24 - Do You?

The day of the wedding arrived, everypony gathered together in a field far from the Ponyville city limits. Tables with food and punch covered much of one end of it, while at the other stood an altar. Rows of chairs had been laid out, filled with friends and family. Twilight had made many friends since arriving at Ponyville, which meant plenty of ponies there to see her, to speak nothing of the general word that a princess was getting married, which had only happened once to recollection.

Applejack rubbed her nose as she joined Twilight's side. "You ready, sugar-cube?" She patted Twilight on the shoulder. "Ain't no big deal, you'll be back to yer life in no time."

Twilight took a slow breath, moving her hoof with the motion as her step-sister had shown her. "I have this. Everything is in place. All I have to do is be one bride of several, say my lines, and that will be that."

Applejack chuckled. "I hear ya." She shook her head slowly. "You just got yerself into somethin' bigger than you expected."

Twilight laughed softly at those words. "I don't regret it, but the sooner we can be done with the spectacle part of it, the better." She hugged Applejack briefly and trotted with purpose towards the altar. The other brides and Brad had already gathered around Cadance, their gazes mostly on her as she spoke to them.

Cadance smiled to Twilight as she approached, then continued speaking to them. "There's everypony, nicely gathered. You all remember your parts?" At their nods, she gave one of her own. "Then we can begin." She inclined her head faintly towards a set of ponies that began playing a wedding tune.

The wedding proceeded simply. There were no incidents, not even the weather tried to ruin it, as they spoke the words that bound them to each other. Their new life as a herd was ready, if not for the fact they were already a herd.

They each said their I do's without hesitation and offered a hoof for another of their group to slide an arm-sized golden ring onto. Even Twilight, who had a horn that could take a smaller ring, went with matching the others with an arm ringlet instead so they all matched while standing there.

With that done, Cadance smiled and spoke to them all, "I now present Mr and Mrs Brad Buckson and Twilight Sparkle, as well as Mrs Rainbow Charm and Mrs Bella!" With those words said, the three brides turned towards their husband, then kissed him in turn. He threw his arms over all three of them and pulled them in for a group hug as cameras flashed.

Twilight let out a quiet laugh as they pulled apart. "We did it."

Brad kissed her on the nose. "Yes we did."

Rainbow Charm fluttered before them. "We did."

Bella bounced a bit in place without leaving the ground. "I don't know why we had to do all that to say what was already obvious, but I am happy to have done it." She nickered quietly. "But, we aren't horses, and that's good."

Cadance nodded slowly and spoke with all the gravity of royalty. "Then by the power vested in me by Equestria and the royal crown, you may now address them as princesses and prince." She coughed gently into a hoof. "Technically consort, but we won't rub that in." The crowd gently laughed.

Applejack stepped forward with her brother on stage. "Now that the ceremony part is done, it's time for refreshments!" She jerked a hoof back towards the tables. "We've got punch, cake, and a whole lotta food to fill your bellies!"

The crowd cheered, and movement began to filter away towards the after-wedding reception. One pony lingered behind, to wander up towards the newly weds as the crowd dwindled. Twilight saw them first and tensed. "Moon! I'm glad you, uh, decided to come. Look, I'm so—"

Moondancer stepped up onto the stand. "It's okay. You weren't wrong. You made a statement, and changing it that late would make you look bad." She sighed, but smiled despite that. "But I can still be involved. I waited too long. I don't want to do that anymore." She reached out with her hooves and pulled Twilight into an embrace.

Twilight felt a little of the tension fade from herself as she hugged Moon in turn. "Thank you."

Moondancer kissed Twilight's nose. "I want to meet the ponies who claimed you. I can't be close to you without interacting with them."

Rainbow Charm looked Moondancer over. "Never really spoke, I guess?"

Brad stepped forward and put his hoof out. "I've seen you around, but didn't know you were a friend of Twilight's until recently. I'm Brad. And you're Moondancer, right?"

She took his hoof. "Yes, that is my name. It's nice to meet you." She looked between them all as she let go. "I want to be a part of your lives from now on. I will gladly assist where I can, and be a friend outside that. Is that agreeable?"

Bella gazed at Moondancer with obvious appraisal. "You don't seem so nervous and scary now." She brightened to a smile. "If you want to be a friend, I'm okay with that."

RC inclined her head towards Moondancer. "We won't turn down a new friend."

Twilight nodded softly. "I'd like to keep you in my life too, Moondancer. Now, let's head over to the reception. Ponies are probably wondering what's taking us so long."

Rainbow Dash fluttered her wings eagerly as she approached Twilight and the others. "There's my best mare! And her harem."

Twilight snorted, but shook her head as well. "Don't call it that. We're all a herd, equals. They are not my harem as if I collected them and own them."

Rainbow laughed at that, then hugged her. "I'm just kidding." She stepped back to look over the rest of them. "All the best, ponies. I know this isn't the right order, but who do I speak to about getting flying lessons for these ground-bound foals?"

