Spike felt like he was under the gun as he had gotten dressed in an outfit that Rarity had put together for him and he was sitting and Twilight was standing there with her arms crossed.

“Sooo… let me get this straight, you go use the wishing services you heard offhand and use it to turn into a hunky stallion to seduce Rarity?” Twilight asked.

“Yes....” Spike said.

“Spike, what were you thinking? What did he take from you?” Twilight asked.

“What do you mean? He said not to worry about the price,” Spike said.

“This guy is a swindler, he’s granting wishes and stealing things that the person values,” Twilight said.

“What?” Spike said.

“He robbed the Apple Family blind and stole Pinkie’s ability to laugh,” Twilight said.

“That sounds a little farfetch'd, how do you steal laughter?” Spike asked.

“How do you turn a dragon into a pony?” Twilight countered.

“...Point taken, but still, he was really nice, and Rarity and you are still here so maybe I got lucky,” Spike said.

“I don’t know what he took but I’m sure it was something you like,” Twilight said.

“Well unless I’m missing some comics from my bedroom I don’t see what,” Spike said.

“Look here!” Granny said marching up to Spike “That ‘really nice’ rat stole mah families stock an unless we get it back, ah won’t rest,” Granny said.

“Fine fine, I guess me and Rarity can help,” Spike said as he got up and Rarity walked into the room with them.

“Darling don’t be so hard on him, he and I have forged an impeccable bond that I wish to pursue, besides, I am sure he won’t be too hard to find,” Rarity said.

“Ok, we need to gather the others, find Discord and get moving,” Twilight said.

“I’ll get Rainbow!” Pinkie said.

“And we’ll get Fluttershy,” Rarity said.

“Ok, meet over by the castle, asap,” Twilight said and they took their leave.

Spike and Rarity hurried over to Fluttershy’s and ran into a deer hopping about in the front yard.

“Have you seen Fluttershy?” Spike asked.

The deer nodded and pointed at the cottage before waving its forelegs, warning them of the danger before hopping away.

They shrugged and headed to the door and knocked on it.

When the door opened Fluttershy came out in a familiar beige skirt and female tux.

“Yes Rarity?... Oh,” Fluttershy looked at Spike and immediately leaned on the door “And who are you handsome?” Fluttershy asked.

“Fluttershy?” Rarity said taken aback.

“One Spike, two happily in a relationship,” Spike said.

“Aw… well if it doesn’t work out, I can-” Fluttershy flirted before Rarity got in front of her.

“Fluttershy, one I do not appreciate your flirting with my stallion, two, what happened to you? Three nice outfit by the way, and four, we need you to come with us,” Rarity said.

“One, I was being polite, two, I got a confidence boost, three, thanks and four, for what?” Fluttershy answered her responses in order.

“A mad pony is going around granting wishes and taking things, we need to find him,” Rarity said.

“...You mean Mr Djinn?...Sure, I’ll come and find out what is going on… say have either of you seen Angel, he’s vanished,” Fluttershy asked as she followed them.

“No,” They both said.

“Odd…” Fluttershy said.

Pinkie used a jetpack she got from somewhere and flew up to Rainbow’s and saw the athletic pony in Wonderbolt attire.

“Hey Dashie! Why are you in Wonderbolt attire,” Pinkie said.

“Huh?!” RD yelped “Uh… no reason…” Rainbow said suspiciously.

“Rainbow…” Pinkie said finding her sus.

“....Ooooh ok! Fine, I made a wish before he left to become a Wonderbolt Captain and I recently canned Lightning Dust for cheating…. There…” Rainbow said.

“Whaaaa?” Pinkie exclaimed.

“I know… I must seem like a hypocrite, but I got so curious! How was I supposed to know Tank was going to vanish, I needed to take some time off to look for him,” Rainbow said.

“No time Dashie! Castle meeting, now!” Pinkie then took off and Rainbow shrugged before flying after her.

When they got to the castle they entered and saw the others had already gathered.

Twilight’s eyes widened upon seeing Rainbow.

“Rainbow…” Twilight hoped it wasn’t so but Rainbow looked ashamed.

“Sorry Twi… I’m awesome but not made of steel…” Rainbow said sheepishly.

“...Alllright, so anyways, is everypony here?” Twilight asked, everypony including Granny Smith and Spike nodded.

