After the Christmas party, the dazzlings packed up their things and returned to her mansion, however, they would stay with Sunset until January. The whole group was in the apartment, Sonata was preparing some snacks, Aria and Blues were playing video games, Adagio was listening to music, and Lemon was feeding Onix and Ray.
"Where will you spend the new year?" Sonata asked.
"Our parents will be busy, so we'll spend it at home," Blues said.
While they were talking about her plans, Sunset was on the bed, reading a book.
"And you Sunset?" Aria asked.
"W-What?" Sunset surprised.
"You'll spend the year with us, right?" Sonata asked.
"Of course, we should prepare" she said.
"Later, First, let's eat!" said Sonata, bringing the food
Later the group sat in Sunset's old diner to enjoy Sonata's cooking, she cook pizza.
"Sonata, do you have any preparations for the new year?" Adagio asked.
"Yes Dagi!" Sonata said happily. "I already have dinner" she said.
"What will we eat?" Aria asked.
"Let's see..." Sonata said, she took out a sheet of paper from her pants. "Pasta with tomato, sea bass
baked, and Blackberry Cake" said Sonata proudly.
"Baked sea bass? You forget that Sunset doesn't eat meat" Aria said.
"Actually, I eat meat" Sunset said, surprising everyone. "But not all kinds of meat, not very often, I only eat fish and turkey" she said.
"You could have said it before" Aria said.
"Never asked" Sonata said, eating.
"It doesn't matter. It's very late, we have to sleep" Adagio said.
"Can we stay Sunset?" Lemon asked.
"Sure, Adagio, you and your sisters will sleep downstairs. Lemon and I in my bed, and Blues on the couch. Is that okay?" Sunset said.
"Sounds good to me, Sunny," Adagio smiled.
Later, everyone was already asleep, except Lemon, she sat on the bed and woke up Sunset.
"Lemon? What's wrong?" Sunset asked.
"Sunset, I need to talk to you, or rather, I need your help" Lemon said.
"In what?" Sunset said.
"I... I've liked Sonata for a long time, and I want to ask her to be my girlfriend" she said, Lemon, nervously.
Sunset was very surprised, her friend was very independent and she was never in a relationship, at least not seriously.
"Wow, I didn't know you felt that way, since when?" Sunset asked.
"Since life seemed very beautiful to me, I was worried that I would never see her again, but at the Halloween party I saw her again and I regained hope. Since then, we have spent time together, we went out and we had a good time, that's why "I want to make it official and let's be a couple," Lemon explained.
"I understand, but I don't see how I fit into this," Sunset said.
"Tomorrow we will go shopping for the New Year's party, I want you to come with me to look for a gift for her" Lemon said.
"It's okay Zest, you've been my friend for a long time and I want you to be happy" Sunset smiled.
Lemon thanked her, after a hug between the two they went to sleep.
The next day:
Sunset got out of bed and went down to the first floor to have breakfast. The first thing she saw was Adagio in pajamas with her hair very disheveled and drinking a cup of coffee, who smile to seeing her.
"Good morning Adagio" said Sunset entering the kitchen.
"Good morning Sunny" she said yawning.
Just then Sonata appeared with Onix on her shoulder. She watched just as the two girls were talking. The two of them looked so cute together, it wouldn't be strange if they ended up together. Sonata snapped out of her thoughts when she heard little Onix's squeal. Making her react, and the two girls too.
"Hello" Sonata said nervously. "I'm sorry, but Onix and I were hungry" she said, petting the animal.
Sonata went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast; The little ferret jumped when he saw her owner.
"Hey buddy" she said, petting the animal. "Are you hungry?" She took out a box of ferret food from the cupboard.
When she finished, poured herself a cup of coffee. After a few minutes, Blues, Lemon, and Aria appeared.
"Good morning" Sonata said happily. "Who wants pancakes?" asked.
"ME!" said Blues and Lemon.
"Yes, whatever" Aria said, tired, and muttering.
"After breakfast, I assume we'll go shopping for everything, right?" Blues asked.
"Yes, sooner will better" said Sonata, drinking from her glass of milk.
"Okay, we can go once we're done" Sunset said.
Later, they were at the mall to look for everything they needed for the New Year's Eve party.
"Okay, I propose that we split up to find everything for tomorrow night" said Sunset. "Sonata and Adagio, the food, Aria and Blue, the decoration, Lemon and I will go get the drinks. We'll meet at the food court when we're done"
"Sounds good to me" said Sonata, reviewing the list.
"Are you coming Ari?" Blues asked.
"Don't bother so early and move on" Aria said, walking away.
"Hey, at least don't end the year like this" Blues said after her.
"Those two are like a couple" Adagio smiled.
"I don't doubt it, see you later" Sunset smiled.
The rest of the girls went to get their purchases.
Sunset and Lemon were far enough away. "So... where do you want to look?" Sunset asked.
"Wha?" Lemon said.
"We're not just going for the drinks, it's your chance to pick up something for Sonata" Sunset replied.
"But what could we find here? I don't think giving her some tacos will win her heart" said Lemon, leaning against a wall.