Bella blinked up at Dash. "I'm a full size adult horse, er, pony."

Dash chuckled at that. "I meant it as a figure of speech. Besides, you lot will have foals, some will have wings. You want somepony that knows flying to show them around, right?"

RC laughed at that. "Are you forgetting I have wings too?" She flapped her own. "And I do know how they work. But if you're offering to come with me when we start flying lessons, that's fine by me."

Twilight took a sip of her punch. "I'll admit, it would be great for any flying fillies or colts we have to learn from somepony that knows what they're doing. The more teachers, the better. I'm still newish to mine, so I will pass on that, but can recommend a good few books that helped me."

Brad chuckled and leaned in against Twilight. "The way we're talking about children is like it's just another day's business. Which, it may well turn into, but we don't need to think about that right now. Let's keep talking to ponies." He looked to the next in the line.

The Riches stepped forward, Filthy Rich and his wife, Spoiled Rich. Their daughter, Diamond Tiara, trailed just behind. She looked like she wanted to leave, but stood there with her parents. Filthy Rich smiled to Twilight. "Congratulations on your marriage." He pulled a card out of his pocket. "I wish you all the best for the future, and hope I will be able to do business with you."

Twilight accepted the card with her magic curiously. "I appreciate the offer, though I'm not sure what business that would be exactly."

Filthy nodded with a chuckle. "Keep the card. When the opportunity comes up, you'll know it, and who to call when it does. You all make a wonderful, if a bit large, family."

Spoiled snorted, one ear back. "It's work enough keeping an eye on the two beside me, and you're starting with three before any foals enter the picture? I can't say I envy you, Twilight. You always were a bit odd."

Diamond rolled her eyes and sighed. "Mom! You can't just call ponies odd because you don't like something they do. What did we talk about?" Her voice took on a lecturing tone.

Twilight giggled at the sight of a foal giving a lecture. "You're all welcome, and thank you for coming."

They offered their final goodbyes, then walked away with Diamond still lecturing Spoiled about what not to say in public.

Other ponies came and went, each offering their congratulations and well wishes, many saying they would be happy to help with the kids if they ever came along, and congratulating the new royal family on finding their loves.

"I can't believe I've lost both my foals." Night Light sniffled, pacing in place.

Twilight Velvet marched past him. "Don't mind him. That was a lovely wedding!"

"Thanks." Twilight smiled and looked around at all the other ponies that had come to see them wed. "And I'm not lost. You'll be able to visit as often as you like." She hugged her parents close. "And you didn't lose a daughter, you gained two more, and a son to go with them."

Night Light chuckled weakly. "Still. You're not just ours anymore. You've got your own family now, and we're all very proud of you. You've grown up to be quite an amazing pony." He pulled Twilight over tightly a moment. "You make us so proud, every single day."

Twilight nodded slowly. "Yeah, we can talk later. Go enjoy the reception. I think Pinkie has more games in store."

Cadance stepped forward to take her parents place, hugging Twilight as they left. "Things have gone well, so far." She glanced around as if expecting something to ruin the wedding at some point. "Good." She leaned in, touching her nose to each of theirs. "I'll keep hoping yours is without so many distractions as mine was." Cadance moved through to hug each of them. "And now I can welcome Twilight into our royal family, as well as the three of you." She kissed each of their noses, then laughed softly. "And I get to stop being the newest royal family."

Twilight nodded at that. "Thanks again for officiating, we couldn't have done it without you." She turned to Brad. "Say hello to your sister-in-law."

Brad blinked, the gears turning in his mind as he worked through how that worked. "Oh, yeah! Heya." He offered a hoof towards the larger alicorn. "I got a lot of sisters today. This is going to be confusing for me."

Cadance chuckled. "You're going to be quite a fun addition, aren't you?"

"I'll do my best." Brad grinned at her.

They spoke a little more to Cadance before she walked off to allow others to advance.

Mayor Mare nodded. "If Princess Cadance wasn't here, I would have been delighted to officiate it myself. It went wonderfully. I didn't expect you, Twilight, to be the next married, to a herd no less. Just goes to show that even in Ponyville, you can be caught entirely by surprise. I thought nothing could get me at this point." She let out a slow breath as they all offered their own congratulations to her.

Twilight smiled. "I think we surprised all of Ponyville with that one."

Mayor Mare laughed softly at that, then excused herself. "Have a lovely day."

Moondancer was the next up. "It'd be improper if I didn't appear here." She stepped in closer, voice dropping, "I'll be ready after the wedding." She stepped back. "Congratulations to you all," she finished in a louder tone.

Twilight blushed and looked away, but nodded.

Bella leaned forward to hug Moondancer, though it seemed more for the sake of putting her nose beside Moon's ear. "Glad we can have you over later," she whispered.

The day ended without calamity, to some ponies' surprise. The newest royal family was welcomed to Ponyville and Equestria beyond.
