Our Name Across The Multiverse: 10 years later
Epilogue 5: Lost
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Where is she?" sighed Heat, as she searched from above the skies. "When we became stuck here, Bolt has just been racing across Equestria and not been helping with fixing this universe at all..." Heat stopped, crossing her arms in a huff.
Heat sighed loudly and returned in her search for Bolt the Pegasus as she flew above the Ponyvilles skyline, looking around, trying to find her, but with no luck. Heat could see the black and burned land caused by the black water that Rainbow Dawn summoned, and it was so large that it spread from Ponyville and almost reached New Ponyville which was in front of the great Neighagra Falls, which became New Ponyville Great Dam. She could see unicorns, earth ponies, and the Ruru Deer tribe, trying to understand why plant life stopped growing and how to undo the damage that the black water had caused.
"Oh!" said Heat, seeing a very familiar face among the research team down below. She quickly flew down and greeted her friend. "Aaira!"
Aaira stood up after scanning the ground and her H.U.L.L suit opened up and went into the back collar, revealing her face. Just like Heat, she was an alternate universe of Twilight Sparkle but she's a human than a pony like Heat is.
"Hey Heat, still looking for Bolt I take it?" Aaira asked, turning off the scanner and putting it away.
"Yep. You guys haven't seen her?" asked Heat.
"Sorry, Heat. We've been focused on trying to figure out how to undo the damage that the black water had created and Twilah said it has to do with time or something." Aaira and Heat looked at the blackened land, seeing the damage up close. "I'm just an engineer, so I don't know anything about magic but whatever it is, it's not good as you can see. I feel pretty useless here, Heat, and the only reason I'm here is because I can help with the recovery operation but..." Aaira shook her head in sadness. "At least I can help with rebuilding destroyed farmhouses and barns."
Heat looked back at her, realizing something. "By the way, where is Amelia Jarvis? I thought she would be helping out here?"
Aaira looked at Heat, giving her a shrug.
"No clue where she went. To be honest, now I think about it, where did she go? That woman...I hope she didn't let her dark thoughts return to her. The last thing we need is someone killing themselves after what happened with the twins..." Aaira sighed quietly as she remembered what happened a few days ago.
Heat became quiet too, as the two just looked across the non-burned landscape. It was a few minutes until Heat spoke up again.
"It feels so unfair."
"I know," agreed Aaira.
Heat could feel tears building up. "We only saw them for a few minutes before they sacrificed themselves to allow Spark to be free from that prison she created for herself. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for her, and she deserved to live like them and not in some prison. Because of her sister's actions, she was able to not only stop Rainbow Dawn but also save her, but those twins...we only saw them for a few minutes before they died. We couldn't even speak to them and they had grown so much from the last time we saw them...they were just little fillies. I wanted to hug and talk to them, and I'm sure you did too."
"Yeah," replied Aaira, trying to keep her emotions inside. "But...but...what can we do about it? We can't change what happened. At least we saw them before they left us..."
It became quiet again between the two, until Heat spoke up once again, saying she should be getting back in looking for Bolt.
"Let's meet up later for a cup of coffee. I think we need it," suggested Aaira, who waved goodbye.
Heat agreed to that and said goodbye to her. She left the blackened land and headed off in a random dictation. She kept flying until she thought she spotted a blue blur racing across the open field.
"Is that...?" Heat flew off in that direction, and sure enough, there was Bolt racing across the fields, trying to race the wind. "BOLT!"
Bolt turned her head, seeing Heat was trying to catch up with her. She gave her a cocky grin and increased her speed.
"You won't beat me, Heat! No one can beat the fastest pegasus in the multiverse!" she laughed.
Heat, however, wasn't having any of that and pushed her fire magic to the max, catching up to Bolt.
"BOLT! WHERE YOU BEEN!?" she shouted at her.
"What are you talking about, Heat!?" Bolt laughed.
"You've been gone for days! What were you doing this whole time? Where have you been?" Heat asked, but she got no answer.
Bolt didn't slow down, but she kept looking straight ahead.
"I...I...I had something important to do, okay," Bolt finally said.
"More important than helping your friends and fixing this universe? We are guests here until we find a way back home, so we need to pay our respects by helping them, Bolt."
Bolt didn't respond, and this was starting to anger Heat.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you, Bolt," shouted Heat.
Bolt said nothing still, instead, she increased her speed even more. This made Heat start to lose ground and she was falling behind.
"Wait, Bolt, stop! Come back!"
But it was no use. Bolt was already long gone. Heat was so mad and tried to increase her speed, but her magic was exhausted, and couldn't catch up to Bolt, and after a while, she could no longer see her. This made Heat unbelievably mad and shouted a curse word, which echoed across the plains. She sighed and started to wonder why Bolt was acting like this.
"This is unlike her! She's always the first one to help anyone in need, no matter what! Now, she's acting like she doesn't care, and it doesn't make any sense to me!" she said, scratching her head but it hit her. "She's probably still grieving, just like the rest of us..." but she shook her head, even more mad. "Still, she can grieve and still help out. I and others have been doing that, so why can't she do that too?"
Heat decided to go after Bolt one more time but this time, she summoned the Harmony Diamonds which spun around her and transformed her into her Blazing Form, Burning Heat. Within seconds, she took off like a rocket and went after Bolt.
