War, war never changes. Two hundred years ago, a war between the ponies of Equestria and the zebras of the Zebraca empire started due to a hostage crisis and a trade embargo of coal and gemstones. It was a long and grueling war that lasted for decades, so long that I lost track of time during the fighting. This is my story of the last two hundred years in the Wasteland on my own.

Upon finishing that song, I suddenly got the warning that I was exceeding my energy limit and would have to do an energy purge. Realizing that, I removed my glove, jammed my right hand into the ground, and shot a massive energy beam.“What was that?!” Luna practically yelled in my head,
At the song’s end, I reached the cave and stepped inside. Once inside and deep enough that the radiation was a bit more manageable, I sat down and breathed.“What do we need to do,” I asked Luna in my mind.“Well… we must find my sister first and foremost.” “And we must find the rest of the 81st.”

New quest perk added. Mechon power: because you are a mechon, you gain less damage to limbs. However, you have a limited power supply, and if you exceed that, there is, without an energy purge, a high chance that you will explode. This perk is exclusive to Atom. This perk is mutually exclusive to adamantium bone lacing and zebra brew Spirit edge: you are a Nibel spirit and gain certain combat perks. It allows you to use weapons specific to a spirit and increase your immunity to the effects of the pink cloud. This perk is exclusive to any Nibel spirit in your party.

Five years after the fall
Okay, there's one upside to the fallout, which is that it lasts only a short time. I can at least say I'm moving out, but that also means that it's a pain in the ass to find the rest of the 81st because they are doing the same, except for Master Sargent Moonwatcher, I immediately lost contact with her after the bunker was sealed. I don’t know if she died or was in a stable, but knowing her, it is probably the ladder. And Celestia is only Faust knows where.
So Luna fuck me with the moon…
“I heard that,” Luna shouted in my mind.
“Oh fuck you. I know; YOU SAID IT 50 FUCKING TIMES NOW,” I retorted, extremely frustrated.
“What the matter?”
“I am trying to find the rest of the 81st as well as your sister, and it is a major pain in the ass.”
“Are you doing ok?”
“Fuck no!” I shouted back, more to assure myself I wasn’t completely defeated. “The world just ended, and this is not the first time this has happened to me. I need to find your sister with ZERO fucking info on where she has gone, AND I need to find the 81st elite corp, with one member completely off the books, alone!” I finished speaking with Luna as I took a seat on a nearby rock .
“Hostle on the left!” Luna shouted, which prompted me to look over and see… what the FUCK IS THAT! It looks like a giant cockr-
“AUHG! DAMNIT!” I shouted as it jumped at me and latched onto one of the fabric parts of my salvager suit, luckily not piercing the material. At that gesture, I shook it off my arm, and it landed hard but was still not deterred and jumped at me again. Mid-air, I activated S.A.T.S (Stable Tec Assisted Targeting Spell) from my PipBuck, and the world slowed to a crawl, giving me a chance to aim and think. The spell indicated a 90% hit chance of a hit. Luna thought that I was going to throw a punch, but instead, I did a round kick that struck true. The creature flew backward into the other side of the ravine that I was in at the moment.
“What was that!” Luna shouted in my mind. She was surprised that I did a really accurate round kick.
“ご心配なく (don’t worry about it),” I responded, not realizing that I was speaking in Neighon.
“What?” Luna asked
“Sorry, I meant, don't worry about it.”
“HOW AM I NOT SUPPOSED TO WORRY ABOUT IT? YOU JUST DID A KICK THAT LOOKS MORE ZEBRA THAN ANYTHING, NOT TO MENTION YOU JUST SPOKE IN AN UNKNOWN LANGUAGE!”
“TURN OFF YOUR DAMN CAPS LOCK!” I mentally shouted with a sigh, rubbing my forehead because, damn, that hurts. “First of all, I’ve been training in martial arts for about 10 or 11 years, and any chance I get, of course, I can do accurate round kicks. And second of all, I was speaking in my second language other than dragon.”
“Hold up!” Luna said, thinking to herself, “You know multiple languages?”
“OF COURSE I DO! I LIVE ON A PLANET THAT IS MOSTLY INHABITED BY DRAGONS,” I shouted mentally. “You don’t just get to speak ponish when everyone speaks their own language, and you visit them regularly.”
“OW, MY EARS,” Luna snarled uncomfortably.
“Sorry,” I apologize. “Let's just not do that so we don't give ourselves headaches anymore,” I suggested, sitting down and pulling out Final Stand.
Final Stand is the pistol that I've held ever since my first and last operation for my original people and the first firearm I ever used in combat. From A gift from my mom to the one saving grace that I had during my early journey on fidara.
“Atom, are you doing ok?” Luna asked in my mind.
“Yeah,” I responded, pressing Final Stand’s barrel up against my forehead in thought, closing my eyes. “I'm just remembering something.”
“Are you…”
“FUCK NO!” I shouted out loud, surprised that she even thought of such a thing.
“Sorry,” Luna apologized. “It's just how sentimental you got while you were holding your pistol.”
“Tis ok,” I responded simply, “just remembering. How I got my pistol.”
“How did you?”
“You might want to sit down for this.”

