Heart of Grogarby Snakes0ChaptersChapter 1: Fall of CanterlotChapter 2: MonsterChapter 3: NightmareChapter 4 SoulChapter 5: FatherChapter 6: Father of MonstersChapter 1: Fall of CanterlotI was there when it happened. That day was like any other. I was just returning back to home when King Sombra invaded Canterlot by himself. I don't know why he was driven to face down all of Canterlot by himself without an army. The first sign of trouble was when there was an explosion from the castle. You could see it from the streets of Canterlot. I had a bad feeling about that day so I hurried home. I live with my dad as my mother passed away giving birth to me. He is one of Celestia's guards and thinking back on it he probably didn't make it out alive. The next sign of trouble was when I saw the Mane 6 arrive through my window with the Elements of Harmony. I knew something really bad had to have happened. Hours later they were victorious. That was until I saw that the black smoke form of King Sombra had followed them. Later that day he came back and this time he had stolen the Alicorn amulet from the royal vault. I didn't know it but during that time he had apparently destroyed the Tree of Harmony. Then during the fight that followed started to level houses and I got partially buried. Celestia and Luna fought valiantly. They knew they could no longer rely on the Elements now that they were shattered and the stakes were too high for them to hold back or be defeated. It was a marvel to behold. These were not the same princesses who would seem to get captured by the next villain of the month. They were not holding back. I was seeing for the first time true alicorn power and the reason why some ponies thought of them as deities. The Sun and Moon were both raised so they could both fully draw powers from their respective celestial bodies. Celestia was enveloped in an aura of fire and Luna was clothed in moonlight. At one point they knocked the amulet off of King Sombra who had yet to wear it for reasons I do not know. The Amulet fell right next to me. It was within hoof's reach. I knew what it was. I had heard of Trixie turning from a street magician to somepony Twilight who was a master of magic wasn't able to beat fairly. The design was eerie with a dark metal surface that had the head and wings signifying an alicorn. It also had a crimson gem at the center. While Celestia and Luna are finally not being comic relief for once they are still getting injured. I knew I had to do something. I grabbed the amulet. I was pinned from my collapsed house so I knew I wouldn't be able to hide it and I knew he could pry it easily from me... So I did the only thing I could think of. Pry out the gem with all the magic I had. My unicorn horn shattered from the force it took to pry it. I figured it was the end for me anyway so I didn't think much of it and swallowed the Gem. I wouldn't be corrupted if I died. And King Sombra wouldn't get the power of the alicorn Amulet. Then King Sombra who wasn't looking in good condition either decided to hold somepony hostage. He grabbed me and the alicorn amulet. Celestia saw that I was still alive and knew she couldn't kill King Sombra without killing me and she hesitated. King Sombra didn't and with a blast of magic Celestia was turned into a black crystal statue in midair which shattered on the ground. The sun in the sky dims. Through tears, Luna moves the moon to the center of the sky in front of the sun creating a solar eclipse that fully takes over the whole sky. It felt as if Equestria was holding her breath. Luna looks up and glares at King Sombra with hate in her eyes and she was driven into a rage. Luna refused to let the hate turn her into Nightmare Moon by accepting dark powers and instead started burning her own immortal alicorn soul for power. I heard King Sombra curse once he noticed the Alicorn Amulet didn't have the gem and it seemed like Luna was too blinded by rage to notice me or to care if I died in the process. King Sombra knew he had expended all his energy between the Mane 6 and the two alicorn sisters and was going to lose. And so he did something that gave even Luna pause during her rage. King Sombra had shoved his hoof straight through my chest and ripped out my heart and ate it which restored his magic using mine. My vision started fading and I saw that Luna and King Sombra had both taken each other's final blow. Luna shattered in the same way as her sister. King Sombra was left with nothing but a broken horn. I knew that King Sombra could come back from that and once he did... He would take over Canterlot. But that was no longer any of my business as I lay on the ground in a pool of my own blood and lay dying thinking of the events leading to my death. King Sombra starting to reform, "WHERE IS IT?! Where is the heart?! UGH! No matter... I'll regain my magic strength soon enough and I'll burn down all of Canterlot if I have to, to find it! That peasant could have at least had the decency of having a better-tasting heart that wasn't already burnt out." And with that King Sombra retreated into the now empty