Friendship is a forest
2 - Awkward meeting
Previous ChapterI woke up late in the morning, and stretched my pale orange forelegs out, and turned over. I slowly let my mind slowly shake of the need to fall back to sleep, and got up. The floor creaked as I walked to the bathroom, then started my shower. I climbed in, and let the warm water run down my mane, and soaking my thin coat. Thoughts and doubts about meeting up with Twilight went through my head as I washed my hooves and dried myself off. The routine of every-ponies normal morning went by. I ate some hay, combed my hair and went out. It was at least two hours until noon, so I decided to get Twilight a gift. I walked around the streets, and found a quaint flower stall, and brought a small bunch of roses. I never knew much about mares and flowers. Finally, I walked to the Cafe, and sat down at a table. The wind rustled my mane, covering my sight with green. I shook my head, and looked up, meeting the gaze of Twilight. Her mane was combed, and had a small blue bow in it. She smiled gently, and blushed slightly as I gave her the flowers. She sat down, and looked at me intently. I started to worry, thinking that I missed something.
"I am sorry, North, but I think I gave you mixed messages." Twilight started the conversation with.
I just looked at her vacantly, waiting for her to go on.
"I did not mean for this to be a date." She told me.
"Um... I never thought it was." I responded, "Although I think Spike tried to set it up as one."
"But the flowers?" She asked.
"A gift? I thought I could get you something." I answered. Then it hit me. Roses are romantic flowers. I shoved my hoof in my face, realizing my stupidity.
Twilight just giggled, and I could not help but smile with her. Eventually, we got some daisy sandwiches, and we started to talk about her friends.
"well, there is Rarity..." Twilight began.
"She runs the boutique, right?" I asked.
"Yes." She confirmed, "She is generous and kind, and a very good stylist. And Applejack, a honest, hard working earth pony, and then we have Rainbow dash."
"I heard of her. Boasts a lot." That is what I heard, anyway.
"Yeah."
Before we could continue talking, a orange filly with purple hair trotted up to Twilight.
"Twilight, have you seen Sweetie Belle?" She asked.
"No, Scootaloo. Maybe she is in Apple Acres?" Twilight suggested.
With that, Scootaloo rushed off down the street, while I finished my sandwich.
"I need to visit Zecora, so I'll have to go." Twilight said.
"Of course, Twilight. I'll see you later." I got up, and slowly trotted away, as she left.
I went down the street, and found myself at Sugercube corner. I brought myself a lovely muffin, and went home. My house seemed cold and empty, and I was bored, knowing that I wouldn't be doing anything for a while. I put my muffin in my satchel, along with some other supplies, and decided to head out to Whitetail Wood. After being in Ponyville so long, I forgot how the wilderness would make me happy. The Everfree made me depressed, and compared to the bright trees there, was moody. After a good hour of fast trotting, I was in a clearing inside the forest, and lied down. I ate my muffin, and thought about all the work I had to do tomorrow.