Bolt looked back and didn't see Heat and sighed. She stopped in a large open field, looking around the place, wondering if it was a good place.
"I wonder-," she said, flying a few miles, but she was interrupted when Heat slammed into her. "WHOA!"
The two were sent tumbling to the ground. Bolt was able to recover, and she was about to give Heat a piece of her mind but was stopped by a fireball hitting in front of her.
"Don't even think about it, Bolt," said Heat in a cold tone.
Bolt smirked and just lay down, making Heat a bit confused.
"What? Taking a nap now?"
"No, not taking a nap. Just lying down." Bolt was trying to make Heat mad, which worked as she was already pissed at her.
"Bolt, tell me, what are you doing all the way out here? Is it because you are grieving like the rest of us? If so, I understand but like I said before, we are guests here and we must-"
Bolt opened one eye and had a somewhat sad expression on her face. "Help? I have been helping all across Equestria." She opened the rest of her eyes and sat up. "A universe almost coming to an end can cause damage and problems in the smallest of places that others won't ever see. I like ran across these very tiny pony-like fairies, called Breezies. The chaos that this universe was in, somehow created a wildfire and was burning their home, so I put out the fire, saving their home and the forest from being destroyed." Bolt smiled, taking out the small gifts she was given to her from the Breezie Queen. "They were thankful, and they gave me a bunch of cool stuff." She was about to explain each item to her but Bolt could see Heat was quiet and transformed back into her normal self. "Something wrong?"
Heat sat down, realizing something. "I haven't thought that other places might of needed help, and I feel so foolish for that. I guess...I guess I was so focused on fixing Ponyville and other towns that I never even thought about the smaller creatures who might have needed help." she looked at Bolt with a sad smile. "But that's so like you Bolt, to be thinking about others than yourself. That's what makes you, you. A caring and selfless soul."
Bolt's face went a little red, but she smiled at her friend and sat down. They both just looked over the grassy field, feeling and seeing the wind blowing through the grass, creating a soothing and calming atmosphere.
"It's nice. This place," commented Heat. "So calm, peaceful, and...and..."
"We didn't get a chance to talk to them, never got to hear how much they had grown, never got to hug them, never got to see them smile, and never got to say goodbye..." said Bolt, making Heat look at her. "It's another reason why I have been running across Equestria, the wind carries Braver's story. In the places I went, I met folks who mistook me for Dash and asked me if Braver was doing well. I asked them how they knew her and every place I went, it was the same." Bolt looked at Heat, crying. "Braver took our speech to heart and used that to help others in this universe...even when she knocked or destroyed something because of how much she's a klutz and her own strength." She let out a soft laugh, but it was filled with sorrow.
Heat felt her pain and put her hoof on Bolt's shoulder. "I know, I spoke to Blitz's friends and she was the same as her sister. They both took our speech and helped others...and they grew up to be great young mares..."
Heat and Bolt hugged each other, wanting to comfort each other.
"I wonder if Spark will ever return here? I want to speak to her at least," said Bolt, looking up at the blue, seeing a rainbow in the sky, which brought a smile to her face.
Before Heat could say anything, they could suddenly feel a powerful magic energy coming from New Ponyville. The two had sensed this before, ten years ago.
"Can't be! That's Breaker's magical energy, no!? But the twins are..." Heat stopped, quickly turning to see Bolt already transformed into her super form.
"It's Spark! Something happened to her! Hurry Heat!" shouted Bolt, blasting off.
Heat transformed and quickly followed behind her, both racing toward New Ponyville as fast as their super forms would allow.
Moments ago, Aaira was still doing research on the damaged landscape when she heard a familiar voice calling out to her.
"Huh? Oh, Berry and Star!"
Above her, she could see Berry, who was carrying a basket of food, and behind her was little Star the tiny living moon.
"Aaira! Sorry it took a while, finally got to you on the lunch rounds orders," explained Berry, who handed her a sandwich and some apple cider.
"Thanks, Berry. How's it going on your side with the others?"
Berry gave her a smile. "AJ and April should be done doing their rounds in handing out food. Again, sorry it took a while to get your food." Berry looked at the simple cheese sandwich. "I'm still a little shock you humans can't eat normal hay sandwiches. To be honest, that's a big shame."
"We have different dietary needs than you, Berry. It's a simple fact. But anyway..." Aaira could see Star eyeing her meal. "You okay, Star?"
Star sighed and hovered around Aaira.
"I'm jealous, you know!" she pouted, looking away.
Aaira raised an eyebrow at her, not understanding what she meant.
"Why?"
Star lowered herself to them. "You know why! I don't have a need for eating and sleeping, since I'm a living moon but being in your mind all those years. It left me a craving for food." She sighed loudly "I wonder what food tastes like...heck, what is tasting even like!"
Aaira and Berry laughed at her.
"When did you get to be such a drama queen, Star?" joked Berry, putting her hoof on Star's moon surface.
Aaira petted Star as well. "Shame you can't transform into a human or something. That way, you can have a body of your own and can eat and sleep."
Star looked at her, a bit hopeful.
"Do you think it's possible, Aaira? You're an engineer and can build all sorts of crazy things."
Aaira shook her. "I am but I can't build you a human body, you know that."