castle of Canterlot. He let the ponies run and evacuate the city. He knew they would all just flee to the nearest town which wouldn't be able to support all of them. He could enslave them later. He would regain his power soon and all that stands in his way of taking over and enslaving Equestria is the Crystal Empire and whatever pockets of resistance of Canterlot that are left. But after being defeated twice within the same century he wasn't going to take any chances and he was going to find the missing piece of the Alicorn Amulet and then nothing can stop him. Author's Note Happy Halloween! I suck at grammar so I'll correct and rewrite anything that you find that bugs you. Open to suggestions and comments. Haven't decided on a name for the colt yet. Chapter 2: MonsterI opened my eyes and groaned in pain. Everything hurts. And then it hits me. I shouldn't be feeling pain or waking up at all. I quickly looked down at my chest and found... A scar. It had apparently healed. I sat there for several minutes not able to process what was going on. I wasn't half buried in rubble or lying on the streets of Canterlot. In fact... I don't know where I am. I see plains and a forest and a mountain in the distance. I squint and it takes me a while to recognize it because of how destroyed it was... But I could never forget what Canterlot looked like. It was my home all my life and I had never been outside of it. I don't even know how I got here. I have read a lot of survival books and I like to think that I am good at it. Disregarding what happened with King Sombra as there was nothing I could have done there to spare my life. Anyway, that's why my cutie mark is of a survival kit. And I know the first rule of Equestrian survival when finding yourself disoriented and someplace unfamiliar and wounded is to do cognitive tests. It was in the book: "Daring Do's Guide to Surviving an Adventure." My name is Med Kit. I'm 11 years old. I lived with my dad in Canterlot. I am a Colt. ummm... What else... oh and I'm mute. I should be dead. I had my heart ripped out of my chest by King Sombra. That's probably important. I do see the irony of me dying, but I had no control over my situation. It seems I don't have any cognitive problems. I am just scared and confused. I think back on all the survival books I read and realize I had three options. I could look for a nearby town or city, set up basic survival measures now, or head directly toward the familiar which was Canterlot. I don't have tools with me... And I don't know if this is the Everfree forest or not so trying to set up would probably be impossible for a colt like me who has a broken horn. As much as I want to go back to Canterlot... It is a long way away and there is no way I'm making it before nightfall and it will take many days. So... That leaves me with only one answer. I have to look for a town or settlement nearby. And so I walked. I didn't know how long I was walking for, only that it felt like hours. I kept walking even though I wanted to give up knowing that once you make a decision you have to commit. And so after what felt like forever... I found a town. It was called "Ponyville". I could tell at a glance that it was overcrowded. It made me smile seeing that the ponies were doing their best to accommodate the refugees. I walked in and looked around. I saw a few familiar faces, but for the most part, I didn't know anypony. I wanted to talk to somepony, but being mute just made me one of thousands of refugees. I felt more alone now than when I woke up. "Everypony! Please stop what you are doing for just a moment. I have something to say," Starlight Glimmer shouted. I turned startled by her voice. She continues, "I know you are all scared that King Sombra will attack us. But from Luna's surviving Batpony Royal Guards who did reconnaissance for us, we know he is greatly weakened from all the fighting and resurrecting so often. It will take him a long time before he can regain his strength and by then I would have countermeasures in place." "What about his monster?! That thing wiped out half of Canterlot by itself! What do we do if he decides to order it to attack us now?!" said a random frightened pony from Canterlot. "Monster? What monster? That makes no sense... Sombra couldn't have summoned and maintained control over such a powerful being in a weakened state... And I saw no monster before he came back..." I thought to myself. "Everypony please calm down.... I know you are all scared... But remember what Twilight taught us. We are strong as long as we stick together. Our bonds of friendship will be all the strength we need. Plus my magic. We have scouts. There is no way any monster could sneak by us and I would deal with it." Starlight says trying to calm them down. Starlight had a way with words. I didn't know there was a monster, but knowing that the unicorn that once held her own against THE Twilight Sparkle who was the Element bearer of Magic was on our side I felt safe. I can see why she was able to run an entire town. I was interested in this monster so I listened carefully knowing that some of the adults might still have doubts. "Do you think she could handle that massive horned crocodile? It looks like it could swallow three houses with a single bite!" whispered a doubtful refugee. "It was more like a hound from Tartarus. I don't think crocodiles have fur. And she better. I don't think my heart can take any more of this..." responds another refugee. "Hound? Crocodile? What are you all talking about? I saw its face while hiding in a large basket! It was some sort of spider or something with many eyes!" whispers another. "Maybe... There is more than one massive monster... Or maybe it is a powerful changeling... Like Chrysalis...." gulped another. