The Equestrian Rider
C10 Curiosity City
Previous ChapterNext ChapterDamian had finished his breakfast and was now gazing out of the window at the golden gilded city below.
One of the guards stumbled across the feathery drake and done a double take upon seeing him, the guards-stallion trotted up to Damian and made an attempt to ask him what he was doing in a restricted part of the castle.
“Excuse me sir, you can’t be here. This part of the castle isn’t open to the public, please follow me immediately.”
“Um hi…. Well I’m actually allowed to be here.”
“Sorry sir but lying to a royal guard is a finable offence, please refrain from doing so.”
“Um I’m not, both princesses said I could wonder freely around this place.”
“Is that so? Well if you could please follow me so that I can confirm this mr?”
“Damian.”
“Damian? Well that’s an odd name but I’ve heard odder, so do you have any form of identification with you?”
“Um no, I don’t have any sir.”
“Well thankfully you’re a dragon, so things shouldn’t be too difficult to clear up.”
“Well that’s a relief, after this is all sorted. I’d love to see the city, looks cool.”
“Cool? Not this time of the year, it’s actually getting warmer now.”
“Pfffffffhahahah, sorry but that’s not what I meant. I was saying that it looks good.”
“Oh…. I knew that.”
“So where are we going?”
“To check if you are put down as a guest.”
“Oh, anyway what’s your name?”
“Sergeant Olive Branch.”
“Well Sergeant Olive you seem to be a good guy, what you get up to when you’re not working?”
“That’s none of your business, maybe if your story checks out I’ll tell you.”
“Fair enough….”
Their walk was awkwardly quiet, it took at least two minutes but they were the worst two minutes of Damian’s day.
When the pair eventually ended up at one of the guard stations, the sergeant immediately asked to have his name checked out.
“Well it seems you weren’t lying, apologies for wasting your time sir.”
“That’s not a problem but if you wouldn’t mind, could you perhaps show me to the front door?”
“I don’t see why not, it’s the least I could do for you.”
Damian had a child like grin on his face, he felt like a secret agent that had tricked his enemies into leading him out of their base.
He pondered how much trouble could he get into just for leaving the castle grounds without permission.
He came to the conclusion that as long as he’s back before anyone notices, then it doesn’t really matter because he won’t be in trouble.
Sergeant Olive escorted him to the front gates and Damian thanked him before wondering into the city.
“Woah this place stinks of moola. I wonder what you do for fun when you have this much money?”
The curious drake was letting his eyes blindly drink up the sights, he wasn’t even paying attention to the confused gazes he was getting. Some were because he was a feathered drake and others were because he had just came from the castle.
The only thing that annoyed him was the brick roads, he imagined how fun it would be to ride through here if they had used a level to build the roads.
“Huff* this place is made of marble and gold but they couldn’t build a flat road? How has no one tripped over this shit?”
Whilst Damian walked through the city, eventually coming across the most scenic park he had ever laid eyes on.
Deciding to sit down on a bench that was unoccupied, the out of place dragon just watched peacefully as ponies went about their business.
That was until out of nowhere a frisbee got caught on his ear, this made him jump out of his own skin and fall on his face.
“Oh my gosh dude, I’m sorry for that….”
“….”
“Ehh you’re not dead are you?”
“No…. Just in pain.”
“Yeah about that, sorry man. But it didn’t look that bad?”
“I’m in pain because I just got out of the hospital jerk.”
“Ah shoot, well let me help you up.”
“T-ow thanks and here’s your frisbee, just be careful.”
“Will do man, thanks for being super cool about it.”
The pony trotted off and Damian went back to enjoying the peace.
“Sigh* it wasn’t even his fault I fell on my face….”
“So Mr Damian, do you come here often?”
“Um who are you?”
A cream coloured unicorn mare sat next to him and he scooted over, making some distance between them.
“Oh can’t a princess enjoy a break?”
“Wha…. Princess Celestia? How did you find me? I mean fancy seeing you here, you have a lovely city by the way.”
“Why thank you but I wasn’t expecting to see you here, so how’d you get past my guards?”
“They let me out, I was board of looks from the windows, so I came out here.”
“Well I’m glad you like it, it is the capital after all.”
“Yes but I have a few choice words for the roads…. I’ve only just realised that you don’t have the smooth roads for any sport bikes…. I’ll have to speak with Twilight about making a cafe racer.”
“Well as long as you’re in my sister’s good books, then I’m sure she’ll be more than happy to help you.”
“Yeah she’s really nice you know, I can’t seem to grasp why no one wants to work for her?”
“I might know why but if she hasn’t told you then I’m not going to Damian…. But I must thank you for being so forgiving.”
“Oh come on, like I could really stay mad at her. I’m the idiot for not slowing down, plus you guys got me to a doctor before I was dead.”
