Chapters The bright Equestrian sun slowly arose in the sky over the quiet village of Canterlot, illuminating the pastel thatched buildings and awakening the residents of each dwelling in turn. When the the sun hit one shop in particular, I'd probably say it was Eternal Inspiration's cottage. This odd building, the door a worn wooden panel reinforced with an inlay of rusted iron, creaked on its ancient hinges.
A display window on the front revealed the front room, a kind of organized mess if you ask me, yet who am I to judge? Mine is just as worse, this big old rusted tower was falling apart even the butler pony was all old and useless, but he always had enthusiasm and always get's the job done. I galloped thought the halls and came to my old parents room, they passed away a few years ago, I miss them so much...
Along the back wall, row after row were different sized boxes, each one similar in design with a single nub on the top. Adjacent to this display of boxes was a set of stairs, I never dared to even place one hoof on these stairs before my parents passing, it was always seemed so spooky up there.. that's why I never actually knew whats up there... I slowly moved up with caution, I felt scared. I got up the stairs eventually. I put one hoof in front of the other, being careful to check for holes and rotted floorboards, eventually after about 5 minutes of pacing I discovered that the pathway lead to a hall with three adjoining rooms: one to the left, right, and straight ahead.
Neither one seemed safe, but who doesn't like a good adventure once in a while? I chose my room carefully, and headed for the right door. I switched on the lights, the sound of light snoring could be heard emanating from the door on the left. Hanging on one wall of the room, which was actually rather small, was a large map of Equestria with hoof written notes on several locations. Surrounding the map was a menagerie of posters of the Wonderbolts, and a map of Fillydelphia. Overlaid with a smattering of machine schematics.
Underneath the gaze of the best flyers in Equestria were many stacks of books, everything from a "Beginners Guide to Magic" to "Flying for Derps" and...
"Ohh.. my.. Father you naughty colt" I spotted a play pony magazine.
"That dirty bastard" I chuckled, I couldn't help it. I picked it up and threw it away out of my sight. I continued to search. The piles of books and papers was only broken by a desk cluttered with stationery and a large, plush, cream colored bed.
I gallopped out the room and went down those cracked torn down old stairs, finding that dirty magazine made me understand how naughty my Father was, it wouldn't get out of my mind. I continued through the hallway of doors and eventually ended up out the front door. I swung it open with a mighty force, the squeaking of the hinges probably ripping my ears off.
When I finally got out side I see Eternal Inspiration, her expression tells me she was shy, she spoke....
" Um.. hello.. I believe you're Diamond Brit? "
My face was in disbelief, how did this magnificent mare know my name?
I locked my lifeless eyes into hers, the colors entering my body and filling up the empty spaces in my heart. Oh sweet Celestia, could I be falling in love?
Several short moments passed by, but to me it felt like countless hours of silence. The wind started to power up, and soon enough it bought my iron door to it's last moment. The last thing I remember before my whole life changed was me motioning a hoof towards the insides of my so called home. The pony before me cringed and took small slow steps towards where my door should be. We got in the safe zone, but I was still outraged at the weather. I had maybe just fallen in love and it had rained?! Sheesh.
Then again, what can I expect? I live near the edge of Canterlot, but I don't think we're even near being in the Canterlot zone. The few times I've visited the centre of the city, I've seen many ponies strutting around with their heads in the air as if the own the damn place. I've seen the palace, and many more sights that not everypony else might not have seen. But this part.. it's so cold. It feels like a living nightmare round here. I can barely even afford this old thing, I'd hate to loose it at a time like this. My mind was busy focusing on the view outside. Leaves were blowing witha great force across the land, and branches snapped off the trees. Seems like it's going to be a pretty rough storm.. this place is no shelter, but it will have to do for now.
I landed my mind back on Eternal Inspiration, who was now huddled in the corner. I galloped over to her, and put a hoof on her back.
" Shhhh... it will all be okay " I reassured. The only answer I got was a few sniffles, and in return she buried her head underneath my wing. It's nice to know she feels safe with me.
" What brings you here? Why didn't you stay in your own cottage, where it's nice a cosy? " I asked.
" If I had a cottage any more... " she trembled. My mouth spread open, what in Equestria did she mean?!
" What do you mean by that? Are you suggesting that- "
" Yes... my house was taken away hours ago.. I've been shut out in the cold ever since " she shivered, she obviously was uncomfortable talking about it, but I had to find out more.
"But what made you come here? How did you know my name? How do you even know where I live? "
" Diamond Brit... I remember you from my childhood. We never got the chance to talk, but I still remembered you. You were always a very kind and caring pony. A while after we left school I forgot you completely.. I never heard from you again since. I continued my life and I took care of animals. Until today when I lost my house.. When I got outside there was this weird grey pegasus just drifting about in the sky holding a letter in her mouth. She asked me if I knew who Eternal Inspiration was, I told her it was me and so I recieved the letter off her. I read it, but there was no name signed. Neither a return adress. Despite it not being written, the post office knew your adress. I went around asking alot of ponies, and one of them finally pointed out your home, they also told me your name and I remembered it all. I knew I'd feel safe with you so, I came here... "
The words struck through me like a hurricane. She remembered me after school.. I couldn't believe it. Slowly but surely, a smile faded onto my face..
