DENIAL 2: I guess this is happening
Darkness.
Darkness is the only thing I see for miles.
Am I... Dead? If I am... Why can I still see?
I look down to my hooves and see nothing, I try to look at my flank but I see nothing. I tried to grab my mane and I felt,
Nothing.
I started to walk aimlessly, slowly at first, then I started to canter, and finally I galloped.
I didn't want to die! After all of my hardships, I die by way of wooden wolves? That isn't fair! I wanted to die honorably, or as honorably as I can anyways. I wanted friends, I wanted to learn, I wanted to love.
And it was all taken away from me twice. Once by them, now by wolves. I hated it, I despised it. While the others sat around doing nothing, I learned how to use magic. While the others cried and pleaded, I was silent and unmoving. While others smiled and made friends, I grimaced and pushed people away.
Why? WHY?
I DID EVERYTHING THEY ASKED FOR AND WHAT DID THEY AWARD ME WITH?
Nothing.
I stopped in my tracks as I looked at the object Infront of me. It was a green orb like object. The mere sight of it gave me hope.
I slowly walked over to the object. The green orb seemed to cower away from me, I couldn't blame it, if someone did what I did and approached me, I would cower away too.
The orb suddenly stopped moving away from me and just hovered there, motionless. The closer I got, the more energized I seemingly got. I inched closer and closer until my muzzle touched the orb. The moment I touched it, I felt a surge of energy course it's way around me.
I looked on with confusion as the energy glowed around me and reformed my body. My legs, my barrel, my face, my flank, everything started to materialize right infront of me. My confusion grew more and more as I felt the walls of darkness close in, almost crushing me. However, I was oddly calm. It felt like the more my senses returned, the calmer I got.
My sense of touch, my hearing, my sense of smell, sense of taste, my eyesight, all of them returned. As they returned I slowly realized where I was, I was in a wolf.
I looked at my hooves again, this time I only saw a mangled set hooves, bits and pieces scattered around my cramp enclosure. I tried to touch my face but to no avail, as I only felt bone and blood. I looked at my flank and saw my spine strewn, my back legs seemingly gone.
It seems like I got mauled, but that wasn't possible, if I got mauled I would be dead right now! But, maybe I was? I tried to move and thankfully did. As I did however I felt the wolf shake and cough uncontrollably. I tried to move some more and the wolf fell and I felt it convulse on the ground. Finally, I decided to kick the walls that were trapping me and I heard a whimper. I kicked it again, and again, and again. My barely recognizable front hooves ached and pleaded with me to stop, but I didn't. I kept kicking- punching? - kicking and kicking and I felt the wolf cough up blood.
Then an idea came to mind, what if I use magic inside here?
Insane idea right? But since my hooves were in this state, the only option was lighting up my horn and give magic a try.
And so I did.
Princess Celestia was on a mission to investigate the massive tremor that happened in the Everfree, Princess Cadence joined along, requesting to accompany her auntie in case of something dangerous lurking in the woods. Celestia happily obliged, though being thoroughly confused as why Cadence needed to use that excuse of all things, Cadence only replied with a pout and nothing more.
As they walk through the Everfree with a battalion of guards protecting them from every direction, they cautiously looked around them as both felt a huge magic surge in the horizon. All guards suddenly formed a circle around the both princesses and casted a multi layer shield, said shield cracked soon after only leaving one fully intact layer. After a few moments most of the guards either passed out or was vomiting on the ground from the immense strain on their body. Princess Cadence suddenly ran off to the direction of the surge and Celestia followed soon after.
Both knew what the only cause of the magic surge was, but only Celestia knew the true danger.
She was back.
She couldn't believe it, but it's the only explanation. She was the only one that was powerful enough to blast a hole through dimensions and cause a tremor so large it spanned all of Equestria ten fold.
Celestia once tried to use the elements on her, but to no avail. The elements deemed her to be "good". Celestia couldn't fathom how her all of ponies would be on the side of good, well that's what she thought until that night.
She still doesn't know why she did it, the worse enemy of Celestia, giving her life to save-
She stopped that train of thought when she felt a nagging feeling deep down on her stomach, something was wrong. She heard multiple growls in the distance followed with whimpers soon after. She needed to hurry.
