A Reveal Of Great Happiness
Both Hitch and Sparky grunted as they got the last piece of tape secured on the box. They slumped to the floor in slight heap; both of them panting dramatically. They smiled when they heard the laughter of a mare. They looked at the mare who was laughing at them. An off white unicorn with a purple man stood in the door. She had a camera in her magical hold. Along with two glasses of fire tea.
She greeted the two. “How are my big, strong, boys.”
Sparky sat up and smiled as he greeted her. “Hi, Mommy.”
Hitch stood up and walked over to her; both of them hugged as he said. “Afternoon, Love.” He kissed her on the cheek as he said. “Both me and Sparky just finished.” He saw her smile at him before she offered him a glass of tea. He thanked her. “Thanks, love.”
The unicorn was his wife Primrose. Both of them had been married for about a year now. The wedding was a small one; held in one of the fields outside of Maretime Bay. A few ponies were invited and the two had moved into a larger house on the outside of town. Primrose kissed her husband before she gasped as she felt her stepson nuzzle her stomach. She giggled a little as she looked down at the little drake.
Sparky spoke. “Hello, baby.”
Both of his parents chuckled at the cute sight. Yes, Primrose was six months pregnant; she stood now with a large bulge in a stomach. A bulge that made it a little difficult for her to move around. But, she couldn't be any more happier. The same could be said about her husband and stepson. All three of them were excited for the new foal. The parents were more excited than Sparky. Just the other week they had found out the baby's gender. But, today, they were going to reveal their baby's gender to their friends. Sparky was more than excited about finding if he going to be a big brother to a filly or a colt.
Hitch bent down and picked his son up; hearing him giggle as he was nuzzled by his father. He asked him. “What do you hope it is, buddy?”
Sparky smiled and answered. “Filly.”
Hitch faked as gasp before saying. “You little traitor.”
Sparky laughed before his mother offered him some tea. He gently grabbed the cup and thanked her. “Thanks, Mama.”
Primrose smiled before kissing the little dragon on the forehead. She was happy being his mother and she couldn't wait to give him a new brother or sister. She moved to kiss her husband again. As they kissed both of them heard their son go. “Eww!” They even heard him gag a little; causing both of them to chuckle as he fought to get out of his fathers hooves.
Hitch gently put him down and the little dragon walked back to his mothers belly. He watched as Sparky gently nuzzled her pregnant belly; hearing him purr happily as he pressed himself against his soon to be sibling. Hitch smiled as a tear threatened to fall from his eyes. He remembered how Sparky acted during the first month of Primroses' pregnancy. How the little drake would press himself against her belly. How he would sometimes cover her stomach with his blanket. There would even be times he would rest on top of her belly. He would always tell them he was helping “Warm the egg.”.
Hitch commented. “He's going to be a good brother.”
Primrose added. “He does have an amazing father.” She nuzzled him.
He nuzzled her back and said. “And, an amazing mother.”
Primrose giggle a little before gasping and doubling over. That kick was a little hard; it wasn't too hard but it did catch her off guard. Both her husband and son were at her side. They checked her over; making sure she was okay, and helping her get back to her hooves. She smiled lovingly at both of them. She wondered how she could be blessed with these two. These two wonderful stallions....well stallion and dragon.
Hitch suggested. “Let's get you back up to bed love.” He braced her against his side before continuing. “You're going to be doing a lot of standing later.”
She reluctantly nodded, she hated this one of many downsides to pregnancy. Being stuck in bed most of the day. She was surprised that she didn't have any bed sores yet. She giggled a little as her son gently held her belly. She agreed with her husband; Sparky would be a great brother. The three made their way upstairs. Eventually, they reached the bedroom and the two helped her onto the bed. Primrose layed on her side and relaxed into the soft bed. One of her hooves rested on her stomach. While Sparky climbed onto the bed and pressed himself against her belly. He purred happily as he nuzzled her.
Hitch gazed at the cute display in front of him. Years ago, if anypony had told him he would be a father to a dragon and a husband to a unicorn mare. He would never believe you. Now, he couldn't imagine a life with his son, Sparky. And, his wife Primrose. He sighed and turned to walk out of the room.
Primrose called to him. “Rest with us love.”
He stopped mid stride and turned back around. He saw both his wife and son looking at him with pleading eyes. Oh his poor heart couldn't take it. He sighed and walked back to the bed; he climbed onto and layed down close to his wife. One of his hooves rested on her pregnant belly; while his other hoof gently stroke the back of her head.
