Do you have one? And I don't mean one spot where you move periodically over a few years. I mean a real home, somewhere that you and your ancestors and your ancestors, ancestors not only lived past generations but developed a deep spiritual bond that soaked the land with its emotions. A place that resides deeply in your soul becoming not only your final resting place but a link that ties you to the world you once lived in.
My father was a strong pony. He had guts and an intuition that no pony else matched. It was one of the many reasons why we managed to survive countless winters with just each other and the wisdom and experience that was gifted to us by those who lived before.
Ponies, zebras, deer, back when the land was law and our roots were deep and untested.
Unfortunately, the rise of ancient forbidden techniques has led to those forsaking their birthright and falling into a mindset of blissful ignorance and fragility. Making them weak and weaker as they try desperately to push their codependence even further in defilement of nature law.
Disgusting.
Of course, my father taught me the ways of showing mercy. Even to those who fell into the ways of Obanak. Yet I cannot help but feel my anger rise more and more each time they approach. Their happy smiling faces and cheerful attitudes turn into a look of fearful disdain and ridicule as they see us.
Ponies with practically nothing, with only the light of day as our guide and caves as our home to shelter from the storms that nature has given us to test our strength and resolve
In this way we are happy, we are blessed, and thrilled to live and experience true life true strength, and love that is built on the character of strength and earnestness to provide. Stallion or mare colt or filly they are all tasked and blessed with the rewards of life and gifts from the Dark One. This is how we earn a way to live this is how my family chooses to live for generations even if most have forgotten.
Oh, how they all forgotten.
I was raised to be a strong son. To lead those who have trouble with leading themselves and to perform the ceremony on all of my siblings when the time came near. It was a right of passage a test to see one's worth under the light of a full moon. Once at its highest peak, the sharpness of the blade will be matched against the skin and the symbol of the moon shall be carved as a reminder of what was once lost against the hounds of red who soaked the world in its grip of forced alienation in one's land.
Some did not survive, but this is expected and due to our heritage we had decades to replenish even if we were down by the smallest of numbers. For we as the last reminders of the past have chosen to offer our bodies and souls for the next generation to live on great and powerful in number.
That was our destiny.
That was our choice.
However, that wasn't enough.
Not for them. Not from those who poisoned the land with lies and fear. Fear that only sickened its natural resources the more they pushed for obedience instead of natural order. They think that they are in control but in truth the land just like the wind changes in any direction it chooses. Those who go against it are sentenced to an unnatural death.
Yet despite this warning, they still came.
We did not live in what they call the Everfree Forest. Yet they still felt great fear and as such many claimed that it was unsafe to live in.
As such some were sent to retrieve me and my siblings in hopes of giving us a lesser way of life.
They returned with no heads to look upon when the time came to bury the dead.
You would think that the message would be clear. Yet ponies only came in greater numbers. Their weapons shields, spears, and bullets were their defense against us against those who wanted to live breed, and hunt in ways that came as only instinct.
It wasn't enough for them.
The sounds of screaming, metal against flesh, and high-pitched whines that were unnatural to the Earth as a pure breed alicorn filled the air. My teeth as sharp and strong as dragon scales pierced through a pony's neck before tearing. He gasped eyes wide as they rolled into the back of his skull as he collapsed his body as useless as it was living could now have the refound purpose nursing the soil.
An impact then hot searing pain exploded in my shoulder. I screamed charging at the one who shot eyes red as he shot several more rounds into my chest. That wasn't enough for you see I was loyal and I was strong and with my blessed form, I was as tough as the land needed me to be.
Another crunch a gasp and one more falls dead. The pain is great it's getting hard to breathe im not dying but my body still follows nature's law. I shake my head clearing it there are still forsakers around the fighting isn't over I have to focus.
Screaming.
It isn't the enemy.
I turn and see one of my sisters with a blade through her eye. She screams wobbling back before a sphere gets her in the heart.
Then another,
And another.
I scream. My hatred blackened my vision and my soul. I charged in attacking anything and everything that wasn't kin.
A sphere goes into my ribs.
A sphere hits my skull.
A roar, more fighting more impacts felt.
I kill one, two, three, four.
I gasp legs collapsing from under themselves vision blurry. I look up and the pony standing over me looks ready to end my life.
I smile.
"In the end, even when they try to deny who they are and who they once were it can't change the beasts we all are inside."
"Rejoice!"
"Howl and rejoice!"
He only screams before bringing the blade down.
I close my eyes.
The moon screamed.