The Beginning Of A New Journey: The Crash
35 years ago, 300,000 miles off of the surface of planet FID82 (Fidara)
USS Montana 45 minutes before mission starts. Main bay
May 29th, 2024 (I think)
“Last night, at 21:00, my husband, a father, passed away due to his injuries,” the speaker and captain of the ship stated, “but with a heavy heart, I still need to call upon a worthy volunteer to scout out the surface of the planet and to make sure that it is safe to send down a crew,” she then looked at all of the people that are gathered there, “do I have any volunteers?”
“I WILL!” I shouted after an eternity of silence.
“Son…”
“Don’t do that, Captain,” I stood up.
“ATOM!” Mom shouted, surprised that I volunteered, considering what happened last night, “it’s dangerous to do this, and you are only 16,”
“I know it is dangerous; that is the reason why I am doing this,” I stated, walking up to the stage, “look around,” I said, pointing around the bay, “no one else will do it, and I am no one important, no one will miss me, and I am willing to risk my life for us, even if I’m not remembered doing it.”
“Son, you are important to me,” she stated with tears in her eyes that I even thought so lowly of myself.
“Love it or hate it, but it is true,” I stated quite matter-of-factly. “You are the last person who thinks that everyone else either forgot about me or is dead,” I stood next to her on the stage. “No matter the cost, we must save our people.”
“ATOM!” a male voice shouted, prompting me to look over and see someone I had thought I would never see again. “That is not true yet. I’m still alive,” Peter stated,
Peter is a young German male who has been my first and only friend in life. He has lifted me up, and I can rely on him to stand up for me, and I will damn sure do the same thing. While I was finally evacuating, I noticed him out of the corner of my eye, trapped under some rubble, and so I stopped and got him out. He looked terrible, like he was trapped under there for a few days, and so, with the last of my reserves, I barely managed to teleport ourselves to the takeoff point. Suffering from a major burn-out, I was barely able to get us to the boarding ramp, and once we were inside, I passed out.
I woke up a few days later in a room that the “Captain” prepared for me. Still, I never received any news on Pete’s condition, even after I pushed them on it. Still, ultimately, I just gave up, concluding that I was too slow and that I failed my only friend; then, two days later, my father died in my arms, which was the icing on the cake, but here he is, standing in front of me, alive.
“Pete?” I asked, tearing up slightly
“Yeah?” he responded.
“PETE!” I shouted, hugging the friend that I thought I had lost. “I thought I lost you,” I said with my voice cracking.
“Why?” he asked, genuinely confused as to why I was acting like this.
“I was never told what happened to you, so I thought that I was too late when I rescued you,” I stated, breaking the hug.
“WHAT!” my mom shouted at the fact that I was never told about the condition of my friend
“Yep, just like what I thought, and these actions only prove my point.”
“What do you mean by that, Atom?” Peter asked
“I trust that mom told the medical crew to report what happened to you. Am I correct,” I asked, looking at her as she nodded, “Exactly. Sorry about my language, but that only fucking proves my point that no one gives two fucks about me or hates me, which is most likely the reason why the disobeyed DIRECT FUCKING ORDERS!”
“Atom…”
“Don’t do that to me,” I interrupted. “You know it is true.” I then pointed around the room again. “Look around. I am the only one willing and able to do this. Please let me, for the sake of humanity.”
“You will need a crew, though…” Mom stated, deep in thought.
“I will go with him,” Pete exclaimed, “he needs someone to keep him in check.”
“I will go, too,” a female voice shouted, prompting me to look over and see someone I never thought would work with me after my mistake two years before.
“Elle,” I greeted her.
10 minutes before the mission starts
The final meeting, the main hall outside of the launch bay 1
“SON HOLD UP!” Mom shouted behind me.
“Yes, Mom,” I said, turning around, looking annoyed. “I need to get to the bay, and no, you will not change my mind, so don’t even try,” I stated, about ready to turn around, and then I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“I know,” she stated, “I only came to wish you good luck, and to give you this,” she said before handing me a holster with a pistol inside. No, that is not any pistol; it is a Colt M1911.
Looking it over, I saw that there was nothing really special about it, but still, this is still a good pistol. But I am shocked at how Mom got one.
“how..wh..what?” I stuttered.
“I got this for you for your birthday, but due to the chaos of the past few weeks with me becoming captain, you ran into the runes to save people, you returned three days later, passing out, a bright glow coming from your arm and a strange mark appearing…” She started listing things off, but one caught my interest.
“Did you say a strange mark appearing on my arm?” I interrupted.
“Yes, why?” As soon as she said that, I pulled up my sleeve to reveal my cutie mark. Looking at it for the first time, I was so surprised that I actually had one, a bright blue star with two wings spreading out on either side surrounded by fire.
“How did you get there?” I asked myself.
“What?” mom asked, clearly hearing me
“Nothing,” I responded, covering it up again. “OOkay back to my first question. Why did you get me this?” I asked, holding up the pistol that she had given me.
“I noted that you like that pistol, so I wanted to get you one for your birthday, but due to what happened, I forgot about it until you volunteered to do this,” she responded casually, something that I did not hear often. “Anyways, I want to tell you something.”
“Shoot”
“Use this pistol to make your final stand if anything goes wrong.”
“I will. Do you have any mags”
“Two”
“It will work,” I said. After I said that, I looked at my watch and realized that I was almost late, “shit, love you, need to go.”
“I love you too,” she said so quietly that I could barely hear it.
After a few seconds, I was in the launch bay that would send me on my journey to FID82 and, ultimately, my new destiny.
Over FID82
Log One
Day one, I had never imagined that I would actually see possibly our new home with my own eyes from orbit. From what we can see, we have identified 14 continents, and I swear to god that one of them looks like a dragon. From what we can see, the diameter of this planet is about 10,917.5 miles in diameter, and it has distinct biomes like Earth. However, I do not know the composition of the atmosphere and if it is safe for humans to breathe even then. The most striking feature of this planet is, in fact, its three moons. I think that I will call them Imperial, Oracle, and Perception because they remind me of the moons of one of my favorite book series. It’s not important, but still, we need to get closer actually to do our experiments. I will continue this log when we are in low orbit and are able to conduct our research effectively. We are finally in the low orbit of FID82, and I have to say that the more we conduct this research, the more I think this is, in fact, the planet that WOF was staged on… but how… that planet was made up? Anyway, from several tests on the planet’s atmosphere, it matches almost perfectly with Earth’s, minus the extreme amount of carbon and sulfur that Earth had, and other scans indicate that there is, in fact, sentient life on this planet anyway from what we can see, it only appears to be on two of the 14 continents that I codenamed Pyrrhia and Pantala due to appearance. But still, neither is good enough for us to land on due to the heavy population and other issues, so I think we will land on continent A24W, which is on the other side of the planet, to allow us to set up at least before we encounter the locals just in case they are hostile. But more research is needed before we can confirm a landing sight. I will have a full report tomorrow. Captain Atom Travis signing off.

