Nightmare Moon—a goddess among the stars. Second to Luna, yes, but a goddess all the same. The night was her realm, her dominion, even if she was forced to share its splendor.
This in turn did not make her a morning pony.
Following the split between Nightmare Moon and Princess Luna, Equestria found itself with two alicorns controlling the night sky. To maintain balance, a biweekly rotation was established, with each sister taking turns guiding the stars. This week, the night belonged to Luna, while Nightmare Moon, much to her dismay, was relegated to her "friendship lessons" during the day—a task she approached with thinly veiled reluctance.
Enter now: a groggy Nightmare Moon slouched at the dining table, her expression a stark contrast to the overly cheerful Princess Celestia seated across from her. Between them sat two plates of pancakes—banana for Celestia, and chocolate chip blueberry for Nightmare. Though the latter was undeniably her favorite, she couldn’t ignore the nagging thought that it had once been Luna’s favorite too. Another lingering fragment of a shared past, carried over into her. Still, that bittersweet thought did little to distract her from the undeniable deliciousness of her meal.
“So~,” Celestia began, her tone as syrupy as the maple drizzling over her pancakes. She cut an overly large piece from her stack, her knife gliding through the soft layers with ease. “Have you made any new friends lately?”
Nightmare Moon’s ears flicked towards her as her words took a moment to register.
“Huh?” she muttered, glancing up.
“Friends,” Celestia repeated, her smile unyielding. “Have you made any new ones?”
Nightmare stared at Celestia’s annoyingly radiant expression, her patience thinning with every passing second. With a sharp sigh, she turned back to her plate, the knife in her grasp making clumsy, jagged cuts through the pancakes.
“. . . No.”
The brightness in Celestia’s demeanor dimmed slightly. “No?” she echoed, the word coming out softer, as if she hadn’t quite expected that response.
Nightmare didn’t bother looking up. She simply shook her head and took a deliberate bite of her pancakes. At least the taste offered some small reprieve from the conversation.
Celestia sat down her utensils with deliberate care, her gaze softening into one of motherly concern—a look that never failed to irritate the dark alicorn.
“Sister—”
“I am not your sister,” Nightmare Moon snapped reflexively, casting a cold side-eye in her direction.
Celestia drew in a measured breath, steadying herself before continuing.
“Moonie, you’ve been here for over six months. Are you really saying you haven’t made even one friend?”
Nightmare’s lips curled into a sneer.
“No amount of lessons is going to make ponies forget who I am,” she said bitterly, her fork lazily prodding at her food. “I can’t so much as approach them without them fainting or bolting in terror.”
Her gaze lingered on the half-eaten pancakes before her, her tone sharpening. “And honestly? Good. I don’t want their friendship and I certainly don’t need it.”
The words tasted bitter, but she pushed them out anyway. Better to be alone, she told herself. She preferred it that way. Always had, always would—or so she tried to believe.
“Seth doesn’t seem frightened of you.”
The mere mention of his name was enough to sour what little remained of Nightmare Moon’s fragile mood. She looked up from her plate, her eyes narrowing and a thin frown carving its way onto her face.
“That monkey ought to fear me,” she hissed. “His presence makes me sick.”
Celestia tilted her head slightly, one brow arching in quiet curiosity.
“Why do you hate him so? He seems like a good... po—person, does he not?” she asked, catching herself mid-word.
“He’s insufferable. Always prancing about with that fake smile plastered across his face. It’s revolting,” Nightmare spat, lazily spearing a chunk of pancake with her fork and tossing it into her mouth. She chewed slowly before adding, “And don’t even get me started on the way he and Luna act. Sickeningly sweet, the both of them.”
Celestia’s expression remained calm, though her tone grew more pointed. “I happen to think they make excellent friends,” she said matter-of-factly.
Nightmare let out a sharp scoff, rolling her eyes with dramatic flair.
“Friends? You don’t actually believe that, do you?” Her voice dropped to a sneer, dripping with venom. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Luna’s already rut—”
“Nightmare, enough,” Celestia snapped, her voice firm but steady, cutting through the air like a blade.
The two locked eyes, the tension between them crackling like static. Nightmare held the white alicorn’s gaze for a few long, charged moments before finally rolling her eyes again, retreating behind a mask of indifference.
“I only speak the truth,” she muttered under her breath, though her tone was softer, more sullen.

“As delightful as this conversation has been, I really must be going,” Nightmare Moon said, her voice flat and devoid of enthusiasm.
Celestia gave only a small nod of acknowledgment, calmly continuing her meal as if unbothered by her sister’s abruptness.