" Come sit over here with me, we'll keep eachother safe... I promise. "
The words I spoke we're pure and true, I would keep this magnificent mare safe. We both snuggled together to keep each other warm, I thought to my self " Oh my, from school I say. A lost old friend and she seems comfortable around me already."
" Haha" I chuckled.
" Why, yes please. This rain is making me quite scared but I'm not that scared, after all I do have this big handsome stallion to protect me."
" Hahaha" I chuckled
"Aww, my dear you are a delight" I replied as calmly as I could, although deep down my heart was beating as fast as it could get.
Eternal raised her eye brow in confusion looking a round in distress " Where is the fire place Diamond?" I was bathilled my self, thinking for a moment about where it was...
Eternal Inspiration seemed so calm since as she stepped in my lovely home. There must be something she really liked about me, to be so calm and passionate with me. Then again, there was something I started to like about her my self. My mind was full of confusion, to meet an old school friend, that I have not seen in so many years. I wonder if things start to get serious?
*Squeeze* As she slowly made her way to the fire place, she was sneezing quite aggressively. My suspicions was that she had a cold, "poor mare to have her home taken away from her. I can only imagine how she must be feeling." I thought to my self.
with a tear forcing its way down my cheek. I made my way in to the kitchen to make her some nice hot carrot and leek soup. I then gently placed the tray with soup and bread on my back, in my thoughts, i was coming up with an amazing idea. "She could stay with me since she has no where to go. It's the least I could do for her."
It was a brilliant idea to get to know her better, to catch up from all those years. I curved my head in my mane frightened in the response she would give if I asked. *Gulp* I made my way to the fire place in my own study room, I haven't been in there for a long time I thought it would bring back some memories of my childhood. As I made my way to her she was shivering, cold, and alone. This poor mare needed somepony to be there for her, and that somepony shall be me. My stomach was full of butterflies once again, but my mind was at ease. I felt happy that I had company, it has been so long since I ever had company. "Hello again my dear I brought you some nice hot soup to help that cold." She tried to get up but was too weak to move. I placed the tray next to her and she began to sip the soup, I see she was having trouble with her hoof. So I decided to help.
"Here let me help you my dear." I levitated the spoon with my magic and she began to sip.
My heart is beating relentlessly, my face was blushing bright red. I felt so happy being next to her. While inspiration was sipping the soup, I took a glance at her flank to understand her cutie mark, as I remember she didn't have a cutie mark the last I saw her. As I stared, these words kept appearing in my trance of thought. "This magnificent mare." I set my mind at ease, I saw that she was still shivering so as a gentlecolt I got up and went to get my blue warm snugly blanket. She stared with this sad face like she was scared without me next to her and was about to cry as I left her side.
" I'll be right back my dear I'm just nipping in to the other room to fetch you a blanket"
Her face was brought to a smile as she turned back to look at the soup and give it the rest few sips before finishing.
" Here you go my dear." As I placed the blanket on her back and wrapped it around her, she snuggled up looking extremely happy. She finished the rest of the soup and placed her muzzle on my fluffy chest. She spoke so soft and quietly
I replied in a quiet tone, as she was closing her eyes. "You'r very welcome my dear." She buried her muzzle in my chest and fully closed her eyes and fell asleep. Both of our manes curved together, her head was beneath mine. I felt so relaxed and calm as she was laying right there next to me. I feel asleep with her in front of the fire place and drifted off with a warm sensation of happiness. after a big long night I woke up to still to find Inspiration fast a sleep still buried in my soft fluffy chest.
"Inspiration can you hear me darling?" I said gently.
Making sure I didn't wake her as she was still dreaming.
" Hi Diamond, are you okay?
"Yes my dear I am, how about you. Feel any better? I replied
" I still feel a bit tired.." As I could see the bags under her eyes.
" would it be okay to sleep some more? "
My face was full of happiness as I allowed her to sleep some more.
"Of course my dear, here. Bring your head back to my chest if you like my dear."
" Thank you diamond I am so happy I found you my dearest friend."
My mouth dropped with so much expression I can't tell how I am feeling. Happy, overjoyed, in love? "Oh sweet celestia of equestria I'm in love!"
I stopped thinking as she buried her muzzle back in to my fluffy chest. She yawned again and slowly closed her eyes.

As I remember she stood up for me, when the other fillies were teasing me because of my British ascent. I remember the words of tease.
"good moron there chaps" i said. everyone turned around and laughed.
" hahahaha, diamond, diamond, is so posh, he can even spell upper cross!"
" Hey! Now that's not very nice, what happened to love and tolerance? And better yet, kindness to everypony!?" She said in furious tone.