Star pouted at the answer and Berry patted her once again.
"Cheer up, Star! Maybe one day you become a real human!" said Berry in a cheerful voice.
"Maybe...but still! I want a body!" whined Star.
"Stop whining," said Aaira, taking a bite out of her sandwich. "I swear, you act like a little kid sometimes."
Star sighed, not happy about the answer but decided not to complain anymore.
As the three were gonna talk about the clean-up operation, Berry and Star sensed something coming from New Ponyvile.
"What is that!? It feels so familiar!" shouted Star, quickly hovering in the sky and looking in the direction where New Ponyville is.
Aaira felt a little worried as she bit her cheese sandwich. "What's wrong?" She could see the unicorns all looking in the direction that Star and Berry were looking at, making her even more worried. "Girls? What's going on?"
"This magical energy...it can't be...it feels like...oh no!" shouted Berry, realizing what the energy was.
Before Aaira could ask anything, she heard someone calling out to her. She turned and was happy to see Amelia running up to her but noticed her H.U.L.L seemed somewhat badly damaged.
"Amelia!? Where the fuck have you have you been? AJ told me you disappeared a day ago, so where the-" but Aaira couldn't finish as Amelia grabbed her shoulders.
"It's a long story and I'll explain later but listen to me, we need to head to New Ponyville. Spark is in danger!"
"Spark!?" shouted Aaira and the other two looked at them.
"It's her alright but it was like ten years ago, when we faced off Breaker! This is Breaker's magical energy!" explained Berry, quickly taking out her wand and creating a bubble around Aaira and Amelia. "You can explain what's going on as we get to the town!"
Amelia nodded, bracing herself as Berry picked them up and soar toward New Ponyville, with Star right behind them.
In Fluttershy's cabin, Fluttershy and Faith watched as Flash and Captain Applecore were bringing in the animal food.
"There ya go, Fluttershy. Last of the food supplies you wanted. I think the animals should be set for a week," explained Captain Applecore, smiling at her.
"Thanks, Cap," she replied, returning the smile.
Flash took the last bags from the large crate that Derpy had brought. "This is a lot, but I guess it's necessary. After all, you do run an animal sanctuary." She set the last few bags down, wiping her brow. "Whew, that was the last of them, Shy. Anything else?"
Fluttershy smiled and said no but she could see the upset look on Flash's face.
"Is anything wrong, Flash?" she asked, making Flash shake her head and smile at her.
"No, nothing wrong. It's just, well...it's been a long day." Flash could see the concerned look on the pegasus' face.
Faith joined in, asking if there was anything wrong.
"If something is wrong, you can tell us."
Fluttershy suddenly gasps and flies to the kitchen window and looks out it. "Oh dear, is something not to your liking!?" She could see the small encampment where Flash and others like her, were staying until they found a way back home.
Flash quickly told her that everything was fine. "Shy, really, it's fine. Everything's perfect. We have plenty of food, and the water is clean." Flash looked out the window, looking at the camp, and smiled. "You didn't need to house all of us, you know?"
Fluttershy waved it off. "Don't worry about that. It's my pleasure and I don't mind it at all."
"Besides, we had nowhere else to go, not until Dr. Wonder regains her powers or someone finds something to get us back home," commented Captain Applecore.
Faith nodded in agreement, but she could sense the sad aura surrounding Flash.
"Are you sure, Flash?" she asked her, but she could see that Flash wasn't saying anything.
"Flash, is something bothering you?" asked Applecore.
Flash could see everyone was looking at her with great worry, making her scratch the back of her head, not sure how to explain it. Fluttershy looked back at the window and could see Midnight sitting under a tree and seemed to be in deep meditation.
"Are you worried about Midnight, Flash?"
Flash looked at Fluttershy and gave her a soft nod. "I mean, yeah. I'm a little worried. It's just, since the battle and losing Amazement, she's been a bit...distance, to say the least."
The room went quiet, remembering the death of Amazement. Fluttershy and Faith lowered their heads, but Applecore could see that Flash was holding something back.
"You're not telling us something, Flash, so tell us," said the captain, folding her arms.
Flash sighed and spoke up. "Well, this isn't the first time she acted like this. See, she had an student that she took in and we slowly saw her like our daughter."
Fluttershy and Faith knew where this was going, making the two yellow pegasus ears dropdown.
"Our daughter wanted revenge on the one who hurt her and when she took that person's life, it came back to bite her, and she lost her life for it. Since then, Midnight never took a student under her wing and when she met Amazement, she saw our daughter in her." Flash walked up to the window, seeing Midnight just sitting there. "She saw a second chance in taking Amazement under her wing, to undo the mistakes she did with our daughter. She was able to do that, but... now, Amazement is gone and it's hitting her hard. She blames herself for not protecting her."
The other three looked at each other, feeling sad about the situation.
"I understand what she's going through. It's how I feel, losing Braver," explained Fluttershy, opening her wings and flying to a photo on the wall, which had her and a young Braver who was helping at the animal sanctuary. She took it off the wall and hugged it dearly. "She's truly gone and it hurts so much..."
Fluttershy felt a hoof on her back, turning to see Faith hovering behind her. She could see the tears in her eyes and knew why she was crying too. She was her human counterpart and she lost Blitz, Braver's twin sister. They both lost their nieces and felt the same pain of losing them.
