Spike's New Adventure
Recruiting Daring Do
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter Rainbow Dash returns from her home with a saddlebag packed for the journey to visit A.K. Yearling's new home, aka Daring Do, she sees her friends packed, including Pinkie Pie riding her party cannon next to Star Swirl the Bearded, with the expectation of arranging a meeting with Ahuizotl about a partnership to oppose the Peacekeeper before he settles and becomes the new God of Equus. Star Swirl hopes that Daring Do doesn't provoke the creator of the talisman, a Demon of Disharmony, Ahuizotl, over an artifact she might have stolen from him; according to the novel series, she and several other characters detailed from the books have procured many relics and treasures from sacred temples, ruins, and castles, foiling Ahuizotl's priorities every time, which she and the others may not know Ahuizotl's true intent.
Rainbow gives Star Swirl the Bearded the map to navigate everyone to Daring Do's new home or temporary hideout; his eyes are focused on the circle drawn on the map, revealing the location of an old mansion several meters away from the disintegrated Temple of Tehuti and Forest of Leota. Since there is a railway system to the town of Caracrows, Star Swirl advises everyone to purchase their ticket there rather than walk and waste time due to the unknown schemes of the Peacekeeper in motion.
Twilight remains silent during the trip to Caracrows after hearing Star Swirl's rant replaying in her mind about the severity of the situation, the Valkyrie Sister of Harmony's involvement, and their existence when Star Swirl confirmed it twice. Rainbow Dash couldn't contain her excitement of visiting Daring Do and going on another adventure with her hero; however, the idea of partnering with Ahuizotl to save all life from an apocalypse is wholesome but terrifying, with probable cause of getting rejected or attacked by the menacing creature. Rarity minds her business on the train while Pinkie and Applejack attempt to comfort Twilight about Star Swirl's statement; however, Twilight remains quiet. Star Swirl is reading the latest Daring Do novel to understand her current predicament, hoping to use the newest relic she looted from the Demon of Disharmony, which doesn't have much detail about the potency and usage other than the description of its appearance; it's a clock hand on an eye, representing time.
The train ride from Ponyville to Caracrows took three hours, which allowed Star Swirl to calm himself and rethink his expressions toward Twilight, causing him to regrettably sigh when he should have had more patience with the young Princess of Friendship and her beliefs about the Valkyrie Sisters of Harmony.
"I should have explained further about the Valkyrie Sisters of Harmony than belittle Twilight of her ignorance about their existence when we should work together on stopping the foe before he becomes too overpowering for us to handle." Star Swirl thought to himself; he was sitting across from Twilight's booth in the middle of the third-car train during the ride.
When everypony departed from the train, Star Swirl apologized for his rant and explained how he should have been more patient with Twilight due to the severity of life and death hindering in their hooves. After Twilight accepts the apology, they continue onward to the old mansion. At the same time, Rainbow Dash's excitement overwhelms her stability, causing her to soar ahead of her friends to Daring Do's hideout, miles from the submerged Temple of Tehuti.
Star Swirl groans bitterly at Rainbow's foolish decision to allow her excitement to control her emotions and soar ahead when he has her map detailing Daring Do's hideout. Twilight provides a simple solution after knowing Rainbow's antics with Daring Do and anything relating to the subject for many years; she advises everyone to huddle together to teleport them and herself to Rainbow's position, which should be by the old mansion.
Rainbow Dash is excited to see a makeshift bonfire by the left side of the mansion with a hole in the wall serving as an entrance to the basement; she hears a poof behind her and notices Star Swirl's glare for being careless during a crisis. Rainbow nervously chuckles and hovers aside, allowing Star Swirl to enter Daring Do's temporary base of operations.
"Rainbow?" Daring Do returns to the old mansion while wearing the relic like a necklace, which catches Star Swirl's attention and causes his jaw to drop in horror, not in awe or bewilderment. "I thought I told you not to bring your friends here," Daring Do is upset until she sees Star Swirl the Bearded for the first time; it's new to her seeing an old fossil living in Equestria after reading some tales about the disappearance of the Pillars.
Star Swirl analyzes the relic, the clock hands representing the hour, minute, and second on an eye-shaped medallion, and knows what the relic Daring Do has procured. "Where did you find the Time Gem Amulet?"
Daring Do double blinks in amazement after hearing Star Swirl guessing accurately the relic's name she took from Ahuizotl days ago by the Temple of Perpetuity; she wonders why Star Swirl would be here of all places, especially with Rainbow Dash. She recognizes Rainbow's friends and believes something else is amiss regarding the amulet's involvement.
"Tell him, Daring Do, of all the times you foiled Ahuizotl and your recent victory over the time medallion you took from him!" Rainbow wants to hear Daring Do's narration leading to today's meetup; she wishes she had popcorn to enjoy the splendor when Pinkie Pie offers her a bucket to listen to Daring Do's tale.
"Well, Star Swirl, I obtained the Time Gem Amulet from Ahuizotl to prevent him from freezing time to undo any damages or capture me, and I can't allow Ahuizotl's tyranny to bring doom and destruction over any of the temples to utilize ultimate power to overthrow us! I secured the relic when I ventured to the Temple of Perpetuity and read the hieroglyphics about the usage of the Time Gem Amulet; freezing time for three minutes may seem like nothing, but knowing how to utilize time wisely would be the difference-maker regarding combat, stealth, or infiltrations."