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to listen for more information... Something about their descriptions bothered me... I knew it couldn't be Chrysalis because she wouldn't follow orders from a tyrant like King Sombra and she isn't that flashy. I start to remember that I didn't wake up in Canterlot where I was supposed to have died. The only thing I can think of was... That I was reanimated by King Sombra. And I just walked into a town of unsuspecting ponies... Oh no... I feel sick to my stomach... I didn't want this. I knew that without a doubt I had a part in all of this. I quickly ran and grabbed some thrown-away fabric from an empty shop called Carousel Boutique to make a bag for myself and I quickly stole some apples from a food booth. I did get caught by a filly with a red mane and yellow coat but I just ran. "Hey! Ya can't take all of those! Ya can't be that selfish! I'll catch ya!" shouts Applebloom. As much as I hate to admit it, she wasn't wrong. She was stronger and faster than I had and she was gaining on me. I was mute and I doubt she knew hoof language so I knew that I wouldn't be able to explain my situation. I couldn't afford to be caught. Every moment I stayed here was another moment I was putting them in danger. But I was running out of breath and she had cornered me.... "I got ya! Give them apples over! Ya should be ashamed of yaself for stealing!" Applebloom shouts. I was stuck in more ways than one. My dread only grew as my thoughts kept looping. I had to get out. No way out. I can't get caught. I was caught. I had to get out. No way out... I started to tear up and scrunched my eyes shut trying to block out and reject the reality of the situation. I didn't care how... I needed to... get out of here. I fueled magic into my horn in some random desperation. I heard her scream. Then I screamed... I heard a roar followed by a vision. I saw a claw swipe at Applebloom and it crushed her hind leg and batted her away... Flinging her far away into the center of Ponyvilee. I could hear the screams after the distant thud. I was too late. I hesitantly and slowly opened my eyes and saw that in place of where Applebloom had cornered me was now just a blood smear. My horn hurts and my vision readjusted from the vision. Had I seen through the eyes of the monster? Had it been my imagination of what I thought might have occurred? I do not know. I threw up black icor. I felt drained but I crawled my way out of the dead end and fled Ponyville without looking back. I had a new goal. Go back to Canterlot. If I had been a pawn in King Sombra's game then I might as well make it as inconvenient as possible. I was not going to play his games anymore. Better to die along the way or by his hooves than to lead more innocent ponies to their doom. Nopony should have to deal with this. I have a mouth and I want to scream. Author's Note Feedback or comments of any kind are welcomed. Redone. Chapter 3: NightmareIn hindsight I should have waited to steal more apples. I only had five in the makeshift backpack I made. I look down and see my right hoof is covered in blood. I don't even want to know how it happened. I think the journey to Canterlot will only take two days on hoof even if I didn't follow the main road. I couldn't risk leading the monster to more ponies. I look up at the sky and see that the sun and moon have never left their spots. It looked like a dull crimson solar eclipse with neither the warm and friendly rays of light nor the comfort of relaxing darkness. A permanent dead eclipse. Suddenly I heard a growl. I quickly turned and saw it was a Timberwolf. I know they aren't supposed to leave the Everfree forest and I am a good hour away from there. It circles around me. I don't run. I can't. I am out in the open and I am smaller and thus slower than it. It doesn't seem to attack which is rather odd. I feel like it is waiting for me as if expecting me to do something. I lay down. I can't run and I'm supposed to be dead anyway... But it just sits there staring at me. After a few minutes, I decided I would try to move past it. It follows me with its head but doesn't make a move. It won't hurt me. I don't know why. But everything stopped making sense a long time ago. It then followed me and kept getting close but always stopping within hoof's reach. It bowed. It bowed? I don't understand. Then it faded into mist as if it never was there in the first place. I look around and