Flash and Applecore watched the two cry but they could hear the front door open, making them turn and see a familiar face.
"Heyo, I'm back!" shouted Tracker, zipping into the kitchen with two pink boxes.
Following right behind, were Pinkie, Maud, and Red, who were still being dragged by the tail by Maud.
"Hope you girls like..." Tracker removed the covers of the pink boxes, revealing fresh donuts and Blarney stones, "Stones and Donuts!"
The four smiled and took some of the tasty treats. Pinkie hopped over to Fluttershy, seeing her eyes were all red like she was crying.
"Fluttershy, are you okay? Did something happen while we were gone?" asked Pinkie, sounding a bit worried.
The two started to talk and soon enough, Pinkie cried a bit as she remembered Braver's death. As the two were talking,
Tracker zipped to the encampment with the pink boxes. She opened one of the tents, revealing Rain and Terra had been cleaning each other sniper rifles.
"You girls want any donuts or stones?"
Rain turned and gave a smile, but Terra kept cleaning Rain's rifle.
"Terra, did you want some donuts or stones?" she repeated, making Terra sigh and lower the gun. "No thanks. I'm not a big donut or stone person...unless you got cheesecake in there," answered Terra, making Rain laugh.
"You and your cheesecake," giggled Rain, accepting a donut. "I'll have one, Tracker."
"Sure thing, Rain," replied Tracker, handing her a donut.
Tracker zipped to the next tent, looking inside and seeing Nightmare, out of her superhero suit and doing push-ups. Nightmare stopped, narrowing her eyes at Tracker.
"Yo Nightmare, want donuts or yummy stones?"
Nightmare said nothing, just looking at her like she was mad for no reason. Tracker blinked a few times and without a word, she slowly closed the flap and left.
"I'm gonna guess, she doesn't want any," said Rain, who saw what happened.
Tracker zipped to the next tent, opening it to see Rarity and Rachel clapping as Enmity were changing her outfit.
"This is amazing! We can just think up an outfit design and you can create it in seconds!" said Rarity, removing the visor from her eyes and handing it to Rachel who put it on. "Terra's ghost visor is not only amazing but it's very fashionable too! I should look into making these as accessories for our outfits."
Rachel nodded, agreeing with her, and could see Enmity's outfit changed to new one. The young AIs were blushing as she had never done anything like this before.
"You're doing wonderful, my darling," said Rarity, making Enmity blush even more.
Rachel looked at the new outfit and smiled, thinking it looked good.
"Yeah, I can see a few adjustments when we make it real but this is great!"
Tracker placed a few donuts and stones on the chair near the entrance and zipped out, leaving them. Rarity and Rachel looked and saw the treats, wondering where they came from.
Tracker zipped to the second last tent, opening it and quickly rewinding time of herself as a giant blast of ice and flames came out of the tent. Tracker returned and looked inside, seeing Penny wearing a dealer hat and shuffling a card deck, while Light Rainbow and Spitflame were in their underwear, as they had to bet their clothes as payment for playing against her in this round of cards. Sitting between the two, was Nova, who was naked now and using her tail to hide her shame but she was still in the match but clearly pissed off.
"DAMN IT! I'M NOT LOSING AGAIN! HERE!" Nova stabbed the table with her twin swords. "I'M BETTING MY WEAPONS! SO CUT THE DECK, YOU MAD MARE!"
Penny smiled and nodded. "Okay, here we go." She cut the deck in half and shuffled the cards once again.
Light signaled Spitflame to lean back and whispered to her. "Who's bright idea was to bring Nova to our card games? She's bad at it than us."
Spitflame sighed. "It was Layla's idea, remember? She wanted Nova to have fun and get to know us better. I don't think this was what she meant, though."
The two went back and grabbed their cards, looking at them.
"I should join next time!" thought Tracker, as she entered the tent and asked the four if they wanted any donuts and stones.
They accepted and thanked her. She dropped them off and zipped to the last tent, but stopped as she could hear yelling from Nova and a cold breeze coming from the tent. Tracker laughed and opened the flap, seeing Dr. Wonder just sitting in the middle of the tent, surrounded by tons of books and scrolls. She was clearly in a deep meditation.
"From looking up how to recover lost magic, it seems to be harder than we thought," explained Grape, who was hovering back and forth, trying to figure something out.
"How so?" asked Tracker, grabbing a book and seeing the weird letters in it.
Grape took notice of Tracker, hovering over her. "Recovering magic is a hard thing to do. There are a lot of different ways of doing it, but it all comes down to the amount of magic that was lost."
Tracker looked at her, not getting it.
Grape sighed and asked her why she was there.
"Oh right!" Tracker showed the remaining donuts and stones. "You want some? It's donuts and stones."
Grape gave a smile and took a donut, while Tracker put the box of food next to Dr. Wonder, in case she wanted any.
"So, I'm guessing it be a while before she can get her magical powers back?" asked Tracker, munching on her donut.
Grape nodded and faced the deep meditation Dr. Wonder.
"How our research and recovery going, it might take months. So it looks like we will be staying here for much longer than we thought."
The two watched and ate their treats, watching Wonder just sitting there like a statue.
Back at Fluttershy's cabin, Flash walked out with a few donuts and headed to the tree that Midnight was under.
