Ponyville Kindergarten
Chapter 14: Out of the Pink
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTwilight was dropped off and she quickly scampered into Kindergarten with a big smile. Pinkie said she had a surprise for her yesterday and she was so excited that she had trouble sleeping last night thinking up all the possible explanations. Her mom came into her room in the middle of the night and said she was tired of her tossing in turning. That scared Twilight enough to go to sleep, but today was the day! She didn't have to wait anymore!
"Pinkieeeeeee!" Twilight ran between the other foals, frantically looking for her pink friend.
"Psst! Over here!" Twilight turned around to see Pinkie crouched behind a large pillow wall. "Lootent Twilit! Theys behind you!"
What? She looked over her shoulder but didn't see anypony. She looked back with a weird face. Pinkie was still waving at her so she trotted over. "What's wrong?"
"Quick!" She grabbed Twilight and pulled her down. "Theres baddies." She whispered with wide eyes.
"Baddies?"
"Baddies!"
Twilight looked again but only saw two colts playing with a ball. "I'm confused."
"Hows you confuzzled!? Thems baddies and we needs to hide." Pinkie shook her head. "I thoughts you smarter, Lootent."
"Don't you mean Lootenat?"
"Thas what I said. Lootent."
Twilight sat down with a plop and was confused. Pinkie pulled her down again with a hiss.
"Um, so what do these baddies look like?" She asked, still not sure what was happening.
"Hedras!"
"What's that?"
"You knows. Five big heads that go rawr!" Pinkie went onto her back hooves and tried to look big and scary with her forehooves. She waved them for a bit before realizing that her head was out so she ducked back down with a false whimper.
"You mean a hydra?" Twilight looked again and didn't see anything. "Wait, is this pretend!?"
"Shhhh! The hedras might hear you." Pinkie placed a hoof on Twilight's muzzle with a very serious face.
"Hello?" A new timid voice entered from above their barricade. Pinkie poked her head out, reached out, and pulled Fluttershy behind as well.
"Fwuttershy, we must stays very quiet." Pinkie said seriously. The yellow filly was trembling with very wide eyes.
"W...why? Wha...whas happening?"
"Hedras." The way she said it, it was like the most dangerous thing in the world. Twilight almost believed it. Fluttershy definitely believed it because she squeaked and put her wings over her eyes and started shaking.
"Don't worry Fluttershy, there is no hydra. Pinkie is playing pretend." Twilight hugged her friend and she slowly stopped shaking.
"Really?" She looked up with big eyes.
"Yep. No hydra."
"Oh..." Fluttershy slowly got up and looked around, still a little scared. "I don't think I like pretend."
"Aww, Twilit, I was having fun."
"But you scared Fluttershy."
"...thas true." Pinkie turned to face the yellow filly. "M'sorry Fwuttershy. I was having fun."
"...is okay." Fluttershy kicked a hoof, looking uncomfer...uncomfortop...uncomfortable. "I...umm, I will go over there, if ummm, if that's okay." She pointed to the plushie corner.
"Thas okay, Fwuttershy." Pinkie waved and Fluttershy slowly trotted away. "Now, Lootent Twilit, the hedras was looked to be over there!" She pointed to the wooden block area before rolling over to a shelf. "Quick! We must hide."
Twilight rolled her eyes but rolled over too. "Now what?"
"We wait and watch." Pinkie got a serious face again and looked at air. Twilight squinted and for a second she thought she had seen something. She gasped and Pinkie asked, "what did you see!?"
"The hydra is going after that pony!"
"Quick, confuzzle it!" Pinkie picked up a toy and threw it. It hit the hydra with a thump and it turned to look at the two.
"Oh no, General. It's seen us!"
"Run!"
The two fillies screamed and rushed away. They ran with their stubby legs around the kindergarten, passing other foals and even dashed underneath Miss Celestia's legs. And then, after a while, they flopped to the ground, giggling. They panted a little with big grins on their muzzles.
A low growl shook the ground causing Pinkie and Twilight to perk up and look around with scared eyes. A dark shape loomed over them and this time the two fillies screamed with terror. They hugged each other tightly and screwed their eyes shut.
"That's enough, Luna. You're scaring them." Miss Celestia's calm voice rang out. Twilight opened her eyes hesitantly and saw Miss Luna with a sad face. A different kind of sad.
"I'm sorry, my little ponies. I was merely jesting."
Twilight poked Pinkie and together they looked at Miss Luna with a happier face. "We forgive you, Miss Luna. It was kind of funny."
Pinkie nodded with a big smile. "It was pretty funny."
"Ah, thank you."
"Do yous wanna be the hedras?"
"Gladly!"
The laughter of two fillies and one mare echoed through the kindergarten for the rest of the day.
