EPISODE NINETEEN

It was a lovely Saturday morning, and Starla was up and changing Twinkle’s diaper. Taking a moment to tickle her daughter’s little tummy.

Then she reached under the table for a clean diaper, only to find there were no spare packs in the niche below.

“I thought we just…” she stopped when she saw Shining Light next to her, holding up a fresh pack of diapers, and with an innocent look on his face that said he wanted to help too.

Starla smiled at her son, and she brought him forward and pecked him on the head.

Soon, Twinkle was all changed with her diaper and cooing happily.

“Aww, look at you.” Stala cooed, and she pecked her daughter sweetly on the cheek.

“I give her kiss too.” said Shining Lightning, and he leaned in a pecked his sister which made her reach up for him and giggle.

“Oh, you two…” sighed Starla.

Lightning came in and asked, “How’s everything here? We all changed?”

“Yes, and I helped.” said Shining.

“Aww, that’s a good boy.” his father said as he proudly stroked his son’s mane.

Just then, there was a knock at the house door downstairs. “Oh! That’ll be Swift Star delivering his report.”

He excused himself from his family and went downstairs. He answered the door and saluted to Swift. “Good morning, Lieutenant.”

Swift saluted back, “Good morning, sir.” and he handed him the file with his weekly report in it.

“Do you have a minute to come in?”

Swift shook his head, “I got a lot of preparing to do for tonight.”

“Oh, that’s right; your date with Blitzy.”

Swift nodded, “I’ve got it all laid out-- half-a-dozen, reservations at the New Ponyville Grand Restaurant, and followed by a romantic aerial carriage ride under the stars.”

Lightning blinked widely. “Wow! That’s a bit much for a first date.”

Swift didn’t mind at all. “I just want everything to be nice and perfect.” Then he headed off, dancing in the streets, he was too excited and happy to just walk.

Along the way, he stopped off at various locations…

-The Florists, to make sure that his order of roses was still on hold…

-The Restaurant to make sure the reservations were still confirmed…

-And the carriage rides, again, for a confirmation…

…To which all the managers would reply. “Yes! Now, stop asking!”

Ever since Blitzy agreed to go out, Swift had been driving himself crazy with the arrangements and obsessed with everything being perfect. He had checked for confirmation so many times that week, the managements were all growing irritable.

“Oh, no!” he cried upon realizing, “I have to check if my tuxedo is ready!” and he headed off for Carousel Boutique.

Rarity was watering the flowers in one of the window planters, when she could see Swift coming up the street, causing her to panic and retreat inside!

“Oh, no! Not again!” she groaned.

“Rarity?” Spike called “What’s the ma-aaaaaaa--!” was all he managed to get out as he wife grabbed him, holding him down below the window and whispering, “Shhhhh… Pretend we’re not here!”

Spike got the drift, especially when he could see in the full mirror across the room which showed Swift’s reflection. “How many times is he going to do this?”

“Shhh!” said Rarity, and there was a knock at the door.

The “Closed” sign was clearly on the door, but Swift knew this was a social call. “Hello?” he called. “Rarity? Spike? I’m just coming to check on my suit.”

Rarity and Spike laid low, not answering, and hoping he’d go away, but unfortunately for them, Twilight Sparkle Scales was walking along, unsupervised towards the door.

“Twilight!” Spike called softly. Rarity nervously chattered on her claws.

The moment Swift saw the little toddler through the window, he knew the parents had to be around.

The couple then faked it, and Rarity answered the door.

“Yes, Swift.” She said trying to sound professional.

Swift noted the long time she took to come to the door and grew suspicious, but he asked for his suit, “Will it be ready tonight?”

Trying to keep calm, Rarity called for Spike, “Darling, will you go and fetch his suit…” then she grumbled, “…Which I told him I had ready two days ago!”

“What’s that?”

“Oh, um… nothing… nothing at all. Do try and act civil with your superior officer!”

Now Swift was taken back a little, even Spike was as he showed up with Swift’s freshly tided suit.

“Um… thank you… General.” Swift said, and he left mumbling, “Some people are so hyper.” Then he felt, “Maybe I should check on those reservations again.”

Meanwhile, Flareous and Blizzord had summoned Smark and Keltar before them. Each of them bellowing the same demands as always.

“Get me a monster…”

“…and bring Starfleet fighters here so I may recruit them!”