“So… we have a wish-granting stallion sowing chaos and for once he isn’t Discord,” Twilight said.

“How do we know?” Granny asked.

“I’d recognize Discord's magical signature, it’s not him, and yet, oddly similar,” Twilight said.

“And he’s the reason our precious things have vanished?” Spike asked.

“Yes, I’m sorry to say Spike, but I looked around and I think I know what he took,” Twilight said.

“What?” Spike asked.

“Peewee,” Twilight responded.

“Oh…no…” Spike said looking upset hearing that.

“And I assume just like the Apple Family stock other things have vanished too,” Twilight said.

“W-we have no proof he took them,” Fluttershy said.

“Ah have some, he told me himself,” AJ said.

“An he threatened to turn me back into a mare at the edge of her life if we tried to take it back,” Granny added.

“Even if it reverses the wishes, we have to stop him,” That drew unsure looks among the group.

“Girls… I really don’t want to lose this…” Fluttershy said.

“Twi… can’t there be another way?” Spike asked.

“Ah can’t let him re-age Granny Smith,” AJ said.

“I understand you all don’t want to lose this, but we can’t let him get away with-” Suddenly they heard a door open and they turned to see Discord entering through the wall and closing the new door.

“Hello…” Discord said looking upset.

“Discord?” Fluttershy walked up to him and he looked at her, sensing magic on her.

“I see you’ve made use of his services too, how unfortunate,” Discord said.

“Why? I am so much more confident now!” Fluttershy said.

“Indeed,” Discord said before he approached the others and sighed.

“Discord? Why does it sound like you know what’s going on?” Twilight asked.

“And where have you been?” Rainbow asked.

“I know what’s going on because I know him, and I couldn’t come to Ponyville until he left,” Discord said.

“What?” Everyone asked.

“Allow me to explain,” Discord said “I was away for awhile and when I came to visit after paying Sunbutt a visit I crashed into a barrier and found an anti-Chaos barrier he must have put up, I did a bit of digging around and found his work, and right then and there, I found out who was behind it all,” Discord said sitting down.

“Well? Don’t keep us in suspense,” Applejack said.

“His real name is Calligornianadjinn, as you can imagine he shortened it to Djinn, he’s the Spirit of Bartering,” Discord said.

“There’s more spirits than you?” Twilight said.

“Indeed… I’ll tell you something I’ve told nopony else, in the multiverse consisting of other universes like this one, there are countless beings of abstract personifications as you all know, I am the Spirit of Chaos, and Djinn, is the Spirit of Bartering, and while I’ve chosen to settle in this realm, he bounces around every now and then to different dimensions,” Discord said.

“So… he’s an immortal spirit of abstract thought, like you?” Twilight asked.

“Yes, and where I’ve learned to play nice with you harmony goers, he’s only out for his gain, he takes on the form of a being from that realm and he goes around granting their hearts desires under certain conditions, and during the transaction he takes something of equal value to the person, and when he’s granted a thousand wishes, he leaves for another realm, and never returns,” Discord said.

“No… and the stuff he steals?” Spike asked, worried about Peewee.

“Takes it with him, no way to follow him too, in the end you might as well move on,” Discord said.

“We cannot just do nothing!” Applejack said.

“We can and should, you all aren’t ready to face somepony like him,” Discord said.

“Why do ya say that? You scared of him?” Granny asked.

“Yes,” Discord said and everypony gasped.

“Why?” Twilight asked.

“Because he’s as powerful as I am, not to mention I cannot go near him or interfere with his business or I will face erasure, it’s spirit law,” Discord said.

“Spirit law?” Twilight asked.

“We spirits cannot interact, influence, or intervene with eachother, or the almighty Spirit of Light will erase us… don’t ask who he is, that’s a whole different story,” Discord said.

“Oook, then how can we stop him?” Twilight said.

“If you're really so persistent, the only way I can think of is tricking him, he cannot deny granting wishes or take more than what is asked for, he also can take away but he’d have to give up what he took,” Discord said.

“Well, let’s get moving then,” Twilight said.

“Wait, you're really going to confront him?” Discord asked.

“Yes, because we’re not going to let him leave with his loot, we’ll get those refunds,” Rainbow said.

“Girls…” Fluttershy looked unsure.

