A Lot Longer Than Seven Minutes
Twilight Sparkle stared into the water in her red plastic cup before looking up around her. It was yet another night at one of Pinkie Pie’s special parties where she invited everypony in Ponyville to have fun in her super awesome basement. It was a lot older than Mrs. Cake had claimed it was, Twilight knew that much. She’d studied much of the structure and material of the building when she was high, and she knew the part about it being a bunker was a lie. It had lower levels, though those were not accessible to the public. Sometimes she could swear she’d heard loud banging coming from below just barely over the sound of the music. Twilight decided not to investigate it further for her own sanity.

Spike, however, became extremely depressed and wouldn’t leave his room for weeks after Rarity had initially brought Shiny by. He was in his room or in the castle more often than he was outside. Twilight started to become concerned that Spike was going to be unable to truly move on from the situation. Thankfully, something happened. Twilight wasn’t sure what it was but at some point, Spike managed to move on. He also noticeably became a completely different drake. It was probably her attraction to him that was getting in the way of her knowing that.
Twilight examined Spike from across the room. He was attractive, as always, but today, it seemed even more so. She wasn’t sure what it was, maybe his scales were shinier, maybe his laugh was jollier. She drank down the last of her water, crumpled up her cup and tossed it into the nearest overflowing trash can. It bounced off the garbage and hit the floor. She carefully levitated the crumpled cup off the floor and neatly stacked it on top of the garbage.
Twilight opted to stay sober for the night for no reason besides the fact that she didn’t feel like getting drunk again. Well, that wasn’t quite right. She felt she might break down into tears if she let herself drunk. She’d heard Spike had been regularly seeing some mares. Maybe some of them were in the crowd that was with him.
She heard this through the gossip mill, which boiled down to Rarity, naturally. She asked Spike about it, and he’d denied it but there was no doubt that something was going on. It was probably time for Twilight to just accept that it wasn’t going to work out. He never saw her as anything besides his best friend and there was never going to be anything between them. She stared longingly at him for a little while longer before turning towards the nearest punch bowl. Maybe she should drink after all. Hopefully, she wouldn’t end up in tears like she usually did when she was alone by herself at home.
Pinkie Pie was standing behind her when she turned around causing her to jump slightly.
“P-Pinkie!” Twilight stammered. “What-”
Pinkie, whose pupils were larger than a dinner plate, brought a hoof to Twilight’s lips, silencing her.
“I was watching you.” Pinkie said quietly. She didn’t even blink as she stared Twilight down. “I was watching you watch Spike.”
“I was just making sure he was having a good time,” Twilight replied simply. She never openly admitted that she was interested in Spike to any of her friends because she hadn’t felt ready to. It would be awkward to admit, especially since it was well known that he had been in love with Rarity. They would all give her looks of pity. She didn’t need them to.
“I’ve been watching you watch him every night you two have been here.” Pinkie said in a quiet voice. She usually wasn’t ever this quiet.
“I’m just making sure he’s doing alright,” Twilight lied. She glanced behind Pinkie at the punch bowl. Berry Punch was refilling it. She always made the best drinks. Twilight wanted to get in on it before it ran out again. Twilight looked back at Pinkie. It felt like she’d hadn’t blinked the entire time they’d been standing there.
“Twilight, would you like to play a game?” Pinkie calmly asked, despite usually not being this calm at these events. Pinkie was always sort of everywhere so the fact that she was this calm now was weird. Weirder than Pinkie’s usual weird.
“What sort of game?” Twilight asked.
“It’s called Seven Minutes in Heaven,” Pinkie replied.
“I’ve never heard of that one,” Twilight said. Now she was intrigued. “What does it involve?”
“Well, you and another random pony go into a dark closet and then you quietly make out. You can also do other things. But you only get seven minutes.”
Twilight paused. She wasn’t sure that she was interested in going to town on any random pony. Or having anypony else go crazy on her. She glanced back towards the crowd of mares. Spike was noticeably missing along with a few mares. Twilight’s heart dropped into her stomach. She figured that she wasn’t about to get with Spike either. Maybe doing this would make her feel better.
“I’ll play,” Twilight agreed. Pinkie grinned.
“You’ll love it, Twilight. Let me show you where you’ll be playing,” Pinkie said and took off, bouncing through a crowd of ponies. Twilight followed her out of the music-filled room and down the long hallway.
Along the sides of the walls were various ponies either chilling or twitching from the drug fueled euphoria they were probably experiencing. Finally, Pinkie stopped in front of a door that seemed just the same as all the other cement doors in the incredibly long cement hallway covered in party streamers and confetti. They had to have been close to the Everfree Forest now with how far they walked and yet the hallway seemed to stretch on even further down. Twilight stared down the hallway. She could not see due to the hallway taking a sharp right at the end of it.
The door had the number 023 on it.
“It’s not much of a closet but there is a room here,” Pinkie said, tapping the door. It opened slightly, revealing inky darkness within. “Your stallion awaits. Have fun!” Then quite literally she cartwheeled away.
Twilight stared into the inky black darkness of the room for a moment. Was she really about to do something like this? She looked behind her and watched one of the mares that Spike was talking to before go into another dark room across from her and shut the door.
