Author's Note
Hey guys, so this is something I wanted to try my hand at, my first story where a human is in Equestria. This is my first one so go easy with eh comments, constructive criticism is fine, just no flames.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little one-shot :)
The One and only Chapter
Ponyville Park
The Ponyville Park was a good spot for relaxing, with many fillies and colts playing together and the many mares and stallions watching them to ensure that they did not get into any sort of trouble. But nopony liked this spot more than Anon.
Anon was the only human living here in Equestria, it's still unknown just how he got there, but it seems as if he was stuck here. Of course, while it did take him a while to get used to the many customs of this new world, he quickly got immersed in it and made many friends.
Today, Anon was sitting under a tree in the park watching everypony go about their time and he smiled at it, it reminded him of a lot back on Earth when he and his family would go to the park to play and have picnics together. The very thought made him frown a bit…how he missed them very much.
“Hi, Nonny!” Anon was shaken out of his thoughts by the sound of a family voice and he turned to see who it was and he gave a small smile.
“Derpy, Dinky, hi.” Yep. Derpy Hooves and her daughter Dinky Hooves were in the park, and as soon as they saw Anon, they went over to him. “What are you both doing here?”
“Mom and I came here to relax, and then we saw you and I wanted to say hi.” Dinky said with a big grin on her face. Anon found himself very fond of the many fillies and colts who were intrigued with him, mainly Dinky, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Apple Bloom, and many others.
“Well, thanks.” He said as he reached and rubbed her head gently, making her smile and squeal in delight, many ponies did find him rubbing their heads to be a very good feeling. “Do you guys want to join me?” He asked as he patted the ground next to him, and the mother and daughter duo happily nodded and parked next to him as they stood out to the many others. “Nice day, huh?” He asked them, making them both nod their heads in agreement.
“Nonny, what is your planet like?” Dinky asked him with curiosity. “I mean I know you explained it to us at the schoolhouse, but what sort of fun things are there to do there? Are there parks, or anything like Equestria?”
Anon looked at the small filly and chuckled a bit. “Well, I will admit they don't have talking animals there, especially not adorable little pens like yourself.” He said as he gently poked her on the nose, making the mall filly jiggle a bit. “But yeah…basically we operate just like you ponies, but we don't walk on all fours and all that jazz.” He said to her.
“Sounds really nice.” Derpy said to him.
“Well, it ain't all sunshine and rainbows. Many places have their issues.” Anon said to them. “But I do miss it though.” He said as he gave a small sigh. “I miss the city, the bustle, and my family.” He gave a small sigh as he looked out at the many mares and stallions playing with their foals. He remembered the times he would often take his little niece and nephew to the park to play.
Anon then felt a small hoof on his leg and he looked to see Dinky giving him a sad look on her face as a lone tear escaped. “I’m sorry Mr. Anon, that you got sucked away from your family.” She said. “Have you tried asking the princesses about sending you back?”
Anon gave a small sigh. “Well, I did. But unfortunately, they said that there was no way they were able to bring me back to my home…so I guess I am stuck here.” He said he then noticed the frowns on the pony's faces and he reassured them. “But don't get me wrong, there is nothing I hate about this place, seriously, you all treat me with kindness and all that jazz.” He said. “It’s just-”
“You miss your home.” Derpy said with her head lowered. “We know…” She said as she looked up at him. “It’s just…we like you, everypony in town does. You are so helpful and kind. And you regularly babysit Dinky when I am stuck at the post office.” She said.
Anon had to chuckle at that, and it was true. While he didn't have a job per se, he did odd jobs around Ponyville, whether it was babysitting, pet sitting or anything, he was the human to do it for some money. “Well don't sell me short.” He said with a small smile.
“It’s true Mr. Anon.” Dinky said to him. “Everypony in the schoolhouse talks about how helpful you are, even Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.” She said. “And that's even surprising as they don't usually compliment anypony.”
“Heh, that’s true.” Anon did see the two fillies bullying others, and he was always the one to stop right in to stop them, he didn’t care if they came from rich families, no one deserves to be bullied! “And as I said, don't get me wrong, I enjoy you, you all treat me like I was one of your own, it's just…I get homesick a lot.”
“Understandable,” Derpy said with a warm smile, and she giggled a bit. “Guess what. Diny had a crush on a certain somepony.”
“MOM!” Dinky; 's face immediately turned red when the older mare said that, and it made Anon smirk and giggle a bit.
“Oh does she?” He asked as the filly looked down. “So, who is the lucky guy?” He asked.
“S-sush! I’m not telling.” Dinky stubbornly said as he turned away with her nose in the air, making Anon smile further.
“Dinks, I’m not going to mock you or anything.” He said with a smile. “I’m sure everypony at your school has a crush on someone, right?” He asked.
Dinky then turned around to see Anon giving her a warm smile and sighed, he was so good at doing that…how did he do it? “Well..ok.I mean after all, Sweetie Belle likes Button Mash, Apple Bloom likes Pip, and Scootaloo likes Rumble, so-” But then the fillies' eyes shrunk a bit. “Dang it…I want to say that…”
Anon and Deroy giggled a bit as Dinky's face turned red with embarrassment. “Dinky, just tell him, he won't tell anyone, right?” Droy told Anon.
“I promise.” He said.
Dinky got up close to him and raised an eyebrow. “Do you Pinkie Promise?” That caused Anon’s eye to shrink a bit, he had heard that nopony should ever break a Pinkie Promise. He then nervously smiled and took the oath.
“I cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” He said with a nervous smile. Of course, he would always keep a promise, a Pinkie Promise though….it was actually kind of terrifying to him.
Dinky then sighed and looked down. “-pike.”
“Sorry, what was that?” Anon asked.
“...Spike.” She said a bit more loud, but it still ain't loud enough.