“My patience is wearing thin!”

“UNDERSTAND?!!”

The two henchmen understood, and both were incredibly annoyed with their respective kings.

They both searched through the monster badge collections while grumbling insults.

“…Flimsy, Flaming Fool!” growled Keltar.

“That Crooked, Cold-Headed, Creep!” muttered Smark.

Suddenly, they each found a particular monster badge and thought, “Yeah, this will do perfectly.”

Keltar held up his badge snickering, “This monster will burn their brains out!”

Smark held up his own badge, “This creature will freeze them right on the spot. Then it’ll be easier to bring them all here.”

They quickly summoned one Flame-Guard and one Ice-Guard to wear the badge.

Each guard turned into a humanoid creature, with shoulder-pads, armor, and special powers of fire and ice-- one could shoot fireballs, and the other could unleashing special freezing winds that could cause someone to freeze on the spot where they stood.

Unfortunately, when the two forces headed through invisiports to United Equestria-- landing in the open countries where no one would see them-- neither Keltar nor Smark realized they were not alone…!

“Okay, get to work.” Keltar said to his monster.

“Go out there and get those ponies for me.” said Smark.

“Yes, sir.” the monsters complied.

The two monsters rushed out into the open at the same time, only to crash into each other by surprise.

“Hey!” cried Keltar.

“What’s going on?” wailed Smark.

The two monsters had collided into each other so hard, causing the monster badges to merge into one, thus fusing the two separate monsters into a bigger, stronger, and more fearsome beast!

This new creature had large horns on the side of his head, a two-toned face-- one side orange, the other icy blue. He had four arms, with sharp claws, spikes on his shoulder pads, strong armor, and a deep, growling voice.

“I am now, Freeze Burn.” he bellowed. “Cold as a blizzard, hot as volcano… I will seize everything in my sights!”

Keltar and Smark were astounded by this new creature, and rather than take notice of each other in the area, they merely brushed it off and decided to leave their new creature to its own devices.

Meanwhile, Lightning and Starla were taking Shining Light to the playground, and Twinkle was with them of course. Lightning had to leave almost immediately.

“You have fun, sport.” he said to his son, “Daddy has to go run an errand now, but I’ll be back soon. So, you listen to Mommy, okay?”

“Yes, Daddy.”

Lightning smiled and then pecked his daughter and his wife.

“Where are you going?” asked Starla.

“Swift’s. I went through his report, and there’s a page missing.”

Starla shook her head in dismay. “He’s really obsessed with this date.”

Lightning nodded, and he was off.

As Starla kept watch over her children, she noticed Pyron and Glaceia sitting on another park bench away from her own. They looked sad.

She got up and walked over with Twinkle in her arms.

“Hi there, folks.”

“Hello, Starla.” said Glaceia. She sounded down in the dumps.

“Forgive my prying but is everything alright?” asked Starla. Pyron answered, “I had wished to have a lovely romantical evening with Glaceia this evening, and yet no matter wherever we went it was no use-- every place was full, and reservation was impossible for tonight.”

Starla felt sorry for the couple, but then she told them, “You know, you don’t need to get all fancy to have a romantic evening.”

The couple was most intrigued, and she continued to explain.

“I enjoy a fancy time out, myself, once-in-while, but the most important thing of all is just being with each other and having a wonderful time.”

She recalled how when she and Lightning only just started dating, a long time ago, they went to simple places, like walks in the park, theme parks, simple restaurants.

Starla felt herself becoming lost in love with her memories, “Though it was all so simple, it didn’t matter to me… I was in love, and I was having fun hanging with Lightning, and getting to know him in so many new ways.

I didn’t feel I could ever need or want anything too fancy, though it was nice when it did happen.”

Pyron and Glaceia were astounded by this, having been raised a warrior and a prisoner, they heard of such common ways to please one’s love.

“Do you believe it would work with us?” asked Pyron.

Starla cocked her head in an “I don’t know” sign and said, “…Only one way to find out.”

The couple gazed at one another.

“I think we should try it.” said Galceia, and Pyron agreed.

Swift was walking through town, impatiently counting down the time until his date with Blitzy… by the very minutes and second. “Seven hours, forty-two minutes, and twenty-eight seconds to go.”

