"Do you really want to do this, Twi?" asked Spike as he jumped out of the train next to the unicorn mare and looked up at her.
"Yes and no" the mare began to walk towards the exit of Canterlot train station. Her eyes carefully watching her surroundings to see if anyone is following them. "I wish there was another way, but there isn't right now and he has answers for us!" She watched as Celestial guards changed shifts with a group of Lunar guards, as the sun slowly set.
"Unfortunately you're right" the dragon sighed. "How are we actually going to find him? Canterlot is huge!" the dragon raised an eyebrow in question. "Or do we knock on every door until we stumble upon him?".
"No. Shiny once told me that there are only a few branches of the Royal Guard that are not required to live in the barracks at the castle. Including the military police, to which Captian Night Wing belongs and as captain he was given a house near the castle". The mare stopped outside the train station and looked around briefly and walked towards the castle of the Royal Sisters.
"And if we find his house, what do we do?" Spike tried to stay on the same level as the energetic mare. "Wait until he comes home?".
"I'll pick his door lock and we'll let ourselves in and look for information's, preferably we'll be out again before he gets home," the mare quickened her steps. "He's a Bat-Pony and is part of the Lunar Guard, so his shift ends when the sun comes up".
"This can only go wrong..." Spike sighed to himself.
It had taken them a while to find the right house and make sure that no one was inside and no one was watching them as they entered the house.
"I didn’t sense any magical alarm systems, we should be safe" Twilight looked around the large living area with an open kitchen. "You go to the upper floor and I'll look around here, we'll be out of here in a maximum of three hours, understand?" She looked down at the dragon, who saluted her and moved towards the stairs.
It was only an hour before Twilight stood in the kitchen, sighing. "I can't find anything, I'd better go upstairs and help Spike" just as she was about to run to the stairs she heard someone unlock the front door "Shit!" she cursed to herself as she leaned against the wall to the short Entrance hallway and pulled out her pistol with her magic.
She could hear the newcomer carefully closing the door and slowly walking into the living room. At first she only saw a revolver, held in a whitish magic that definitely came from a magic stone. Next she saw the muzzle of a Bat-pony.
When the stallion's head was at the same height as the mares, she pressed the barrel of her pistol against the stallion's head, which made him stop. "Drop it and the magic stone too!" she said calmly and the stallion, knowing better, followed her instructions and put the revolver on the ground and pulled the band with the stone off his hoof and threw it to the weapon.
Twilight slowly backed away from the wall and kicked the weapon and stone deeper into the living room, eyeing the stallion. He wore a dark blue formal uniform, which all high-ranking Lunar guards wore when they were not forced to wear their armor. She could see the Military Police badge and his rank on his collar.
"Captain Night Wing, I assume?" She asked the stallion and let her pistol hover closer to her. What is he doing here so early! She thought briefly in a panic.
"Since you know who I am, could I please know who you are and why you broke into my house?!" he snorted annoyed and looked Twilight directly in the eyes.
A little intimidated by the stallion, who didn't seem to be impressed that someone was pointing a gun at him, Twilight had to swallow. "I... I am a concerned citizen of the kingdom and would like to find out why you falsified the report about the death of the Sparkle family!" she said, stuttering a bit.
The stallion was a little unnerved by the purpose of her presence, but he quickly recovered himself. "Ah, that's why you're here? Quite simply, it was good business!" he said arrogantly and confidently.
"B... Business?..." Twilight snorted, shocked. Something's wrong here! "What kind of business!?" she got a little louder but didn't yell at him.
“A messenger offered me and my team lots of bits to change the report and we gratefully accepted,” he laughed.
Something is really wrong here! The thought flew through her head in panic. "Why... why are you telling me this? And don’t lie?!" the mare became more paranoid and started to sweat slightly.
"Quite simply, you won't shoot at me, I can see that you don't have the nerve to do it!" his face twisted into a malicious smile and he took a step towards the mare. "And no matter where you run, we will find you. "Attacking a Captain of the Royal Guard in his own home?, no one will believe you what I'm telling you and when we get you, you'll either be banished from Equestria or executed!" he laughed as he saw the mare started to tremble. "Is the pistol even real?" he made fun of the mare.
"Twilight?" Spike called down the stairs, drawing attention from the mare to the dragon.
