Day One, Entry One:
My name is Professor Jacob Stone, quantum physicist. My older colleagues all said the Human race was decades from discovering the means to create a stable wormhole, but I have never been one for following convention. Building upon the works of Daniel Jafferis, Ping Gao, and Aron Wall, I was able to successfully create, for a very short time, a wormhole large enough to step through...

I must admit my initial actions were rather...rash. I had no way of knowing where the portal would take me, or what the conditions would be once I arrived. I only had the briefest glimpse of an Earth-like world on the monitor before I heard and saw the college's security force beating down the door to the lab, so I had only moments to make a decision. I quickly adjusted the controls and stepped through the portal just as the door was being smashed open.
The next thing I knew, I was on a grassy hilltop, with a large city in the foreground. I looked around, and judging from the lack of pursuit, I could only surmise the portal closed as soon as I stepped through, which meant I was stranded here until I could recreate the conditions of the lab.
But for the moment, all such feelings of despair were cast aside, fully submersed under the exhilaration of being the first Human to travel to another world by wormhole! I took a moment to breathe deeply of the air, and was further thrilled to find the atmosphere not only sustaining but also invigorating! I had never before encountered such pure air before, and for the first few moments, I simply enjoyed it.
Then, I took my first steps in this new world and was surprised to find my body felt...lighter. Wherever in the Universe this was, the gravity here was less than that on Earth...not significantly so as it would be on Earth's Moon, but noticeable. I looked down at myself. I'd come through the portal with only my clothes, my lab coat, my wallet, my cellphone, keys to my car and my apartment, and my journal. And my glasses.
Which I squinted through, took them off, and found that I didn't need them anymore! The objects off in the distance instantly became crystal-clear, meaning that my body was being affected by this environment in ways I couldn't imagine!
I could only hope all the changes would be beneficial.
As I'd begun this adventure with the intent of exploring, exploring is what I'd do. So, I set off in the direction of the shining city, and could only hope that the natives here were friendly, and not at all as mine would be if an alien were to suddenly appear on their streets.

"What the HELL is that?!" a mare screamed as she pointed to the bipedal creature approaching the gates. The guards quickly took position and lowered their spears, as whatever it was stopped and raised its...arms?...in an apparent show of compliance. Then it spoke, but its words were pure nonsense, unlike any language anypony had heard before.
"Alright, bud...or whatever you are...just remain calm..." said one of the guards as he sidled nearer. Reaching behind him to his belt, he slowly brought out some cuffs. "We're just gonna put these on you, and then take you to one of our cells...no sudden moves, okay?" To everypony's relief, the creature merely held out its arms and calmly allowed itself to be captured, and then quietly led off through the streets. Ponies stopped whatever they were doing and stared at the beast, while word quickly spread so that others came to their doors and windows and looked out, as all gawped and whispered to one another. By the time the guards had reached the Castle with it, a very large herd had gathered, and remained long after it had been ushered through the mighty doors and taken away.
The creature looked around itself in what appeared to be awe as it stared at all the trappings of the Royal Castle: the marble floors, the high, stained glass windows, the bright tapestries, and it also seemed to be just as surprised at seeing ponies as they were to see it. It seemed to take particular attention to the mares, for every time a maid would come into view, it would stare even longer, and utter more of those nonsense words. At this, the guards would frown and grip it even tighter, and then rush it along faster, for all but a few of the mares would exhibit fright upon seeing the creature. For despite its familiar-looking body, its facial features were just...wrong. Its eyes were too small, as were its ears and nose...and it had no tail. When it opened its mouth to speak, it was revealed it had sharp, canine teeth, so it must be some sort of predator. That, and it was tall. Very tall...at least half a foot taller than the tallest guard currently escorting it down the halls. And even though it had flecks of grey in its beard, indicating advancing age, it still looked like it could do some damage if it weren't restrained.
So, they were taking no chances.
Once they made it to the underground cells, they did a thorough search of its clothing and found a strange object: a black rectangle, made of some sort of metal and plastic. The creature became agitated when it was removed, and tried to reach for it, but was held back by several guards. This was when they discovered it was unusually strong, as well as being tall. One of the keys was also unusual, as it didn't seem to match anything they'd ever seen, as it was just a fob with buttons on one side. There was a drawing of an unopened lock on one button and an opened lock on another, as well as one with a lightning bolt. So, it could possibly be some sort of weapon. They also removed its shoes, in case it was hiding something within them, and briefly considered making it strip completely, but finally settled on having it remove all but its underwear. If the expression on its face was any indication, it wasn't happy with these arrangements, but other than the incident with the rectangle it showed no other hostility.

Jacob sat on the cold bench of the concrete cell, weighing his options. "I suppose I should be grateful that they didn't terminate me at first sight..." he thought to himself. He was in the middle of a vast Castle, in the heart of a vast, alien world of which he knew nothing...there was nowhere else to go. Besides, he wasn't some action hero; he was a middle-aged scientist...who had allowed his own hubris to cause him to be stuck in this situation.
He looked around his cell. It was obviously made for beings of their stature, for when he stood, his head brushed against the ceiling. There was nothing in the tiny space but the bench on which he sat, and a bucket in the corner, which, judging from the smell, was meant to serve as his toilet. "Higher volume won't make the potion work any faster, Doctor Methods," one of the others chided. "Give it some time." They were all gathered in one of the examination rooms of the Castle, with guards posted within and outside. The scientists and doctors all stood around him scribbling notes, while the creature watched them warily. The pony scientists and doctors hastily scribbled notes, and then one asked, "A scientist? What is your field of study?"
Jacob took in the rustic-looking walls, the primitive (to his view) medical instruments, and hesitated a moment more before saying, "Quantum physics." The ponies all stared blankly at him.
After exchanging puzzled glances, one finally said, "We...are not familiar with that...discipline. Can you elaborate?"
Jacob placed a hand behind his head and said, "It...might take a while to explain. But basically, it's the study of matter and energy at the most fundamental level, allowing for particles to exist in two places at the same time." He paused, and then asked, "Are you familiar with the 'Planck' length?" They all indicated the negative. He continued. "The Planck length is the scale at which classical ideas about gravity and space-time cease to be valid, and quantum effects dominate. This is the 'quantum of length', the smallest measurement of length with any meaning. And roughly equal to 1.6 x 10-35 m or about 10-20 times the size of a proton..." but stopped as Doctor Methods held up a hand.
"That...will be quite enough, Doctor Stone...I think we've heard more than we need to..." Through a smile that seemed rather forced, he added, "We'll be returning your clothing and other items just as soon as the guards have determined they pose no threat. Please, wait here just a bit longer while we adjourn to discuss our findings."

I propose we continue to examine him, find out more about himself and his world, and if it is determined he poses no threat to Pony Society, inform Their Highnesses of our decision." To this, they all agreed.
The males turned to Doctor Sophe. "He seems to respond best to you, Doctor. We'll leave it up to you to inform him of our conditions."
She bowed slightly and said, "I'll tell him at once."
But as she left the room and proceeded down the hall back to the alien, she smiled quietly to herself.
Jacob tensed as the door opened, and then relaxed as the pony mare reentered the room. He watched as she spoke briefly to the guards, who frowned at her and shook their heads, but then her voice took on a more demanding tone. They looked from her to him, then nodded and left.
