Interwoven Lies
The shining of the sacred Light
Load Full StoryPROLOGUE.
It burned her eyes.
Images of fire danced across her vision, burning the only thing in her pathetic existence that she sought any sort of approval of. It all felt so real, flames growing taller enough to feel it, engulfing the castle she once thought of as ‘home’. And yet, she laughed. Sunset Shimmer laughed at the torment and damages that were being caused by the rage of Tartarus that she summoned. It made her feel sick with guilt. Almost as if the body that was given to her upon entering the portal acted to its own accord.
Do you see it? This entire situation would have been reality if you were not stopped. This would have been your doing, and you would have not thought to stop.
“No... No, no, no I... I never wanted this. I… I just wanted for her to. To…”
To what? See you as her own? See you as worthy of a parent? Please, spare me another one of your lies. You wanted revenge for her not seeing you as some pony worthy of being ascended to greater heights.
Sunset Shimmer fell to her knees in defeat, looking at the demonic claws that were her ~~hooves~~ hands. Tears fell rapidly down her cheeks, dampening the collar of her shirt. What have I done? She let out a sob, clenching her fists and gritting her teeth. The weight of the decisions made crashed down on her, she is so stupid.
The Guardian watched silently at the display, taking in the dilemma They were now faced with. Was Sunset Shimmer worthy of being saved or should be rid from the world. Given the many sins she has made, it should be obvious. But watching the future with and without her, it seems to improve with her in it. It's not a situation They have been faced with in the past aeon. They had to ask The Council on their opinion.
Closing Their eyes, the being left, leaving Sunset on the floor. She bit her lip and looked back up at the scene. The 'demon' that was supposedly her began brutally slaughtering ponies at a whim with the army it's created. Blood was sprayed, organs were thrown, necks were severed. She felt sick.
I'm probably going to die here. What else am I worth for now.She shut her eyes tightly. The teenager went into a foetal position, leaning on something behind her.
She paused.
There weren't any walls when I came here.
Sunset turned around to be met by a wall of dirt, specs falling steadily. Turquoise eyes turned around, although dizzy she could see dirt enveloping her. Whispers filled her ears. A crater. She's in a crater. The girl coughed loudly with a wince, falling forwards onto her hands. They couldn't support her weight, collapsing onto to the mud below. Sunset staggered, willing herself to stand up.
It didn't work. Her arms just couldn't lift her weight.
"Sunset Shimmer." A voice pierced her, leaving her frozen on the ground
"You will never rule over Equestria. Any power or influence you may have had in this world is gone. Tonight, you've shown everyone who you really are, you've shown them what is in your heart - darkness and destruction."
"I-" She looked up defeatedly. "I-I'm sorry...I'm so sorry. I..I.. I never knew there was a different way..." Her eyes watered again, tears stinging her right eye. I probably just fell on it.
"All I've ever done is drive everyone apart. I don't know the first thing about changing.."
"Maybe they could help you." An arm was outreached towards her, a kind yet forced smile plastered on the Princess' face. Sunset reached out for it, hesitating, looking for signs of hostility. Eventually, she accepted it, grateful to be pulled out of the hole she created. "Hopefully you will have a good life here without more problems."
Once out, the unicorn looked cautiously at the other girls. They glared daggers back at her. Pfft. What did I expect? A warm hug and forgiveness. Really? Although, two of them weren't - ~~The cryba-~~ Fluttershy hid behind Rarity and the party one kicked a rock, her hair almost deflated-looking.
Silence.
"Alright everyone, go home now, party's over. Except for you Sunset Shimmer." Principal Celestia wafted her arms to encourage students to leave, striding over to the group.
"Um, Prince-" Cough. "Principal Celestia? May I talk with you before anything?" Princess Twilight stopped her, a sincere smile on her face this time.
Another pause.
Sigh. "Alright then, lets go to my office."
"Perfect."
"Okay then, all of you girls can go now, yes including you Sunset Shimmer. Off you go, c'mon." The woman waved them off again, turning to talk with the Princess.
Sunset turned around on her heel, eager to get to her apartment and clean this dirt off as well as sleep - who knew turning into a demon planning to conquer two worlds took a lot of energy? - but she was interrupted by a yank on her sleeve. The girl turned around again, met by the athlete.
"Oi, demon-bitch. You have explaining to do, don't think you can just fucking leave after all that shit." Rainbow Dash sneered, right next to her face.
"Can we do this tomorrow? I'm not in the mood and I'll probably cause more trouble being tired anyways." Sunset attempted to seem as non-threatening as possible, instead coming off as snappy and hostile. Fluttershy whimpered and hid away again, Rarity flinching to guard her timid friend.
The unicorn let out and exasperated sigh. "Okay look, I'm sorry, and I know that doesn't mean anything but I just really need to sleep. Doing all that takes a lot."
"She's raight RD, just le' the girl leave." A cowgirl girl replied, crossing her arms over her chest.
They all left, not before Rainbow Dash warned her to not do any 'shady shit' on the way home. As if I'd do drugs. They all went different ways a part from Rarity and Applejack who went into the farmers van. After they left, Sunset shouted in anger, sprinting back as tears fell down.
Unlocking the door, the unicorn threw her belongings and rushed to her bathroom. She looked into her bathroom mirror, rinsing her face of the dirt and tears from tonight, looking back up with eyes closed and sighing. Upon opening them, she was stunned.
"What in Celestia's name."
Three long scars ran down her right eye, fangs slightly protruding from her open mouth. Fire-like scars ran along her hands and forearms. She paused.
"I..I never heard of permanent marks after transforming..." Sunset gently traced along the scars on her eye, the skin feeling raw and sensitive but not bleeding.
"I should go back to Equestria one day an re-"
Wait.
"Hopefully you will have a good life here without more problems."
"Have I been... exiled... from Equestria?"
Sunset flopped in bed after drying herself. A green fire appeared above her, a letter from Twilight. The exiled (?) unicorn tore it open and read it through.
Dear Sunset Shimmer,
I hope this gets you well. I have news regarding your situation.
While I was speaking to Principal Celestia, I have told her your situation of being a unicorn now human and she explained that this news 'changed the game'. She has told me that you on any other occasion would be excluded from attending CHS, but now she said she will reconsider your consequences if you stay. But you have to stay after school on Monday starting next week and serve detention indefinitely and work in Vice-Principal Luna's office during school hours. Plus apologizing to everyone during next weeks assembly.
I have a personal addition to rules you have to comply to as well. Consider using that book that Princess Celestia said you used to talk to her with to communicate with me if needed. I am your friend. Any other situations with you will be dealt seriously, as I will have to, to keep both worlds safe and as separate as possible from now on, drag you down to Tartarus for how hostile and abusive you have been to people and ponies around you. Consider this a second chance of sorts.
The girls will help you. I trust that. But redemption will only work if you put in the effort, I've seen it happen with my own students.
Signed: Princess Twilight.
So her suspicions were confirmed and questions answered: she has been exiled; this is a second chance; she knows about the book; she isn't 100% confirmed to getting expelled but the consequences will be dire.
"I..I mean I could p..pay for the damages.. Joseph has all my money sorted and I still have to extra bits to transfer to human currency. But.. I feel like it'd be a bit weird for a 'teenage girl' to be able to pay around... maybe a thousand in damages..?"
Sunset groaned, falling back onto her bed with a thud.
You really messed up this time bent-horn.