“Your all certain?” Discord asked teleporting in front of them.

“Yes,” They said.

“Then the most I can do is send you to where he is, the rest is on you,” Discord said.

“Ok,” Twilight said and Discord created a portal and gestured for them to go through.

“Thank you,” Twilight said as they all went in.

“Good luck,” Discord said closing the portal before walking away, he paused and looked in the direction where he sent them and wondered what he should do.

They arrived in Horseshoe Falls and were surprised to see that this place was as out of sorts as Ponyville.

The waterfalls were pouring cherry soda, the clouds were raining chocolate and there was a pony with a horde of chickens following her.

“This isn’t like the last time I was here,” Applejack said.

“Let’s get lookin', we gotta find that Djinn thing before he causes any more problems,” Granny said and the group nodded and they ran ahead.

“Rares…” Spike asked.

“Yes?” Rarity asked.

“Is… it possible we can still have something if I turn back?” Spike asked.

“Of course dear, It will take some time until you are old enough, but I am willing to accept you as a dragon,” Rarity said.

“Thank you,” Spike said happily.

As the group rounded a corner they saw a line of ponies rounding a corner.

Twilight ran up to a stallion in the back.

“Sir! We’re looking for a stallion who grants wishes,” Twilight said.

“Yeah, I don’t know who he is, but this is the line to meet with him,” The stallion said.

“We gotta stop him,” Twilight said running ahead but the stallion shouted after her.

“Hey! Wait in line!” He said and the other ponies clamored too but they ignored them.

Upon arriving at the front of the line they saw a mare skipping out of the tent with a comically large ring.

“Hey!” A burly stallion got in their way and they paused.

“Official princess business,” Twilight said.

“Well wait your turn, I got a wish to make too,” The stallion said.

“You wait!” Fluttershy got in front of them and stared at the stallion with her confidence-enhanced stare.

“F-fine… but make it quick,” He stepped out of the way and they entered despite the protests of the wish-hungry ponies.

“NEXT!” Djinn called before he saw the group enter “Oh great… you guys again, one at a time please,” Djinn said.

“Djinn! It’s over!” Twilight said.

“Give back our apples!” Granny shouted.

“Sheesh, never knew somepony could be so irate over fruit,” Djinn chuckled.

“You scammed us, I want Peewee back!” Spike demanded.

“You're complaining over a fancy chicken in comparison to the beautiful mare you wanted?” Djinn said.

“Djinn! Take this seriously, you’ve robbed the good ponies of Equestria,” Twilight said.

“Nono, I bartered with them, I give I take, it’s who I am, not my fault they couldn’t read the sign outside,” Djinn pointed to a sign saying ‘Wishes with a price’

“You little-” Granny closed in and punched him in the face before anypony could stop her.

And her fist glanced off his face without even hurting him.

“Huh?” Granny said.

“Back off before I make you a crone again,” Djinn threatened.

“Look, we just want what you took back,” Twilight said.

“Not how it works, to give I have to get, and right now, what I’d like, is for you guys to ‘get’ lost!” Djinn said standing up.

“We know what you are, The Spirit of Bartering, and we can’t let this thievery go unpunished,” Twilight said.

“Again, not thievery, bartering..” He emphasized.

“Call it whatever you want it’s still stealing,” Twilight said.

“Well if you all want a refund I can give that, but I gotta take my gifts back then,” Djinn said.

“NO!” Fluttershy and Spike and AJ said before they could stop themselves.

“Guys!” Twilight said.

“I’m... sorry Twilight, but we need to find another way, I can’t… I tried but I can’t lose this!” Fluttershy said getting in front of Twilight.

“I don’t want to miss out on being able to bear children with Rarity,” Spike said crying and Rarity looked touched.

“If Granny goes back to how she was she’ll die!” AJ said.

“B-but guys,” Twilight said.

“Looks like your friends have decided for you, now skedaddle, I only have one more wish to grant before I can leave,” Djinn said.

“One?” Twilight said.

“Yeah, who wants to be the last?” Djinn asked.

“Nopony until you give back what you’ve taken!” Rainbow said.

“Easy there Wonderbolt Captain, or I’ll have you busted down to janitor in a heartbeat,” Djinn chuckled and Rainbow looked hesitant.

“Stop intimidating my friends!” Twilight said.