"In that case, come with me" said Sunset starting to walk.
"Where we going?" Lemon asked following her.
"To a place where you could possibly find something for Sonata; A place I've been visiting for a long time" Sunset said smiling.
Two hours passed since the group separated, the first to arrive at the meeting place, was Blues and Aria, after 10 minutes, Adagio and Sonata appeared.
"It's almost done!" Sonata said happily. "The only thing missing is the drinks" she said.
"Where are Sunset and Lemon? They took too long already" she said looking at the clock on her cell phone.
"I already sent them a message, they won't be long" said Blues.
"Did your sister get her arm stuck in another machine?" Aria said, smiling.
"Hey, that only happened once, but, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again" Blues laughed.
"I hope not, and she's okay," Sonata said worriedly.
Adagio noticed that her sister had a slight blush when talking about the human girl, she smiled knowing what she already suspected. Before asking her, the last girls arrived.
"Hi girls!" Sunset said smiling. "How did it go?" asked.
"We almost have everything, the only thing missing is you guys" Sonata said happily.
"Yeah, but we managed to buy them" said Sunset.
"Looks like you didn't get stuck like that time, little sister~" Blues said, smiling.
Everyone started laughing, except Lemon, who had an angry face. Sonata thought it was cute how she puffed out her cheeks because of her anger.
New Year's Eve: (9:00 p.m.)
The living room of the apartment was decorated in gold and black, the table was full of plates of food and drinks. They started with dinner, the atmosphere was very happy. After eating, they sat in the living room to drink a little, put on some music and danced. They also played games where the loser had to drink.
New Year's Eve: (11:50 p.m.)
"It's almost time" Sunset whispered to Lemon.
"I know, I'm coming" Lemon whispered. She got up from her seat and went straight to the blue-haired girl. "Sonata" Lemon called.
"Hmm? What's wrong?" Sonata asked.
"Can we talk?" Lemon said.
"Sure!" Sonata said following her.
Adagio watched as her sister went upstairs with the girl, she looked at Sunset with curiosity.
"Do you know what's going on?" asked.
"Yes" Sunset replied, sipping her drink.
"You want to tell me?" Adagio said.
"Something tells me you already know, right?" Sunset said smiling.
"I have a theory, can you confirm it~?" Adagio smiled.
Sunset told her what the older siren already knew, she had no problems with that, but maybe Aria did, luckily she was already drunk to realize it, with that Blues boy.
Lemon and Sonata sat on the couch in Susnet's room. Through the window lights and people ready for the countdown; The atmosphere was perfect.
"Why did you ask me to come?" Sonata asked curiously.
"There's something I want to tell you" Lemon said seriously.
"It is something serious?" Sonata asked, worried.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. What I want to say is that, I know that we have known each other for a short time, three months to be exact, and in a short time you became special to me, you have helped me a lot when I needed it the most" she said. Lemon, as sincere as she could be.
Sonata approached her and took her hand. "You are special to me too. You helped me smile again, ever since I lost my gem, you tried so hard to make me happy" she said smiling.
"R-Really?" Lemon said surprised.
"Yes... I like spending time with you" Sonata said a little embarrassed.
That surprised Lemon, to the point of blushing, but she wasn't going to let it affect her plans.
"It's good that you think that way, because..." then she took out a blue box from her pocket. "I bought this for you," Lemon said, blushing.
In it, it contained a necklace; Made of silver and gold, it was the figure of a taco, but what she had engraved on it surprised and excited the little mermaid. They had hearts embedded and the word "I love you."
"You are special to my Sonata, you always have been, I was just too clumsy to tell you. And also, I like you...a lot" said Lemon, blushing and nervous. "And I was wondering if you-"
But she couldn't finish the sentence, due to a certain pressure on her lips. The little siren was kissing her, with some tears in her eyes, she turned away from her.
"Yes, I want!" Sonata said excitedly. "I've also loved you for a long time"
That made Lemon smile, she took the necklace from her and gently placed it on the neck of her official girlfriend. Then Sonata started laughing.
"What's happening?" Lemon asked confused.
"I love you~" Sonata said smiling.
"I love you too~" Lemon said, smiling and hugging Sonata.
They looked at each other for a moment, Lemon came up to caress Sonata's face and leaned towards her face to kiss her soft lips. As if it were written, the moment her lips sealed, the pyrotechnic show began.
While they continued their moment, other girls enjoyed the show. Sunset was sitting, trying to calm Onix who was on her leg, a little scared by the noise, and Adagio was sitting next to her, watching how Aria was smiling drunkly next to the drunk Blues.
"Those two will miss the show" Adagio said looking upstairs.
"Leave them, they're on their own show" said Sunset petting her pet.
"Are you happy with how this year turned out?" Adagio asked.
"It was a difficult year, I hope next year will be better" Sunset smiled.
"It will be, Happy New Year Sunny~" Adagio said.
"Happy New Year Dagi" said Sunset.
They both hugged and enjoyed the rest of the fireworks. Many things awaited them this new year, but if they would stay together, everything will be fine.