there was no paw prints or any trace of its prior existence. It never was real. It... Feels like an omen. My head throbs. It is getting difficult to distinguish the past, present, and future as it all blurs together. I feel that the gem I swallowed is the cause, but there is no way I can get it out now. I take a bite of an apple and resume my travel. I would see no other creatures or monsters along the way. I keep walking and walking. The castle very slowly gets bigger. Suddenly I collapse. I'm too tired. No short break would be enough. I had walked what would be maybe seven hours, but with the sun and moon never moving it was impossible to tell the time if it wasn't for my circadian rhythm telling me I should be sleeping. Oh well... I'm tired... And the fear of death slowly becoming numbed I closed my eyes. I was scared of something else. Then I remembered. Luna is gone. There is nopony regulating the dream realm. Nopony to come to anypony's aid should they have nightmares. I can feel it. There is no way I won't get a Nightmare tonight. I only pray... That they pass quickly... And I close my eyes. All around is an oppressive cloak of darkness that oozes and comes from a darker darkness, Med Kit stood alone in Canterlot. The once-familiar streets were now distorted and warped into a mockery of the original, the buildings leaning ready to collapse under the weight of all the evil pressure. The air is stale and heavy. There is a fog that enshrouds the city thickening into a viscous miasma, clinging to his every step like the tendrils of what comes from the darkness unseen. Looming shadows stretched and twisted and grabbing, taking on grotesque forms that writhed and convulsed in a sinister dance. From the darkest shadows of the darkness emerged monstrous entities of all shapes and sizes, their eyes gleaming with an insatiable hunger. Med Kit could feel the air pulsating like an evil beating heart with their ominous presence, a cacophony of gnashing and grinding as the creatures circled, their forms ever-shifting amalgamations. Med Kit tries to leave to no avail, the fog transforms into tendrils that reach out hungrily, wrapping around his hooves like ethereal chains. The gem from the Alicorn Amulet within him resonated with the twisted energy of this nightmarish place, its monstrous power seeping into the very fabric of his being. He could feel his own form warping, his very self was a blanket that was being unwoven and rewoven one thread at a time. Med Kit never knew that such horrors existed terrifying him to no end. The monstrous heart within him manifested outwardly, causing his coat to darken to an abyssal shade, veins of sickly green coursing beneath the surface. His eyes grow gnawing jaws. Med Kit's limbs felt as if he was being pulled in multiple directions, each movement accompanied by the unsettling sensation of bones shifting beneath his skin. New unfamiliar appendages would burst out from within him choking him. I wake up in tears and could only make the motions of screaming and make gasping attempts to breathe though my internal screams were more deafening than any I could ever make even if I could scream. NEVER. I can't sleep again. I had plenty of Nightmares before and all of those were nothing. This is what a true nightmare was like. Ponies could not even imagine such horrors on their own. I no longer fear anything anypony would call a monster because now I know what they look like. I trot on eating an apple. I didn't feel hungry and gagged each time I tried to eat, but I managed to force half of it down. I trot and trot only taking breaks but never sleeping. I know I'll get there eventually. Just need to... Trot... Trot some more... Keep trotting... And.... I would... Arrive. Here I am. I did it. I am at the gates. The pristine marble gates is shattered from King Sombra's initial invasion. I trot through. I look around and... I am confused. I see that apart from where King Sombra fought... There aren't really any other signs of destruction. Wasn't there supposed to be a monster that supposedly leveled buildings? Something is wrong. I... There was a monster. After that nightmare, I am certain the only thing that would scare ponies even after the promise of protection by the powerful Starlight Glimmer would be a real monster. It is so quiet... I... am tired... The only thing keeping me going is the fear of sleeping and so I must stay focused... There is only one more thing for me to check out. I am isolated. Whatever ponies haven't already fleed or died have been enslaved already. I won't be dooming more innocent ponies. I walked over to my previous home. I saw that pretty much all the pieces of the shattered remains of Luna and Celestia were gone, probably scavaged or disposed of. If there was a time to mourn it was now. And so... I cried and cried... I was alone. There is nopony going to save the day. I cried so much that my vision blurred and I realized I was passing out. I reach out a hoof. I didn't want to return to that Nightmare. I don't know if I'll be able to make it out again. I feel something in my hoof. Through my