Chapter 2: Is this a new discovery?

Previous Chapter

Serpentine should have expected this. Sure, teleportation is a bit disorienting for first-timers, but he thought Twilight could handle it, being a prodigy herself.

As he watched Twilight retching onto the grass, vomiting a good chunk of half-digested fruit salad, he realized he was wrong. Way, wrong.

"Well, there goes my Salad." Serpentine winced, hearing his student vomiting. "Ayayay... I’ll have to apologize, Twilight. I didn’t account l kind of didn't account the posibility of motion sickness." Serpentine said, rubbing Twilight's back gently.

Twilight weakly turned to him, managing a smile. "It’s okay, Sensei... I’m not a weak little filly."

'Weak? No. But a little filly? Always will be to me,' Serpentine thought with a grin as he summoned a handkerchief and wiped her muzzle.

“Well then, I’ll give you some time to recover. Right now—”

With a gleam in his sparkling green eyes, he raised a forehoof and extended it outward in a grand, sweeping motion.

"Welcome to my humble training grounds, my little student," Serpentine declared proudly.

Twilight glanced around, confusion shown on her face. "Sensei... uh, we're in the middle of nowhere."

"Outstanding observation, Twilight," Serpentine snorted, clapping his hooves. "Yes, we are—exactly three kilometers from my house, to be precise."

He stepped in front of her, a slight grin tugging at his lips. "I’m well aware things can go wrong during training, which is why we’re out here. We won’t be practicing near my house. Young fillies and colts tend to lose control of their magic, and I prefer to avoid collateral damage."

Twilight frowned but nodded, understanding his reasoning.

Serpentine ruffled her mane. "Twilight, knowing you, something crazy is bound to happen. Talented or not, you’re still a little filly with a knack for potentially dangerous magic," he said, shuddering at the thought of Evil Twilight. No sir, he will not let her go down a dark path.

Twilight hesitated, her thoughts drifting to crystals and magical equipment she imagined would be help her of her training. Did Sensei have something different in mind?

Serpentine's expression grew serious, though a hint of mischief lingered in his eyes. "To know magic is to understand how to mold it, control it, and make it your bi- I mean servant!"

Twilight raised an eyebrow, unsure whether to be amused or perplexed by his choice of words. "Make it my servant? As in, I'll command it?"

"Exactly," Serpentine replied. "Magic isn’t just a force to be reckoned with. It’s a tool, a resource, a power waiting to be harnessed and shaped by those who master it. Control it, and you’ll see results."

Twilight considered Serpentine's words carefully, her mind racing with questions and curiosity. "But... how do I even begin to harness something as... abstract and complicated as magic?"

Serpentine’s grin widened, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, duh, my little egghead. That's why i'm here. I’m going to teach you everything you need to know about magic! That’s your nickname from now on, by the way. Get used to it."

Twilight groaned lightly at the nickname.

Serpentine’s smirk deepened. "Now, let me show you something... a little taste of the advanced magics. A taste of what real power looks like." He straightened himself, his eyes narrowing with focus. "You’re going to need a proper training ground, and I know just the thing."

He clapped his hooves together, his horn glowing with an intense, swirling aura of magic. He placed his hoof in front of him "Domain Expansion!" he roared, his voice loud like a thunderclap.

The earth beneath them began to quake, sending small tremors rippling outward. Twilight stumbled, eyes wide as she felt the sheer power radiating from her sensei. Around them, the ground split open, and massive marble slabs emerged, forming a polished foundation. Towering pillars shot skyward, their tops adorned with intricate carvings that seemed to glow faintly with energy. Walls rose, encircling them, each inscribed with arcane symbols that shimmered as if alive.

Twilight spun around, her jaw dropping as she took in the sight. What had once been a simple grassy field was now a grand, magestic, training ground.

"Heh," Serpentine chuckled, clearly pleased with himself. "I’ve always wanted to do this. What do you think, Twilight? Not bad for a warm-up, right?"

Twilight could only gape in awe. "This... this is incredible! How did you—what kind of magic is this?"

"Advanced Arcane manipulation," Serpentine said smugly, casually brushing imaginary dust off his shoulder. "Something you will learn in the future." And this," he gestured grandly to the domain, "is where you’re going to learn to do just that. Welcome to your new training grounds."

'Actually, I can only do this inside the necklase.' Serpentine Sweatdropped, not that he would tell Twilight about it.

Twilight took a hesitant step forward, her hooves clinking softly against the marble floor. "It’s... amazing, Sensei. I don’t even know where to start!"

Serpentine smirked, his horn glowing faintly. "Don’t worry, little egghead. I’ve got plenty of lessons planned. But for now, the first thing you need to do is to learn the basics, enough to the point that your power grows strong enough to get out of the necklase.

Serpentine then stand in front of Twilight, towering her by a long shot.

"Now, let’s begin with the basics—inside this domain, the rules of reality are a little more... flexible. Perfect for experimentation."

Twilight nodded eagerly, her excitement pushing aside any lingering fatigue. This was a whole new level of magic, and she couldn’t wait to dive in.

Serpentine’s grin turned wicked. "Let’s see if you’re ready to handle the real deal."

With a glow of his horn, he summoned a floating crystal. The object drifted down to Twilight’s eye level, and she stared at it, her mouth slightly agape.

"This," he said with a dramatic flourish, "is an Arcana Crystal."

Twilight’s eyes sparkled with wonder as she admired the crystal’s intricate beauty. But something about it made her pause. "Uh, Sensei... Why is it carved like your face?"

"Yes!" Serpentine said proudly, puffing out his chest. "It’s a custom design. What can I say? I’m an innovator and a model."

Twilight blinked, unsure whether to laugh or question further, but Serpentine pressed on. "This crystal will assess your magical prowess by measuring your reserves. Magic is a finite source, after all. All you have to do is touch it, and let the magic do the rest."

Twilight hesitated, then placed her hoof on the crystal. A small, tingling sensation spread through her, as though her magic was being gently tugged. She smiled. "This is so cool, Sensei. I feel like a river flowing."