"Hey! Want some-"
"No." simply said Midnight in a cold tone.
Flash could see the cold stare from her, making her sit beside her.
"Midnight, it wasn't your fault that Amazement died."
Midnight looked at Flash, giving a cold sad smile. "But it was my fault. I should have been there. If I somehow didn't get suck into that rift that Fayth created, she would be alive right now." Flash could feel the dark energy coming from Midnight's body. "Why!? Why must I lose another student like this? First, it was our daughter, and now her. I feel like a failure!? They were so young, they didn't deserve to die!"
Flash watched her cry, feeling her pain and anger.
"I swear, I'm going to kill Fayth with my bare hands!"
Midnight tried to move but Flash grabbed her and hugged her tightly, keeping her there. Midnight anger completely vanished as only sadness and pain remained. She couldn't say anything else and cried on Flash's chest.
"Let it out, Midnight, let it all out," whispered Flash, hugging her and comforting her.
From the back doorway, Fluttershy could see the two hugging, making her give a soft smile. Seeing a version of Rainbow Dash and Twilight hugging like that made her happy that those two would be together in the endless sea of the multiverse.
"It's sweet, isn't it?" asked Faith, walking to Fluttershy. "It reminds me of Twilah and Dashie."
Fluttershy nodded. "Reminds me of Dash and Twilight." she closed the door and both could see Pinkie and her sister talking to Maud's counterpart and Cap. This made her wonder something as she never really had a chance to speak to her human counterpart.
"I hope this isn't rude or anything, but how different is our lives? I never really had a chance to speak to Blitz unlike the other girls but what Twilight told me, you live far from your town like I do. Do you have an animal sanctuary?" asked Fluttershy, sitting at the kitchen table and drinking a bit of her tea.
Faith giggled at the question. "No, but animals do love being around my cabin but that's because of my child."
Fluttershy nodded. "Oh, you have a child?" To Fluttershy, this wasn't a surprise. Since the multiverse is vast and endless, there clearly is a version of herself who has a family. "Who's the father?"
Faith blushed a bit but her expression became a sad one. "His name is John. He's my universe version of your Discord. That's what John told me anyway."
"I see." Fluttershy simply replied and drank her tea again but her eyes quickly opened up with shock. She even spit out her tea and started to cough. "D-Did you say, DISCORD?!"
Faith could see the surprised expression and gave a small nod.
"H-how!?" was the only thing Fluttershy could think of and ask, as the thought of Discord being her mate was a complete surprise...even if its from different universe.
Faith explained how John moved into town but was a prankster and the town hated him for it. The most chao-filled pranks you could think of, like filling the streets with snakes and spiders, filling the lake with jello, and turning the whole town's signs upside down. Faith chuckled a bit, remembering the memories and the crazy times she had with him when she got to know him.
"But the more we hung out, the more I found myself loving his pranks and chaos, as long as it didn't harm anyone. His pranks always put a smile on my face, no matter how annoyed the others were. He even got the mayor and most of the town to like him and forgive him for all the stuff he had done. Rachel and others still didn't forgive or like him of course, but he's a sweetheart! As Blitz came to live with us, I found out I was pregnant with his child. I wish he was still around to meet him."
Fluttershy's ears perked up, picking up on that last line.
"What do you mean, you wish he was still around?" Faith could see Fluttershy getting mad. "Your Discord better not have left you to raise the child by yourself!"
Faith shook her head, calming Fluttershy a bit.
"No, he didn't. He would never do that."
"Then where is he?"
"Well, he..." Faith sighed with sadness. "He's gone."
"Gone?" repeated Fluttershy, still not catching what Faith meant.
"He...passed away, five years ago in my universe."
Fluttershy couldn't believe what she was hearing. She stood up and grabbed Faith's hooves.
"H-how!?"
Faith closed her eyes, her expression becoming sad and even more pain could be felt from her.
"F-Faith, how did he pass away?"
Faith didn't say anything, as she was in her thoughts and couldn't talk. Fluttershy could see the expression on Faith's face. She removed her hooves from Faith's, realizing she was making her upset by making her talk about him.
"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked that. I'm really sorry, Faith."
Faith didn't respond, as she just sat there, looking at the floor. Fluttershy felt so terrible now, making Faith so upset. She had no idea how her human counterpart was feeling right now...losing the love of your life but she remembered something.
"Faith, I just need to know something and you don't need to answer if you don't want to."
Faith looked up, not saying a word, but Fluttershy continued.
"I-If...if it's okay, can you tell me...he didn't die alone, did he? Was there...someone who was there for him and...did he die...in their arms?"
Faith's eyes opened up with shock. Fluttershy had no idea why she was asking that but...no, she knew why she asked that. Learning from Discord himself, he didn't want to be alone in the future where everyone including her would be gone. She needed to know if this version of Discord wasn't alone during his final moments. She needed to know.
Faith was still in her thoughts, thinking of how to respond. Fluttershy was waiting and hoping she could get an answer. Faith finally gave her answer.
"N-No. He didn't."
Fluttershy could see the sadness and pain in her eyes and could only feel terrible about this. She could tell that Faith herself was there for John's final moments in life.
"I'm sorry..."
"It's okay but why did you want to know if John wasn't alone in the final moments in his life? Does this have something to do with your Discord?"