failing sight, I see that it was... A petrified horn. I clutch it tightly to my chest. I pray that somehow Luna would come to save me. I know somehow that... If I were to go back to that Nightmare again alone... I would not be waking up. Author's Note Chapter 2 has been rewritten. Sorry for the delays. Chapter 4 SoulI was swallowed by darkness. A monster. A roar reverberates across Canterlot. Everypony left not under Sombra's control couldn't help but look in that direction. Sombra himself steps outside. He wasn't sure what he was looking at. He had heard about there being a monster in Canterlot that everypony feared, but he had thought they were talking about him. Something about the looming monstrosity that shifts and changes form as if it couldn't decide what it wanted to be, irks him. "Go and get rid of that eye sore, my slaves. There is no room in my rule for two monsters," King Sombra says causally pointing a hoof to the monster. The enslaved ponies march on fearlessly. Meanwhile, the survivors left in Canterlot who banded together as a resistance also took action. They had heard the rumors of a monster that appeared in Canterlot shortly after King Sombra invaded and disappeared soon after he succeeded. They had prepared for this moment and one of the ponies rushed outside. "HEY! You beast! I'm over here!" shouts the pony. The monster bends backward and grows a large singular crimson eye and a multitude of spiderlike limbs, some organic, some mechanical, some of an inky goo. It chases after the pony who runs faster then they had ever run in their lives. It chased them before falling into a massive pit. Several unicorns show up and start pelting it with magic. One reckless earth pony grabbed a sharpened broomstick and leaped into the air to stab it in the eye. "SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!" I am in a void of pure black. My hooves have melded into my own chest. I have become a living candle wick and my soul is the flame lit above my head. I can't see anything, but I can feel it. Thousands of eyes. Then I feel it. A soft breeze at first which makes my soul dance in the wind.... Then the wind came from all sides. Blowing. They were blowing. My life... My soul... Flickering and sputtering..."Nooo!" I wanted to scream. I felt like a trick candle that was being blown on all sides over and over. My will alone was keeping the hungering winds from extinguishing my soul. "Woooosh...." "Phoooooo" "Wooooooo...." My soul flickers and falters. Even a trick candle can't be lit forever. For once in my dreams I was able to scream in anguish. My body wick is dripping and melting and so is my pitiful resolve. My soul gets put out "SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!" What was that? That wasn't the scream of a pony. Something is making the monsters draw back from me. It brought me hope. My flame reignites. My little hope. That's it. That's all I have left. My will to continue is at it's end. I desperately try to cling to that hope... "These shades are not meant to be fought. Thy hope is all that remains of thee. The endless despair and the darkest end await thee with but a breath. Why doth thou persist extending thy anguish? Thy end will be most painful and terrifying yet quick. Be not mute in thy own dreams. Speak foal." an ancient yet familiar voice orders "..." "Thou doth not know? That shan't do at all. Thy life is over. Thou died when King Sombra ripped thy heart. Fearth not any longer the shades. Thou carries with thee a piece of me. I shalt guard thy dreams." For once I speak my first word with my own mouth even if it was a dream, "Luna?" "Art thou talking about the princess of the night? The mare of the moon? A better question is who art thou? Thou art not a colt. Not anymore. What art thou?" The dream ends abruptly and I can see a light which I reach out towards with my little hoof. The monster thrashes around and bulges before throwing up Medkit. It grabs his hind hoof in a blind thrashing tearing into his leg four large scratch-like chunks of flesh are ripped from him. "Leave that colt of mine alone! DIE!" shouts a unicorn stallion who raises a royal guard spear and throws it into the maw of the spider creature straight into its heart. "Med Kit!" Is that... My dad? But... How can he be alive? How can I be alive? That tiny insignificant ember of hope that was my soul in a hurricane's wind managed to remain lit? Is this a dream? A cruel form of torment by dangling what I wish was real?.............. I do not know if I could trust anypony. But I'm too emotionally and spiritually tired. I collapse into his hooves. "Med Kit....... You are still alive..... I searched for you for hours... I had given up hope... You are so pale... Your eyes... So hungry..." says my father as he brushes a hoof across my face moving the mane out of my face. "Captain Solar Star? That colt came out of that monster. Do you know him?" asked the earth pony who had also fought the monster. "He's my son. Med Kit. Quickly, go get supplies! I need to patch his... Leg?" my father drifts off as he looks back at my hind hoof as it is