He noticed the big town clock far away; its minute hand moved a tiny little tick over. “Forty-one minutes now! GAH!! I wish it was time already, I can’t stop thinking about this! I’ve got to get a grip on myself.”

He was about to turn a corner, when saw Dr. Penny standing and talking with Blitzy, both on a break from the hospital, at the same stop.

“I’m really looking forward to this date.” Blitzy said, “And to think… I’m dating a Starfleet Officer.”

Penny giggled, “Well, Swift is very sweet, even if he seems stern and strict when he has to be, but I’m sure he’ll treat you well.”

Swift heard them, and he couldn’t help but give a smug expression.

But then he heard Penny say “…Or he could be one of those over-the-top mushy, gushy type.”

Blitzy giggled, “I saw many creatures like that in my travels. They always took it far for the sweethearts, turning into these lovey-dovey, fancy-pants.

Flowers, expensive restaurants, formal clothes, romantic rides…”

The ladies chuckled as they walked down the street, not noticing that Swift heard everything, and he was aghast. “What have I done?! Blitzy doesn’t like any of the stuff I’ve arranged?!”

He was now in an even greater panic than he was, not bothering to stop and think about what he was about to do next. “Time for some damage control!”

He dashed all around town and canceled all his arrangements-- the flowers, the restaurant, the carriage rides. This sent all the managers up the wall with frustration!

“First he checks in a million times…”

“Then he cancels…?!”

“Some people are just so hyper!”

Swift even rushed home and tucked his tuxedo in the closet and out of sight. He was out of breath and spinning in circles, and he fell on his bed with such a thud, the airwaves blew a small piece of paper off his desk nearby.

“Huh?” He picked up, and gasped! It was a page from the report he gave to Lightning earlier. “…I was so busy planning for the date I missed it!”

Though he was already tired from running around, he decided to rush it to Lightning right away. He dashed out the door…

…and CRASH!! ran straight into Lightning just as he was about to knock-- having noticed the paper was missing from the report.

Passersby saw the commotion, including Rarity and Spike as they were walking with Twilight.

“Whoa!” cried Spike.

“Oh, dear!” wailed Rarity.

The two men were flat on the ground with stars spinning around their heads, and the paper flopped onto Lightning’s chest.

“Sorry… sir.” groaned Swift.

“…No… problem.” said Lightning.

Rarity and Spike rushed over to help their friends up. “Are you two alright?” asked Spike.

“Just peachy.” Lightning grumbled as he brushed off his uniform and adjusted his cap.

Swift felt ashamed.

Meanwhile, in another part of town, ponies were going about their business, doing their work, hanging out, or other things…

…When suddenly…!

Magical freeze beams struck them, enveloping their bodies in icy glows, and they all froze right on the spot, unable to move, unable to even scream or make a sound.

Passersby began to scream in panic, only to, suddenly, be frozen themselves too.

Freeze Burn laughed wickedly. “What’s the matter-- having a little brain-freeze?”

The civilians still couldn’t move to call out for help.

“Soon Starfleet will arrive on the scene.” hissed Freeze Burn “And then I shall freeze them into place and…” he paused and chuckle “…Then we’ll really have a Hot Chillout!”

“You did what?!” Lightning snapped at Swift, when he and the others were told about Swift canceling his plans for that night.

“Are you crazy?!” Spike asked.

“Like I said…” Swift stated, “I heard Blitzy, she said she didn’t like all that mushy stuff. So, I cancelled it all.”

Rarity did all she could to keep calm from the shocking news she had heard. “Darling… as a lady, I must tell you, we never always mean what we say.”

Swift blinked in confusion, and Spike explained, “It’s like when a woman tells you “Nothing is wrong.” Something is definitely wrong.”

“You’re saying… I shouldn’t have taken what Blitzy said seriously?” asked Swift.

Rarity and Spike shook their heads. “Trust me…” said Rarity “Perhaps you even misunderstood what she had said in the first place.”

Swift thought back to what he heard and deduced that while Blitz was making fun of all the mushy-gushy couples she spoke of, that didn’t automatically mean she, herself, thought mushy romance was lame.

“Oh, no!! What have I done?!” he groaned. “Now, I have to go get everything back on track! Damage Control the Damage Control!!” and he zipped off in a dash.

“Bye… Bye…” cooed Twilight.

“Oh, Galloping Galaxies! He’s really flipped.” groaned Lightning.