My theory was correct. A24W is entirely uninhabited, so we can settle there unimpeded, but… what is going on?.... What SHIT!!!!
Meanwhile…
“What happened?” I asked myself out loud as I picked myself up off the ground. Crew, do you copy?”
“I copy atom,” Reef (Peter) responded
“Still kicking,” Zoey (Ella) responded
After a few seconds, all seven other members checked in. “What happened?” I asked, wondering why that happened.
“Metior crashed into us and fucked up the engines,” Reef responded.
“Try to get the engines back online, Pete. I will try to get in contact with The Montana.” After I said that, Reef saluted and returned to the engine room, and then I went to the cockpit to contact The Montana. “GOD FUCKING DAMNIT WORK YOU THING” I shouted after five minutes and the central computer failing to work, “is power offline?” I asked through my communicator
“We are on reserves, and the systems are focusing on life support, doors, and lights,” Reef responded.
“Okay, relocate pow…” I was cut off as I heard cracking from behind me “oh SHIT!!!!!!” I shouted as the front viewport suddenly shattered, and I felt a sharp stab of pain through my knee. But still, despite that, time suddenly seemed to slow down, allowing me to think before I had an idea. I teleported to the right side of the door jam and shut the door, sealing that room. With gravity being added back to my body, I collapsed due to intense pain in my right knee. Looking at it, I was so surprised to see a single piece of glass sticking out of it. Lifting my communicator, I realized that something must have struck it, making it unusable, so with a grunt, I rolled over to my left side and dragged myself across the floor to a wall-mounted communicator. Using my telekinesis, I grabbed it and spoke, “Pete, do you copy?”
“ATOM! Are you okay? I was so…” Reef (Pete(he is called that because I misspoke and said Reef instead of Pete))
“Reef,” I said, cutting him off, “disable gravity in the entire ship.”
“Why?”
“I cannot walk…” I said with hesitation in my voice, “Long story, the cockpit exploded, which is the reason why I am using a wall comu…” I was cut off by an explosion and a siren that was going off inside the ship. “Shit,” I said to myself before turning the transmission ship-wide. “ABANDON SHIP! DO NOT WORRY ABOUT ME! I WILL SEE YOU ON THE SURFACE!” with that said, I crawled my way to an open closet with padding in it. Just as the door closed, the ship hit the surface, knocking me out and marking the beginning once and for all.