Serpentine nodded, looking a little smug. "Of course it is cool. Honestly, I may or may not have borrowed the idea from an OP isekai anime I watched years ago. Oh, and a bit of D&D. Instead of a plain glass ball, I made it me. I mean, who’s going to call me out for copying? This is my world—"

His rant was cut short when the crystal started glowing intensely. A blinding light engulfed the area as the crystal vibrated in Twilight’s hoof.

Serpentine’s eyes widened. "Holy hell! That’s too much! It’s overloading!"

Instinctively, he telekinetically grabbed the crystal and hurled it into the air just before it exploded in a fiery burst of magical energy. It's magnitude so great, it pushed away the nearby clouds. Colors rained down like a dazzling firework display, leaving Serpentine and Twilight staring at the aftermath in stunned silence.

'This kid as a walking fountain. At her age too? What is this, Naruto? Fucking hell Celestia did this kid dirty.' Serpentine thought as he deadpanned, still looking at the aftermath of the explosion.

After a bit, Serpentine cleared his throat, brushing off imaginary dust from his coat. "Well, glad I didn't put a roof, huh." Serpentine quipped, "Uh... good news, Twilight. Your magic reserves are... abundant, to say the least. And from what I can observe from, your magic is... exceptionally high quality."

Twilight smiled, before wincing sheepishly. "Heh, I’m sorry for breaking your face, Sensei."

Serpentine chuckled, waving a hoof dismissively. "Oh, it was bound to break eventually. You just... sped up the process. So, take a little pride in destroying my face!" he joked, flashing a teasing grin.

Twilight couldn’t help but laugh, her earlier embarrassment fading away.

Serpentine claps his hooves together. "Well, now that I got to take a look on your talents, I can finally start the lesson! It's time to cook!"

Serpentine summoned a small whiteboard and a marker with a flash of his horn, making them appear in front of Twilight in dramatic fashion. A seat with an armchair appears suddenly at Twilight, with a pen and paper on the table. He twirled the marker with his telekinesis before writing in large, slightly crooked letters:

"History Lesson Numero Uno: Magic of the World Simplified."

"Alright, Twilight, let’s dive into this hole you're going to dig yourself deeper," Serpentine began. "What I’m about to teach you is something you’ve probably never encountered or heard ever before. Well... most likely."

Twilight adjusted to her seat, gripping her pen in her hoof. "I’m ready, Sensei."

Serpentine nodded, his horn glowing as he wrote boldly on the whiteboard:

"Two Primary Types of Magic: Arcane and Divine."

Twilight tilted her head, a puzzled expression forming. "Wait, just two? That doesn’t make sense! From what I’ve read, there are so many types! Elemental, transformational, illusionary, a-"

With dramatic flair, Serpentine summoned a ruler and slapped it against the whiteboard, making Twilight flinch. "Have a little patience and faith, my little student," he teased, clearly enjoying her reaction. "I’m about to explain to you is a system of magic I... created. Yes, totally original," he added with a grin. "Something that will definitely blow you away. Now here, all magic boils down into two categories."

He tapped the first word on the board. "Arcane magic comes from manipulating raw, natural energy—magic born from the universe itself. Think of it as the magic of everything around you, the magic of intellect, and the understanding the universe’s fundamental laws."

Twilight’s eyes lit up with excitement. "Fundamental laws? Like physics, biology, chemistry, mathemat—"

"Twilight." Serpentine interrupted softly, pointing the ruler at her. "Only ask questions when you really don't understand the topic."

"Sorry, Sensei," Twilight muttered, shrinking slightly in her seat, her ears folding back.

I shook my head, smiling, "Anyways, you are correct. Those are the some of the building blocks of everything that make this world turn, and understanding them is the key to Arcane magic."

Serpentine began to draw a crappy doddle of himself using different types of magic

"Every spell you cast, every enchantment you weave, is an application of these fundamental principles. For example, when you create a fireball, you’re using magic to accelerate particles, generate heat, and condensing it into a controlled fiery mass."

Twilight furrowed her brow. "But... if that’s the case, why don’t we study magic like science? Why isn’t every spell just an equation?"

"Ehhhh, no," Serpentine said, raising a hoof, "because magic is both a science and an art. While the underlying mechanics are grounded in rules of nature, *snorts* how you channel and shape them is where creativity comes in. No two unicorns will cast the same fireball the exact same way."

Serpentine stepped away from the whiteboard, his horn glowing as he conjured two distinctly different fireballs. One was a bright, flickering rock in flames, crackling. The other was a denser, sluggish sphere of molten lava, radiating heat waves that distorted the air around it.

"Pay close attention, Twilight," he began, pacing slowly. "A fireball, in essence, is a flaming hot projectile designed to be hurled at your target. But how you create that fireball can vary greatly."

He gestured to the first fireball. "Take this one. It’s formed by igniting a rock with magic using the air molecules around it. Light, fast, and perfect for delivering damage on a singular target."

Then he pointed to the second. "And this? A soup of molten lava, shaped into a ball. Slower, heavier, but devastatingly effective for area damage."

"Under normal circumstances, these wouldn't work. Cause you have to take account of the mass, density, projectile speed, air resistance, laws of acc- you know what, physics and all that stuff. Buuut, with a little help of magic..."

Without further explanation, Serpentine threw the fireballs one after the other. The first fireball shot forward like a missile, slamming into the ground with a fiery explosion and leaving a small, smoldering crater. The second followed more deliberately, splattering on impact as molten lava spread across the ground in a glowing, destructive pool.

Twilight's eyes widened, her jaws dropped as she witnessed the fireball's incredible power. A shiver of awe ran through her.

"It ended up being the key factor in making something that shouldn't work, work. You use the laws of logic to break the laws of logic." Serpentine explained, his tone serious but laced with excitement. "Magic lets us bend the rules, making the impossible possible. Take throwing a ball of lava, for instance; logically, it should fail. It's like trying to toss a bucket of water; it would splash and lose shape. But with magic? You can force it to stay in shape, to fly straight and hit your target. That’s the gist of it, my little egghead."