“Face it Twilight, they love what they have now, sure it came at a small price, but you’ll be smashing their dreams if you force me to refund them,” Djinn said before leaning in “That’s not something a friend would do, is it?” Djinn said mockingly.

“At least give me my laugh back!” Pinkie pleaded.

“Even at the cost of your kazoo?” Djinn asked.

“Yes,” Pinkie said.

“Okay then,” Djinn then pulled out his crystal ball and Pinkie put her hand on it and it glowed, her kazoo vanished and she felt the tightness in her throat alleviate.

“Somepony say something funny,” Pinkie demanded.

“Um… Flapjacks?” AJ tried.

‘Hahaha! I love that word… Hey! I laughed!” Pinkie said happily.

“Hallelujah to you, so unless any of you want to make a wish, beat it,” Djinn demanded.

“Not until-” Suddenly Djinn slammed his hand down on the table startling them.

“I can so easily rob you all blind of my gifts, so leave now or else,” Djinn said sounding angry.

“NO! I-” Suddenly Fluttershy grabbed Twilight and pulled her away.

“Fluttershy?!” Twilight cried.

“I’m sorry Twilight, but without confidence, I can’t be happy in the end!” Fluttershy cried with tears in her eyes.

“Spike!” Twilight called to her brother to help her but he just remained looking at the ground.

“AJ?” Twilight turned and saw AJ turning to leave as well.

“I’m sorry, ah can’t lose Granny,” AJ said.

“No…” Twilight said sorrowfully.

“Have a good day you all,” Djinn said before calling for the next customer… and then Twilight managed to break free of Fluttershy and she stood straight before firing a blast at Djinn hitting him and sending him flying into the side of his tent.

“Twilight!?” They all cried.

“Don’t worry, I just stunned him, now we can get Celestia here and-” Suddenly magic shot up in the air and he manifested out of the tent as a giant blue humanoid with dark blue eyes, the ponies in line ran away in fear.

“Whoa…” Rainbow said looking at him.

“Heh, you shouldn’t have done that…” Djinn said with a chuckle.

“So… that’s your true form?” Twilight asked nervously.

“Yeah, I figured it freaks ponies out so I decided on an equally handsome pony form, guess I gotta finish my work here in another town after I am done with you all,” Djinn said before he slammed a hand at Twilight.

“Run!” Twilight said taking to the air and she avoided being crushed.

The others ran around his footsteps as he walked after Twilight swatting at her.

“Stop! You’ll hurt somepony!” Twilight cried.

“Like you're one to talk!” Djinn said, throwing a punch and Twilight swooped under it.

"I was only trying to- OOOF!" Twilight grunted as he managed to glance her with another blow.

“C’mon Granny!” AJ said and Granny nodded and ran alongside AJ they double-bucked him in the back of his foot.

“Whoa!” Djinn said as his foot was kicked out from beneath him, he stumbled back and Rainbow circled above and she dashed to his head and gave him a buck in the face making him fall down.

Before anypony could think of restraining him he managed to get to his feet again and he charged a beam in his mouth before firing it at Rainbow Dash.

“WHOA!” Rainbow dodged around the blast and took cover.

“Rarity get to cover!” Spike said.

‘No, we face this together!” Rarity said and they both fired magic blasts at Djinn who tanked them and he swung his foot kicking a cart at them.

“Aaah!” Rarity cried and Spike tackled her out of the way and they narrowly avoided being crushed.

“Pests, the lot of you,” Djinn said before Pinkie who was on a rooftop fired herself out of her party cannon and crashed against his face made him stumble a little.

“Grrah!” Djinn reached up and grabbed her before throwing her at the ground, hard, Twilight managed to catch her and avoid a beam that threatened to vaporize her.

“Your messing with my business, GET LOST!” Djinn said swatting at them.

Fluttershy flew up to his face and gave him the stare.

“Huh?” Djinn said looking at this.

“Stop this! We can still work something-” Fluttershy tried but he just started laughing.

“Isn’t that adorable, this is how it’s done,” He then stared right back at her and fired a beam from his eyes and Fluttershy had to dodge.

“WHOOAA”! Fluttershy cried as she hit a wall and fell to the ground.

“Enough of this!” Djinn suddenly drew a spell circle in the air and he clapped his hands.

“What’s he doing?!” Rainbow asked.