"Three minutes of doing whatever you want, and when being a tyrant, you could obliterate anyone before they stand a chance to oppose or repel any attack to save yourself or others during the heat of battle. That sounds terrifying under the clutches of evil!" Rainbow exclaims and imagines Ahuizotl using the charm to dispose of Daring Do, terminating her novel series forever, and exacting vengeance on her and her friends for interfering during the ring ceremony to unleash eight hundred years of unrelenting sweltering heat to the Temple of Tehuti.
"Super-duper scary!" Pinkie Pie shares the dreadful feeling of Ahuizotl, or some other creature demented enough to create havoc and dominate the wills of everyone.
"And just what we need!" Applejack imagines using the relic to prevent the Peacekeeper from issuing any commands or declaring war on Equestria and Beyond.
Rarity becomes astounded by the beauty of the amulet as it reminded her of gemstones when they sparkle on any reflective surface.
Twilight smiles at the idea of freezing time. "That's good!" She's elated to have a powerful relic to oppose the Peacekeeper and thwart his plans before he steps foot in Equestria; she'll use the Time Gem Amulet, then have her friends use the Elements of Harmony repeatedly to subdue the Peacekeeper or weaken him and his army.
Rainbow knows what Twilight was thinking after connecting the pieces to utilize against the Peacekeeper and hoping she and they don't team with Ahuizotl. "We can use -" Rainbow gets interrupted by Star Swirl's impending speech.
"Don't even try to elude our quest, girls," Star Swirl approaches Daring Do and holds the amulet in his left hoof, sensing the potency of the relic's time-freezing capabilities. "Daring Do, we need Ahuizotl; do you know where he is?"
"He should be at the remnants of Temple Tehuti. I noticed him praying in solitude with blue flames encircling him," Daring Do responds, then asks - "Why do you need Ahuizotl, and why is every pony else here? What is going on?" Curiosity got the better of Daring Do after Star Swirl mentioned his name, and judging from his tone, Star Swirl was solemn on the matter.
"Daring Do, as adventurous and awesome as you, have you heard anything about the Peacekeeper or the Legacy of the Peacekeeper?" Rainbow asks her idol before Star Swirl and Twilight would have questioned her.
"That hunk of junk wouldn't bulge at the supposed birthplace of inspiration -" Daring Do does the quotation mark with her two front hooves by mentioning the birthplace of inspiration. "I believe the supposed weapon is a scam to allure tourists or anyone dumb enough to become a victim of the demented dentist. The Storm Nation knows how to draw income for many years, claiming that creatures with wings, depicted as angels or valkyries, came with two goddesses to forge the world we live in now, which is folklore, for there is no evidence of their existence, just tales of how they live, why we're here, and how fallen the world became and is, which I find it laughable," Daring Do is a nonbeliever about the importance of the Valkyrie Sisters of Harmony, goddess Gaia and Eurynome.
Star Swirl calms himself before the rage takes over; he takes a deep breath before speaking. "Did you know that Ahuizotl is a Demon of Disharmony?"
"A what?" Daring Do is confused about Ahuizotl's acclaimed title of being a Demon of Disharmony, which she has heard from some tales depicting different demons that existed before some supposed grand war that killed life before the rebirth.
"Ahuizotl is a Demon of Disharmony, the creator of the talisman, artifacts, relics, and charms. The amulet that you plundered from Ahuizotl belonged to him, and he would know how to operate the Time Gem Amulet to the fullest, unlike any of us; perhaps he knows how to extend the limiter with other rituals, incantations, and sacrifices. You have something he requires, and now, we have something to offer for our truce to defeat the Peacekeeper."
"The Peacekeeper is not -" Daring Do watches Star Swirl's facial expression go from calm to rigorous; magic auro engulfs his body to demonstrate the realness of his statements and the situation Equestria and Beyond. She gulps and nervously sweats, knowing Star Swirl is somepony who never jokes or makes bluffs.
"I sensed the Legacy of the Peacekeeper's staff uplifted from the sacred gravel hours ago, meaning the new God in training is born and actively devising schemes to disrupt the peace Equestria and Beyond has, and if he succeeds, he may kill us without any reason or worse!" Star Swirl stomps his front left hoof onto the ground, causing smoke to erupt from the cracks of the dirt rising.
Daring Do, Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow, Pinkie, and Applejack flinch at the sudden magic power Star Swirl emits with one stomp onto the ground, making his statement bold and prominent.
"That is why we're here, Daring Do," Twilight sighed and had hoped the tensions wouldn't be of this magnitude when she and the others wanted a calmer debriefing about Ahiuzotl's whereabouts for the upcoming war that'll soon take effect. "We need the last remnant of the Demon of Disharmony to aid us during a war that'll hinder all life. Ahuizotl may have a relic that can compete with the Legacy of the Peacekeeper's staff. Will you help us?"
Daring Do takes a moment to stare at the group of ponies, then stares at the artifact she took from the Temple of Perpetuity while wondering what other artifacts and relics she took from Ahuizotl could or would help the cause to defeat the Peacekeeper. She takes a deep breath after making her decision. "Alright, I'll take you to Ahuizotl. The Temple of Tehuti is an hour's walk from here, so let's get going."