"Lastly, Not everyone envisions a fireball the same way. But as long as it fits the definition, it will be considered."

Serpentine then turned back to the whiteboard, as he sketched a simple triangle. At each corner, he wrote: Knowledge, Skill, and Imagination. He stepped back with a satisfied nod.

"These," he declared, tapping each corner with the marker, "are the pillars of Arcane magic."

He pointed to the first corner. "Knowledge is understanding the laws you’re working with. The more you know about how the universe functions, its rules, and its patterns; the more precise and powerful your magic becomes. You have plenty of knowledge yourself for an eleven year old, how much more when you're older, it depends on you."

Twilight nodded eagerly, her pen scratching furiously at her paper.

He moved to the second corner. "Skill is your ability to apply that knowledge through practice. It’s not enough to just know something; you have to hone your craft, refine your control, and execute your spells flawlessly. This is where I came in to the equation. I will be instructing you and teaching you how to use magic properly."

Twilight's eyes gleamed with focus as she continued to write everything down.

Finally, Serpentine tapped the last corner. "Imagination is what separates a decent mage from a truly great one. It’s how you innovate, create new spells, and push the boundaries of what’s possible. Without imagination, magic becomes stagnant. This is definitely your biggest weakness"

Twilight’s pen dragged across the page, writing every word she want to, her enthusiasm causing her to press too hard. With a sudden snap, the pen broke in her grip.

"Ah!" she gasped, staring at the broken pen.

Serpentine chuckled, clearly amused. With a flick of his horn, he removed the broken pen, and replaced it with a fresh new pen. "Here. Try not to let your enthusiasm of learning destroy this one."

Blushing, Twilight muttered a quick "thank you" and resumed writing.

Serpentine went back to the whiteboard. "Now, let’s get it on with the other side of the coin. Something you'll probably never learn or need too, Divine magic."

Serpentine leaned against the whiteboard, crossing his forelegs as he began to delve into the topic. "And how it differs from Arcane magic. It’s a world apart from the structured, knowledge-driven nature of Arcane magic, and that’s what makes it... Fascinating."

'and also so fucking bullshit. Like really bullshit.' Serpentine grimaced, remembering the messed up shit like Berserk and Hellsing.

"Anyways, Divine magic," Serpentine started, "draws its power from external sources. It originates from higher beings—deities, spirits, or otherworldly forces. These entities bestow power upon their followers, usually in exchange for faith, devotion, or fulfilling their will."

He gestured toward the triangle he had drawn earlier. "Where Arcane magic is grounded in intellect and creativity, Divine magic is powered by belief. It’s less about understanding the world’s mechanics and more about aligning yourself with something greater than yourself."

Twilight tilted her head, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "So, you’re saying Divine magic users don’t control the magic themselves? It’s just... given to them?"

"Ehh... Not really, you also need skills, and knowledge for the user to harness such magics. Borrowed power tends to mess things up if not controlled." Serpentine said.

"The magic isn’t yours; it’s loaned to you by a higher power. You’re a conduit, not the source. That’s why Divine magic often feels... different. It doesn’t follow the same logical patterns as Arcane magic."

He paused, giving her time to jot down her notes, then continued. "Arcane magic is about control and manipulation of the universe. You take the energy around you and shape it into what you need. Divine magic, on the other hoof, is about trust. You trust that the higher power granting you the magic knows what’s best, and in return, you perform miracles like healing, blessings, or divine smiting."

Twilight scribbled furiously, her brow furrowed in thought. Then, a question popped into her mind, and she hesitated before asking. "Sensei, does that mean Princess Celestia uses Divine magic? She’s... well, a Goddess, so there must be a higher power that gave her her powers, right?"

Serpentine froze mid-thought, blinking a few times. Now that he actually considered it, he realized he didn’t really know how Celestia got her powers. He hadn't exactly done a deep dive into the MLP Equestrian lore. Was her power really granted by some higher force? Or was she just naturally fucking powerful? Honestly, he does not give a fuck.

'Guess I’ll have to theorize a theory... a game theory!' Serpentine thought, suppressing a snort.

"Well, Twilight," he finally said, straightening up and adopting a acting tone, "I have to admit something. I’ve never actually met Princess Celestia, so I wouldn't truely know."

Twilight gasped, dropping her pen. "What?! That can’t be! Celestia has been in this world for over a thousand years!"

Serpentine shrugged nonchalantly. "True. But let’s not forget what you said back at my house: no male alicorns have been spotted in like... a long time. And, of course, there’s also the tiny tiny detail of me being stuck in this necklace for ages."

Twilight sheepishly rubbed the back of her neck. "Oh... right. I guess that makes sense."

Serpentine nodded, smirking. "You can’t exactly rub elbows with royalty when you’re trapped in a shiny trinket. Besides, my focus has always been on mastering Arcane magic, not diving into Celestia’s personal lore."

'Like a gmod sandbox,' I thought, recalling the times of experimenting with magic. Safe to say, don't do anything that could kill you because you can't re spawn.

Twilight tilted her head, curiosity glinting in her eyes. "But... don’t you want to know? How does she raise the sun, then?"

Serpentine’s lips twitched, his face lighting up with a mock thinking. "I do wonder..." He then let out a loud laugh. "Nah, I actually know. Is Celestia a wielder of Divine magic? In theory, No. Not quite."

Twilight frowned. "But... she’s an alicorn! She raises the sun! Isn’t that the kind of power a deity would have?"

Serpentine chuckled, his green eyes glinting mischievously. "Oh, so now you’re indirectly calling me a god, huh?"

Twilight blinked, still confused. "Well... aren’t you?"

Serpentine raised an eyebrow, his grin softening into a knowing smirk. "My dear little egghead, the answer is... no. I’m no god. I’m just me; magnificent, powerful, and handsome, sure; but still just me."

