Author's Note

This is a sequel to Adventures are no fun. I am calling it Home is Where You Are Legally Required to Live. This story would not exist of it was not for ARandomCasualPerson. Their support and encouragement is the only reason I had the motivation to write this. Thank you.

Back To The Starting Line.

Screech flew around Luna's Home for Journeying Children. The small building was built in the shape of a crescent moon. It was mostly black. The A frame roof was a bright white that reflected moon light but not sunlight. She looked for dragons despite knowing none lived in Ponyville.

A few older pegasi sat on the roof and drank stolen beer. One threw an empty can at Screech.

The can bounced off Screeche's head. She suppressed the urge to pummel the pegasus and his cheering friends. She flew through her window and went to bed. She accepted the simple fact monsters deserve to suffer.

Screech sat in the cafeteria. She rubbed her eyes and tried to stay awake through breakfast. She had enough nightmares at night.

A pegasus landed on a large wooden rafter five ponies above the dining tables. He smiled warmly. "Nice to have you back two wings."

Screech hissed.

Wild Heart laughed. He brushed back his orange mane with his red hoof. His crooked teeth shined in the morning light. "How was Dodge?"

Screech glared at her her cold hey, warm oats and bruised apple. "Leave me alone."

Wild sat on the beam under the skylight. "Scoops is back too. Her family didn't like her either."

"The Berrys loved me!" Screech snapped.

Wild scoffed, "Then why are you back here?"

Screech bared her fangs. "I murdered them."

Wild laughed. "Right." He ate his apple in two bites. "Sorry about my friends. They were not throwing those cans at you. They were. They didn't know it was you."

Screech heard two ponies making a plan to get wild out of the rafters so they could beat him for taking their beer.

"No pony would be foolish enough to make you mad. Not one who liked breathing anyway."

A big white earth pony with a cutie mark of a boxing glove landed on the rafter. He took one look at Screech and jumped to the floor below. He landed with a thud. He screamed, "The monster is back!"

Wild smirked. "Told ya."

Six hours after she returned, Screech was welcomed home by having every pony run from the cafeteria screaming.

Screech sat in the front of her Old Ponish class. She sat in the front of every class. No pony wanted her behind them. Outside Luna's she was still a monster.

The school was older than Luna's but it was well maintained. Eighty percent of it had not collapsed. It was still a cube. The floors didn't creak. The windows were not drafty. The walls were not a white so dirty it looked grey some places and green others, because they were painted yellow every few years.

A pink pony with a brown and white mane sat beside Screech. Her cutie mark of a collection of dice surprised everypony. They all thought Double Scoop would have an ice cream related talent. "My name is Double Scoop." She smiled brightly. "My friends call me scoops."

"Nice to meet you Double," Screech said without looking at the filly.

"Scoops," Double corrected.

Screech sighed. "Who do you want me to scare away?"

Scoops laughed like she hard a joke. "No pony. I heard your new family sent you back."

Screech bared her fangs. "They didn't. I was taken away for violent behavior."

Scoops laughed again. "We are all violent. It is the one right orphans have." She laughed a third time.

Screech ignored the girl and buried her muzzle in her text book.

"My new family sent me back too." She laughed again. It started to sound like a cough. "I was a model child. After three months they caught me kissing a girl and sent me back."

Screech turned the page of her book.

Scoops placed her hoof on Screeche's. Her hoof was warm and gentle. "Have you ever kissed a girl?"

Screech remembered Seam. She shoved Scoops to the floor. "Don't touch me."

For a split second Scoops and Screech stared at each other like they were going to fight to the death.

Scoopse's face quickly changed to a look of sadness.

Screech sat on a stone bench in Platinum Park; an old jewel mine Princess Platinum gifted to a pack diamond dogs during her brief reign before Luna became princess. The light was dim enough Screech could see without her sunglasses.

"What are you drawing two wings?" asked Wild Hearts.

Screech ignored Wild and continued the letter she was writing to her mother.

Wild picked up one of Screeche's crayons and drew a clown on the otherwise dull grey wall of the cave.

"Don't draw on the walls!" yelled a teen aged unicorn in a park uniform.

"Bite me!" yelled Wild.

Not sure what else to do the unicorn left.

Wild continued drawing a family of clowns. "Didn't see you in Old Ponish today."

Screech sighed. "You know I got detention for shoving Double Scoop."

Wild nodded. "I do know." He picked up a pink crayon. "Think she likes you?"

Screech ignored Wild.

"I hear she is a slut."

"Are you saying only a slut could like me?" snapped Screech.

Wild nodded. "I am. You are a monster."

Screech snatched her crayon out of Wild's hoof.

Wild sighed and dropped onto the bench.