Fluttershy nodded and asked her to follow her to the basement.
In the basement, Faith watched as Fluttershy trotted over to a huge glowing crystal and faced her.
"This crystal contains my message to Discord. After learning he's scared of having no one in the future after everyone and myself are gone, I wanted to let him know I will always love him and not to worry about the future." She turned to it, touching it. "He will always be loved and have friends who will always be there for him."
Faith smiled, nodding. "Yes, no matter what happens in the future, no one will ever be truly alone."
The two smiled, looking at the crystal.
"If you were there for your Discord in his final moments in life, I know he died knowing he was never alone."
"I hope so, but there is one thing I wish I had told him."
Fluttershy could see the pain and guilt. She placed a hoof on her shoulder, asking her what it was.
"I wish I had told him how much I loved him and how much I didn't want him to go."
Fluttershy said nothing, letting her continue.
"We had a family. We had a son, but...I never told him enough of how much I loved him until he was already gone. He was everything to me, and I didn't say it enough."
Faith broke down and fell to the floor, crying. Fluttershy didn't say a word, but she wrapped her front legs around Faith, holding her and comforting her. As she held Faith, the crystal started to play the message and certain parts caught their attention.
"I know you are because I know you better than anypony else." said the recording Fluttershy as she flapped her wings as fast as she could. Her expression changed from being serious to sad. "Which is why I can tell how hard it's been for you to let go of the pain caused by knowing how this universe's future was changed and how you believe Sunny and the others won't exist. That you believe you'll be alone but you won't be and how do I know that? Because fate isn't written in stone. The future can change; it's our story, not fate. Find that spark! The spark that I left in you, our friends left in you! The spark in your heart is the most powerful magic of all!" Recorded Fluttershy gave a big smile as her eyes kept darting to the crystal and back at the path she was on. "The spark is not just about friendship. The spark gives you strength, a light that won't let you go astray. It's a light of hope that you have! Discord, I'm creating this message for you in the hopes that every time you are so lonely or you feel the need to give up, you can listen back and remind yourself why giving up isn't the answer." Recorded Fluttershy looked up and her expression changed from sadness to happiness as she looked back at the crystal. "I know you hated Braver for these ten years, thinking she took away your future, your happy ending but as I said, we are writing our own stories and not fate. I'm telling you, as long as you never lose hope and stay strong, you will have a future. You will find that happy ending you want. Our stories make us different from the other universe versions of us and that's something we should embrace and never forget. Our stories let us be the best versions of ourselves. I mean, there are billions of different versions of Rainbow Dash in the multiverse but who she wants to be is up to her, no one else, and not fate. If she wants to fly or not, that's her story, her choice. I believe if you stay strong and never give up, you will get what you want. What's written is what you make of it. Your future is not decided, you decide your future. I know you can write the happy ending you always dreamed of." Recorded Fluttershy started to cry. "Lead with your spark, Discord. It will always show you the way...even if I'm not there by your side..." She wiped her tears away, smiling. "I will always live on in your spark and that's the spark of hope and friendship." Recorded Fluttershy ended her recording, her words echoing throughout the room.
Faith faced Fluttershy, asking her a simple question.
"Where is your Discord anyway? I haven't seen him at all."
Fluttershy was silent for a moment before answering.
"I don't know where he is at, but I have a good guess."
Faith didn't pry and the two headed back upstairs, only to see everyone looking out the window. Both rush to it and see something in the distance, where New Ponyville is at. Terra and the others entered the cabin.
"That energy! It's Breaker but the twins are...gone...unless..." said Terra, looking out the window and then at the others. "Something happened to Spark!"
Everyone group up and headed toward New Ponyville but Captain Applecore and Fluttershy stopped Dr. Wonder from joining them.
"Why are you stopping me!? I can help!"
"You will be more of a liability doctor. Without your magic and being blind, you won't be much help," said Captain Applecore, trying not to sound rude but she had to make her stay.
Wonder wanted to argue but sighed. "I guess you're right."
Applecore patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, we will help Spark. Stay here, we will be back soon." Applecore ran off with super speed, leaving behind a dirt cloud.
Fluttershy stayed behind and looked back at the cabin. Seeing Wonder not following and sitting down on the doorstep. Fluttershy flew away, catching up with the others.
Wonder clutched her fists, as she hated being useless and not being able to do anything.
"Spark...stay strong. Your sisters would want that..."
She waited...not noticing a purple-cloaked figure behind her. The figure took out a very old book and opened it. it turned and could see a shadow figure looking at them. It started to move its arms like it was talking to the cloaked figure. The cloaked figure spoke back to it.
"Watchers are meant to observe, not interfere. We aren't fate itself, we are just readers and recorders of the multiverse." the cloaked figure summoned a feather pen and placed the tip into the book. "But sometimes, you shouldn't watch but participate. After all, it is a Watcher's job to observe and keep the multiverse stories safe and protected from outsiders. Let's hope this leads to a good ending." the cloaked figure wrote in the book and the shadow figure vanished as if it was never there. "Let's hope I'm not wrong." as they wrote in the book, a golden seed flew out of the book and went toward Wonder. It headed between her eyes and then vanished. "May the spark lead you."
The cloaked figure put the book away and walked off, vanishing.