Twilight gave him a skeptical look, but he continued before she could protest. "And so is Celestia. She’s her own little thing. From what I’ve observed and know myself of, alicorns aren’t gods. They’re just a long-lived species that embodies the three attributes of ponies: the strength of earth ponies, the flight of pegasi, and the magic of unicorns. Add centuries of practice and mastery, and you get a sun-raising alicorn extraordinaire."

Twilight furrowed her brow, trying to understand, "But... she’s been around for so long, and her power feels limitless. Doesn’t that make her... more than just an alicorn?"

Serpentine shrugged. "Maybe. But longevity and strength don’t automatically make you divine. If anything, her feats speak more to her skill, experience, and dedication to her magic than any divine connection. I mean, give her props for running the entire country for such a long time."

Twilight nodded slowly, scribbling furiously in her notes. "I suppose that makes sense... so alicorns are more like... exceptionally advanced ponies?"

"Exactly," Serpentine said with a satisfied nod. "Remember, Twilight, you don’t need divinity to achieve greatness. You just need to harness what’s already within you."

'Bullshit, I know. But it is what it is.' Sepentine thought.

He crossed his forelegs and grinned. "Now, if you’re curious, Celestia’s magic is indeed Arcane, through and through. She doesn’t pray to some higher being to raise the sun; she does it herself, using raw magical forces. She is a testament to what’s possible with Arcane magic when you dedicate yourself to it completely. She’s not relying on some higher power to gift her abilities—she’s rewriting the rules with her own knowledge, skill, and imagination."

Twilight’s pen hovered mid-air as she absorbed this revelation. "That... makes so much sense. But it also makes her even more amazing!"

'Oh if only she knew... how many time she would rely on you to do her own work. Plus, I don't think we really need someone to raise the sun, like... why can't we just... you know, let it rotate around' I snorted.

"Remember this, Twilight: Divine magic has its place, but never underestimate the boundless potential of Arcane mastery. After all, even gods need followers who understand magic to make their will a reality."

Serpentine watched as Twilight furiously jotted down notes, her brow furrowed in thought. She paused for a moment, reflecting on everything he had taught her so far.

'Sensei has taught me more in a day than the School for Gifted Unicorns has in years,' she thought. 'Well, maybe that’s because I’ve always been ahead of my classmates; and stuck thanks to that ridiculous rule about not skipping grades. Still... this might be a blessing in disguise. I have more time to train under him.'

With a flick of his horn, Serpentine teleported the whiteboard and her chair away, leaving Twilight with her notes and quill. "Alright, Twilight," he announced with a grin, "since you’ve absorbed the knowledge I’ve shared, it’s time for practical training. And what better training than learning to mold magic?"

Twilight perked up, her curiosity piqued. "Mold magic? What do you mean, Sensei?"

"Observe." Serpentine’s horn glowed with a vibrant green light as he began to release liquid magic. The shimmering energy formed into a medium-sized bubble, floating effortlessly in the air.

Twilight’s jaw dropped. "Whoa... I didn’t even know you could do that!"

Serpentine chuckled. "Takes a bit of practice, but you’ll get the hang of it. Now! On to our first phase!"

The First Phase: Magic Molding:

As Twilight marveled at the shimmering bubble, it suddenly began to glow brighter and brighter. Without warning, it shot upwards at blinding speed, splitting into a cascade of smaller orbs that streaked across the sky like fiery comets. Each one erupted in a dazzling explosion, painting the heavens with bursts of multicolored light and waves of shimmering energy.

Twilight ducked instinctively, her heart pounding. "W-What the hay is that?!"

Serpentine scratched the back of his head sheepishly, a sheepish grin tugging at his lips. "Uh... might’ve accidentally cast Draco Meteor. Or, well, some sort of… variant."

"Draco what?! That was—there were explosions! Everywhere!"

He chuckled, his grin widening. "I know, right? Beautiful, isn’t it? One day, you’ll be doing that too. Don’t worry, though—we’ll start small."

Twilight’s ears flattened as she gulped nervously. "S-Small. Right. Sure."

"Before we get to the fun stuff," Serpentine continued, summoning a translucent, glowing die in his hoof, "let’s test the waters a bit."

He gently tapped the die to Twilight’s forehead, the magic seeping into her. The die vanished with a faint shimmer, leaving Twilight blinking in confusion.

‘So, if this actually works, I can manipulate—or at least predict—how Twilight Sparkle would do,’ Serpentine mused, a sly grin creeping across his face. ‘Nothing like a bit of good ol’ fashioned RNG to spice things up. What can I say, I can be a lucky guy.’ He chuckled quietly to himself, thoroughly amused by what he considered his "genius plan."

"Okay, let go gambling!" Serpentine said, cheering. He tossed it into the air, catching it with ease. The die landed on an 4.

His expression faltered. "Ah, dang it. That’s not great."

Twilight raised an eyebrow. "What’s not great?"

"Never mind! Focus on pushing a small amount of magic out of your horn. Slowly, steadily. Think of it like turning a faucet—don’t crank it all the way."

Twilight took a deep breath, her determination overriding her nerves. Closing her eyes, she focused, her horn sparking faintly as a soft stream of energy began to flow. A glowing bubble started to take shape, shimmering in the air like a fragile orb of light.

"Good, good," Serpentine encouraged. "Remember the Arcana Crystal. You don’t pour too fast or too wide, less you want to get the same result. Keep it steady."

Twilight hummed, her brow furrowing with effort. The bubble grew larger, but she could feel her magic slipping from her grasp. Panic bubbled in her chest as the energy became unstable.

"Twilight, that’s enough! Stop!" Serpentine warned.

But it was too late. The bubble twisted violently before shooting skyward, exploding into a cascade of sparkling embers.

Twilight staggered, her legs wobbling beneath her. Serpentine caught her with his magic, shaking his head with a sigh. "You’re pushing too much at once. Control is key. Let’s try again."