Screech watched the happy families around her playing in the park. She wrote she and the Berry family were enjoying their trip to the park. She told her mother she was doing everything she saw the happy young ponies doing. She told her mother an annoying boy was yelling at the park officials and refusing to leave.

Screech continued writing her letter. She sat on the old mattress she slept on in Luna's. She left Platinum Park for no one reason.

Wild and Ham Bone sat on the floor and played Liars Dice. They ignored Screech despite being in her room.

Scoops pushed past the two earth ponies who were waiting outside Screeche's room to beat her guests. She hopped onto the bed. Her head hit the floor.

Screech bared her fangs. "Get away from me!"

Scoop's got to her hooves and slapped Screech right across her muzzle.

Wild and Ham looked at the fillies. "Fight! Fight! Fight!" The colts chanted.

Screech turned her attention back to her letter. She didn't eject Scoops from her bed a second time.

"What is the slut doing here?" asked Ham Bone.

Wild shrugged. "Two wings, what is the slut doing here?"

Scoops spit at the colts. "I am not a slut."

"You are in bed with another girl," pointed out Ham.

Scoops horn glowed pink and Ham's cup of dice froze to the floor. "Screech," she said with a smile. "I am sorry I got you sent to detention." She showed no remorse for hitting Screech. "I wanted our relationship to get off to a better start." She moved closer to her.

"Sssslluuuuuuutttt!" Both colts yelled.

Scoops jumped off the bed. "What are you boys doing hiding in a girls room from a couple of bullies. I should kick your flanks myself." She tried to intimidate the boys.

The colts laughed. Scoops was the same age as them, two years older than Screech, and much smaller.

"What do you want with two wings?" questioned Ham.

Scoops sneered. "That is none of your business."

Wild nodded. "I don't care. Slut it up with the monster."

"Screech is not a monster."

Wiled cocked his head. "Two wings left through the window while you were yelling at us."

Scoops sighed.

"Why do you like the monster?" asked Ham.

Scoops shrugged. "She can't have much self confidence."

"Slut," accused Wild.

Scoop rolled her eyes. As she turned to leave she saw Screech sitting on her bed writing her letter.

Screech hoped the rest of her days in Luna's would not be as hectic and scattered as her first. She sat on her beam above the cafeteria and chewed hay.

"Hear about the latest addition to the bad kids wing?" asked Wild.

Screech ignored Wild and continued eating her breakfast.

"A diamond dog got sent to our side of the orphanage last night," continued wild. "He looked like he was bigger than you are. Must be nearly full grown." He bit his apple. "We have a bat pony, an umbrum and now a diamond dog. Soon the entire wing will be monsters. After you three kill all us normal ponies."

Bobo stormed into the cafeteria. The big black dog looked through the room with his little yellow eyes. His big pink nose twitched as he sucked all the air out of the room.

"Speak of Sombra and he will appear," said Wild.

In the front of the cafeteria sat a group of colts. They drank beers and ate hey cakes and doughnut they stole from the store down the street.

Bobo walked to the back of the cafeteria. He stole both apples from two fillies who were only in the bad kids wing because Gilded Lilly didn't like ponies with autism.

Screech bared her fangs. "I never did like dogs." She leapt off her beam and landed behind Bobo. "Give the apples back," she commanded.

Bobo laughed in Screeche's face. His hot breath smelled like blood. His black gums were bleeding. His crooked teeth on the edge of falling out. His parents were likely alive. It looked like he was taken away do to neglect.

Screech ignored the irony and bared her fangs. "Give the apples back." She winced at the high pitched cries of the fillies she was standing up for.

Bobo crammed both apples into his bleeding maw. He smiled and swung his big cracked claws at Screech. He only hit the air. Screech was just out of his range. He lunged forward and swung again. He missed by two hooves. He attacked a third time. His claws tore the flesh off the right side of Screeche's muzzle.

The kitchen workers watched from behind magic proof glass.

The cuts in Screeche's face healed before Bobo's eyes. She bared her magic fangs. "Apologize and get those fillies new apples or I will knock your rotting teeth out."

Bobo looked at his blood covered claws. "No. I can't hurt you but you can't hurt me either." A huge grin spread across his face.

Screech flared her flesh wing.

Bobo spit out the top halves of his bottom row of teeth. They were cut cleanly in half.

"New apples!" Screech resisted the urge to kill Bobo and returned to her breakfast. She didn't eat. She wanted to cry. She felt horrible for hurting Bobo. She felt like a monster. She heard Periwinkle's screams echo in her ears. She wanted to kill something to quiet the screams. Killing things always made her feel better.

"That was awesome two wings," praised Wild. "I would tell you that you are a good monster if it was not a paradox."

"Oxymoron," corrected Screech.

Wild nodded. "You are an oxymoron. A monster who can be cool."

Screech tried to wipe the flecks of dried blood off her sunglasses.