The others nodded in dismay.

…And poor Swift was in for a load of disappointment, because everywhere he went, he couldn’t get his plans back on track. Someone else had bought the roses he had on reserve, the restaurant was now completely booked, and even the carriage rides were full… The manager even chased him out-- overly annoyed that he kept coming back with such paranoia!

Now he was really in trouble. “I’ve got no gift! No reservations! I don’t even have any backup plans! UGH!! Why? Why?? Why???” of course he knew he had no one else to blame but himself.

He could see the town clock, which read six hours until his date! “What am I going to do now?”

The sound of the alarms made him jump up in fright. “Oh, terrific! As if I didn’t have enough problems!” but he rushed off to where the danger was coming from.

When he arrived on the scene, he couldn’t believe what he saw-- many civilians were all standing perfectly still in and off the streets and couldn’t move an inch, and this could not be any cheap trick!

Keltar and Smark were each hiding in different areas, unseen by all and even each other.

“This marvelous.” hissed Keltar.

“All these ponies frozen are sure to draw Starfleet out now.” snickered Smark.

Among all the civilians, there was a familiar face…

“Blitzy?!” cried Swift. It was her, frozen in place at a café table where she was having lunch. She sat in her chair raising her sandwich to her face, and she was stuck in the very pose.

“Blitzy!” he called to her, but she couldn’t answer him.

“It’s no good…” snarled a gruff voice.

Swift turned round and saw the evil creature. Freeze Burn laughed and motioned at all the motionless ponies in the streets. “See how they can’t make a move, can’t even cry out. That’s what will happen to you now!”

Swift narrowed his eyes, and the monsters then cast a freeze beam at him, which he dodged by leaping out of the way.

The shot hit a little birdy that was sitting on a wall ledge, and the poor little thing froze up on the spot, unable able to move an inch, and it just keeled over.

Swift had an immediate idea of how this worked. “That beam must freeze the brain sensors that control involuntary muscles!”

“Quit jumping around so much.” sneered the monster. “You should be honored to be the first Starfleet Officer to come with me back to Flareous and Blizzord!”

He shot another beam at Swift, which he avoided by spinning to the side.

By that time, the sentries had arrived on the scene and begun to carry the frozen civilians inside to safety.

“We’ll take it from here.” one of them called.

“Right.” Swift nodded, and then, “Power On!” he transformed. “Okay, now I’m ready for you!”

“Really?” sneered Freeze Burn, and then he unleashed powerful fire blasts making explosions all around, which Swift barely dodged. The explosions toppled some of the civilians over, but since they were frozen stiff, they couldn’t feel anything.

“You nearly hit those people!” shouted Swift, but the monster snickered without much care. “Well, maybe you should let me hit you then. Of course, you could make it easier and come willingly.”

Swift stood his ground.

“Very well then…” hissed Freeze Burn. “Perhaps you need more persuasion!” and he summoned forth both Ice and Flame-Guards. “Attack!”

Though the two sets of guards were enemies with each other, being artificial, they only obeyed their orders and went straight at Swift with their weapons ready.

Most of the sentries were far too busy gathering all the civilians, but a few joined Swift by his side to fend off the invaders.

“Ha!” Swift punched a guard hard in the gut and sent him crashing into a few others.

The sentries combated others with their lances or magic.

With the fighters distracted, the monster had a clear shot at Swift, but one of the sentries did see-- the monster preparing to freeze Swift on the spot.

“Yes!” Keltar cheered softly.

“Do it! Do it!” murmured Smark.

The freeze beam was fired, and the sentry rushed over and knocked Swift out of the way, and she, herself, was hit by the beam and froze on the spot.

“No!!” cried Swift.

The monster laughed. “That’s one officer down, and soon the rest of you will be just like her!”

Swift and the other sentries were furious, but they were still crowded with more of the guards lunging at them.

The other sentries moved in to take more of the frozen civilians away. “Stay where you are!” the monster bellowed, and he prepared to unleash his fire blasts, when suddenly he got shot at from above by Uniforce Pulse Blasts.

That’s when Lightning, Starla, Rarity, Spike, and Pyron all came onto the scene-- Glaceia stayed behind to look after the children and keep them all safe.

“Freeze!” Lightning shouted.

