Pinkamena Origins
10 Years Ago, The Rock Farm
Load Full StoryIt was a hot, sunny day and the Pie family was working hard. After about an hour or so, the children got a break. They all gathered in the barn and sat down on the hay.
"This is hard work," said Inkie, wiping sweat from her forehead.
"Yeah," agreed Blinkie. "It's so... hot, too..."
"Come on, girls," said Pinkie with a groan. "We have to at least try harder. Sure, it's hot... and hard... but we have to."
"Yeah," said Blinkie. "Unfortinately."
Inkie laid back on the hay and sighed. "When I move out of here... I'm getting a nice place in Trotingham. With a nice view of the town."
"Trottingham's nothing," said Blinkie. "I'm movin' to Manehattan."
"Manehattan?" asked Inkie, confused. "That would be expensive."
"So? I'll get a job and work hard."
"But... you're moving, so... you don't have to work hard."
Blinkie sighed. "What about you, Pinks? Where would you go?"
The pink foal smiled. "I was thinkin'... Ponyville."
"Ponyville?" asked Blinkie. "That's... nothing."
"Compared to Trottingham and Manehattan, maybe," said Pinkie. "I just would like to live the simple life, ya know? Not worrying about whether or not I can afford my house. Not hearing the noises of the big citiies. Just... living."
Blinkie laid back. "That does sound nice."
"Come on, girls!" came their father's voice. "Only another two hours to go!"
The foals sighed and got up.
1 Hour Later...
The family put away their tools in the barn and headed back to the house. Pinkie Pie stopped and looked up as the others entered the house.
"I wish something exciting would happen around here," she thought aloud.
Suddenly there was a distant crack and low rumble when suddenly an arc of rainbow-colored light passed over the far from a distant explosion. Pinks stared at it, wide-eyed and mesmerized. Suddenly a powerful gust followed, blowing leaves around and messing up the foal's mane.
"Wow..." she said, feeling herself fill with happiness. "That's... beautiful."
The Next Day...
The family left the house the next morning to go rotate the rocks in the south field. They looked around but found no signs of Pinkie when they suddenly heard music come from the small barn.
"Pinkamena Diane Pie, is that you?!" asked the mother sternly.
The pink foal popped her head out through the doorway. "Mom. Dad. I need you and the sisters to come in right away."
They looked at each other but went to go check it out. The opened the door and found the place filled with balloons, streamers, and a big cake. Confetti rained down as Pinkie jumped out from behind the cake.
"SURPRISE!" she cheered. "Do you like it?"
The family just stared, mouths quivering. The pink foal sighed and turned away. "You don't like it."
The family suddenly burst out in smiles and the pink foal gasped happily.
"You do like it!" she chimed.
The sisters trotted up to her, giggling.
"What's all this, Pinks?" asked Blinkie.
"Well, I saw how sad you all were and I wanted to make you happy."
"Wel, it worked," said Inkie.
Pinkie smiled. "Glad you all like it."
Inkie gasped and pointed at Pinkie's flank. "What's that?"
"Huh?" asked the pink foal, looking. She let out a gasp. "My CUITE MARK!!!"
"Cool!" said Blinkie. "Looks like... three balloons."
"Balloons!" yelled Pinkie. "Best day ever!"
Later That Night...
Pinkie lay awake in bed, rubbing her cuie mark and smiling. Just then Blinkie trotted up beside her bed.
"Hey," she said softly.
Pinkie smiled at her. "Hiya."
"Look, Pinks... What you did was amazing. Because of you... our parents have become better ponies. They said we could take tomorrow off and have fun."
The pink mare smiled wider. "Feels so good to do good."
Blinkie nodded. "Well... Good night, sis."
"Night, sis," said Pinkie.
Blinkie then headed back to her own bed and the two fell asleep.