Chapter 3 Pt. Two: Rise to New Challenges

“That was how I got my pistol,” I said simply.
“I am going to assume there is more to it,” Luna responded simply.
“あなたは正しいです” I responded in Japanese.
“What?”
“Sorry,” I said. “My mouth has been constant recently. I wish that it didn’t, anyway; I meant to say that you are correct.” With that said, I looked over and was surprised when I saw my telekinesis putting together my M1 Garand. “How long…”
“15 minutes,” Luna responded simply. “It just took the parts out of your bag, cleaned them, and has been putting them back together for 5 minutes .” As soon as she said that, I suddenly remembered.
“Right… Before the bombs fell, I took apart my Garand to clean it, and when I was about to start, I was called to the main room. I thought it was something minor and picked up the parts and some cleaning supplies, hoping to clean it later,” I explained. “Anyway, that is not important. I want to continue with my story.”
“Sure.” With that said, I began one again.
Thirty-five years ago, date unknown…
“What happened?” I mumbled to myself as I finally began to wake up.
“Where am I?” I asked. As I struggled to get myself off the ground, I was painfully reminded why I could not walk. “Gah fuck!” I shouted as there was a sharp lance of pain coming from my right leg, and looking down, I saw that the piece of glass was still in my knee.
“Fuck,” I muttered to myself as I stared at it for a few seconds, then heard what sounded like growling.
Quieting myself, I dragged myself to the door jam. I opened it and looked around the corner. To my surprise, there were two dragons, both of whom had their backs turned to me, not even hearing the door opening or my outburst, which was lucky for me.
Using my telekinesis, I opened one of the first aid boxes on one of the mag lock shelves, extracted some Ketamine, and injected it into myself to get up. I was wincing as the pain was reduced to a slight throb, and getting up, but little did I know that I had two sets of eyes on my back.
Staring at my knee for a bit, I felt watched. I looked up and saw two shadows. Placing my hand on my pistol, I turned around, surprised by the dragons. One of them flinched, and the other pointed its spear at me. Making a hand gesture to put the spear down seemed only to get the dragon with a spear pointed at me to get it angrier as its eyes narrowed. At this point, I was getting to the end of my patience, my eyes narrowing; I gave one last warning before finally turning off the safety and applying pressure to the trigger.
The other one, seeing what I was doing, tried to get the one to put the spear down, but it was too late. I pulled the trigger and shot the dragon right through the head, killing it almost immediately. Looking at the other one, it was shaking like a leaf in the wind.
“Stand down, and I will not kill you,” I said, doubting that it could understand me, but I seemed to have gotten the message as it dropped its spear and threw its hands up. Looking at the dragon, my eyes softened once again, and reholstered my pistol before looking at that dead dragon… the one I killed.
With that realization, I almost broke into tears then and there because I realized that I just killed a sentient creature. As if my body was on autopilot, I reached into one of the shelves, pulled out a white cloth, turned around, and walked over to the dead dragon.
Upon reaching it, I knelt down next to it and put the cloth down before I searched the neck for something. I found it a few seconds later and pulled off what looked like dog tags. Looking at the name, I realized it looked like Draconic from D&D. Looking at the name, I saw that it was.
“Sargent Windshere: Skywing Royal Guard.”
“Sorry, Sargent,” I said quietly to myself as I unfolded the cloth. I stopped when I felt a talon rest on my shoulder, only to resume a few seconds later. After five or so minutes, with some help from the other dragon, we were able to cover up the dead sergeant and show proper respect towards him.
“Thank you… for the help,” I said to the dragon, still doubting he could understand me
“No, thank you,” the dragon responded clearly, surprising me.
“Di…did you just understand me?” I asked, shaken.
“I, um… I have been able to understand you ever since you gave me the warning,” he responded, still looking shaken after what happened a few minutes earlier. “Wait, you can understand me?”
After a moment of silence, I declared, “Well, this is awkward…should we introduce ourselves or… I don't know… fight or… FUCK THIS! My name is Cpt. Aom Travis of the SLIA32, and you are?”
“Umm, Recrute Cloud of the Sky Wing, Royal Guard…” he responded, shocked by my outburst.
“Well, it's a pleasure to meet you,” I said, holding my hand out to him.
“Likewise, I suppose.”
“So… what now?” I asked. “Cloud, I do not want to kill you, but if you get in my way, you will leave me no choice. So what will it be?”
