Ruling over Equestria is a lot of work/Everypony has a breaking point
Everypony has a breaking point
Previous ChapterFluttershy, the kind hearted pony, could always see the good in people no matter who they were. She had made friends with the likes of Discord after all. There were very rare times that she ever let her anger show, especially in front of others. A pony could count on one hoof that amount of times it ever happened. But this day was going to be very different from any of those moments. A pony, or maybe more, had gone too far. Fluttershy hadn't bothered to deduce who. There was blood on someponies hooves, and they needed to pay!
~~~~~~~~~~
It all started on any normal day. Fluttershy was spending her day checking up on all of her animal friends.. Many of them had unfortunately fallen ill recently and, although it was a lot of work. Fluttershy didn't mind in the slightest. It was what she was good at, and in her nature to look after their wellbeing. She knew that, if the roles were reversed, they would do the same.
Over the next few days it had become a routine for the pony. Although this day was about to be very different, and very deadly. As Fluttershy went about to each of the animals homes, she found that not a single one of them were there. Even the animals families and friends who lived nearby were all missing. Fluttershy tried to remain optimistic. It was a beautiful day out, so it wasn't out of the ordinary for them to spend time roaming around outside.
That was until she passed by the Everfree Forest. Something smelt off, at least a little bit more than usual. On some windy days, if it blew in a certain direction, the awful stench from the swamps within would drift towards Ponyville. But this smell was different and unlike anything Fluttershy had ever smelt. A part of her wished to ignore it, with the possibility of it just being Zecora brewing up one of her potions to be the likely culprit. But her guts, and instincts, kept telling her something was horribly wrong about all of this, that needed to be checked out.
In this moment her curiosity won, and knowing that there was no time to waste, she shuffled her hooves and gulped. With what little courage that she could carry with her she trotted off into the Everfree Forest, and towards the awful smell.
At first it was hard to pinpoint exactly where the stench was coming from. But with each step she made into the forest the stronger the smell got. The worse it got, the easier it was to tell the direction of where the awful smell was coming from. It was becoming much more difficult to breath as she continued on, her eyes watering with every step that she took. As she put one hoof in front of the other Fluttershy was trying to fight the urge to vomit with how potenent it was becoming.
She froze for a few moments as come through to a brief clearing. Fluttershy had finally found the source of the smell. There was no holding back now as the pony hurled up the contents of her stomach. It took until she was nearly dry wrenching before she could pull herself together. As she wiped her mouth she noticed that tears had begun streaming down her cheeks. How could this happen? Why would any pony want to do such a cruel thing?
So many thoughts raced through her head as she stood there in shock and horror, unable to pull her eyes away from the corpses of her dearly beloved animals. All of them piled on top of one another, all mutilated almost beyond recognition. In this moment Fluttershy tasted something bitter, almost metallic like on her lips. As she went to try and wipe it off, thinking she hadn't gotten rid of the vomit, she looked down at her hoof. She had gotten rid of her vomit, but it had been replaced by the blood that now caked her hoof. Fluttershy hadn't noticed that she had been standing in a pool of blood, the very same blood that lead straight down to...
A hoarse scream was emitted from Fluttershy before she bolted away. She didn't care which direction she went in, as long as it was as far away from the clearing as possible! Galloping for as long as her hooves could carry her she could carry her, she tripped over a branch. The pony tried to get back up, but she was too exhausted to carry on. As she collapsed back onto the ground, and before she could fully catch her breath, the tears came back. There was no holding them back this time, nor did she want to anymore, as she allowed herself to begin sobbing.
By the time she had finally come back to her senses the moon was already high in the sky. Fluttershy had no more tears to shed as she picked herself up. Although this time the feelings of sadness and grief was now anger. Pure rage. The type that she, nor any pony, had witnessed before. None of those poor animals deserved what happened to them, and no pony was going to get away with it! Fluttershy was already plotting her revenge, not caring if any pony who got in the way was harmed in the process. There was soon to be much more bloodshed tonight, but this time on the streets of Ponyville.
