It had been impossible to get a job since abandoning the Enclave Remnants; nopony wanted to hire those who were nearly responsible for destroying the surface. If it wasn't for my sister managing to worm her way into a band we would both be out on the streets of Brayington, with neither food or shelter to call our own. It didn't stop me from wishing I had the ability to do more, both as a pony and as her older sister.

Then, I met that batpony.

He really only needed to slide his card across the table and say he was offering me a job. This wasn't some one-time mercenary work, it was a career. It would allow me to be a part in keeping this new, more stable surface from falling back into the anarchistic Tartarus that it once was. All I needed to do was shake his hoof and buy a suit.

It was an offer that seemed too good to be true, and one I'd be an idiot to refuse.