One of the fillies stood up. She looked nearly as stuck up as diamond tiara as she wasn't born yet of cause. I remember meeting diamond tiara when I bumped in to Filthy rich. A few weeks ago when i was in ponyville to help with the zap apples on sweet apple Acres.
" OH! And what are you going to do about it huh?" She replied in a snotty tone.
Eternal was furious and shouted as everypony could hear even miss Cheerilee.
" How dear you be nasty to this nice, charming colt, he hasn't done anything wrong to you. So... leave..! Him..! Alone!!!"
As Eternal finished, the other ponies stepped back with fright and miss cheerilee came out quickly and called everypony in. Diamond tiara always had far to much to say for her age, as this filly was just like her. But she soon shut up when Eternal finished.

My life wasn't very existing as it always had the same routine. Got up, shower, dressed in my light blue tux and went to work.
" I never have visitors I wonder who this could be." i said with worry on my face.
The knock grew louder and I got scared. "One moment I'm coming." I shouted.
I live on the out skirts on Canterlot you don't meet many ponies as I only know one pony who lives on a cottage called Eternal inspiration. I didn't know her personally, I have heard of her around on my travels. I opened the door to find the princess. Yes thy princess Celestia at my door. I looked up at the alicorn standing before me with two guards each side of her. My mouth dropped in shock. My heart beating in fear as I seen them two. I never done anything wrong but they still gave me the willies.
I thought to my self. "Princess Celestia I wonder why-."
My thoughts were stopped as she spoke.
"Hello, Diamond Brit. May I come in?" The princess asked. My face brought to a smile.
"Of cause my dear, um... I mean princess... Sorry." I said in fright. My heart skipped its beat as I thought I dishonoured the princess.
"Thank you Diamond." Said the princess with a smile as she entered.
She walked in with her two guards behind her the one on the left gave me this evil look. I lifted my eye brew in confusion once again.
"What did I do wrong to be given that look." Diamond whispered to himself.
" Excuse me? You got something to say!" Said the guard with an angry look on his face.
" Banging armor get here now!!" The princess said in a angry tone.
The guard bit his lip and turned around to put his head down and slowly make his way to the princess. Me and the other guard smiled and chuckled. The princess looked at the other guard with an angry duck face look. He soon shut up and I did too. This was the first time I ever heard the princess rise her voice. I was quite scared. I sweating like mad. I always thought of the princes as a gentle soul but as every pony says" you can't judge a book by its cover or is this case, don't judge a princess by her smile, there mite be something dark and scary underneath.
The princess spoke."I am disappointed in you Banging armor, go back to the castle and stay there I have a lot to think about."
"Ouch" I thought to my self. "That must sting."
The guard passed by me, he said nothing. I could see a tear forcing down his cheek I could only grieve for him. He left and the door banged behind the guard. The princess looked at me with a smile again. I was scared for a moment. her gentle voice as she spoke took my fear away.
" sorry about that Diamond." The princess said with a smile.
"It's quite alright princess, what's going to happen to Banging armor?" I replied. My face was a bit sad, I felt sorry for him.
" I don't know I have a lot to think about with him but enough off that. I have something important for you diamond." Said the princess as she used her magical horn She brought me a letter wrapped in what looks like a carefully done seal.

I was about the read the rest of the letter but The princess spoke and I moved the letter down to look at the princess.
"Of cause princess as I'd really love to work at sweet apple acres. I hear Ponyville is a nice place with friendly ponies."
"Wow Ponyville on sweet apple acres, finally i can work on a farm and put my hardworking skills to the test how delightful all this sounds."
The princess gave a smile and spoke. "Well diamond here are two choices, you can work at sweet apple acres or help in fashion shop called carousel boutique." I didn't know what to say there all sounded wonderful I wondered if I could try both off them.
" Would it be okay to try both princess?" I asked with hoping the answer would be a yes.
The princess gave a frown and spoke. "I'm sorry Diamond you can only choice one."
I thought really hard about this "Hmm sweet apple acres or Carousel boutique." I said with my hoof on my chin thinking really hard which one i would suit. I made up my mind and spoke my last words about the subject.
"princess I'd love to go to sweet apple acres." I said with the biggest smile on my face.
The princess smiled and spoke. "splendid diamond, i thought you would choose sweet apple acres. I have already sent a letter to the apple family of your arrival."
I was full of excitement and joy I couldn't believe it "Wow thank you princess."
The princess gave only a smile and gave her leave with her guard beside her. "Here princess let me open that for you" I said. I used my magic to open the door and she took her leave with these last few words. "You best get packing diamond they will see be expecting you there at 6AM sharp."
"yes will do princess and thank you again." I replied.
she hopped in to her big carrier and her two shofers flew her back to the palace.
As you know the zap apples are coming very soon and the princess had told me about your amazing work on farms. I ask you to come and help at sweet apple acres. i do hope you say yes. The princess has asked you personally to help with the zap apples We will have a party for you in ponyville when you arrive since your new. You will be staying with me in my house for the time being. Be in ponyville at 6AM sharp I will be expecting you there.