Cloud looked shocked at my bluntness and hesitated to reply. But when he did, it surprised me: “Atom, you may go, grab what you need. I will handle Sgt. Windshere, but the others will not, so be warned.”
“What new?” I asked sarcastically, which got a chuckle from Cloud. “It is not like I crashed on an alien planet, have a GODDAMNED piece of glass in my knee, or without my crew” I was listing things off as I walked to a box, grabbed a bag, and began to pack it up.
“Atom… you have a weird sense of humor,” Cloud interjected, interrupting me
“It is who I am. Deal with it,” I responded. Now completely packed up, giving myself another shot of Ketamine, I finally asked, “How long has it been since I crashed?”
“Three days.” As soon as Cloud said those words, I realized something: I was unconscious for three days. “...ou ok?”
“What?”
“I asked if you are okay?” Cloud responded simply.
“Yes,” I was half lying because I had no idea I had been out for so long. “I'm Just… surprised.” Cloud nodded in understanding as he put a wing on my shoulder.
After five minutes of him doing that, I knew it was time for me to go. “Cloud, thank you for being here with me, but I must get moving. You may be a good friend…” I was saying, but I stopped myself. “I just need to go.” Not waiting for a response, I stepped towards the door, only to stop when I felt a talon reach onto my shoulder.
“No, Atom, thank you. I may not be able to fully forgive you for killing Windshere, but I can at least give you this.” After he said that, he hugged me, which I returned after a few minutes. He broke the hug, saying, " Now then, Captain, where will you go now?” to which I responded.
“Wherever life takes me. See you around, kid,” and with those words, I left the closet and readied myself to brave the new world I was thrown into. If only I knew what happened next.
Five minutes later.
“SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT!” I shouted, five FUCKING minutes in the world, and I am already getting chased by dragons, AGAIN. Now running hurts like a bitch, but I need to do it to survive.
After six more minutes of running, jumping, and crawling, I found myself cornered between the dragons and a sheer cliff face. “Shit,” I muttered to myself as I heard the dragons land behind me, which prompted me to turn around. Now, I did not pull out my pistol. Instead, I prepared myself to fight unarmed.
“Come at me,” I taunted, which made a dragon jump at me, exactly what I wanted. I sidestepped and planted a punch, surprising the dragon. As the dragon hit the ground, the other lunged at me, forcing me to block the spear, and the dragon, with its momentum, caused me to lose my balance. Catching myself, I went into a grapple, fighting for control. I felt the dragon trying to do the same and managed to scratch my face with its tail.
“Fuck, that will leave a scar,” I muttered to myself. Surprising the dragon as it understood me.
“Umm… did you just speak?” the dragon I was grappling asked, and I was surprised to learn that it was, in fact, female.
“Yes…” I responded, trying to break away from the grapple. I could not and realized that her talons were digging into my knuckles. Pulling her into my knee, I used the opportunity to break free and delivered a round kick to her face, causing her to lose her balance.
“Fuck this,” I muttered to myself as I drew out my pistol and spun it around, my finger holding by the barrel and moving it so I could pistol whip my opponents. Looking at them both, the one that I was trying to get up and grab was the spear, while the other one was disorientated.
Looking at the one now up and pointing his spear toward me, we started to circle each other like a pair of tigers sizing each other up. I struck first as I charged towards him, my left hand ready to punch, catching him off guard as he tried and failed to block a low punch. With my opportunity, I then wound up trying to strike him with the butt of my pistol, but he managed to block it, turning our fight into a slugfest. Despite his strength advantage, I had speed and a smaller frame, which allowed me to avoid most of his attacks. I finished him with an eye gouge allowing me to hit him with the butt of my pistol, knocking him out cold. Sizing up the other one, she looked nervous as she saw her chances of success rapidly dwindling.
“Stand down, and I will not hurt you,” I warned, now pointing my pistol toward her, causing her to finch.
“Wait!” she shouted
“What?” I asked, “You threatened me!” as soon as I said that, she looked down ashamed as she took my words to heart.
“Just leave,” she stated. With that said, I looked to the right and looked back at her before running off. After running for three more minutes, I found an outcropping and desired to see what I was going up against. Looking out, I saw a vast continent with a palace to my right and mountains surrounding me with an endless sea. Looking out, I realized that my work was just getting started.
“Ok, new world,” I said to myself. “Bring it on; I am ready.” As soon as I said that, I returned to back to the forest to begin my new life…