Smoke filled my lungs, or atleast what's left of them anyways. I used my magic recklessly and melted the wolf I was inside in, it's wooden parts still burning into my mangled hooves. I used gravitational magic on myself as soon as I saw multiple wolves jump at me, swiftly leaping in the air I charged up multiple runes and blasted three wolves, all melting shortly after the blast.
"How am I doing this holy!" I exclaimed.
As I floated above the wolf pack I soon realized that some were all running away from me in fear. I quickly casted a shield and stopped their retreat. I slowly floated down to the ground and looked around once more, the pack was now circling around me waiting to pounce, unfortunately for them I was high on adrenaline and made the stupid decision of using teleportation magic to appear infront of them and punched- kicked one wolf on the snout using gravitational magic to enhance the punch. Time froze as my punch connected to the wide eyed wolf, in a fraction of the second it's body cracked open and burned into flames at the same time, flinging the remains to the shield, only leaving a green orb in it's wake.
"COME ONE YOU DAMN TREE'S! IS THAT ALL YOU'VE GOT?" I shouted flailing my hind legs above while levitating off the ground (I didn't have back legs to stand on okay and I always wanted to do that pose).
One wolf pounced at my back but was easily swatted away by a protruding tentacle, completely eviscerating the poor wolf. The entire pack decided to rush me at that very moment, seemingly as a last attempt to subdue me. Sadly for them it was in vain as multiple tentacles pierced the skulls of the wolves and they slowly melted from my magic that was emanating immense heat. All but one survived the commotion and I decided to humor the wolf and turned off the runes that seemingly appeared throughout my body while I was fighting. The wolf took that moment to leap towards me but I swiftly ducked and kicked it's belly when it passed over me, it flew high in the sky as my kick connected. I looked on in amazement as the wolf seemingly froze in the air above me.
"Oh I need to do something cool, I can't pass this perfect chance up!" I said with excitement flowing through my voice, "Hold on one second."
I kicked the ground with my mangled front hooves and multiple large runes suddenly appeared out of thin air, emitting a strange blue glow and seemingly made the surrounding darker.
"HOCUS POCUS!" I shouted and the runes started to glow brightly as a beam of energy engulfed me and the wolf above, completely and utterly disintegrating the wolf down to atoms.
I was COMPLETELY ECSTATIC! WHO WOULDN'T BE WHEN YOU JUST DID AN ANIME MOVE? I jumped in joy but stopped as I realize that I still don't have my back legs and my spine was still dangling down from my front half, yuck.
I decided to just fain ignorance to my current condition and looked around the scarred landscape around me, the shield now slowly dissipating. Multiple green orbs hovered above the ground, there were 16 in total. I don't know why but upon seeing the orbs my mouth started to water and my stomach decided to grumble at that moment.
Shrugging, I levitated one orb and chomped down. It tasted sweet with a tinge of sour throughout it, MY FAVORITE! I quickly gulped down the piece I ate and got another bite of the orb, completely eating the whole thing in tow bites. The mixture of flavors danced around my mouth as I levitated the rest closer to me and started to greedily chomp down on all of them. A perfect snack after a fight.
After an embarrassing couple of minutes, I completely chewed the last piece and laid down on the hard charred ground. I was completely full and I think I was having a food coma, I drifted in and out fo consciousness as I heard a gasp not far from me and the sensation of a pair of hooves lifting me off the ground and cradling me against a soft coat, the last thing I saw was a pink pony wearing a crown, a concerned look on her face as I finally went to sleep.
Princess Cadence quickened her pace as she heard the sounds of whimpering and sounds of magic being used relentlessly. After what felt like centuries she finally came across a clearing and saw an unbelievable sight.
A impenetrable shield laid in her path, a shield that looked so complex yet so simple, a shield that looked so frail yet felt empowering.
She shook her head as she tried to look into the shield, her eyes suddenly closed shut as a timberwolf was thrown in her direction, the wolf being completely disintegrated the moment it touched the shield.
She opened her eyes again and saw a body of a mangled filly on the ground, crying a waterfall of tears and seemingly whimpering. The filly was mangled beyond belief, her front legs were completely detached from her body, half of her face was bitten off and her flank area was seemingly missing, her spine dangling not connected to anything.
The sight almost made Cadence puke out her intestines, but she held it in as she thought of something else.
'Why was this little filly here? In this condition no less.'
She put her hoof on the shield as she observed the filly. The filly was seemingly shouting to the air,
"COME AND GET ME YOU FUCKING PIECES OF WOOD!" A set of manic laughter soon followed as a wolf pounced at the filly.