Moments ago before Spark was becoming Breaker, Lucy and the others watched as Dawn finally put everything back to normal inside of the ice cream shop. After she was done, Dawn was going to leave but she felt her hand being pulled on.
"What the hell?" She turned and was shocked to see Lucy, holding her hand and smiling.
"Where do you think you are going?"
Dawn tsk loudly. "Far away from here! Like Spark wanted."
Dawn forced Lucy's hand off and walked off to the door....only for Lucy to jump in front of her, her arms spread out. Dawn's eye twitched, annoyed.
"What the fuck are you doing!?"
"You can't go, not after what happened with Spark."
"I can and will."
Lucy shook her head. "No, you can't! Spark only said that to you because she feels she shouldn't be happy!" Lucy's face became sad. "She thinks she doesn't deserve you, seeing how Luster and myself are feeling after we lost the loves of our lives." Lucy lowered her arms and looked at the floor. "She thinks she killed her sisters, Braver and Blitz. Thinking she stole their lives and doesn't deserve her happiness."
Dawn had a confused look on her face. "...what the hell are you talking about? What happened to Spark's sisters? She always went on about them but when I asked where they were, she just dodged or ignored my question."
Lucy looked up at Rainbow Dawn, trying to head back her tears. "It's a long story...I can tell you over some ice cream?"
Dawn didn't want to say yes but seeing how Lucy was crying, she nodded.
"Sure, I'll have some ice cream. You better tell me everything!"
Lucy wiped her tears and smiled. The two returned to the shop owner, who quickly handed them whatever ice cream they wanted. Luna and the others turned to each other and all nodded. They too ordered some ice cream, while every creature that was still there, entered the shop they could see that trouble had ended.
The two sat down at the counter and Lucy started to tell Dawn everything about Spark, her sisters, what happened a week ago in her universe time, and why Spark broke up with Dawn.
Dawn ordered a huge bowl of ice cream and slowly ate it as she listened to the story. She stopped and she gripped the spoon so hard that it bent.
"Spark, you fucking idiot..."
Lucy watched as Dawn placed her hands on her face.
"No, she isn't the stupid one here, she's going through a hard time right now with all that..." Dawn quickly slammed the counter with her fist, shocking Lucy. "I'm the fucking idiot here! I should have noticed something was wrong with her when she ignored my questions about her family! Why didn't I say anything!? Anything to make her open up with me!? Hell, I didn't know she was a four-legged pony!" She lowered her head, blushing. "...I wonder if she is just as cute in that form..." She picked up the bowl, poured the remaining ice cream into her mouth, and ate it in one go. She tossed the bowl to the wall behind the shop owner, making them scared. "She's always there for me! To comfort me! Make me feel better! Why didn't I do the same for you!?"
"Don't blame yourself, it isn't your fault," said Lucy, trying to make her feel better.
Dawn shook her head. "No, it is. Maybe it was best that she dumped my stupid ass. She deserves someone better than me."
Lucy didn't respond. She looked at the ice cream shop owner, who had a look of worry and shock. Luna, the others, and the rest of the ice cream customers were worried about Dawn.
"Dawn...it isn't your fault. You didn't know and you didn't have a clue of her pain." Lucy placed a hand on her shoulder, but Dawn didn't move or say anything. "Plus, she isn't thinking straight. She's hurt and upset at herself, for thinking she's the reason Luster and myself are hurting when it's not. Blitz and Braver gave their lives for her..." Dawn slowly looked at her, seeing the sadness on her face. "She didn't take them away from us when they chose to do what they did. They chose to do what they did because they loved her. They want her to have a real life and yeah, it hurts so much. Knowing Blitz is gone from my life but..." Lucy took a deep breath and smiled. "I wouldn't trade the time I spent with her for the world. She was a great friend, a great superhero, and..." tears started to form in her eyes. "The love of my life."
Dawn stared at her, watching as Lucy started to cry.
"If you're going to let go, you have to understand that Spark is going through a hard time right now and she's not going to think right or listen to you or us." Lucy placed her hand on her own heart. "But I know she still loves you, and you still love her. Even though she isn't thinking right, she still loves you because of how much it hurt her to see you just leave like that, without putting up a fight. Just like how I know that Blitz would have still loved me and I still love her even if she's gone. I may be hurting now, but I still want Spark to live the life she earned, a life where she can have the love she wanted because that's what her sisters would have wanted, for her to be happy."
Dawn slowly stood up and walked out of the ice cream shop, without saying a word.
Lucy sighed and the others got up to join her. They watched as Dawn stood there, looking up at the blue sky. Lucy stepped forward, she was about to ask what she was doing but before she could, Dawn turned and spoke to her.
"Yeah, I love her! I'm head over heels for her, no matter what! I'm not going to give up on her! Not when she's suffering because of her stupidity! Not after what you told me!"
Dawn looked at the sky again and started to shake her fists.
"But what can I say to her? I'm never good with words!"
"You could say what's in your heart," said Luna, walking over to her. "We will help."
Dawn turned and was surprised that the others were helping her. She never met them in her life but yet, here were these strangers that wanted to help her, help her get her love back.
"But, why? You don't know me." she gave them a cold stare. "Unless you want something out of this?"
Lucy could see how this version of herself was so distrustful of others.