“Dinky you need to-”
“Spike!” Dinky said now loud enough. “I like Spike!” She said, now annoyed. “There, I said it, I have a crush on Spike!” She said as she took a deep breath.
Anon took a moment to process her words and hsi eyes winded. “Spike, the young dragon who is always with Twilight?” He asked, and Dinky nodded her head. “Oh…well…why don't you just go ask him out?”
Dinky sighed and sat her flank down. “I want to, but he is always around Rarity, you know, Sweetie Belle's older sister?” She said, “I don't think he would be interested in me, to be honest.”
Anon shook his head. “Now don't say that, I bet if you both spend some time together then maybe he will fall for you.” He said. “And besides, I think he is getting over Rarity as we speak.”
Dinky 's face lit up a bit. “R-really?”
“Yeah, me and him were talking the other day. Apparently, he told me that he was beginning to fall out of love with Rarity, if you ask me I think it's a good idea because no offense to Rarity, but I think she takes advantage of him way too much.” He said with a sigh. “And besides, she is way too old for him anyway.”
Dinky’s face lit up a bit. If Spike no longer has feelings for Rarity…could there be hope? All she could do was hope and pray that Spike would return these feelings. “Ok, I guess I’ll tell him.” She said,
“Good girl.” Anon said as he then used his fingers to catch her head, causing her to giggle a bit and rub her head around his hand like a cat. Anon had done this a few times with the mares of town and as much as they wanted to admit it, he even did it with some stallions as well. Big Mac was treated to a head-scratching, and he threatened to buck Anon into next week if he were to tell a soul.
“Me next, please.” Derpy said with a pleading look, Anon sighed a bit before he used his other hand to scratch the head of the ditzy mail mare. He looked at the pleased looks of the both of them and he felt his sadness go away a bit. Sure he missed all of his friends and family on Earth, but there was no doubt denying that he enjoyed the company of the many creatures here in Equestria.
After a good few minutes of scratching, Anon stopped and the three continued to sit together on the bench.
“Anon,” Derpy said as she then pulled out a muffin from somewhere. “Muffin?” She asked.
Anon looked at the muffin and smiled. “Sure.” He said as he took the muffin and bit into it, and when he did, his eyes widened. “Chocolate chip, my favorite!” He said with a mouthful, crumble spewing from his mouth, causing Dinky to giggle.
“Mr. Anon, you spewing crumbs.” She said with a giggle, and that prompted Anon to blush a bit and wipe the crumbs away with his hand.
Derpy giggled a bit as well. “Are you feeling better Anon?” She asked.
Anon looked at her, then at Dinky, and then at his muffin. “Yea…I am.” He said with a smile. “While I am still upset about possibly never seeing my family again…I guess I don't dawdle in it any longer, and plus I got myself a new family…everypony here in town, even you both.” He said with a smile.
“Yay.” Dinky said as she hopped in his lap and gave him a big hug, a hug that took Anon by surprise, but he nonetheless smiled and returned the hug to the young filly. Anon was then a bit spooked as Derpy straight-up hugged him as well, but he smiled and hugged her back.
Anon looked at the two ponies and smiled. Sure he missed everyone on Earth, but he discovered that as long as he was in this new world…these were his friends and family now, of course, they would never replace the ones on Earth.
“Hey, Nonny,” Derpy said to him. “Do you want to come to our house tonight for dinner?” She asked him with a hopeful smile.
Anon looked at her and then at Dinky, who was giving him puppy dog eyes and he sighed a bit. “Well…alright.” He said with a smile, causing the small filly to squeal in happiness.
Hoove Residence
It was no nighttime as Anon had gone over to Derpy and Dinky's house, their dinner was a simple vegetable pasta. While Anon had grown accustomed to eating vegetables here in this world, he did miss the taste of meat... of course, he would never tell anypony that less he wanted to be chased right out of town. Anon even offered to do the dishes for them, which the mare and daughter appreciated very much.
Afterwards, it was late and it was time for Dinky to go to bed. "Hey, Nonny." the filly said looking up at him. "could you carry me to bed, pretty please?" She asked, pleading at him with these eyes of hers. Anon shook his head and chuckled a bit before picking her up in his arms and carrying her off.
After five minutes, Anon finally arrived in the fillies' room, with her in his arms. "Alright Dinks, we are here." He said, but then he heard some soft snoring and he looked down at Dinky, who was snoring softly. "Dinky?" He asked softly, but she was sound asleep. He chuckled a bit before he went to her bed, gently placed her down, and put the cover over her. Afterward, he gave her a soft kiss on the head and rubbed her mane. "Goodnight Dinky." He spoke softly as he then turned and walked out of the room.
After he got out, he saw Derpy on the couch and he went over to her. "thanks for treating me to dinner Derpy." He said.
"I thank you for tucking in Dinky." She said with a smile. "You're so caring for us."
Anon smiled. "It's no big deal." He said. But before he could make it out the door, he felt a pair of lips touch his cheek. At that feeling, he felt his face begin to blush a bit and he turned to see Derpy giving him a smile.
"Thank you....for always being such an amazing friend." Derpy said to him with a smile.
Even though he was a bit startled by the kiss, he nonetheless smiled back at her. "You too Derps." He said as he then walked right out, but not before turning back to face her. "You too." He said as he closed the door. When he stepped outside, whatever sadness he felt was all gone in an instant.
sure he missed everyone on Earth, the friends and family he had back there...but this was his new life now, he was now part of these ponies' community...and he couldn't be happier than to be here right now. All he could hope for was if any of his friends or family were back on Earth...he hoped that maybe one day, they too could be mysteriously brought here, to enjoy the simple life as he is right now.
He gave one last look to Derpy's door and he thought of something. "Would it be weird to date a pony?"