“No, YOU freeze!” shouted the monster, and he unleashed his freeze beams at the group, forcing them all to dodge.

“I have never seen nor heard this creature before.” cried Pyron.

Lightning’s scans determined why. “It’s a combo of two monster badges. That’s why.” He also calculated the monster’s freeze ray.

“Don’t let it hit you! You’ll be stuck on the spot!”

The others agreed and split off to help Swift and the Sentries, while Pyron, Lightning, and Starla faced the monster.

“DRAGON FLAME-WHEEL!” Spike rolled along in a flaming streak, bowling through a load of guards.

Rarity roared at the guards that came at her, and she punched, kicked, and slashed at them with her claws. “Scoundrels…! Fiends…! Degenerates!!” she bellowed.

Swift got up, and finally made it over to Blitzy, picking her up and taking her to a safer place. “Don’t worry, you’re going to be okay.” he assured her.

Though Blitzy could not move or answer, she was still conscious she was very grateful, and her cheeks were blushing softly.

The trio rushed at the monster, and Freeze Burn unleashed a barrage of fire blasts. The trios swerved and ran past in their dash, right up to him.

They attacked-- punching, kicking, and Pryon landed a single hit with his sword. Sparks flew, but the monster was hardly damaged. “Is that the best you have!” he laughed.

“No, but this is!” Lightning called and he unleashed more Uniforce pulse blasts

“STAR SHOWER!” Starla unleashed her baggage, making sparks and big explosions knocking the monster over, but he only seemed angrier than hurt.

“It’s no good!” cried Starla “As long as he’s combined, his strength is twice as powerful.”

“Well then, maybe we should double our power too.” suggested Lightning.

His wife agreed, and “Super-Mode, Activate!”

“Impressive!” hissed the monster, “But not by enough!” and he shot at the two ponies with his freeze beams, only for the blasts to have no effect at all. “What?!”

Lightning and Starla smirked at each other, and then they both dashed forth and punched the monster hard in the chest, knocking him back hard, and causing only minimal damage. He was still just as strong as they were, and he punched them both hard sending them both crashing hard through low walls, smashing the brickwork into rubble.

“No!!” cried Pyron, and then suddenly he screamed as he was hit by the freeze-beam. Lightning and Starla were immune, but he wasn’t!

Lightning and Starla both stood and saw too late. “PYRON!!” and before they could do anything, the monster grabbed the motionless warrior and held him hostage. “Stay back!” he shouted at the officers. “One false move, and I’ll destroy him.”

That didn’t make sense to the duo.

“Destroy him?!” cried Starla.

“He’s the son of Flareous…!” added Lightning.

The monster was stunned at first. If he destroyed him, Flareous would destroy him for certain.

“You’ll still have to go through him to get me!”

Spike and Rarity saw the commotion, and rushed in to try and help, but Freeze Burn turned swiftly, “Stop!”

And they did.

“I’ll take him back to Moltic. King Flareous shall reward me well.” Then he had another idea “Or maybe I could take him to Iceinia, and Blizzord can have him a prisoner, and he will be pleased.”

The monster then found himself conflicted with his choices, unsure of which way to go.

“Of course…” said Spike “He’s a fusion of two monsters-- one from each force. He’s still a mix of loyalties.”

Keltar and Smark were both outraged with their monster. Neither one of them seemed to like either idea of the prince being taken to either planet.

“If he brings Pyron back, my plan will flop!” whimpered Keltar.

“He can’t bring him to Blizzord!” murmured Smark “…That pathetic prince is part of my plan!”

Neither one of them made any attempt to jump out, for fear of being seen or caught, and they would both be doomed.

While the monsters were busy contemplating which way to go, he was quite distracted.

Lightning wiggled his fingers to signal the others, “Wait for it…”

The others held their ground, and suddenly, the monster roared in frustration and grabbed his head with all four of his arms… letting go of Pyron and letting him fall.

“GO!!” shouted Lightning, and he quickly sprinted in, grabbed Pyron in his arms, and sprinted out of the way as the others rushed in.

“Target the monster badge!” hollered Starla.

“Right!” Spike and Rarity shouted.

The monsters snapped back to his senses, and shot at the trio, but they dodged his every attack, every shot.

“Take this!” Rarity shouted, slashing at the badge with her claws, cracking it.

“And this…!” hollered Spike as he slashed the badge with his sword, damaging it further.