Greetings, my name is Fireflight Startrottor and for all who like and support my story, I am so sorry that I have left you all hanging for the longest time due to my shit update schedule. Recently I have been busy and I have been having writer’s block meating that I have not really been writing. Now I will state this once, I am not canceling this story, I have come to far to do it. If I wanted to, I would have done it after the prologue. Now then of course, I will try to get back to work eventually but until then, this will be on hiatus until further notice.
Before I close this off, I want to thank Draco Moon, Somber, Fiaura, and Heartshine for giving me this opportunity to write and to all of you who have read and liked my train wreck of a story. And for all of you, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope to be able to save my story from being forgotten.
Thank you for understanding and supporting me throughout this journey. Until then, I will be exploring the wasteland and try to grow as a writer and a person. Until we meet again.

Chapter 5: New and Old Friends

50 years after the bombs fell
I do not know why I came to Hoofington, but I did, and I am walking along a highway in the middle of what looks like a fucking graveyard! “Jesus…what happened here?” I asked, expecting a reply, but I never got one. Come to think of it, I have been in the hoof for two months now, and I have not gotten anything from Luna, but I almost feel the presence of something else.
“Why did I decide to come here? I mean, like none of my…AUG!” of course, I was not paying attention! I managed to trip on a bone in the middle of the road. However, I refused to let this deter me. I quickly got back up and flung the bone into one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of bone piles strewed about.
Dusting myself off, I heard something equivalent to a zombie groan a few seconds before over two hundred red bars appeared on EFS. Without saying a word, I pulled out Final Stand and my combat knife and prepared myself for a fight. A few seconds later, a pony-like creature dragged itself out of one of the bone piles before lunging at me. Narrowly dodging it, I kicked it into the side, sending it flying as another appeared behind my back. Seeing it over my shoulder, I elbowed it, causing the skull to collapse on itself.
“HOW FUCKING MANY OF THESE THINGS ARE THERE!” I shouted after shooting the 42nd one and kicking in the head of another as my combat knife found the head of a third. After reloading, I felt something grab onto my leg. I thought I was one of those feral fuckers and was about ready to kick it off, but luckily I looked down a saw a filly clinging to my leg with a look in her… glowing eyes that said, “Please help me.”
“Hang on” was all that I said to her as I was about ready to teleport. Understanding my message, she clung on tightly as one of those feral…things bit me on the arm, causing me to lash out with a punch, caving in its face right before we teleported away.
Now there were two things that I hated most, fighting on low power/burnout or fucking blind teleporting. Landing hard on the ground with an oof, I felt the filly’s grip slip a bit as we hit the ground hard. Pushing myself off the ground with a groan, I looked around, not recognizing our location, until I saw something I never wanted to see: the core. Staring at it for a few seconds, I pretty soon heard what sounded like screaming until it reached a fevered pitch and began to hurt me. Picking up the filly once again, I made a break for it. After running for a few minutes, the screaming stopped, allowing me to catch my breath.
“What the fuck was that?” I asked myself as I looked at the unconscious filly in my arms. Finding an empty bag around me, I stuck her in gently and decided to keep moving.
After walking for 5 minutes, I noticed some ruffling in the bag I had put the filly in. Reaching in and pulling her out, I noticed that she looked terrified as she stared up at my face.
“Are you okay?” After I asked that, she simply nodded. “Can you speak?” another nod. “Too terrified?” one last nod. “What is your name?” Unsurprisingly, I got no response. “Do you mind if I call you kid?” she shakes her head. Putting her down, I pointed next to me, and she nodded, standing next to me. “Ok, Kid, we are Oscar Mike,” I said as we began to move once again.
“What are you?” the filly asked after 10 minutes of walking, staring up at me.
“I am a human,” was my response.
“I’ve never seen anything like you before. Where are you from?”
“Not from Equestria.” As soon as I said that, she gave me a flat look. “Fine,” I exclaimed, rolling my eyes. “I am originally from the United States of America but now from the United Relm Republic.”
“I never heard of the country… Are you even from this planet?”
I stared at her for a few seconds, thinking ‘shit’ before finally being honest. “No, you are correct. The U.R.R. is not from Equis.”
“Why are you here?” she asked accusingly.
“You will learn in due time,” was my response, putting a hallowed look over my eyes that she must have noticed because she nodded.
“So… what is your name?”
“Atom Travis, just call me Atom… what is yours?”
“You will learn in due time,” she responded with a smirk.
I chuckled lightly before saying, “Touche, I am serious, though.”
“Just call me…” she said, interrupted by flapping as we both turned around. She got into a defensive stance, and I pulled out my pistol until I saw a very familiar pegasus.
“DERPY!” I shouted to her as she got closer and bowled right into me with a massive hug. “I missed you too, old friend.”
“You to know each other?”
“We met during the war and became fast friends.”
“WHAT! YOU ARE PRE WAR!?!”
“Yes,” I responded with a shrug, putting Derpy down. She looked away before she made a head gesture, which I understood, and then I nodded. As soon as I did that, she flew off once again. “Ok, do you mind if I just call you kid? I am tired right now.”
“I do not.”
“Good, because we are Oscar Mike,” I said before I… no, we began to walk once again.

Journal Entry No. 1
I have decided to write a journal about what is happening in the wasteland. I am no longer alone. Five weeks ago, I managed to find a new friend, her name is Scarlet Rose or just Scarlet, we may have been traveling together for a short amount of time, but damn, I needed this. I was on my own for too long now, even if my new companion is a… zombie filly (I guess), but the company is greatly appreciated. Anyway, it is time for us to move out once again. I will write whenever I can, but until then, this is Gen. Atom Travis signing off.
Closing my notebook, I looked over to Scarlet. “Are you ready to move out?”
Scarlet looked over at the 22 pistol that I had given her a few weeks back. " Almost,” she responded, pulling her attention back to it. I just need to finish reassembling it, and… okay, I got it.”
“That's Good because something is coming,” I said, pulling out my Garand and pointing it in the direction the red bar was coming in. Looking at Scarlet in the corner of my eye, I saw that she was having issues with standing up on her hind legs. “Lay prone,” I suggested, doing the same. Looking down the iron sights of my rifle, I say a lone mutant bat thing. Taking a deep breath, I pulled the trigger, and with a single shot, it was put down for good.
Pushing myself off the ground, I looked over at Scarlet. She was brown, like my skin, with a deep maroon mane. And she was still lying prone. “You can get up now,” was all I told her, but she must have seen something. Did you see something?”
“I thought I did,” she responded. “Hey, Atom”
“Yes, Scarlet?” I responded, guessing what she was going to ask.
“Do you mind if you sing for a bit? I heard you a few days ago, and you sounded good, and I want to hear it again…” she said nervously, dragging her hoof against the dirt. I was caught off guard by her question because I expected her to ask about… earth, but no, she asked if I could sing. Shrugging, I pulled up my Pipbuck and selected one of my favorites

After I finished the song, Scarlet could only look in surprise at how well I had sung.
“Damn,” she muttered to herself, “um, Atom, do you think you could sing some more? I umm really enjoyed it,” she said, looking embarrassed. Shrugging once again, I jumped into another one that I liked .