Celestia sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of her nose with a hoof. “Honestly, you two are worse than foals.”
“Hey, I’m innocent here,” Seth quipped, throwing up his hands in mock innocence. “She’s the one with unresolved anger issues.”
“I heard that!” Nightmare’s voice echoed from the hallway, followed by the sound of a slamming door.
The murmur of conversation between the man and Celestia faded into a muffled hum as the heavy dining room doors swung shut behind her.
Nightmare Moon paused in the empty corridor, her chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. Lifting a hoof to her chest, she felt it—the frantic thrum of her heart, hammering against her ribcage like a caged beast. Seth leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table and grinning like a cat toying with its prey. “Make me,” he challenged, his tone light, almost playful, as if daring her to lose control.
And she did.

It smashed into a nearby shelf with a loud thud, dislodging several other books in the process. They tumbled to the ground in a chaotic heap, the sound echoing through the previously peaceful library.

“Oh no,” Seth replied, smirking with infuriating nonchalance. “I’m so scared. Consider my timbers thoroughly shivered.”

Luna’s lips pressed into a thin line, her narrowed eyes practically daring her former counterpart to speak.
On the opposite side of the table sat Seth and Nightmare Moon, both clearly worse for wear. Cuts and bruises peppered their bodies, the aftermath of their brawl still fresh on their skin. Nightmare’s normally pristine ethereal mane flickered faintly, and a small but angry cut marred her cheek.
Beside her, Seth sat stiffly, his shirt disheveled and his knuckles bruised. His posture was tense, his shoulders rigid as he rubbed his sore ribs absentmindedly. But neither of them seemed concerned with their injuries.

“Busy!?” Luna finally managed, her voice cracking slightly. “Busy doing what, exactly?! The entire castle hath heard your… your… NOISES!”
Nightmare rolled her eyes dramatically, sitting up with far more confidence than anyone in her position should have had. “Clearly, we were engaging in very private activities that were none of your concern, dear sister,” she replied haughtily, brushing a hoof through her mane as though nothing were amiss.
Celestia, meanwhile, looked as though she were seconds away from bursting into laughter. Her lips twitched as she struggled to maintain her composure, though the faint shimmer of amusement in her eyes betrayed her. “Nightmare, I must admit,” she said, her tone light and teasing, “for someone so insistent on hating Seth, you sure are making yourself… well acquainted with him.”
Nightmare’s glare turned to Celestia. “I am only making this ape my toy lest I die of boredom here,” she shot back, her voice as sharp as ever, though the faintest hint of a smirk tugged at her lips.
Seth, realizing that this situation wasn’t going to resolve itself, cleared his throat awkwardly. “Uh… so… how’s the weather?” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. His face was a bright crimson, his mortification palpable.
Luna rounded on him, her wings flaring again. “And THEE! How dareth thee defile the very sanctity of these walls with your… your… monkey lust!”
“Hey, that’s a little uncalled for!” Seth shot back, holding up his hands defensively. “Besides, last I checked, it takes two to—”
“ENOUGH!” Celestia cut in, raising a hoof as her laughter finally bubbled to the surface. “As… entertaining as this is, I believe we’ve intruded enough.” She gave Nightmare a knowing look before turning to the guards still frozen in the living room. “Return to your posts, please. There’s nothing to see here.”
The guards, grateful for the dismissal, scattered like leaves in a storm, some of them muttering prayers to Faust under their breath.
Luna, however, was not so easily appeased. “Sister, we cannot simply alloweth this to go unaddressed! This is—this is a flagrant—”
“Luna,” Celestia interrupted gently, placing a hoof on her sister’s shoulder. “Leave them be.” Her tone was firm, but her eyes sparkled with barely restrained mirth. “I think they’ve had enough excitement for one day.”
With that, Celestia turned to leave, casting one last glance over her shoulder. “Do try to keep it down next time,” she said with a wink.
As the door closed behind them, Seth slumped back against the bed with a groan, throwing an arm over his face. “I’m never going to live this down,” he muttered.
Nightmare Moon, on the other hoof, leaned back against him with a smug grin. “Oh, I wouldn’t worry, human. Let them talk. Let them all know.” She nuzzled into his neck, her voice dropping to a sultry whisper. “After all, you’re mine now.”
Seth peeked out from under his arm, his lips twitching into a small smile despite himself. “Yeah, I guess I am,” he murmured, his tone warm and resigned.
And as the muffled sound of Celestia’s laughter echoed faintly down the hall, the two of them lay back, ready to face whatever chaos came next—together.

I had this sitting on the back burner for about 2 years. Figured I ought to get this out there before I forget.
Anywho, this was a first time for me writing smut. So, let me know how I did!
Truthfully, I had a lot more planned for the juicy part of the story but by then I was already at 17k words, so I had to start wrapping things up.
