Unbeknownst to Twilight Sparkle, her crown, which contained her magical element, was brought to this world by the rogue student Sunset Shimmer in an attempt to seize its power. Upon arrival in the other world, the crown created a copy of itself—though this crown was unlike the original, as Canterlot High would soon discover.

A few days after its arrival, the crown was found by the local social outcast, Wallflower Blush. It had nestled on a patch of grass, and as the weeds drew closer, they transformed, becoming vibrant and colorful. Oblivious to this strange phenomenon, Wallflower snatched the pink crown from its resting place. As soon as she touched the metallic surface, a light shock coursed through her, setting off a chain of events that would change Canterlot High forever.
