Chapter 20 - The Spirit of Fear, Fryght

The time: During Nightmare Moon's party.

The two changeling guards helping Princess Morphina fly down and notify Princess Celestia.

P.Celestia: Really?!  NOW!?

N.Moon: Boy, Ruinous isn't letting us breathe easy.

Discord: I TOLD you it'd be tough, but THIS is ridiculous.

Pinkie Pie gets volcanically angry.

P.Pie: How DARE she interrupt one of my BEST PARTIES!  C'mon, ponies, let's stomp that Fryght!

The ponies go get their Elements of Harmony.

*INTRO SEQUENCE*

Fryght's mournful cry echoes through the air as she scares everypony within earshot.

Fryght: RUUUUUUN! RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

Fryght laughs sinisterly as the Bearers of Harmony approach.

Fryght (mournful, wailing voice): What have we here?

T.Sparkle: Your worst nightmare.

P.Pie: HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT NIGHTMARE MOON'S PARTY!!

Fryght: Oh, pshaw, I do my best work at night.

N.Moon: *glares at Fryght* So... do... I!

The two night mares growl at each other, Nightmare Moon taking the same form she did while fighting Queen Chrysalis.

Fryght: COLD FEAR!

The ghostly-white pony sends a flurry of white flakes off her wings at the ponies.  Pinkie Pie and Nightmare Moon were the only two unaffected as the others ran in fear.  Pinkie Pie growled at Fryght, then screeched loudly.  Just as when the ponies fought Toxion, a suit of armor burst from Pinkie Pie's Element of Harmony, the same as Fluttershy's, only with balloons instead of butterflies.  The balloons on the sides floated Pinkie Pie up to Fryght's level.

P.Pie: MY TURN! CUPCAKE CANNON!

To the amazement of all, a gatling gun sprouted out of Pinkie Pie's armor, firing cupcakes at Fryght like a machine gun!  The spirit of fear did dodge them - until one caught her wing, sending her smashing to the ground.  Pinkie Pie's next salvo struck her square as she tried to get back up, dispelling her fear-fueled grip on the other ponies.  As Pinkie Pie came in for a landing, Fluttershy armored up, their two elements appearing on the ground under their hooves.  This made the resulting blast with the Elements of Harmony that much stronger, Fryght wailing out as she was dissolved!

Fryght: Savor this victory, for you will not WIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.Pie: Aw, *Cupcake Cannon!* EAT IT!

Just as Toxion before her, Fryght ended up meeting her end buried, this time under a mountain of cupcakes!

R.Dash: I've-said-it-before..... I'm-gonna-say-it-again.....

All Ponies Except Pinkie Pie: Pinkie Pie, you are so random!

Everypony laughs, then congratulates Pinkie Pie.  When the ponies returned to Princess Celestia and told her what happened, the ruler of Equestria nodded.

P.Celestia: The Elements of Harmony only act like this when Equestria is in dire straits.  It gives the Bearers of Harmony extra power.

Virtuna: *raises her natural front leg* Question from the audience? *The Equestrain princesses look at her* Do *points to her own necklace* WE gotta do *points to Pinkie Pie* that?

P.Celestia: I'm not sure.  I don't think Equestria's threatened enough for your elements to react like that.

Corinne: M-M-Maybe Ruinous is t-t-trying to s-s-s-stop us from s-s-s-s-synchroni-i-izing with the Heart of Equ-qu-qu-questria.

T.Sparkle: And if we DON'T do that, we can't stop him.

Discord: Good guess, but there's one other thing: Me.  After being beaten by you girls, especially most recently, Ruinous has to think about the possibility of me telling you about his plans and his henchponies.

P.Celestia: Whatever the reason behind Ruinous' attacks, we MUST be extra vigilant.  If he is willing to attack during a birthday party, he's willing to attack during ANYthing.  Prince Shiftshape, now is the time for you and I to work together.  Princess Morphina is the only reason why we got such a jump on Fryght.  I'm going to need guards from your country to help with security.

P.Shiftshape: You can count on us, Princess.

Ponies cheer as the two shake on it.

P.Pie: Now we have a LOT to celebrate!  *Vinyl Scratch takes her place at the DJ booth*  C'mon, everypony!  Let's dance!

As everypony dances and celebrates, the pile of cupcakes in the Ponyville Town Square moves.  Out emerges a white pegasus with white hair and no cutie mark.  She picks up a cupcake and takes a bite.  She murrs as she enjoys it, trotting off with the small pastry.
