It was good to be in the top of fame and fortune for a pegasus named Wave Chill, member of the elite group The Wonderbolts, Celestia's exclusive aerial acrobatic team. Being part of such team was the dream of hundreds of young fliers all across Equestria and an honor by itself; however Wave wasn't part of them by a childhood dream, or wealthy delusions, for him it all was a much more serious matter than anyone in the team could ever imagine. For some of the other members it was a familiar matter, like to Soaring whose family have had at least one representant in the Wonderbolts since they were founded, or Fleetfoot whose representation in the Wonderbolts was the pride of her whole hometown, for Wave Chill it was much more like a mission long entrusted to him, of course he enjoyed all the cheers of the crowd when they had a public presentation, and he even had fans not less, fans that cried and fainted to his sole presence like certain pink coat mare with yellow mane whose name he didn't know, she banishing after saw him, that was a shame but all that support and admiration felt nice around him.
He trained every day with a cold determination to never betray his mission, even when it had been given so long ago, besides, no matter how hard he tried, pegasus like Spitfire, Rapidfire, or the last mentioned before could always fly at a faster rate, or perform tricks in what seemed a slightly easier way, Wave Chill was utterly frustrated at the fact, and even if he was the fastest flier from where he did come, seemed to never be able to beat the talent of their natural gifted companions.
They all used to saw him as a friend, even despite his attitude towards job and training, some nice words at any other time were enough to melt away his cold personality and bring out his deeper easy going personality. But at times like the daily training hours he was distant, serious and focused, at the point of ever stay training for a couple more hours in the stadium that was reserved exclusively for Wonderbolts practice field. Thing that wasn't very recommendable in a daily basis, but he used to do that and never showed physical exhaustion symptoms, even so, maybe was his mind the one that was tired, too concentrated in overshadow his teammates, or so did thought Spitfire.
Little did he know, or really care, the way that their teammates were worried for his almost obsessive attitude towards practice, they considered their team as a nice club full of camaderie or even as a family, so more than care for who was better. They were actually well concerned in the way he used to train till after hours, and worried of him becoming fatigued and risk his health, and the security of the team during any of the complicated and precise stuns they performed, so in semi-secretive conversations, the responsibility of talk with him about these concerns fell upon the team's captain.
Spitfire had been watching him train that afternoon, wanted to be noticed into concern to have a opportunity of talk with Wave Chill earlier, but he was so focused in his training that didn't notice her, and that dedication actually impressed her, instead of grow in worries she did see something wonderful there, he wasn't training to beat any of his teammates but to beat himself she thought, and maybe she was right, but the only vague idea that convinced her of that was the fact that Wave Chill was an important member of the team, with a guaranteed part in the squadron, and even if they all were pros at what they do, he kept an exceptional readiness into improvement, that afternoon spitfire didn’t see a worried pegasus striving beyond his capabilities, but a very interesting colt in prime shape, fulfilling her dreams right there and then, thing that made her blush for an instant for feel guilty of spying. So she was kind of disappointed when he'd leave without even notice her Wonderbolt costume between the stadium bleachers, and since she had enjoyed the show she didn't want to disturb him before.
That day Wave Chill stayed training very late into the afternoon, before exhaustion could be enough to be carried to the next day he decided to hit the bathtub for a long and relaxing cold shower, the lights in the sky were red and orange, showing how the princesses were fulfilling their daily game, passing control over the exterior world represented by their heavenly objects. Was under these remaining lights when spitfire sneaked into the bathtub room surprising Wave Chill with the sound of someone still there. He was going to shout a "Who's there?" surprised by the stormy way of enter hitting the doors, but after actually give a second thought on whose coat was that golden one, he didn't mind at all.
The bathtub room wasn't exclusive to colts or mares, and she was the captain of the team after all, but to find her without her Wonderbolts’ protection suit wasn't very common for him, but that was the bathtub room after all. Even so, something was kinda off with her. "She's smiling in a twisted way" he thought, "kinda sultry at me while approaching".
"Hey Wave". She said moving in slow motion to him and wagging in a very particular way her flanks "Don't tell me you don’t recognize me without my uniform".
"It's not that captain, is just that you surprised me being here this late"
"Ooh, I was outside watching you train; I must confess I was kinda disappointed after you didn't talk to me after you finished". She said finally standing just next to him, Wave was sited inside the bathtub, but they shared the same eye level "oh, sorry captain, you can always find somepony watching the training outside, but I don’t usually find anypony else here after I finish"
"You can call me by my name, it's Spitfire, did you know it? You're the only one calling me captain always"
"Sorry captai... hmm... Spitfire” he said, she jiggled a bit.
