Crystal Destiny
A wrench in the Kings plans
Previous ChapterNext ChapterEverything was perfect for Sombra. He had found a being that could contain his magic. A being inside the castle he wanted to conquer. From there he would have his revenge on those of his people that betrayed him and yet.
“Get up yo-” Sombra said before stopping. The human was still unconscious on the floor. Sombra huffed in irritation as he realized that he inadvertently trapped himself. He hadn’t realized this creature could wield magic well enough to interrupt him taking over the body. What he also hadn’t expected was the magic engravings on this being absorbing his magic while he was distracted.
“GAHHH!” Jai screamed as he clutched his chest.
“You finally woke up brat?” Sombra asked, hovering closer.
“Oh for the love of- That wasn’t a dream?” Jai said, sitting up and putting his face in his hands.
“No and if not for my quick thinking I would have been gone” Sombra said sneering at Jai.
“I would have liked that so much more. I’m not a big fan of a smoke cloud with eyes around me” Jai retorted.
“Hmph, this would not have happened if y-” Sombra was cut off.
“IF you had left me alone! Goddamn I’ve only been here a little under a year” Jai said irritably.
“Or if-” Sombra began.
“NO! There is no; ands, ifs, buts, or coconuts! You leave me alone, we aren't here, end of story.” Jai said, his hands now behind his head. Taking a deep breath he stood up and walked to the balcony and watched the sunrise. Sombra’s incorporeal form just stared at the being before him. Was he really trapped with this thing? No, all he had to do was detach himself from the thing, simple really.
“Alright, I’ve got stuff I wanna do today so go the hell away?” Jai said, turning to the black cloud.
“You Hairless Minotaur Mongrel! You dare speak to the King that way!?” Sombra spat, glaring at the human.
“First I am a human, and second when the ‘king’ has been reduced to a parasite I’ll be damned if you demand respect right now.” Jai said with all of the spite he could muster in return. Sombra could only glare as this human was right.
“Tch” Sombra scoffed as he turned away from the human. Jai rolled his eyes and got changed. Amore had been really nice about getting him more than one set of clothes. He sported an white hoodie and jean jacket that was a nightmare to try and explain to the tailor. Followed by black jeans that were also a goddamn nightmare and his faded blue converse.
“So I ask again; Why are you even still here?” Jai said, folding his arms and looking at Sombra. The two were silent for minutes until Sombra huffed and got closer to the human who flinched.
“I am bound. Whatever you did to your magic channels sucked in my remaining magic when I tried to take over. So now I cannot leave, even though I would have loved to” Sombra said.
“How’d you manage that?” Jai asked, smirking. Sombra mumbled a response that Jai didn’t quite catch.
“I can’t hear ya your majesty? I asked how’d y-” Jai began to mock the king before he heard a knock on his door.
“You sir are a pain in my ass” Jai said, strolling over to the door and opening it.
“Is now a bad time Sir Jai?” a teal Pegasus maid asked looking up at him.
“Nah, rooms all yours Lola. I’m heading down to eat.” Jai said letting Lola in and leaving for breakfast.
“These halls are much different than I remember. There used t-” Sombra stopped speaking when he noticed the humans gaze. His face said it all, ‘why are you talking?’. The two continued in silence until they reached the dining area. Jai opened the door to two of its occupants bickering.
“Lu-Lu! You said you would help me!” Celestia whined as she stuffed a pancake in her mouth.
“I tried sister but something was in the way and I couldn’t do it!” Luna shot back.
“Don’t lie to me, you just forgot didn’t you?” Celestia asked using her magic to point her fork at her sister.
“No tia, I promise I didn’t forget th-” Luna paused looking at the door.
“Don’t mind me carry on Tia,” Jai said sarcastically, quietly closing the door and finding his seat at the table once again.. He had a sausage and eggs prepared. Wasting no time he dug in and saw Celestia and Luna look at him concerned. The human smiled in response causing the the two to relax.
“Jai, how are you feeling today?” Amora asked the human. Jai looked over at her and smiled,
“Well enough for an evening stroll around the castle.” He said looking at the princess who took a moment to process. And when she did her face glowed.
The walk was nice to say the least. Jai didn’t say much but instead listened to Amore rant about all of her meetings after breakfast. His favorite complaint of hers was,
“Could they at least try to act like they don’t think I’m dumb? Why are they dumbing down laws I WROTE?!” Amore complained. Jai could really only shrug and laugh as she huffed in irritation. The two parted ways and Jai made his way out to his spot under the willow tree in the courtyard.
“Now let's get today's practice in” He murmured to himself as he sat in the shade. Placing his hands together he closed his eyes. He felt the tingle on his back and left arm where the magic engravings were. He felt the familiar warm feeling in his left arm and a soothing feeling in the other. After a few moments his magic destabilized as a new feeling took over in his chest area.
“Christ! What is that?” Jai asked, coughing uncontrollably. Sombra finally emerged from wherever he went and looked down at the human.
“That would be my magic, much different than what you are used to I’m sure” Sombra said smiling.
“Well considering magic as a whole is new to me yea this is different” Jai retorted.
“Hmph. My magic is that of the void. A separate plane exclusive to the Umbrum. It is pure-” Sombra monologued as Jai tuned him out. How did he feel when this Things magic manifested.
“Empty…no that's not it. Well…”Jai thought as Sombra droned on about how old and great his magic was.
“My magic only knows one equal and I have found the key to fixing that” Sombra finished. Jai opened his eyes to look at Sombra. What he expected was to see the smoke cloud again but he was relatively surprised to see a pony. A pitch black pony with a red curved horn the size of his palm floating just in front of him.
“I suppose you aren’t going to tell me how to fix this weakness in your magic?” Jai asked. Sombra’s grin only grew wider and more sinister.
“Only if you give me your body,” Sombra said.
“Yeah…No I’ll pass on that” Jai said, rolling his eyes and resuming his meditation. What did he feel when this foreign sensation emerged? Just before he felt the sharp pain in his chest, what was this?
“What is with this world and its correlation to magic and how I feel?” Jai complained.
“Magic is most ponies everything and by extension them. Your magic is you and if you do not understand your own nature. How do you expect to utilize your potential” The mini Sombra lectured.
“I really wasn’t expecting an answer. Besides I know that I probably hate you” Jai said, uncrossing his legs and leaning against the tree.
“Touché human.” Sombra said.
“Scratch that. It’s not probably, I do hate you. One for messing with my magic that I still don’t understand. Two you're just so annoying” Jai whined. Sombra just clenched his jaw in anger. He could argue with this human or he could come up with a plan to escape or take over. He just needed time and to accumulate more magic.