"No!" Cadence shouted, only to be stopped as she saw a tentacle pierce the wolf and burned the poor animal to a puff of hot steam.
She saw the rest of the pack quickly pounce the filly, she closed her eyes to not see the gruesome sight. After a few moments she heard a light sizzling as she opened her eyes. Most of the wolves were completely eviscerated, only one was left. The last remaining wolf pounced at the filly, Cadence looked on with confusion as the filly ducked with strange precision and kicked the wolf into the air.
'Okay that doesn't even make sense, how can she duck?'
She shrugged the thought away as she saw the filly kicked the ground, multiple large runes appearing out of thin air around the filly,
"HOCUS POCUS!"
Cadence immediately felt the large spike of magical power and quickly casted as much shield spells as she can as a large pillar of light and magical energy descended from the sky with a loud 'CRACK!'.
The filly and the wolf were engulfed with the energy as cadence braced with all her might. The shield that was infront of her vanished as she felt the entire force of the explosion, flinging her a good 5 feet off the ground. She quickly used her wings to stop her momentum and watched on with concern as the ray of light continued to pummel both of the entities below.
"Cadenza!" Her auntie suddenly shouted from below her, the mere uttering of her 'true' name sent shivers down her spine as she glided down to her aunt, "What were you thinking? You could've gotten hurt!" Celestia said with concern and strictness.
"Im sorry auntie! I saw a filly fighting a pack of timberwolves and panicked!" Cadence explained.
The confusion on Celestia's face was evident, she looked towards the beam of energy behind Cadence and got closer.
The ray of light slowly dissipated as Celestia looked on with horror as she saw the mangled corpse of the fill on the ground, both her and Cadence almost puked at the sight of the corpse on the ground.
Both however looked on with an even more intense look of horror as the burned corpse started to move and gained its green coat in a matter of seconds. Multiple green orbs hovered around the filly, one was slowly levitating towards the filly.
She then comped down on the orb as both Celestia and Cadence looked on with a mix of horror and confusion. The filly seemingly squealed at the apparent taste of the orb and greedily munched on it, completely swallowing the orb in tow bites. The rest of the orbs rocketed towards the filly and she hastily chomped down on the rest.
Cadence tried to approach the foal but Celestia put a hoof out to stop her niece.
"Cadence, that thing is dangerous!" Her auntie suddenly said, shocking Cadence.
"Dangerous!? Its a foal Celestia!" Cadence quietly shouted at her auntie.
"It is no foal, Cadence."
"What?" Cadence asked.
"That... thing, Is an old, ancient creature, a powerful one too!" Celestia explained, "That creature almost killed me long ago, I used the elements to try and subdue it and it just shrugged it off Cadence!"
"But that's impossible auntie! Nothing can just shrug off the elements!" Cadence said with pure confusion in her voice.
"That's what I thought too! But the elements deemed it a force of good!"
"Then what's the problem auntie?"
"The problem is that it cannot be trusted. Okay?" Celestia hurriedly explained, a clear and palpable fear coursed it's way from her voice.
Before Cadence could argue back, a loud burb suddenly interrupted the both of them. They looked on as the "corpse" was now suddenly intact, it's hooves repaired, it's flank magically reformed and it's face seemingly back to normal. The filly then laid on the ground and exhaled a loud but satisfied sigh as it closed it's eyes.
Cadence galloped to the filly. Ignoring the warnings of her auntie, she then picked the filly up with her hooves and cradled the young one with concern. She looked as the filly wore an expression of delight and snored loudly as she slowly cradled her.
Celestia wore and expression of mild confusion that was swiftly replaced with a one with pure delight if she saw the embodiment of cuteness.
"See? She's not dangerous auntie," Cadence said with a smile on her face.
"I will take your word, only this once." Celestia replied while nudging the filly, the filly let out a pout and wiggled into a comfortable position against the coat of Cadence, Celestia let out a small squeal as the filly did this and and giggled, Cadence following suite not long after.
'It seems like this young one is in need of both mine and aunties help, and I will not disappoint and neither auntie.' She thought as she snuggled the little green filly and levitated her on her back, slowly trotting over to the band of guards that were panting and sweating all over.
'Seems like it's going to be a looooong day ahead of me.' she said with a smile on her face.