“I don’t know!” Twilight said.

Her answer came in the form of a magical explosion that sent her and everyone flying.

“AAAHH!” Everyone yelled as he blew up the area.

As they all lay there groaning in pain the giant shrunk to their height and walked up to them.

“Has it sunk in yet? You can’t win, so it seems I will have to grant some more wishes as the previous wishes become null if the subject expires because of me, ah well, it’s just a few more,” Djinn shrugged before raising his hand and creating a giant sphere of magic.

“No!” Twilight groaned getting to her hooves and trying to block him from attacking her friends.

“What’s that going to do?” Djinn asked mockingly.

“I won’t let you hurt anypony else,” Twilight said.

“Hmm… don’t care, die,” Djinn said getting ready to cast his magic sphere… before another magic sphere blasted his away into the sky where it detonated harmlessly.

“Hmm?” Djinn asked before seeing Discord land in front of his friends.

“Spirit of Chaos?... What the heck do you think you're doing?” Djinn asked.

“Protecting my friends,” Discord looked back at Fluttershy and his face softened before he looked at Djinn.

“You… do get I’m a spirit too, and the consequences?” Djinn said.

“I do…” Discord said.

“You old softie… this is why I don’t form connections,” Djinn sighed before approaching.

“What will it take for you to get out of my way?” Djinn said.

“You leaving, and giving back what you took,” Discord said.

“Man, the Equestrians really did a number on your ruthlessness, one of the reasons I want to book it from this place, you on the other hand will be transported to the spirit of light in approximately one minute if you don’t leave now,” Djinn said.

“Then let’s make this quick, let’s barter,” Discord said approaching him.

“Oooh, this’ll be good,” Djinn said summoning his crystal ball, but Discord slapped it out of his hand.

“No using the fake magic prop, use your actual powers,” Discord said.

“Oh come on it’s fun,” Djinn said but Discord didn’t budge.

“Now,” Discord said.

“Fine, what do you want?” Djinn asked.

“Read my mind,” Discord said.

“And in exchange?” Djinn said.

“Read it again,” Discord said.

Djinn's eyes widened “Your kidding… you wouldn’t” Djinn said honestly surprised.

“Do it,” Discord said.

“...Fine, I suppose this is a fair transaction, consider this barter, completed,” They shook hands and it was completed and a flash of light occurred before Djinn turned to the others and waved “Well, that’s one thousand, see ya never losers,” Djinn said with a laugh before turning to Discord “And see you never as well,” Djinn said before he disappeared in a flash of light.

“Discord?” Twilight asked getting up and seeing Discord turn to her.

“Well, problem solved… goodbye now,” Discord said before he vanished in a puff of smoke.

“DISCORD!” Fluttershy cried.

Discord was floating in a void and he looked up to see The Spirit of Light staring down at him as a giant ball of light.

“Discord… it seems you never learn…” The Spirit of Light said.

“I would do it again if it meant saving her,” Discord said staring at the being that could end him in the blink of an eye cooly.

“Even risking erasure for breaking the rules of the universe?” The Spirit of Light asked.

“Always, I’m the chaotic one remember?” Discord said.

“And… that is where I feel conflicted in this choice,” The Light said.

“Conflicted?” Discord said.

“The reason I never allow Abstract Spirits to meet is that it could cause calamity if they were to influence eachother or heaven forbid, team up, and cause the balance to go out of order, but you, you did it for the greater good, a negative abstract doing great things, that is where the confliction is, do I reward or punish this behavior?” The Spirit of Light said.

“I dunno,” Discord said.

“That is so like you,” The Light chuckled “I suppose all things considered that part of that universe would fall into chaos without the effects of your wish, but that is your calling, to contradict in the end, and so I withhold my judgment,” The Light said.

“You do?... Doooesss that mean I can come home?” Discord said.

“So long as you continue to keep the balance in your own way, or we may have to talk again,” The Light said.

“I’m glad, what about Djinn?” Discord asked.

“I may have a talk with him on dimension-hopping so much, this is his fifth encounter with another spirit, I fear he’s becoming a troublemaker, perhaps he needs to be stripped of his power for a while,” The Light said before turning its attention to Discord.

“You may leave, but stay away from other spirits next time,” The Light said.

