The Way Of The Changeling
"Well, that couldn't have gone much worse." I muttered as I wiped myself off, I was somewhere in Everfree after being flung out of Canterlot. I felt a liquid run down my chin before getting hit by a wave of pain, I put a hoof to my head to steady the spinning world while I brought the other to my mouth to inspect the fluid, sticky and black, blood, I had broken a fang. "son of a bi--" I yelled before getting hit by another wave of pain. A few minutes later I had the pain under control and started walking, good thing I'm not a pony I thought, seeing as Manticores think we taste bad, dragons however eat us like candy. I walked for what felt like hours before I got to a tree, hut, house, thing. I transformed into a pony and walked up and knocked on the door I heard rustling then the door opened revealing a zebra,
"it seems a changeling is in my sight, in all its armored might." I stood there mouth agape,
"um, I'm sorry?"
"you are a changeling it is quite clear, for there is no cutie mark on your aged rear" I twisted to look at my flank and sure
enough it was bare
"damnit" I muttered under my breath
"I sense no mal-intent from thee, please enter into this tree" I dropped my disguise and followed the striped pony into the tree, hut, house, thing, and got comfortable.
I sat on the floor, as there was no furnishings
"pardon the lack of seating, I was not expecting this meeting" zebra shaman were a weird bunch they always talked in rhyme and had the weirdest ways of dealing with all sorts of ailments, but in a way ponies (those who know about us) find changeling ways weird. I don't see what wrong with molting a whole new shell when you get a crack, sure it'll heal but it will always be weak.
"umm, I didn't catch your name miss..."
"Zecora is my name, though I'm not one of much fame. What is your name, and do not try to play any games"
"shifter" I replied, I could have lied but she's way too good at this
"well shifter, you may be born a trickster, but I will not go light on those who fight" she said as she stared me down "what is your plans, after this failed shame?"
"my plans? Find a town so I can get food and love, and stay the hell away from the hive, I knew that queen was no damn good the day she got into power."
"Ponyville is up the path, but bear a disguise or face a wrath"
she had to be the smartest pony I knew at that point.
"well, good day Zecora, thank you for your aid, but I must be going" with that I got up and left, heading for Ponyville.
I donned a disguise this time remembering to put on a cutie mark, a cloud with a lightning bolt.
"symbolizing my talent for flight and my love for the sky" I rehearsed. I had used that mark many a time and it had a legitimate story
After a short while I came to the edge of the forest as a white Pegasus with a red mane, my 'old faithful' disguise. I walked to the center of town were I bumped into a pink pony who stared me down for a full minute shitshitshitshitshit I thought, but after a while she donned a smile and trotted away, without saying a word too damn close, now for some food I arrived at a small cafe before locating my bit pouch, FUN FACT: changelings can use there green slime stuff too make a pouch that morphs with them. 36 bits that should be enough for a sandwich. Contrary to popular belief changelings don't need love to survive, they need food, this is obvious because inside a changelings mouth you will find teeth, which we use TO EAT THINGS, our fangs are important too, because we are omnivorous, we eat whatever is there. We use love to fuel our magic, but ill delve into that later.
I sat down at a table and waited for the waiter.
"iz there something I can get for you?" the waiter asked, after he walked over
"sure, can I get a daisy sandwich?"
"iz ther anything else you wanted?"
"that'll be all, thank you." the waiter walked off to get my food while I sat and planned out my day, since I'm going to be staying in this town, ill need friends to keep up my disguise, a job to stay fed, and a place to sleep as I was thinking the waiter had dropped my food off at the table and went to serving ponies who had just walked in, one of which was strangely familiar.
I munched down my sandwich, paid my 4 bits and left to find a job. On my way to town hall I seen a flyer "town meeting at Sugarcube corner"
"well then, off I go" I stopped and realized "I have no idea were that is" I started looking around when I seen a sign that read 'Sugarcube corner —>'. I found my way to the gingerbread bakery but when I opened the door I found that all the lights were off 'hmm that's weird' I thought, but before I could turn around and leave, the lights came on and a bunch of ponies yelled "SURPRISE!!!"