Twilight gulped but nodded, determination burning in her eyes. "I’m ready, Sensei."

"Good, let's give you one hell of a training montage, my dear little student."

The Second Phase: Magic Flow Control

Serpentine conjured a row of floating crystal heads of himself of different sizes. Each shimmered faintly, like a candle struggling to stay lit. "Your first task is simple. Feed magic into these crystals one at a time, just enough to make them glow brightly. But don’t overdo it, or they’ll shatter."

Twilight nodded, her horn lighting up as she channeled her magic into the first crystal. It flickered, then brightened—but just as quickly, it cracked and exploded into harmless sparks.

"Too much," Serpentine said, crossing his forelegs. "Start again. Focus on feeling the flow, not forcing it."

Twilight tried again, adjusting the amount of magic she poured in. One crystal lit up brightly, then the next. By the fourth, her magic faltered, and the orb dimmed.

"Keep going," Serpentine urged. "Your flow and control need to improve. No shortcuts."

Twilight gritted her teeth, her horn flaring as she moved from crystal to crystal. By the time she reached the final one, sweat dripped down her face, but she succeeded in lighting them all.

The Third Phase: Precision

Serpentine snapped his hoof, and dozens of tiny candles appeared, each with unlit wicks. "Now, you’ll light these candles. One by one. No fireballs. Just pinpoint a spark of your magic. It will be enough to light the candle."

Serpentine then rolled the dice from his hoof. It rolled 9.

'aww dang it.'

Twilight nodded, though her legs were trembling. She focused, forming tiny sparks at the tip of her horn and shooting them toward the wicks.

One candle lit perfectly.

The second was too strong, melting the wax.

The third fizzled out before it even reached the wick.

"Concentration, Twilight!." Serpentine commanded. "Magic isn’t just brute strength; it’s also about finesse! Another set."

Twilight’s frustration bubbled, but she took a deep breath, steadying herself. Slowly, her accuracy improved, and by the time she lit the last candle, her horn felt like it was on fire.

The Fourth Phase: Magic Manipulation:

With a flick of his horn, Serpentine conjured a massive block of raw magic, shimmering and unstable. "This is raw magical essence. How did I materialize this? Don't ask. Your job? Shape it into something useful. Start small; go form a sphere, a cube, and lastly, my beautiful head. "

Twilight stared at the swirling mass of energy, unsure how to even begin. She reached out with her magic, trying to mold it into a sphere, but the mass resisted, shifting chaotically.

"Focus, now. Think like a sculpturer. Mold it to your own image." Serpentine called out. "Raw magic has no form until you give it one. Visualize what you want! And bash it onto the magicsl escence"

Twilight closed her eyes, imagining a perfect sphere. Slowly, the energy began to condense, forming a shaky, uneven ball.

Serpentine frowned, looking at the already rolled dice. It rolled an 11.

'aww dang it.'

"Better, but not good enough," Serpentine said, his tone sharp. "Again!"

Minutes passed as Twilight shaped the magic over and over. Serpentine managed to finally roll a 20. With thay, the sphere became smoother, the cube sharper, and eventually, she managed to create a small almost disfigured figurine resembling her mentor, complete with his smug grin.

"Ha! What a handsome sculpture if I do say so myself." Serpentine said, his eyes gleaming. "But don’t think we’re done yet."

The Final Phase: Endurance:

Serpentine’s horn glowed with a brilliant aura as he raised a hoof dramatically. He then conjured a 20-sided die from thin air and tossed it. The die clattered against the marble floor, spinning briefly before settling on an 18.

"Aww, yes!" he exclaimed, fist-bumping the air in triumph. His horn flared even brighter as he declared, "Conjure Woodland Beings!"

In an instant, a series of glowing, ethereal forms began materializing in front of them. A batch of woodland creatures; crafted entirely of oak and shimmering with faint magical energy. Some scurried along the ground, their wooden limbs clattering softly, while others soared into the air on intricate, leaf-shaped wings. Each moved with an unpredictable, animal-like grace.

"Behold!" Serpentine proclaimed with a smug grin. "Your next training partners, Twilight."

Twilight's eyes widened as she took a step back, her gaze darting between the wooden creatures scurrying and flitting around the training ground. "W-what?! These look like the timberwolves I've read about in Everfree Bestiary! Are... are they dangerous?"

Serpentine gasped dramatically, placing a hoof on his chest as though she had just struck him. "How dare you compare my creations to those brutes." His tone dripped with mock indignation, and his mane seemed to puff slightly for emphasis. "I’ll have you know, these magnificent beings are handcrafted to perfection. Each one is as handsome and beautiful as its brilliant creator."

Twilight rolled her eyes, stifling a chuckle. By now, she was starting to get used to her Sensei’s flamboyant ego. "Uh-huh, sure, Sensei," she said with a smirk, her nerves settling slightly.

Serpentine grinned, stepping back and gesturing toward the wooden creatures. They moved with a restless energy, circling Twilight as if waiting for a signal. "These little beauties are here to test your endurance, aim, and control," he began, his tone laced with challenge. "Unicorns, as powerful as you are, tend to have a glaring weakness: durability. In a prolonged battle, standing still makes you a sitting duck. To counter that, you must master the art of run and gun."

Twilight’s ears perked up as she listened intently.

"You will move as you cast. No standing still. No hesitation. Adapt to a dynamic environment, or be overwhelmed. Your task is simple yet a bit unforgiving: hit each of the tagets with a controlled zap of magic. Miss even one, and you start over. Lose focus, and..." His grin widened as he clapped his hooves. The creatures suddenly sped up, darting in erratic patterns.

Twilight gulped, her heart pounding in her chest. "They speed up?"

"Exactly," Serpentine confirmed. "Combat isn’t predictable, my little egghead. Now you get unlimited tries until I sense you need to take a break. So... Good luck and score the most points possible."

Twilight took a deep breath, her horn beginning to glow as the challenge commenced. She fired at the first target, then the next. Her aim wavered as the targets zipped through the air, causing her to restart from the benining. But she refused to give up.