fully healed. Was I even wounded? I didn't feel anything. I was so spiritually drained when I woke up I couldn't feel anything for a while..... I.... Want to stay like this... I quickly use hoof language to convey that I just want to be held. My father responded immediately hugging me tightly. This is so wonderful... I cry. I cry for all the sorrow I had been surrpressing. All the joy that I felt at the moment. I let it all out. I knew this could not last. There is more than one monster. It would be searching for me. They wanted something from me. They wanted the gem. I desperately wanted to stay here. But I had come to distance myself from those I wanted to protect. I signed to my father that I must go. I can't stay. "Oh no. I'm not letting you go. Not again. I can't bear to lose you again... Med Kit... I swear.... Somehow... We'll defeat King Sombra... And then we can go back to living a normal life. Just you and your papa." I nod. But I will not be staying. My hope has been renewed. I might not be in a nightmare, but I know that my soul is still just a tiny exposed flame in a night's wind that could go out at any moment and hope is the only thing keeping me going and not losing my sense of self. Author's Note Sorry for any mistakes. Chapter 5: FatherAuthor's Note I'll explain my inconsistent speech writing style with Med Kit with him having Depersonalization disorder. Losing his touch with reality sometimes he narrates his own actions and sometimes he doesn't. Chapter 5: Father King Sombra throws objects around the throne room in pure frustration using his magic. By the end, it looked like a hurricane had gone through the large room. "How have my slave army not found the gem that is LITERALLY radiating malice from the strongest dark magic in Equus?! It was RIGHT HERE in Canterlot! I had the Alicorn amulet my HOOVES! It fell only briefly!" King Sombra growled. Seeing as there is not much left to destroy he takes his anger out on one of his enslaved guards blasting them with his dark Umbrum magic that peeled away their flesh for a few seconds before leaving behind a pile of bones. "Hahaha. Oh that was entertaining. A fine use for a common slave. Now hold on a minute! I think I got it!" He trots over to Celestia's formal throne and sits on it with a hoof supporting the side of his face as he thinks back during his fight with the two alicorn sisters. "When it fell, the closest pony to it was.... Oh. Clever colt. HAHAHAHA! But foolish nonetheless! I'll retrieve it from your corpse!" Sombra thinks to himself. "GUARDS!" An entire battalion gathers at his command mindlessly obedient. Sombra uses his magic to destroy the stained glass mural of the Mane Six and remake it into the image of Med Kit. "Find this colt and bring him to me dead or alive." Sombra demands and just as they came Sombra's slave army trots off to do his will. "Even if you are alive foolish colt, you won't last long. Only somepony who embraced Dark magic can handle the corruption from what you stole." Back at Med Kit "Med Kit, we are going. We are leaving Equestria," Solar Star said to Med Kit despite his earlier statement about fighting Sombra. What? I... Don't understand... My dad said were going to stay and fight. I... Don't get it. "Sigh.... I was a captain of the royal guard of the Day guard... My duty was to Equestria.... To the Princesses.... But... Most importantly... To you. But now Equestria is burning, Princesses are dead, and the six mare heroes are gone... But You... You were the only thing left for me to fight for... When I heard you were in the district that was attacked.... I swore I would butcher that son of a Umbrum." ... Is that... Possible? To... Leave Equestria? COWARD......What's wrong with me... Dad is not a coward... I... Might not be his little colt if I keep changing... I'm sorry Equestria.... I just want to be with my papa... Their ears perk up and they can hear the sound of lots of hoof steps. "DAMN IT! They shouldn't be this aggressive! FUCK!!!" curses his father under his breath. Solar Star picks up Med Kit and puts him onto his back. He hopes the rest of the resistance troops can buy them time but the moment Sombra's enslaved army sees the colt they ignore the resistance entirely and chase after them. "W-WHAT?! Why are they all after me?!" Solar Star shouts before stopping. .... No.... My father is going to fight.... He'll die... They.... Are after me..... We'll both die.... shuts eyes Please.... Grant me the strength to run.... Med Kit's heart pounded as a surge of energy crackled through him, igniting a painful, unstoppable transformation. His legs quivered, muscles bulging and sinews snapping before reforming into powerful, sinewy limbs. Hooves split and reshaped into sharp claws. His spine bristled, dark fur thickening protectively as his tail elongated, providing newfound agility and balance. Despite the searing agony of each change, his determination to escape overpowered his fear. Med Kit leaped forward, his newly formed body propelling him, each stride fueled by a primal need for freedom. He easily jumped up on a roof to evade them