Anakin's Aloneness

"Where is my mother," asked the young Anakin. "Are you going to buy her, too?"

"No," said Watto. "I ran out of funds buying you. So, you better be worth it!"

These words would signify the beginning of the young son of the force being owned by Watto and also being alone. The impacts of loneliness are seen time and time again in heroes. For one boy, the trauma of seeing his mother lost inside a giant robot and the abandonment of his father taught him to fear, to hide, and to be non-victorious. For another, his abandonment by his relatives in a small, confined space taught him to not be his very best, to rely on others for things he could have learned to do, and to underachieve. However, this aloneness is not to damage the heart and soul of young Anakin Skywalker. It will be for his strengthening.

Anakin, like any effectively orphaned young boy, now possessed a great desire to have someone with whom he could share love. Unlike every other lonely boy, there dwelt within him something wondrous: the light of creation, in great quantity. Some would call this magic. Some would call this the Force. Still others would call this a way of escape, so that he could escape his dark destiny.

In any case, his cry for love did not go unheard. Far, far away, another lonely and incredibly powerful being heard his pleas, and these would not remain. One night, he cried out in his sleep as he had for so many nights, and he was answered.

"Is anyone there? Can anyone hear me? Please answer!"

"I am here," came a voice, echoing in the darkness. A shining light erupted, and he could see her, emanating it, the most beautiful being he'd ever seen. "Did you call for someone, young one?"

"You're not an angel, are you?" Anakin asked.

She certainly looked like an angel. Her multicolored hair that moved as if in a wind, the whiteness of her body, and the wings that stretched from her side all lent to a great sense of majesty. The boy got on his knees as he hesitantly smiled at her. Celestia bent her head to nuzzle the boy.

"No, little one, I am an Alicorn pony. My name is Princess Celestia, and I am here because I heard you. May I ask your name?"

"A real princess, wow!" said the boy. "I'm Anakin. I'm a," he paused. "A person."

And thus was the world forever changed for one little boy. Because of this, the galaxy would know peace.
