The Shy One
8 | Familiar Past
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI go down the main street, where I see a merchant mare selling flowers—an excellent opportunity to get something nice for Flutters. I headed to the sales mare and looked at the flowers she had for sale.
"Well, hello there! All my flowers are fresh," the mare said.
"Hi there, I'm looking for something for a special mare."
"I have just the thing for you!" She reaches down and grabs a bouquet of red roses.
"They are beautiful, I say, I'll take them!" I handed over a few bits and headed off to Flutter's cottage.
I heard a voice above the clouds as I headed up the hill.
“Well, well, well, if it isn't the new pony that Fluttershy has a crush on."
I look around, confused, as I say a "hello?" A blue pony with a rainbow-colored mane flew out of the clouds and landed on the ground.
"The name is Rainbow Dash; you must be Blue Bolt."
"Yeah, that's me. How did you guess?"
"Word travels fast around here."
"So, I've heard," I nervously say.
"So, what's the deal with you and Fluttershy?" Rainbow Dash asked curiously.
"The deal?" I nervously ask.
"Um, yeah, what's the deal with you having a crush on one another?"
"Well, I mean, yeah, I like her, and I think she likes me, too."
"Duh, she likes you. I've never seen Fluttershy this social before; it's bizarre. So, have you two gotten to know each other?"
"I mean, I barely moved here and still have much to ask."
"Well, you should know something about Fluttershy."
"What's that?" I ask curiously.
"She hasn't always had it easy, so she's timid and private. She has had some things happen in her past that she won't tell any pony; I've even tried asking her myself but to no avail. She trusts you enough, so you could get her to discuss it.
"Maybe you're right; I want to get to know her better. She's extraordinary; I know she is."
"Well, you better not keep her waiting, Romeo," she chuckles. She then quickly speeds up to the clouds and vanishes.
Rainbow Dash was right with me asking about Fluttershy's past; It made me curious about what she was hiding. We may have more similarities than I initially thought. I arrive at her cottage and knock on the door with my hoof.
"One moment," I hear from behind the door.
The door opens, and I see her beautiful face; she leans in and hugs me around the neck. I instantly felt flushed, and I knew I was blushing. Not only that, but I felt myself getting hard just from that slight touch.
"Nice to see you too," I awkwardly say as she steps away.
"Come in; I made dinner," she says.
I head in, drop my bags on the ground, and remember the flowers I bought her earlier. I reach down into my bag and retrieve them. I headed over to the kitchen and handed them to her.
"These are for you, Flutters, for all you've done for me so far," as I gave her the bouquet of roses.
"Oh, my goodness, these are so pretty; thank you so much, Blue Bolt!"
"You're welcome, Flutters,” I say, slightly blushing.
I retrieved some soup from the stove and sat at the dining room table. I take a spoonful of the soup and slowly sip it.
"Wow, this is good, Flutters; you're quite the cook."
"Oh, it's nothing," she nervously says as she sips. "I've always loved cooking for other ponies; it makes me feel food."
"You make me feel good," I smirkingly say.
"Oh my, I didn't think I'd done that much for you, Blue Bolt."
"Of course, you have Flutters; you've offered me food, a place to stay, and helped me find a job. You've done more
than enough for me."
"It's nothing, Blue Bolt. I like helping ponies."
"But that's just the thing, Flutters; I keep hearing you're so shy and private that you usually don't do these things for other ponies. Why me? I'm nothing special, just a lone pegisi looking for a better life here in Ponyville."
"That's just the thing, though, Blue Bolt; you are special; you're special to me."
"I uh, well, you're special to me too, Flutters.”
"But you should know, Blue Bolt, I have been hurt by other ponies."
"Hurt you? I say rather angrily, like physically?"
"No, not like that, but my heart has been hurt greatly."
"Other ponies have used my shyness to their advantage and played me like a fool, taking what they want from me,
using me, and never repaying favors. I have never had a true relationship with another pony because I can never trust them. That's why I turned to creatures to help overcome my depression; they make me feel better, and I know they won’t
leave me."
Flutters tear up a bit, "But I saw you, Blue Bolt, and I knew you were different. You're not like other ponies; you care, are considerate, and have a true heart, and that's why I like you."
I sit there stunned at the dinner table of what I just heard. I got up, trotted over to Flutters, and hugged her immediately.
"I'm so sorry, Flutters. No pony deserves to go through what you have. But you're strong and made it so far that no pony else should matter."
"Thank you, Blue Bolt," she says as I wipe her tears away.
We sat there momentarily, locking eyes, "should I lean in and kiss her,” I nervously thought? I didn't know if she was ready for that yet. I used my best judgment and decided to back away slowly and wait for the right moment.
"I know what it's like to feel so alone, Flutters. I have always been a lone pony. My father left when I was just a filly, leaving my Mom to raise me.”
“I always had trouble fitting in with other ponies because of who I was. I just wanted to be alone, leading to
severe depression. I even contemplated ending it all, but I knew I couldn't. My Mom needed me, and I needed her; I had
to leave Manehatten to find my place in Equestria, and I was hoping to find it here.”
I started crying and couldn't stop the tears dripping down my face. Flutters approached me and put my head into
her chest while rubbing me with her hooves.
"We've both had difficult pasts, but that shouldn't define who we are." I lift my head as she wipes the tears off my face.
"Thank you, Flutters, thank you so much I say. I needed to hear that."
"Anything for you, Blue Bolt; I'm here no matter what."
We lock eyes with each other once again like earlier, this time a bit closer. In a split-second decision, I said "fuck it" in
my head. I leaned in slowly, put one of my hooves against her face, locked my lips with hers, and went in for the kiss. I could hear Flutter's gasp as I did this, but I could feel her leaning in closer, wanting me to keep going. It felt like fireworks were going off in my head.
I've kissed other mares before, but this was different. I have never felt anything so erotic before. Just from that small kiss alone, I got instantly hard, and I think Fluttershy could feel it.
Her lips and mouth were so warm they felt like an oven; it was a warmth that spread across my face and onto my whole
body. I finally lifted my lips away to see her face. She was bright red and flushed. "That was nice, Blue Bolt," she says with a smile.
"Yeah, Flutters, it was." Smiling back at her.
