just because I don't return your feelings, doesn't mean that I do not care for you.” She said to him. “From my perspective, I see you as the kind, charming, sweet little brother who wants to spend time with his sister.” she gave a warm smile. “Spike, that is what I see you as, I just see you as my little brother and nothing more…but I still wish to be around you, to help guide you just like with Sweetie Belle.”
Spike looked up at her and even though he was upset that she was rejecting his feelings, he began to feel a bit better knowing that she still wanted to be with him, as an older sister. “Spike,” Rarity said again. “I might be the mare for you, but don't give up. Someday, someday soon, there will be a very special somepony for you.” She said as she then gave him a small peck on the cheek.
“Thanks, Rarity,” Spike said with a sad smile, a smile that turned into a frown. “Again, I’m just sorry for turning into a huge monster and-”
“Spike,” He turned to see Twilight and the others come forward. “Don't you EVER call yourself a monster, you hear me?” Twilight said, looking fierce, but also very sad. “Even when you do grow up and become as big as the other dragons, you will never be a monster…not to me or the other girls.”
Fluttershy went over and nuzzled him. “I might be afraid of dragons, but I am not afraid of you. And when you get bigger, I will never run from you.”
Spike looked at everypony and could feel the tears begin to swell up once again. “Thanks everypony…this means alot to me.” He said. Soon he was engulfed in a group hug by the three fillies, who were smiling.
“We told you they would forgive you.” Apple Bloom said to home with a cheeky grin. And they were soon joined in by the rest of the mares in the hug. Spike looked at all the mares around him and smiled. Sure, his birthday could have gone better…but he was lucky because he had an amazing group of friends who care about him very much.