“And this too…” said Starla as she readied her bow, “GALACTIC PROJECTILE!”

POW!! She fired her finisher shot, striking the badge hard, destroying it completely. The monster wailed and roared. Then he fell over backwards and exploded, leaving the Flame Guard and the Ice Guard standing helplessly surrounded.

“My turn!” said Spike “DRAGON KNIGHT SABER IGNITE!” His sword enveloped in flames, and he double slashed, striking each guard, making them both explode—shrink down and be imprisoned in spheres.

“Great shot, Spike!” cheered Rarity.

Starla proudly nodded at the couple as well, and then she looked way over at Lightning, and he proudly nodded back at her.

With the monster gone, the effect of the freeze beam wore off, and Pyron was able to move again.

“Oh, my!” he groaned as he flexed his muscles.

“Are you okay?” asked Lightning.

“I believe so.” Pyron felt very ashamed. “…Some warrior I turned out to be. I cannot believe I let that happen.”

“Don’t beat yourself up.” said Starla.

“Yeah, it could’ve happened to any of us.” added Spike, but Rarity gave him a look that told him that didn’t exactly help.

“…Very well.” said Pyron. He didn’t feel so down anymore.

All the other civilians who were frozen were now freed as well, including Blitzy.

“You okay…?” Swift asked. His only response was the loving smile she gave him, which made his heart race, but the moment was broken when he was asked by the sentries to help with other civilians.

As for Keltar and Smark, they were outraged and shocked that Freeze Burn had failed.

“I don’t believe it!” they both said at the same time, which finally alerted them to the other’s presence.

They each gawked at each other from afar, but rather than act surprised, horrified, or even question what each other was doing there, they mere nodded at one another and then each vanished through an invisiport, back to their respective planets.

That night, at Six pm exactly, Swift was waiting at a corner stop for the transport port from New Canterlot, eagerly awaiting Blitzy’s arrival.

Rather than wearing his tuxedo, he wore a simple sweater and jacket and pants, and he had with him a single daisy he had bought from the Florist’s.

Finally, the portal opened, and many ponies got off, and the last one was Blitzy herself. She really looked pretty. Wearing a simple blue skirt, a purple turtleneck sweater, and ordinary shoes.

“Hey…” she said.

“Good evening.” Swift said with a smirk, and he handed her the single flower, which she accepted with honor. “Thank you.”

Swift nodded proudly. “Ready to go? I know a burger joint where you don’t need reservations.”

“Sounds good, and maybe after we can walk in the park? It’s a beautiful night.”

“I’d like that.”

Then off they went, and they had a wonderful time, and they weren’t the only ones…

Pyron and Glaceia had tried the same things they did. They went out to a simple place for dinner, had some fun at a simple street fair, and had a walk in the park too. They began to enjoy simple means of dating.

As for the others-- Blitz even looped her arm around Swift’s and rested her head on his shoulder, which made chills run up his spine, but he loved it, nonetheless.

Yet, Blitzy couldn’t help but gaze up at the stars, with a slightly grim expression.

“Are you okay?” Swift asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” she answered, but Swift had a feeling he knew what was troubling her, that she missed being a Space Doctor and travelling all over the cosmos like she had her whole life.

Rather than talk about it with her, Swift began to feel a bit uneasy. What would this do with his chances with her, and after such a lovely night too?

By the time to head home came along, Swift brought Blitzy back to the transport so she could head back to her home in New Canterlot.

“It’s been a wonderful night.” said Blitzy.

Swift blushed, and they were both lost in each other’s eyes, but they didn’t move in for a kiss--not on the first date, and they were both worried about the same things-- Blitzy’s obvious deep wishes to return to Outer Space.

Yet, Swift had to ask, “Think we can do this again sometime?”

Blitzy gave him a loving smile and pecked him on the cheek. “…I’d say that’s definite maybe.”

Then the ports announced the portals opening up for New Canterlot, and she had to leave immediately. “Good night.”

“Bye…” Swift said ever so softly while feeling the spot on his cheek where he was pecked.

Then she was gone, and Swift was left to walk home with a mix of emotions inside of him, but more worry and concern over all things.

“What if she decides to leave?” he thought, “I mean, sure it’s a need she has, and I can’t just tell her “No” but… gosh! What am I going to do?”