“Ok,” Discord bowed before a flash overtook him and he was gone.

two years later

Twilight ran through Ponyville at a brisk pace, she had to be there.

“I hope I’m not too late,” Twilight said as she ran past several ponies and she made it to the hospital, upon entering she found a nurse.

“Nurse! I’m looking for Rarity’s room!” Twilight said urgently.

“Right this way princess,” The nursepony said leading her to the place.

As they arrived Twilight saw a room and calming herself she entered.

And saw the others surrounding Rarity on a bed, getting closer she saw Rarity cradling a foal.

“Aww, filly or colt?” Twilight asked.

“Colt,” Spike said and Twilight spun to see him there.

“Oh Spike I’m so happy for you,” Twilight hugged the stallion.

“I must say the procedure was pretty stressful, Gold Rush here nearly had to wait in the next hallway just so he wouldn’t have to listen to the screams,” Fluttershy said with a chuckle.

“Shy…” Gold Rush said embarrassedly.

“Glad I could get time off the Wonderbolts to come here,” Rainbow said petting the cheek of the tiny purple and darker purple foal and he tried to grab her finger.

“Ah hope ah’m not too late,” Granny Smith said as she walked in carrying two big presents all by herself.

“Got here just in time Granny Smith,” AJ said.

“Ah’ve said it once and Ah’ll say it a dozen more times, it’s great to be young again,” Granny laughed.

“Ah know,” AJ said knowing she was still in that ‘basking in her youth’ stage.

“Oh thank you all for coming here, after me and Spike got married a few months ago we’ve been waiting for our own little treasure,” Rarity said cooing to her and Spikes baby.

“And it’s thanks to Discord that this happened,” Pinkie said turning to Discord who appeared out of nowhere and he seemed pleased.

“Well I can safely say this will be a change in our day to day life,” Discord said.

“Perhaps, but I will be more than ready to handle it, isn’t that right Goldie?” Fluttershy said hugging his arm.

“We’d be happy to babysit occasionally,” Gold said.

“For free?” Discord asked.

“You wish!” Fluttershy giggled.

A month later

Twilight walked home with Spike at her side, she saw Filthy Rich and his giant Piggy Bank following him.

She saw Cheerilee giving flying lessons to some pegasus foals.

And Carrot Top actually replenished her carrot stock for the tenth time with her bottomless bag of carrots as she just ran out.

“Can you still believe Discord risked his existence for us to wish that Djinn would return everything he took without undoing the wishes?” Spike said nuzzling Peewee on his shoulder, he’d grown into a true phoenix this past year.

“Yeah, he’s proven he’s changed, I am personally just glad he got let off so easy,” Twilight said as they entered the castle and Twilight turned to Spike.

“Spike? Can you take a letter please?” Twilight asked.

“On it,” Spike said picking up the paper and quill.

“Dear Celestia.

Sometimes we may wish for a better life, but in the end, we’ve got to work for it, don’t let that scare you, if anything, it feels more rewarding in the end, and you can have what you wish, if you just try hard enough,” Twilight said.

“Love Twilight…” Spike said before handing it to her and she teleported it, their new system now that he was a stallion.

“You know, Djinn was a jerk but he really helped Everpony out in the end,” Twilight said.

“The irony,” Spike said.

“I just hope Discord gets let off the hook by Djinn soon,” Twilight said.

“I wonder how he’s doing right now?” Spike wondered

Discord arrived in a dimension with bipedal simians, disguised as one of them and he walked into a shop titled ‘Wishes with a Price’

“I’m here…” Discord sighed.

“Ooh goodie, the crystal balls are over there, and be careful I spilled coffee on them yesterday,” Djinn said from the far side of the store, so they weren’t too close to break the rules again.

“Just three more weeks of this and I am done,” Discord grumbled getting a rag and wiping them down.

“I’m sure he’s alright, now why don’t you head back to your wife and son, I’m sure they miss you,” Twilight said.

“Sure thing,” Spike said taking his leave as Twilight sat with a book.

“Shame I didn’t get a wish, I would have wished for the rarest tome in the world or something, eh I guess next time,” Twilight said, reclining to enjoy her current book, before hearing Pinkie coming in.

“Twiiiilight!” Pinkie called.

“Or maybe I’d wish to have peace and quiet once and awhile…” Twilight sighed.