His chance in front of him, the stallion jumped towards the mare, his aim was to knock the pistol away and knock the mare out, but he had underestimated the mare's reaction time.
Noticing the stallion's sudden movement, Twilight turned back to him, everything seemed to be in slow motion, a thousand thoughts racing through her head but they all came to the same solution.
Her ears ringed and her vision blurred as the gunpowder in the cartridge ignited as she subconsciously pulled the trigger.
"Twi...Twili...TWILIGHT!" She noticed someone shaking her, her vision slowly became clearer again and the ringing in her ears became quieter. She looked down at the little dragon, who was shaking her and looking at her in worry and panic. Her gaze went to the pistol that she was still holding in her magic, the barrel of the pistol still gave off a light trail of smoke, the next target of her gaze was the stallion's body. Who was now lying on the floor in a growing puddle of his own blood, coming from a hole in his head.
"Twilight!" the dragon drew her attention from the dead captain. “We have to get out of here, NOW!” he pulled the mare to the back door of the kitchen.
Once she regained her senses, she put the pistol in her holster and used her magic to lift the dragon onto her back and ran out the back door into the night.

Chapter 1
"It's such tragedy," sighed the unicorn mare as she placed her newspaper down on the table and took her coffee mug and drank from it as she looked sadly at the headline.
"I know, Rarity, it is a tragedy that Rainbow Dash can't accept that she lost!" an orange earth mare, dressed with a cowboy head, answered her, as she looked challengingly at a blue Pegasus mare with rainbow hair, who just crossed her hooves together in annoyance.
"What?. No Applejack!, I'm talking about what happened to the Sparkle family!" tapped Rarity at the newspaper in front of her. "Two months ago, the entire Sparkle family died in a house explosion!" the mare sighed again and leaned back in her seat. "They have finally found out why it happened. Apparently there was a gas leak under the Canterlot estate, which ignited!”.
"Sparkle.. Sparkle.." tapped Applejack at her chin thoughtfully. "I'm not really into politics, who was Sparkle again?" She asked somewhat embarrassed, which drew surprised eyes from her friends towards her.
"Really?, even Dash knows this family!" said Rarity a little annoyed, to which the mentioned Pegasus mare just nodded. “All right, The Sparkle family is one of the oldest noble families in all of Equestria!, next to the royal family of course. Since their founding, the Sparkle family has been loyal to the royal family and the country and if I can say so, they were one of the few families that really valued the people!”.
"Now I remember!. The Sparkle family once helped out my family! But that was a very long time ago, there was even Granny young!” the farm pony laughed slightly and then looked at the newspaper. "It's really a shame, we Apples never forget and we did never repay our gratitude to them," she also sighed slightly, "really a shame."
The three mares looked down at the newspaper with different emotions. Rarity with disappointment and sadness over the death of the family. Applejack with remorse that she was never able to repay her family's debt and anger at how a family was so brutally torn from life. Rainbow Dash had a neutral face. Although she had heard a lot about the noble family of House Sparkle, she never had any connections to them.
Before any of the mares could say anything, the door to Rarity's living room burst open and two ponies came walking in, a yellow Pegasus mare with a light pink mane and tail and a light pink earth mare with a pink mane and tail, well one mare came walking in and the other one moved forward in leaps and bounds. "Hello girls, sorry for the delay, I had a lot to do in the Bakery and Fluttershy had a little trouble with her animals but nothing too wild!" the earth mare jumped up once and landed on the sofa next to Applejack and started eating a muffin that she conjured up from her mane.
"That's no problem Pinkie Pie" smiled Rarity at her and took another sip of her coffee and then turned to the Pegasus mare, who was still standing. "Come on, darling, you can sit down next to me," tapped Rarity on the free seat next to her, which the Pegasus mare accepted with a shy “thanks, Rarity”.
For a few minutes it was quiet between the five ponies, but it wasn't an unpleasant silence but a pleasant silence, you could only hear the sipping of tea and coffee or the eating of baked goods and the ticking of the clock on the wall. The silence was interrupted by Pinkie when she remembered that she wanted to ask her friends something. "Hey girls, have you heard?" She asked the group, which only threw confused and questioning looks at the mare.
"The thing with the Sparkle family?" asked Rainbow Dash, pointing to the newspaper.