"You don't have to trust us, but I do have something to offer," said Lucy, trying to calm Dawn.
"And what is that?" asked Dawn, crossing her arms and narrowing her eyes.
Lucy walked over and whispered something into Dawn's ear, which made her eyes widen and blush deep red.
"Seriously, you can do that!? No lie?"
Lucy nodded and backed away. "Of course, you are a version of me after all. I'm not lying."
Dawn's eyes were sparkling with excitement.
"Then, let's go get my girl back!"
Lucy and the others nodded. Raising their hooves and fists into the air, they cheered loudly, only Dawn wasn't joining in and just crossing her arms.
"Why the hell are you guys cheering!?"
"Well, you know, as humans put it, to pump yourselves up," said Celesta, smiling at her.
Dawn just rolled her eyes and groaned. While Celestia walked up to Lucy and whispered into her ear.
"What did you offer her, Lucy?"
Lucy smiled and whispered back to her.
"Something that can make her very happy and like I said, she's a version of me! Even more so when she made that comment back in the shop."
Celestia didn't understand and before she could ask what she meant, she and every magical user quickly sensed something and faced where the park was.
"This raw magical energy! I sensed this before when friend Braver was bottling up all of her trauma a few days ago!" shouted Luna.
Celestia's face became serious as she remembered something from Twilight. "Twilight told me that her daughter, Braver, and her twin were once a being called Breaker, a powerful magical bio-weapon." she turned to the others but looked at Luna and then at Lucy. "If Spark is under heavy stress, just like Braver was. Then that will mean-" But she couldn't finish as everyone could sense powerful near them, making them turn to Dawn, who had a powerful aura around her. It wasn't magic but felt like it.
Dawn had her eyes closed and her ears twitching. She was picking up something and she could hear Spark's crying screaming voice.
"I'M BREAKER OF THINGS! THAT'S RIGHT! MY REAL NAME WAS STAR BREAKER! BREAKER OF WORLDS AND STARS! A MONSTER, A WEAPON THAT WAS CREATED TO DESTROY ANYTHING!" Dawn's pony ears started to twitch harder and her fist started to shake. "THE ONLY REASON I WAS BORN INTO THIS WORLD WAS TO DESTROY IT!"
Dawn shot open her eyes, having pure anger in them.
"THAT'S BULLSHIT AND YOU KNOW IT! BULL SHIT! BULLSHIT! BULL SHIT!"
A bright flash engulfed Dawn's body, blinding everyone, including the other creatures that were near.
"SPARK! YOU AREN'T A BREAKER OF THINGS! YOU ARE TOO KIND AND SWEET FOR THAT!" with that said, Dawn darted off in blinding speed, leaving behind a dirt cloud.
As everyone coughed, Lucy could see a rainbow aura above the park and even though it looked beautiful, she knew that was Spark's magical aura going crazy. She quickly told the others and they all teleported into the park.
As they reappeared in the park, Lucy could see Twilight and Dash racing to Spark, who was on her knees, crying. Soon, she could hear the others arriving. She even saw Flare and Layla carrying Luster, Cozy, Luster's father, and both AJs. She turned back to Spark, hearing her saying it was her fault.
"What's going on!?" shouted Dashie, the second to last one to arrive, while Dawn arrived after her.
When Dashie said that, Lucy could see her friends carrying Twilah, who was coughing and in pain.
"I'm sorry!" cried Spark, watching Dashie rushing to Twilah. "It's my fault!"
"Twilah!? TWILAH!!!" shouted Dashie grabbing Twilah's from Sunny and her friends, and checking on her. "WHAT'S WRONG!? TWILAH!?"
Lucy was loss for words as she saw Blitz's mother in so much pain. What happened to her and why was Spark saying it was her fault!?
"It's my fault, I'm so sorry," repeated Spark.
"What's wrong with her, Spark!?" shouted Lucy, getting worried. "What happened to Blitz's mom!?"
It was hours later in Braver's library. Sunset and Sunny explained what happened, that Fayth appeared and changed Twilah's fate. The problem was, they had no clue what she changed but guessing how sick-looking Twilah became, it was clearly for the worst. As Twilight helped Twilah to Luster's bedroom, Sunburst, Dashie, and Dash were behind, and behind them was Spark, still crying.
Everyone was talking with each other, wondering if Twilah was going to die. While others were trying to brainstorm a cure for her. After awhile Sunburst came back stairs, he took his daughter to the side while Amelia started to explain where she had been, which was helping Spark and others that Spark gathered, in stopping Fayth's plan by using four kids as tools to get into Elyndra.
After a certain point in Amelia's story, Dash flew down the stairs, giving everyone an update on Twilah's health and soon after, Spark came down.
Dawn wanted to be at Spark's side but she stopped herself, seeing a group walking up to Spark. She even saw Spark looking at her, making her look away.
"...everyone..." cried Spark as she walked up to the heroes who saved her sisters ten years ago, and they started to hug her.
Everyone was hugging and comforting Spark, trying to keep her together but Dawn couldn't watch it. For some odd reason, she felt like she didn't belong here. Her pony ears twitched as she picked up Spark's whisper. She hid her reaction to it, which was Spark saying her name.
"...Spark..." whispered Dawn, still leaning against the wall and not looking in Spark's direction.