"You’re slowing down!" Serpentine shouted. "Push through it!"

Twilight’s horn ached, her vision blurred, but she forced herself to stay steady. After a whole hour, she managed to set a record of 18 hits in one session.

TRAINING SESSION END: TOTAL TIME: 4 HOURS and 38 MINUTES.

Serpentine floated a glass of water to Twilight as she lay sprawled on the comfy beanbag her sensei placed, her mane slightly disheveled and her chest rising and falling as she caught her breath.

"Not bad, my little egghead," Serpentine said, a satisfied smirk tugging at his lips. "You’ve done better than I expected. Take a break; you’ve earned it."

Twilight took the glass in her magic, her aura flickering slightly from fatigue. "T-thank you, Sensei," she whispered, sipping the water.

Serpentine chuckled, as he set another bean bag next to Twilight and sat on it. "You know, I’m not just saying this to stroke your ego, but you managed to survive my training regimen in just four hours. That’s impressive."

"Wait. Four hours...?" Twilight’s eyes widened in shock.

"Well, yeah. You were out cold for about six hours when I first found you," he said nonchalantly.

Her expression shifted to panic. "So that means... I’ve been gone for half a day! My parents! They must be worried sick—they’re probably looking for me right now!"

"Ugh, my ears!" Serpentine winced, covering them dramatically. "Twilight, relax. Time works differently here."

"Ehh?" she asked, her voice trembling tiredly.

"Time here moves slower compared to the outside world," he explained, his tone easing into one of reassurance. "Probably about 20 minutes have passed back there. So stop freaking out. You’re fine."

Twilight exhaled in relief, but her expression quickly shifted to confusion. "Wait, how does that work?"

Serpentine groaned, running a hoof through his mane. "Ugh, I really don’t want to explain this one. Time dialation and all that cra- stuff. It’s way too complicated."

Her brow furrowed. "But—"

"Trust me," he interrupted, holding up a hoof. "You don’t want me to start. It’s a headache waiting to happen."

Twilight frowned tiredly but decided to let it go.

"Now, as I was saying," Serpentine continued, ignoring her grumbling, "Sure, this was just the basics, and no, you didn’t nail them perfectly. But with your results... I can confidently say you’ve done amazingly well for your age. Keep this up, and you’ll be tackling advanced magic well before your twenties."

Twilight’s face flushed at the praise. "Really? That means a lot, Sensei. I’ll keep working hard!"

Serpentine chuckled softly, glancing down at the exhausted filly sprawled on the comfy beanbag. ‘Aww, great. She’s already tugging at my heartstrings. Damn it, now I’m tempted to mess with the canon and just keep her. Celestia who? Look out world, she's my kid now.’ His smirk faltered for a moment as another thought struck him. ‘Wait a second... Kid... kid... wait, isn't she eleven. I FORGOT SHE'S ELEVEN. And I didn’t even bother with a warmup?! Damn it Dumbfuck, I’m an idiot.’

He facepalmed, shaking his head as he stepped closer, kneeling beside her. "You know, Twilight," he said gently, his voice uncharacteristically soft, "I just realized something. Uhm... I have to admit, I may have gone a little overboard today."

Twilight lifted her head weakly, still catching her breath. "W-what do you mean, Sensei?"

He gave her an apologetic smile, brushing some stray leaves off her mane. "I might’ve pushed you too hard, especially for your age. You’re only eleven, and here I am putting you through intense drills meant for Mc protagonists and advanced-level unicorns. Not to mention, I completely skipped warmups and cooldowns." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, before bowing down to her "Mistakes have been made, and I'm willing to apologize for everything."

Twilight blinked, then frantically shook her head. "No, Sensei!" Twilight yelled before sheepishly covering her muzzle.

"Please lift your head up. It was hard, and it felt like I was going to die, but I wanted it to be. I feel... proud of myself for once.” She glanced at the sky, her gaze softening. “You’ve taught me more in a day than I’ve learned at the school for years. For the first time, I feel acomplished. "

Serpentine frowned slightly, his sharp gaze softening as he watched her determination shine through her exhaustion. "You’re incredible, Twilight," he said, sincerity lacing his words. "You’re gifted beyond belief, and I have no doubt you’ll surpass even my wildest expectations. But..." He held up a hoof to stop her from interrupting. "You’re still a filly, and as your teacher, it’s my responsibility to not just train you till you drop dead but to make sure that your actually not drop dead in the process. Your training will still feel like hell, but I’ll make sure it’s better suited to your age and development. You’ve got plenty of time to grow into your full potential."

Twilight hesitated before nodding, a small smile tugging at her lips. "I understand. Thank you, Sensei."

"Atta, girl... or filly," he said, standing up and stretching. Serpentine couldn’t help but smirk again, his expression softening. 'Phew, crisis averted. Good job, Serpentine. Don’t traumatize the kid on her first first day. I'm now also tempted to commit Anime Mc status on her, for a chance to adopt her. But nah, i'm not that cruel.' Sepentine snorted under his breath.

"Well, like I said, you're still young. But don't worry, trust your sensei that he is going to mold you in to a powerful unicorn."

Twilight chuckled faintly before leaning against his side, her exhaustion catching up to her. This caught Serpentine off guard, but he allowed it, tucking her in under his wing.

'Mmm... My child now.' Serpentine thought, i only know this child for a day, and now i'm officially making this child mine. No buts ifs or whats.

Before Serpentine could close his eyes and relax, something bright caught his attention, stinging his eyes. His sharp instincts kicked in, and his gaze snapped toward the source.

A faint shimmer appeared in the air above Twilight.

At first, Serpentine assumed it was some kind of residual leftover magic from her training. But this was different. The shimmer began to solidify, its light transforming into a distinct, golden text that floated just in front of her.

"What the—" Serpentine muttered, standing up abruptly.

Twilight blinked, her eyes widening in shock. "Sensei… what’s happening?!"