He whispered. “I love you.” He smiled before adding. “All of you.”
Primrose smiled and whispered back. “We love you too.”
before they fell asleep Hitch made sure to set a time for one hour. Here in a little bit their friends would be arriving for their gender reveal. They couldn't wait to reveal the big surprise to their friends and their son. He gave his wife one more kiss before he fell asleep.
Hitch and Primrose stood proudly in front of their friends. Between them was a large box with a single pull string in the front. One side of the box was painted blue and the other was painted pink. There was a question mark in the middle of the two colors. The word “Colt” was written on the blue side. The word “Filly” was written on the pink side. There were also two images drawn on the lower part of the box. One was a simple horseshoe the other a horn. Sparky eagerly held the pull string; he wanted to know if he would have a brother or sister.
They looked at each other and Primrose spoke. “We'd like to thank all of you for coming.” Everypony focused on them. She smiled happily as she continued. “As all of you know; me and Hitch are expecting a foal.” She heard Sunny, Pipp, and Izzy cheering. “Last week, we found out what we are going to be having.” Both of them smiled eagerly as they looked down at Sparky. He was ready to pull the rope. Ready to see what he would be a brother too.
Hitch took over and spoke. “Earlier before all of you got here; we passed out four cards. Two of them are colored; the other two have a horseshoe and horn on them.” Each of them nodded before holding up their cards. He continued. “Before Sparky here pulls the cord; were going to be taking a quick poll.” He turned to his wife and smiled at her; while she smiled back at him. He turned back towards their friends. “Who here thinks it will be a colt?”
Zipp, Sprout, Alphabittle and Misty raised the blue cards. Hitch smiled at their guess. He turned towards his wife and nodded. Primrose asked. “Who here thinks it will be a filly?”
Sunny, Pipp, Izzy, Phyllis and Queen Haven raised the pink cards. She smiled happily before asking another question. “Now, how many of you think it will be a unicorn?”
This time Alphabittle, Misty, Pipp and Sunny raised the card with the unicorn horn. Her smiled grew bigger; while she looked at her husband, sticking her tongue out at him playfully. Causing a few of their friends to laugh. Hitch rolled his eyes and chuckled a little.
He started. “Although, it clear what the rest of you think.” He smiled and asked. “How many of you think it's going to be an earth pony?”
Phyllis, Sprout, Queen Haven, Izzy, and Zipp raised the cards with the horseshoe. Sparky was ready to pull on the cord. He really wanted to know if he would have a brother or sister. Their friends were eager to see what the young couple was going to have. Hitch looked at his wife and the two shared a kiss.
Primrose looked at her son and said. “Okay, Sparky. Pull the cord!”
Sparky smiled and pulled the cord hard; the top of the box opened and a large plume of smoke and confetti shot out from the box. Everypony cheered happily as a balloon rose inside the smoke. Once the smoke clear a series of gasps erupted from the crowd. Sparky stared up wide eyed at the balloon that floated above the box. The balloon was shaped like a two.
Pipp yelled. “Oh my hoofness!”
Zipp commented. “No, she is not!”
Sprout yelled. “Way to go Stallion!”
Misty, Izzy and Sunny were squealing in delight. While Queen Haven held a hoof to her mouth. Alphabittle was tempted to walk up and hoofbump with him. None of them could believe that Primrose was.
Primrose happily announced. “Were having twins!” Her and her husband hugged each other while Sparky continued to stare up at the balloon. His stare was soon turned to his parents; his tiny mind was still trying to process the news. Hitch smiled as he picked his son up; while Primrose levitated two more boxes out of the larger box. They had the same color and images as the larger box. Everyone was eager to see what their babies were going to be. They didn't have to wait long. Primrose used her magic to open both boxes. One had blue balloons along with a horn shaped balloon. While the other had pink balloons and a horseshoe shaped balloon.
Hitch looked at his son and said proudly. “Sparky, look.” He motioned towards both balloons and added. “You're going to be a big brother to both a little sister and a little brother.”
For a moment Sparky could only stare dumbfounded at him. His mother walked closer to them and she happily hugged Hitch. Hitch hugged her back; both of them crying tears of joy. Sparky soon broke out of his stupor and started to cry too. He hugged his mother and father as best he could. Just like them he was very happy. He couldn't wait to meet his brother and sister.