"Actually that’s why I’m here today, to talk to you. The team is worried about you taking everything too serious, and that you can hurt yourself doing extra training".
"No capi.. No spitfire, I’m just fine".
"The others are worried about you even hiding a lesion of them. And that you could put at a risk on the team by not telling" she said lying into him from outside the bathtub.
"No!" he interrupted, “I could never stain my name causing an accident like that!”. He thought even about say how he could always have enough energy during a performance, but before open his muzzle too much decided to play down. “I’ll be the first one complaining if I ever get hurt, don’t worry".
"Oh, I’m not worried, I saw you training".
"And what do you think?"
In that moment she entered the bathtub with him, shivering a little to the shock of the cold water, and the sudden change of temperature in her body. "Cap... Spitfire?"
"Ah, a nice cold shower hum? Good after training. Bad news are that I was just warming my flank in the bleachers"
"It can be bad to enter just like that, come here" he offered, his hooves up to her for a hug. After all a hug never is bad received in the ponies’ culture, even personal space seems to have less range than other species, she lied forward to him taking back the hug, placing her head on his chest, and parting her hooves to his sides. Her scent was nice to him, like a cactus flower he thought, then identifying something else, a scent he was taught to detect, something that made him feel nervous.
"I know you're not hurt, I didn’t notice any sign of that, in fact I became appreciative to your fit current state" she said a parting away a little from the hug to tell him face to face. "But actually I’m worried about your attitude, you seem to be a nice, and ultimately plain good colt, but I have seen you gloating at the crowd just before, and after, a presentation. It's not a bad thing to feel that way, I guess, after all being who we are". He blushed at this taking his face away from hers, she pulls him back to her with her hoof and keeps going "But you drastically seems to change right in that moment, you strive yourself into perfection just to feel appreciated during that brief moment, don’t you?"
His eyes wide opens after hearing that, like if a suddenly shook just reached him from an unseen place. Since when has he been doing this just for that moment? It wasn’t helping to keep a low profile; it sure wasn’t for personal glory, but what Spitfire just said seemed to be fully truly inside his chest.
"But what if, I help you to relax", Spitfire said caressing his cheek. “This could help you loosen up, and lighten up the performance of your ponyeuvers”. Spitfire blabbed before laid closer and putting her lips above his.
The kiss of Spitfire was soft and tender, he saw it coming all along, but he didn't do anything to try to stop her, even if he knew that she was doing it for all the wrong reasons. Now she was just above him, with her hooves embracing him, apparently willing to give him everything he wants, her soft coat and hot body was a pleasant feeling between the cold water, and even with hooves her caresses were soft and tender, but he had a sudden and displeasing doubt, why was she doing this? Did she like emotionally distant ponies? He didn’t gave her any hint to this, besides Spitfire was his captain, it could create problems to everyone in the team, it could be a problem to him. Of course these thoughts didn’t prevent him form keep kissing her.
“Silly pony, you have to kiss me back” she said parting away just to dive back starting to pushing her tongue between his lips, he began to enjoy her taste, and explore her tongue.
"I think you are too focused in your training" Spitfire said while pushing herself out of the kiss, and exposing her neck as a new kissing field. "Maybe you need some kind of… release, to increase your performance" she said nuzzling his ears, trying to creating expectative for her kisses again. "you know, Soaring has an addiction for pies, I have seen him eat them right from the floor, don’t tell our nutritionist" she whispered the last part, as if you cared for Soaring, at any moment, even less now, "High Winds has music, Surprise her pranks... " she suddenly fell silent has you started feeding from her right in her neck, the willingly mare sighed and the dearly memories stop finally. As he keeps on it, she returns her lips to meet each other, and he keeps kissing her, sure enough she won’t talk again.
"Capi..."
"Oh, just call me whatever you like"
"Captain, I’m not... "
"Don't worry; I'm on my safe days".
"Isn’t that. Captain. Are you sure you want this?” She eyed him for a moment, and start to drop lazy kisses all over his face, small soft bites all around his neck, and warmly breaths over his ears for a while, when he does the same things back. She was going to answer, but she’s not in the mod for words anymore. pulling a hoof under their bodies she start looking for his stallionhood, but after don’t find on it she realizes the cold water can be the one to be blamed, so she starts lying her haunches against his expecting a warmth and hardening place to rub against. While he holds her, kissing anywhere he can.
"Captain, I have never done this before with anypony”. She stops in that moment in moderate surprise, she watch him like looking for signs of humor, or deception.
“Not even to groupies?". She bluntly ask
“Nopony”.
"Didn’t you and soaring take that Dash filly together after the competition last year?"
"I just flied her to her the meeting, I didn't know what soaring did with her after that".