"I don’t know, but don’t panic," Serpentine said, though his tone betrayed a hint of unease.

The glowing text pulsed softly, as if acknowledging their attention, before it expanded into a full display:

[System Activation Complete]

Welcome, Twilight Sparkle!

Beneath the greeting, additional lines began to appear:

[Stats Updated]

[New Quest Added]

Serpentine’s eyes narrowed as he stepped closer, his wings shifting slightly in tension, before recognizing what the light source is. "Oh. My. Fucking. God." Serpentine’s eyes widened in disbelief, his usually demeanor nonexistant. "No way. No fuckin’ way." his horn sparking slightly as he processed the sight before him. "This can’t be... Is this what I think it is?! Nah, nah. Holy fuck! This is crazy—completely impossible!"

Twilight tilted her head, baffled. "Sensei, Language! Also what are you talking about? You’ve recognize this?"

Serpentine stopped, pointing a hoof dramatically at the display. "Twilight, you—" He hesitated, as if trying to convince himself. "You’ve got the Gamer System."

"The Gamer... what now?" Twilight blinked, still overwhelmed by the strange glowing text and unfamiliar terminology.

Serpentine shook his head, muttering to himself. "No way in all of Hell's gates... Twilight Sparkle, of all ponies, got the goddamn Gamer System? Or... wait. Is this a D&D character sheet? No, no. Too advanced. Definitely a Gamer System."

"Sensei!" Twilight waved her hooves to get his attention, her voice urgent. "You’re not making any sense. What is this? What’s happening to me?"

Serpentine finally stopped pacing and took a deep breath, his eyes narrowing in a mix of excitement and tension. "Alright, listen closely, thy student of mine. This thing, this... interface you’re seeing... it’s something I’ve only heard about in myths and theories from... Sources.

*Cough* Solo Leveling *Cough*.

Serpentine the shook his head before continueing, "It’s called the Gamer System. In essence, it turns your entire life into a structured, game-like experience. Stats, skills, quests—everything about you can now be quantified and leveled up."

Twilight’s jaw dropped. "You mean... I’m like a character in a game?! Like those Video games those nobles have on their... Pad? Some kind of device."

Serpentine nodded slowly, a grin creeping onto his face despite himself. "Pretty much. But if my hunch is correct, it’s not just any game system. This one adapts to the user. Your progress, skills, relationships, and quests are now tied to it."

Twilight turned back to the glowing text, her mind racing. "But why me? I didn’t ask for this!"

"That’s the thing," Serpentine said, his expression thoughtful, his voice tinged with an unusual seriousness. "The Gamer System doesn’t just show up randomly. There’s always a reason. Either it’s tied to your immense potential, or..." His eyes gleamed with intrigue. "Some divine entity out there gave it to you intentionally."

Twilight’s heart raced as she processed his words. "B-but… you said I wouldn’t be diving into divine magic anytime soon!"

Serpentine groaned, rubbing a hoof against his temple. "Yes, yes, I did. But do you remember my lesson about how divine magic works? How it’s achieved?"

Twilight frowned in concentration, her mind flipping through the wealth of knowledge he had imparted. Then her eyes lit up, and she nodded. "It's not made… it’s given by a higher deity or god."

"Exactly," Serpentine said, his tone resigned yet impressed. "And that explains everything… maybe. If this system is divine in origin, then it was granted to you for a purpose. And considering it’s you we’re talking about, that purpose is probably huge." He sighed, the weight of his realization pressing down on him. "Don’t worry, though. I’ve got enough knowledge about divine systems to guide you through this. We’ll figure it out together."

Twilight gave him a nervous but determined look. "O-okay, Sensei. I trust you."

Serpentine’s smirk returned, full of confidence and pride. "That’s my student. Now..." He motioned toward the glowing interface still floating in front of her. "Why don’t you try commanding it to open? Let’s see if it fully responds to you."

Twilight nodded, her curiosity outweighing her confusion. "Uh... please open the Gamer System?"

[Welcome to the Gamer System]

The glowing interface expanded, lines of text and neatly organized charts appearing before Twilight’s eyes. Her jaw dropped.

"Whoa... cool! I can’t believe this. This is... unbelievable. This is—"

"Yes, Twilight," Serpentine interrupted, raising a hoof to calm her excitement. "I get that it’s hard to believe. But focus, my student. There’s a lot to unpack here."

Twilight nodded, "Open Menu."

The text responded immediately, shifting and expanding into a neatly organized interface. Sections labeled Stats, Skills, Relationships, Inventory, and Quests appeared in shimmering golden letters, each pulsing faintly with potential.

"Whoa..." Twilight whispered, her eyes wide as saucers.

"Whoa indeed," Serpentine muttered, his smirk deepening as he stepped closer. "Welcome to a whole new level of magic, egghead. Let’s see what kind of power this system has in store for you."

Twilight blinked and shook her head, her excitement giving way to concentration. She started going through the interface from the, pulling up her Profile.

"Purple Egghead... Really..." she murmured, ignoring her title as to studying the display.

"My Strength is really low... That's to be expected, but my Intelligence and Wisdom are high. That makes sense, I guess. Wait, what is constitution, and what is this Status effects??"

Serpentine leaned in, observing the glowing screen. His sharp eyes scanned every detail, his mind working furiously.

‘Huh, so there really is a hint of DnD’ he thought, frowning slightly. ‘This setup is almost identical to the gamer systems I’ve read about in fanfics. The stats, the skills, the levels...’ He shuddered slightly. Knowing that such a system actually exists, he realized, meant that things might be far more dangerous than he initially thought.

'It really is true, Some divine fucker probably placed this on her just for entertainment. Definetly not Discord, so probably the same person that shoved me in this world.' Serpentine assesed in his thoughts.

Twilight looked up at him, her face glowing with excitement. "Sensei, this is incredible! Does this mean I can level up? Improve my stats? Learn faster?"