Scarlet just stared at me in shock, mostly because of A. the length of the song and B. how well I could sing. “Atom…”
“Yes?” I responded, thinking she would ask me to sing again, but hell, I was wrong.
“You have never told me much about your family or home… why?”
Getting a hallowed look in my eyes, I responded, “Some secrets are better left unsaid for the mental health of both you and myself… do you really want to know what happened to Earth?”
“Yes,” she said with finality.
Sighing, I responded, “Very well then. I just hope you can take the fall of not only my planet but my species. I will not hold anything back. So are you sure you want this?” As soon as I said that, Scarlet nodded, which made me nod in return, “Very well, then. I will tell you the story of the fall of Earth…”

Chapter 7 pt 1: The Fall of Earth Day 1

“Atom, are you awake?” Dad shouted up my stairs
“Yes!” I responded, dragging myself out of bed and getting dressed before going downstairs to prepare for another long day of school. “Two more weeks until my birthday; hopefully, I will be done with school by then,” I muttered to myself, and then I heard something. A profound sense of responsibility, not just for myself but for my family and my future, weighed heavily on me.
Opening my window, I thought that I saw something until something exploded outside. Running downstairs, I shouted at the top of my lungs, “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!” but looking around, I saw no signs of my parents. Running upstairs once again, I grabbed a backpack and began to pack until something exploded and the roof collapsed, and I was knocked out…
Modern Day
“Is that it?” asked Scarlet quizzically.
“You are being impatient, little one,” I remarked, my annoyance evident in my voice. “Yes, I was knocked out, but there is still more, so if you are done interrupting, may I continue? It is already hard enough to tell this story. Not even my children know it…”
“YOU ARE A FATHER!” Scarlet shouted suddenly.
“Yes,” I responded with a flat tone, “I have two biological children… the twins… and two adopted. Now, can I please get back to the story?” Scarlet simply nodded, and I was about to return to my story, but she opened her mouth and closed it. “If you have a question, just ask it.”
“If you do not mind me asking, how old are you?”
“I was 46 when the bombs fell, but I look 21 because I lost the ability to age, but that is a story for another time,” I responded with a shrug. “Now, can I please return to my story?” She nodded, and I returned to my story…
Date…unknown… time… unknown… year 2024
Groaning, I looked around only to see a bright light all around me. Am I dead? I thought to myself until I felt a sharp pain in my right arm. Looking down at it I saw that a similar glow was coming from my hand. Moving my hand around, something above me shifted and i realized that it was a pile of rubble on top of me. After a bit of time, I was able to crawl out to the remnants of the roof of the house. Looking around the remnants of my neighborhood, I saw that out of all the houses, my house was somewhat in good condition. Releasing that my stairs were somewhat clear of debris, I moved my way down the stairs into the ruins of the house.
Walking through the hallway until I found something surprising, the entryway was fairly clear. Stepping in, I found a pair of hiking boots that I put on quickly. Standing up, I put on an orange sweater and a brown hat that I have had ever since my trip to Ireland in first grade. Walking into the living room and reaching above my fireplace behind a picture to feel the grip of one of the many machetes that we had throughout the house and putting it on my belt. Grabbing a backpack that was sitting by the couch and looking around the living room to see if i can find anything that will be useful, upon not finding anything, i navigated my way upstairs again and i grabbed a flashlight, a pocket knife, an inhaler to manage my asthma, a few replacement clothing objects (pants, shirts, socks underwear and other things.), and even grabbing a book that was in well enough shape.
After grabbing what I needed and throwing it into my backpack, I navigated my way downstairs hoping to find a way into the basement but had no such luck as the staircase had debris covering it. Looking for a possible entrance before I was going to exit the house and finding none until I remembered something. Reaching my hand towards the block and I was about ready to start until I thought that I heard a faint “help” from outside. Bursting through the front door, I looked around until I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. A person was trapped under some rubble. Running over to them, I began attempting to lift the object up. After trying several more times, I thought that there was no hope of saving that person, the object is too heavy, even for me. Reaching out my hand once again and focusing intently on the object and… nothing happened, I was about to give up until I felt a strange pull and the same glow that was around me just a few hours before was now around the debris. Straining a tiny bit, I removed the debris from the person and helped them up and moved them into my house where I could treat their injuries to the best of my ability.
Upon putting the person down gently onto the floor, I rushed into the bathroom to grab what I could. Upon making my third run into the bathroom for more medical supplies, I heard something shift inside of my parents bedroom, dropping the supplies off, I went in. Compared to most of the house, my parents' bedroom was in the worst condition. Looking around, I heard something shift again. Using my telekinesis, I removed the rubble from… my father. Upon realizing who it was, I rushed to get him out with my telekinesis and into the living room to treat his injuries. Running around the house again, I grabbed my phone from the kitchen only to see I was getting an unusual signal. Pressing it i was surprised to find that it was a government massage.
“Attention all survivors, with the recent events i know that it seems like that we will be able to weather this storm but there are more meteors coming and it seems unlikely that we as a species will be able to survive. Now it seems like all hope is lost but with the disaster came something that might be our salvation. Near the city of Bozeman Montana, an unusual ship was found near the debris. Upon some research, the ship is usable and will be leaving on may 20th and will find a new home. To all who make it, godspeed i say to you and keep our spices alive… emergency broadcast, White House Washington D.C. message is set to repeat”
As the massage started again, I looked outside then looked at the date on my phone, May 17th 2024. Releasing that we only had three days to make it to the launch site I began to panic, there was no way that my dad could drive and even if he could, we had no idea where it was. Looking at the survivors in my living room, I realized that I could not panic yet, they were depending on me. Closing my eyes to calm myself but I was interrupted when I felt something from about 2 miles to the southwest of town. It almost felt like the grass was speaking to me, opening my eyes, I began to load the three other survivors into the white jeep that was sitting in my driveway. Using the trees and grass as my guide, I reached the ship, helping the survivors out of the jeep and onto the boarding ramp. I looked behind myself before I went to the jeep once again.
“Hey kid! What are you doing?” one of the survivors on the boarding ramp shouted.
“There are more survivors out there” I responded with finality. “I am going to save them” as soon as i said that, i got back into the jeep and drove off into the runes to save those who cannot save themselves, and possibly my last act in this life.