planning for them to come after him and leave his father alone All the determination drains from Solar Star's face, "What.... A Changeling Spy...?" Solar Storm drops his weapon and drops to the ground with tears rolling down his face. Med Kit looks back and sees the face of his father. It suddenly dawns on him that there truly is no "monster" in Canterlot coming after him. He was the monster. And his father no longer could see him for his own colt. He wanted to scream and beg and explain, but he could only roar in anguish when he heard a crunch. He looks down and sees that they had beheaded his father who they thought was aiding his escape. Med Kit starts to cry tears of black ichor as he sees his father’s lifeless body. A silent scream tore from his throat, and his body began to tremble, surging with a feral rage. His transformation was instant, his form swelling with monstrous power as he launched himself into the midst of King Sombra’s battalion. His claws slashed through the air, ripping through armor, flesh, and bone with barbaric force. Soldiers fell around him, their cries of pain and terror drowned out by the thunderous force of Med Kit's assault. He moved like a shadow, swift and relentless, each strike fueled by his unyielding grief and wrath. As he tore through the ranks, his eyes locked onto each target with a predator's focus, his newfound strength and agility making him an unstoppable force. Med Kit had cursed his silence when all he wanted to do was to scream. And scream he did. Med Kit's scream was more deafening than any war cry and ruptured the eardrums of all the ponies nearby, a haunting testament to the depth of his pain. With every soldier he felled, the ground was stained with the blood of those who had taken his father from him and yet it wasn't enough. Never enough, and Med Kit fought on, driven by the indomitable will to avenge. He could not feel the spears piercing his hide nor the bleeding from the slashes. The fight would end with all of them dead, but to Med Kit, all he could do was just make a monstrous wail that would make anypony shiver. Eventually, anger gave way to sorrow and slowly his monstrous form would be undone and all he could do was hug his father's body. "What art thou Med Kit?" asked the voice in his head that sounded like Luna. "A Monster"... "Perhaps. But thou hath the power to make thy will achieved. Thou perhaps knowth not the power of Grogar. But perhaps thou has heard of Nightmare Moon. Thy inner monologue and narration irritates me. Speak plainly in thy mind for thou were born mute, not brain dead." "I lost my father... I would give up anything for Nightmare Moon's power if it would bring him back...." Med Kit replies mentally. "REJOICE! For all the eternal night shall last FOREVER. Thou hath collected Luna's horn. Nightmare Moon was Luna's shadow. A shadow given life through the magic of Grogar's gem which we used in the alicorn amulet. I art Luna's Shadow-" "SHUT UP! I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR STUPID BACKSTORY! I JUST WANT MY DAD!!!" he screams mentally trying to ignore the voice and grieve. "Thou art a child... If thou dies then Luna's/my remaining existence is forever erased. I shall help thou. If thou wants thy father back. Will it to be so. A pony's soul remains in the body for a short time. I'll put up with " I stopped. I realized now that... this fragment of Luna was helping me. keeping in check the evil corruption. All those Transformations were extreme reactions to my will without control... Med Kit spoke mentally trying to activate the power intentionally, "This time... I know what I want... I want my father back... I DEMAND THIS POWER TO GIVE ME BACK MY FATHER!" Med Kit could see his father's soul. He picked up up with his little hooves. He could feel the warmth of his father. His father could feel his pained soul. He needed a vessel. With guidance from the voice, he ripped off the shadows of everything nearby and cut his own hoof causing him to bleed black ichor as the final ingredient. Solar Star appeared as a black, tall, and lanky, form that had tendrils forming from all over, and vaguely resembled an equine with a pony's skull for a head with giant antler. But in Med Kit's eyes. He didn't see a monster. He saw his father. It reaches out and hugs him holding him close and to its chest like how his father used to do before he was captain of the day royal guards. Med Kit lets himself be taken as he feels tired from the use of the highest and most powerful kind of dark magic multiple times. It cries black Ichor. It didn't see Med Kit as a monster. It was its colt. It loved him. It had doubted him when he was a pony and as a father it was ashamed for making Med Kit feel abandoned. It made him feel like a monster. And so... It would accept it's new form. A monster form for a monster father who dared to think their own child was a monster. It didn't want to run away now. It will be the best father... Chapter 6: Father of MonstersSomething has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.
Chapter 1: Fall of CanterlotI was there when it happened.