Serpentine forced a calm smile, though his thoughts churned beneath the surface. "Yes, Twilight. This system will help you know what you're lacking.. But..." His tone shifted, growing serious, almost foreboding. He stepped closer, his gaze locking onto hers. "You must promise me something first. This is not a suggestion; it’s an absolute rule."

Twilight stiffened, feeling the weight of his words. "W-What is it, Sensei?" she asked nervously.

"You are never to tell anything about this system to anyone. Not Celestia. Not your parents. Not your friends. No one. The only person who can know about this; other than you, is me. Understood?"

Twilight's eyes widened, her heart pounding. The intensity of his tone, the sharpness in his usually teasing gaze—it was like staring into a storm. She hesitated for a moment, her mind racing with questions. Why does sensei want to keep this a secret? She looked into Serpentine’s unwavering expression, she understood.

If this system was as powerful as it seemed, revealing it could bring bad things.

"I... I promise, Sensei," she said, her voice steady despite the terror in her mind. "I won’t tell anyone. Not even Princess Celestia."

Serpentine’s eyes softened slightly, and he gave a heavy sigh, he then ruffled her mane. "Good. Remember, Twilight, this system is a double-edged sword. It can make you strong, but it can also paint a target on your back. There are beings in this world who would do anything to claim power like this for themselves. Until we fully understand what this system is and why it appeared, we must thread it carefully."

Twilight swallowed hard but nodded again. "I understand, Sensei. I trust that you will guide me."

Serpentine smirked faintly, though his thoughts remained troubled. ‘Smart girl. But she’s still too naive to grasp how op this is. This system is a blessing and a curse... Nah, mostly a blessing. And if Celestia or anyone else finds out, they might force her into a destiny she’s not ready for.’

Serpentine nodded, gesturing toward the glowing screen. "Good. Now, check the rest of the system. Let’s see what else it can do."

Twilight swiped her hoof across the interface, navigating to the Relationships tab. Her eyes widened as a new display opened, showing names and bars with numerical values beside them.

[RELATIONSHIPS]

Shining Armor (193/200 – B.B.B.F.F - Love): "Big Brother Best Friends Forever."

Cadance (180/200 – Foal-Sitter - Love ) "The Greatest foal-sitter in all of the history of foal-sitters"

Princess Celestia (130/200 – Princess of Equestria - Admiration): "Ruler of Equestria. Sunbutt"

Night Light (175/200 – Father - Love): "Dada Night Light"

Twilight Velvet (182/200 – Mother - Love): "Mama Twilight"

The Professor (119/200 - Teacher - Professional): "Hates his Job, Is interested in Twilight's growth"

Ms. Quillbook (137/200 - Librarian - Like): "Guardian of the Library"

Serpentine (169/200 – Sensei - Admiration): "The Greatest Portable Teacher"

"Huh," she murmured, tilting her head. "It shows your relationships with people... how strong the bond is. That’s... interesting." She then blushed, feeling sheepish of the titles the system has given to her relationships.

Serpentine leaned closer, his smirk returning as he caught sight of the screen. 'Heh, Sunbutt. I meah she does have Equestria's ass.' he thought

Twilight scrolled down, finding Serpentine’s name listed with a value of 169/200.

"One hundred sixty-nine?" Twilight asked, glancing at him.

Serpentine chuckled, clearly amused. "Nice. Also The Greatest Portable Teacher? Really?" He tapped his muzzle, eyes twinkling. "For someone you’ve only just met, I’d say that’s a pretty high score. Guess you’ve got a lot of faith in me, huh, egghead?"

Twilight flushed slightly but smiled. "Well, you are my Sensei now. And... you’ve already taught me more in a day than I’ve learned in years at school."

Serpentine’s smirk softened into something almost resembling pride. "Good answer. But don’t let it go to your head. Relationships aren’t just numbers, Twilight. They’re built on trust and mutual growth. Keep that in mind."

Twilight nodded, making a mental note of his words as she continued exploring the system. Meanwhile, Serpentine leaned back, silently marveling at the implications of this discovery.

‘If this system tracks her relationships,’ he thought, his mind racing, ‘it might also influence them. This could be... dangerous if she relies too much on it. I’ll have to make sure she understands the importance of forming genuine connections, not just chasing stats.’

Serpentine let out a long sigh as he examined the last section of the interface: Quests. Unlike the other tabs, this one was partially unlocked.

"Quests, huh?" he murmured, "Well, let’s see what you’ve got available."

The interface flickered slightly before revealing two active quests.

[QUESTS]

Main Quest: Leave the Necklace world

"You have been trapped inside the necklace. At least it has someone is here to help you get out."

Rewards: 700 EXP, Unknown (???), Unknown (???).

Hidden Quest: The Gamer’s Awakening

Objective: Investigate the appearance of the Gamer System.

Progress: 20% complete.

Rewards: Unknown (???).

"Well," Serpentine mused, glancing over the sparse list, "looks like you’ve got only two quests to start with."

Twilight sighed, as the glow from the system dimmed slightly. "So my quests are not only to figure out how to leave this necklase? But also, to investigate the system too? Tough break." She rubbed her temple.

Serpentine chuckled, with a teasing glint in his eyes. "Welcome to life, my dear egghead. Nothing but constant grinding of quests for little rewards. A tragic cycle, isn’t it? Once you peak, it’s all downhill from there."

Twilight gave him a deadpan stare.

With a softer expression, Serpentine extended a wing and draped it around her shoulders. "These quests are easy anyway," he said with a confident grin. "I already know how to get us out of this necklace. That’s the easy part. But figuring out this Gamer System? I'll leave it up to you. Should give you a goal for the forseeabel future."

Twilight looked up at him, her exhaustion momentarily overshadowed by a flicker of gratitude. "Thanks, Sensei. I'll make sure i'll be your best student."

"Good, cause you're my first ever student. So, no pressure or anything." Serpentine smirked and ruffled her mane affectionately. "Now, rest up. Once you’ve got your energy back, we’ll make our move."