Chapter 7, part 2: Rescue the ones in need
“I do not care if I will die; others need my help, and I am the only one who is willing and able to do it.”
Now, running into the ruins of Bozeman might seem like a bad idea, and honestly, it is, but I still need to help the survivors, even if it kills me. Or, That would be the case if…
“GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!” I, of course, ran out of fuel while I was driving into town. I ran to the back of the jeep to grab my backpack, and I began to walk. After walking for a few minutes, I began to meditate, thinking to myself about how I could get people to the capitol ship. Then I thought of my house, and then, out of nowhere, a light blue aura wrapped around me, and I vanished into thin air…
Modern Day
“What happened?” Scarlet asked with a curious look on her face
“I teleported…” I responded with a shrug, grabbing the flask on my hip. While drinking, I noticed that Scarlet was looking at me funny. " What is on your mind, Kid?”
“What are you drinking?” she blurted out in an instant.
“Whisky…” I hesitantly replied, closing the flask and putting it on my hip.
“Why?”
” Because when you become a soldier, you also become an alcoholic.” I responded with a shrug. “Anyways, can I get back to my story?” As soon as she nodded, I got back to telling my story…
May 17th, 2024
Pushing myself off of the living room floor after the faceplant that I took after, I somehow managed to teleport to my house. Looking around, I heard something rustle before I heard what sounded like laughter. Now, I might have been paranoid, but I still pulled out my machete and approached the sound carefully.
“Who’s there?” I asked, and the laughing stopped immediately. I took a few more steps forward and asked, “Who is there? You are making me nervous.” After I said that, the laughing started again quietly until reaching a feverish pitch, causing me to grip my machete tighter. “Final warning,” I said, my voice and eyes hardening. “Who are you? Why are you here?” I said, rounding a corner and jumping back as something jumped at me.
Whatever it was, it was no longer human. It had a feral look in its eyes and what seemed like blood on its lips. I spent too much time looking at it, and as a result, it jumped onto me. Now, I was so surprised by that to the point that I dropped my machete and grabbed onto its face as it tried to bite me. After fighting it for a minute, I pulled it into my head in some sort of a head but, causing it to get off of me, and staggered. Now, this amiably made me stagger, too, but I recovered quicker. As soon as I got my bearings back, I unleashed a sidekick into its head, knocking it far enough away to catch my breath as well as pick up my machete.
As it got up, I was already staring it down, making sure to keep an eye on it. A few seconds later, I unleashed a rallying cry and charged at it, catching it off guard with my bold gambit. Slashing at it with my machete, it managed to get out of the way of my admittedly sloppy swing, but it did not dodge the punch that I threw as it got out of that way. It surprised me when it slashed at me with a knife that it must have had on its belt, but I must have gotten lucky as the slash was just as sloppy as mine, which allowed me to parry the slice with my machete. Countering the slice, I was able to get an opening, allowing me to deliver a chop into its stomach. As I was trying to pull it out for another, the thing stabbed me in the lower back just above the kidney.
“God fucking damnit” I shouted as I grabbed the creature's head again and pulled it into my knee. I then kneed it again before slamming its head against the ground. Pulling the machete out of its stomach, I stood over it, the bloody machete in my right hand and my left keeping the knife in my back. The creature soon gave a feral growl and tried to get up and lunge at me. Seeing this, I did one last chop into the back of its neck, putting it down for good.
Modern-day
“And that was the day where I killed for the first time,” I said with a hallowed look in my eyes, hoping to get the memory out of my head. “Now, I wish I did not have to do that, but he left me no choice.”
“What happened next?” Scarlet asked quizzically.
“I will not bore you with the details, but throughout the day and into the night, using my ability to teleport, I was rescuing people in Bozeman. Then, I eventually went into other towns, saving all who I could. But right now, I think we should rest. I will finish the story tomorrow,” I said in finality. Now, Scarlet did not like the answer that I gave her, but she accepted it and volunteered to take the first watch. When she volunteered for it, I was hesitant, but she soon argued that I needed rest after telling her my story all day. “Very well then…” I said hesitantly. “Just wake me up in a few hours, Ok?” she nodded, and I settled in for a restless sleep…