"What?" Pinkie Pie asked confused and read the headline of the newspaper. "Oh.." she uttered a little sadly. “Um, no, that’s not what I meant,” she looked up and looked around excitedly from one pony to the next. “No, I mean, have you heard, someone new has moved to Ponyville!” She jumped up and down on the sofa excitedly.
"Someone new?" asked Rarity in surprise. "I thought we didn't have any free houses left?"she asked and tapped her jaw thoughtfully.
"Isn't there a little property just outside of Ponyville, in the direction of Applejack's farm. Whose owner died a few years ago and has been empty since then?" asked Rainbow Dash, what caused that surprised looks where pointed at her, and even Pinkie Pie stopped in the air in shock and looked at the Pegasus mare. "What?!" crossed Rainbow her hooves together in annoyance. "I thought about buying it at the time but it was way too expensive!" she sight. "I think it was something with two million bits."
"So whoever moved to our little town must have a lot of money," hummed Applejack. "So, Pinkie, how do you know that someone new has moved here?" Applejack turned her head to the still floating mare, who unfreezes herself and ended up sitting on the sofa.
"When I was working I saw a pony that i didn't know, through the window and was like "uhh a new face here in Ponyville, I have to welcome her!" but then I remembered that I was at work and the cakes don’t like it when I suddenly disappear while I’m working!” the mare took another bite out of a new muffin at the end of her story.
"That sounds logical to me," Fluttershy said quietly but everyone could still hear her. "Um, Pinkie, if you don't mind, could you describe to us what the new pony looks like?, of course only if you want to?!” she uttered shyly.
"Of course Silly!" Pinkie laughed slightly. "She is a unicorn mare with purple fur, a bluish mane with pink and purple streaks. She had a serious expression on her face, one that made other ponies avoid her! Ohh and she wore a black suit with a black tie!. And her cutie mark is a big star surrounded by five smaller stars!” the mare listed happily. "We should go to her and welcome her and make her our friend!".
"I have nothing planned and a new face is always welcome on our farm, I would be down for it," shrugged Applejack her shoulder and looked around. Rarity and Fluttershy nodded in agreement, only Rainbow Dash groaned in annoyance.
The unicorn mare slowly leafed through a file, focused on locating all the important details, which is difficult when you don't really know what you're looking for. The mare was interrupted in her search when there was suddenly a knock on her door, slightly startled she looked through the living room in the direction of the wooden entrance gate Spike?..., no, he has a key and won't come back until tomorrow... so who... she was interrupted in her thoughts when there was another knock and she could now hear voices. Her gaze turned away from the door and turned to her table, on which several files were scattered, but the most noticeable thing was a pistol a Colt M1911, that was also lying there.
"Let's see who that is" the mare got up from her leather chair and used her magic to pick up the pistol and loaded it.
She carefully and slowly walked towards the door until she finally reached it and heard even more voices. Four?… no, five ponies! She looked through the peephole, the gun next to her. "This is private property! I hope you have a good reason for being here!" she shouted through the door, knowing that the ponies on the other side heard her.
The group of ponies jumped at the sudden and slightly hostile exclamation from the mansion. After a few seconds, a mare with a mane that could be made out of cotton candy, walked towards the door and smiled. "Hello!, my name is Pinkie Pie and these are, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy and Rarity," she gradually pointed to the ponies as she introduced them. "We came by to welcome our newest neighbor to Ponyville!" She started jumping up and down slightly.
For a few seconds there was no response from the property. "It's only you five ponies out there, right?" the mare asked and saw everyone nodding in the affirmative and received a "Yes, just the five of us!" from the energetic pink earth mare.
She hesitantly unlocked the door and opened it slightly so that she could fit through and took a few steps towards the mares, but only so that the front half of her body was facing them and the other half was in the door frame, so that the unannounced guests couldn't go into the house or look inside, she still kept her pistol hidden behind the door, ready to use if necessary.
“Hello, darling” greeted Rarity the mare, who looked at her and her friends attentively. The others did the same and also welcomed the new mare again. “And you are?” asked Rarity the unicorn mare curiously.
"Ohh, sorry, where are my manners?" the mare smiled at the pony in front of her. "I am, Twilight Sp.." the mare interrupted herself and cleared her throat once. ,,Excuse me. "I am, Twilight, Twilight Moonlight."
