I don’t know where to start. Writing down my thoughts in this journal feels odd to me. I’ve written letters before, but I never write for my personal use in a journal. Never, but my dearest friend, Cherry Blossom, gifted me a journal not too long ago and encouraged me to write down my thoughts or events that had happened to me, as a comfort mechanism. “Who knows? Maybe someday when we are gone, some pony or some creature might find this journal, and read your thoughts and stories. And maybe they can pass your story from generation to generation.” It’s what she said in her last letter. I wonder if that's the reason why Cherry recommended me to write in a journal instead of a letter. To have a feeling that I’m writing to them and you.
I’m not a very good storyteller, but I do like the sound of writing down a few stories in this book, just like what she said, and I have one story in mind that I would like to write. But once you read this book, you can never go back. You will learn its history, story, legends, and tales. A secret that you could never imagine. And the truth about a secret city that was right underneath our hooves, paws, or claws. A place where I call home.
Get comfortable because this is going to be a long ride. Let me tell you the story of how everything started and how it all ended. Where I made new friends, made new foes, nearly lost my brother, and lost my life.
It all started back in my old home, Ponyville…
Author's Note
Almost four years that this story was born and I did not worked on it! And I'm sorry for that!
I want to get back to writing, along with the story "CODY" and "WONDER." So I hope you enjoy this little prologue, and hope you're excited for the future!
It was a beautiful morning if I could remember. The Princess of our lovely home was slowly raising the sun, bringing light into our quiet and sleepful home. The sky was painted with its beautiful bright colors. Its orange, yellow, and pink colors were hitting the bottom of the clouds as the blue colors were slowly fading in. I could feel the sun's warmth as the cold air blew against my fur, hair, and tail.
From the rain the other day, puddles were still everywhere, knowing that they wouldn't be dried off for another couple of days since the weather had been nothing but cool. All of the grasses were shining from the reflection of the sun through their wet drops from the rain. Bees were flying around as they were buzzing, and the birds were awakening as they sang. "What a beautiful day.” I thought to myself.
Slightly wagging my tail from side to side, my tail touched the tip of the grass, feeling just the tip cold and nice. I can also feel the coldness around the bottom of my paws and hooves. With each step I take, I can feel and hear a small sound of dirt being pushed down by the pressure of my weight, like a small squish. But that didn't bother me too much, I've gotten used to feeling stones and mud on my paws.
As I walked along the muddy path, I turned to see the apple trees that were on the other side of the fence. They were sparkling and clean, and the tiny drops of water that were on top of the apples began to fall slowly. One by one. Drip, drip, drip. The white fence looked like it had just been washed and cleaned from the rain last night, but only the top of the fence was washed as the bottom was still covered in dirt and mud. I looked up at the orange sky, taking a deep breath to the point that my lug felt full. I hold it in for a few seconds, and I let it all out, letting out a long sigh.
This feels amazing, I thought. I can smell everything that is around me. I could smell the wet grass, the sweet scent of the apples hanging from the trees, and the air that almost smelled like fish (for some reason), but I loved it. I loved it all.
It's truly a beautiful day.
I was walking along a small trail that took me to a small town called Ponyville. As I’m walking along the trail, a farm that belongs to the Apple Family is connected to this trail, and that farm is called Sweet Apple Acres. It's not so far from my home. It only takes me about 15 minutes to get there by just walking. It's a shame, though, that I don't leave the house so often. This was the first time in three months, I think. I lost count. I’m always stuck at being home along with my older brother, Max. But I had no choice. We had no choice.
Max has been sick ever since he was little before I was born. It was the time when my parents and Max used to live in a fancy city named Canterlot.
Canterlot is best known as “the most unique city in Equestria.” But being surrounded by rich and rude ponies who think that they can step on any pony who’s below them; doesn’t seem to fit “unique” in the name. Not unless you’re one of them, which in my family, we’re not.
After finding out that my brother had a rare illness, the ponies there didn’t want to deal with my parents or help them. They were too afraid to be near Max and our father. Why? Because they’re half a species.
Our father was born as a half-creature. The front side of his body was the shape of a wolf, while the back had hooves rather than paws. And a much larger size than an average pony. Father did look slightly scary for his size, but he would never hurt anyone. Not even Mom.
While Max grew up, he began to develop his sickness. Having a hard time breathing, headaches, sneezing, coughing up blood sometimes, and so on.
His condition only grew worse and worse, our parents had to do something, and they did. They tried contacting doctors, too, but they were too afraid to get near my brother, fearing that his illness might be contagious. Any pony they reach out to always ends up running or hiding away. They had no hope that was left for Canterlot for them. Out of rage, our father shouted, “If they don’t welcome us at all, then let’s just leave!” And they did. They moved into a smaller, yet calmer town called Ponyville.
The place where I was born.
Every pony there was much kinder to my family. No one kept their distance from them or ignored them. They were very welcoming and even threw a small party for their welcome, but sadly my parents and Max couldn’t stay at the party for too long. Max was getting weaker and weaker.
Mayor Mare saw the situation and quickly took Max, along with our parents, to the nearest hospital. They may not have the cure for my brother’s condition, but they do have a small medicine to slow down the illness. Helping Max regain a little bit of strength. Our parents were thankful for the Mayor’s action as they believed that she saved his life, but she quickly brushed that off and said that it was nothing. She’s just happy that Max is getting better.
While Mother looked after Max, Father went out to search for us to live. It was a little pricey house, but he tried his best to look around. Even the ponies around the town were so helpful in showing him specific spots where ponies can live. But the cheapest area to live in was an abandoned house near the Everfree Forest. The place where no pony goes near because of its dangerous creatures that lurk in the forest, a creature called the Timber Wolves.
Kinda odd how everypony warned us about the dangers of that forest. I say that because the Timber Wolves never got near our house, which Mother was thankful that they've never done.
Because the Timber Wolves never get near the house, he allows Father to rebuild the house. Filling up small cracks that were up on the ceilings and walls and placing up beautiful windows; even some ponies helped Father by giving away their furniture that they didn't need anymore. And just like that, our new home was perfect.
But while Father was fixing our soon-to-be home, Max and Mother stayed at the hospital. Once Max regained his strength, the doctors then explained about my brother's rare disease.
The disease that my brother contained was a rare condition that had not been shown for over 500 years. But one day, a special little pony did find the cure but mysteriously disappeared without a trace. And no pony could ever find her notes on how to make this cure.
But, there is a rumor that a special plant called “la planta de vida,” a rare flower hidden in this world. With that special plant, it can create a small medicine that can cure any disease. And I mean, any disease. Sadly, no pony knows where this flower hid, but there is a rumor that a different creature who lives in Equestria knew where it was. But, it's a “pricey request.” No pony bothered to pay the creature, except for our parents.
Now they work both day and night, saving up every bit that they can to find this mysterious creature.
I've lost my childhood because of this. I've never gone to school, hardly go out of the house because I had to look after my brother, and never had the time to make friends. But I'm being too harsh on Max, but I was angry. I wanted to do more than just look after him. I wanted to go out there and earn money along with our parents, and maybe help them save enough bits for my brother.
Our parents forbid that, but that is going to change. I'm gonna change all of this and help my brother.
Just not so sure where to start.