"Miss Stormchaser," said a mare who was so big she struggled to breath. "Dr. Red can see you now." She bit a wheel of cheese and gestured toward a heavy oak door.

Screech opened the door. She saw a room with more bright colors than a fireworks display. The thick scratchy carpet looked like it was made in an exploding paint factory. Everything was likely made in the age of psychedelia.

A bull with no horns sat on the carpet and arranged crystals. He looked to be thirty. Far to young to have bought the décor when it was new. He smiled. "Sit anywhere you like."

Screech passed the beanbag chair and sat on the wooden park bench. She looked at the lava lamp which sat beside her. "And I thought I needed a psychiatrist."

Dr. Red nodded. "I get that a lot." He got off the floor and sat on his oak desk. It was too big to fit through the door. "I was told you started a fight with a boy at your orphanage."

Screech glared at him. "I know."

"I was also told you have a history of violence."

Screech waited for him to continue. She waited for a while.

"Miss Stormchaser, can you tell me why you attacked Bobo?"

"I am a monster. Simple as that."

"What makes you think you are a monster?"

"My history of violence."

"Before you were violent you were not a monster?"

"I was born violent."

"But if you could stop being violent then you should not be a monster?"

"Sure. You can't change what you are born as."

"That is true. To a certain extent. I know what it is like to see yourself as not right. As different on the inside than you are on the outside. I took action to make myself who I knew I was. Who I am now."

"An udder reduction surgery can't fix my problems."

"It didn't fix mine either. Hard work fixed my problems. Are you willing to put in the work to change for the better?"

Screech shrugged. "I can't leave for an hour. Why not?"

Dr. Red smiled. "Tell me about your mother."

"How much do you know about her?"

"Only what your medical records told me."

"My medical records are wrong."

"She didn't cut off your wing?"

"Not on purpose."

"Tell me what did happen."

Screech was glad her session with Dr. Red was over. It left her feeling tired. She didn't care about Equestria's history. Bat ponies were always over looked for lessons about The Pillars or Celestia. She planned on sleeping through the class unless it was a lesson about history in the making. She enjoyed hearing about the new princess and her adventures.

"We are learning about pre-Equesteian history today." Said Dr. Papyrus. The grey unicorn polished her square glasses. "The ponies who lived before Celestia and Luna. Who here has ever heard of a pony named Munificent?"

Screech was the only creature in the class who raised a hoof.

Dr. Papyrus beamed. "How did you hear about her?"

"She was my grandmother," replied Screech dryly.

Mrs. Papyruse's jaw dropped. "You are a descendant of the Munificent? Please tell the class everything you know about her."

"I don't know much," said Screech. "Only what my mother told me about her. She died before I was born.

"Once upon a time a Pegasus named Munificent was chosen by a unicorn princess named Grandiloquent. Princess Grand enchanted her wings giving her the power to help ponies in need.

"Munificent was sent to an orphanage where ponies needed the most help. She used her magic wings to make a single spoon full of soup fill the bellies of the hungry fillies and colts. She used her magic wings to turn old broken toys into into new toys that were more fun than ever. She used her magic wings to transform the thin worn blankets on the children's beds into warm cozy wool blankets.

"The owner of the orphanage demanded Munificent use her wings to turn her into an alicorn. She attacked Munificent and tried to cut her wings off when she refused.

"Munificent returned to Princess Grand covered in her attacker's blood. The princess took her wings away entirely. Only monsters kill. Munificent was shunned by Princess Grand's subjects until she starved to death on streets paved with gold."

"That is right," Praised Dr. Papyrus. "Who-"

"Munificent's soul was sent to Limbo," continued Screech. "Where she met The Pony Of Shadows. He offered her new wings. Better wings. She returned to the living world three hundred years later. She used her wings to make the ponies of Grand's kingdom hungrier as they ate. Some didn't realize what was happening and ate until they starved to death. Others were crushed under the weight of their fine belongings. Burned to death under their warm blankets. The kingdom now devoid of life was invaded by umbra who were accused of the atrocities.

"Munificent went to work breeding an army of monsters. Monsters who could kill Princess Celestia before the return of Nightmare Moon. Once the world was bathed in eternal darkness The Pony Of Shadows would have returned and... I don't know what he would have done.

"The monsters attacked Canterlot Palace one year before the return of Nightmare Moon. They were killed by Celestia and her royal guard. Munificent was killed by a secret organization of ponies in sunglasses and tuxedos. And I was born a few years later."

Dr. Papyrus stared at Screech. "Your mother is a liar!" she screamed. "There is no connection between the blessed angle and the horrid witch who stole her name!" Tears filled her eyes. "Those are nasty lies! Go to detention!" She broke into a fit of sobbing.

Screech gladly left. She went to the library to nap.