“Still…. Thank you…. Sigh* well I must be off now, before anypony notices, see you at the castle Damian.”
“Bye…. Wait you’re not going to tell anyone about me being here? Right? Right?”
She said nothing as the cream coloured unicorn galloped away with a smirk.
“Shit…. I need to get back before she does, fuck.” Jumping off the bench, he ran after her.
He managed to catch up with her as she galloped through the streets, Damian struggled to follow her through the sharp turns.
She’d pulled away in the turns but he’d catch up on the straightaways, just as the gates came into view Celestia pulled away.
“Hey, what’s the matter? Scared you might lose princess?”
“Sorry but I’ve already won, bye bye.”
Pop!!
“What?!?!”
And in a flash, she was gone.
“Look out!!!”
Damian tried to hit the brakes on his new body but ended up sliding straight into the two guards out side the gate.
“What the heck?!”
“Ouch, what hit us?”
“Sorry, that would have been me….”
“Ow don’t push!”
“Should we call for help, sir?”
“And get laughed at, no way private…. So um do you mind explaining why you ran into us buddy? And why I shouldn’t lock you up for assaulting a royal guard.”
“Because I was um…. Rushing to get back to the castle and I’m also a guest of the princesses….” He shot the guard he was muzzle to muzzle with as sheepish smile. “And I’m also sorry to.”
“Sigh* okay just roll off me and then we’ll get everything sorted out.”
“Sir, um hello your highness….”
“Guards, Damian? Need some help?”
“Please.”
“No your highness, we can manage.”
“Help me please, I’m stuck.”
The smug Alicorn helped Damian get off the guards and held him in her aura, she had an amused look on her face.
“Thanks…. Cheater, you can’t just teleport you know….”
“Oh please don’t be such a sore loser Damian, so show sportsman ship.”
When she sat him down, they began to walk away from the two bewildered guards. Damian turned back and yelled another apology before catching up with Princess Celestia’s larger strides.
“How are you feeling?”
“A little sore but other than a few scrapes and bruises, I’m good.”
“That’s a relief, I’d rather not upset Lulu.”
“So where did Lulu come from?”
“Oh um well when a stallion and a mare love each other very.” He jumped to silence her before she could say anything else.
“No no no, not what I meant…. God…. The nickname Lulu, not Luna herself.” He looked to her and saw the small grin. “You are having way too much fun with me, stop it.”
“Oh but you’re adorable when you’re embarrassed.”
“Now you’re sounding like my mum…. Don’t take that in the wrong way Princess.”
“Heheheheheh~.”
“Shut up.”
“So you’re a mummy’s boy?”
He decided to walk faster and she began to speed up to catch him.
This went on until Damian came to a stop and leaned against a pillar, panting for air.
“Are you well Damian, you’ve been extremely active today. Maybe you’ve over done it, here let me carry you.”
“Wha? No it’s…. Fine….” He grumbled that last bit out.
“Oh please, you haven't officially been discharged from the medical ward…. Plus if you struggle, I’ll just make it more embarrassing for you.”
“Garhhh…. Who hurt you?”
“Heheheheheh, no pony, now come on let’s go get you to your bed.”
The princess took Damian through the back passages of the castle and took him to his room, where she laid him on his bed and tucked him in.
She decided to watch him for a few minutes before teleporting away to take care of her duties, the feathery drake had fallen asleep on her back.
Celestia was on her way to her private study when her faithful student came round a corner with a panicked expression painted on her face.
“Princess Celestia! I can’t find Damian and none of the doctors have seen him!! He could be in trouble or passed out somewhere along!!! I’ve just informed the guards but they haven’t found anything yet!”
“Twilight, he’s in his room sleeping. Me and him were talking and he fell asleep, please tell the guard that he’s been located for me…. And spend sometime with your big brother, it’s his day off but he’s still working.”
“Oh but Damian said that he’s speak to me more about how his motorbike didn’t fall over when he was turning?”
“I’m sure you’ll still get to speak to him about that but please, go spend time with your brother.”
“Okay princess. I’ll have a friendship report for you by the end of the day, bye!” And Twilight rushed off to find her brother.
Meanwhile Damian was happily napping in his room, he hadn’t fully fallen asleep but he was close. That was until he hear the door to his room opened and to his horror, it was the rainbow maned mare.
Rainbow Dash.
What was she doing here. he thought to himself, frozen in fear.
That was until she left a basket on the night stand, it looked like an apology basket. But before he could say anything, she flew out and she was gone like a drag bike.
Damian now on high alert, go up and investigate the basket, it contained a bunch of chocolates and some gems and a book….
“Dummies guide for flying?” It was scribbled on in crayon, so Damian gave it a rub and the book was actually called.
“flying 101, huh didn’t think she could read…. Well I guess she wasn’t going to silence me…. Heh heh heh?”
He was very confused but understood that she was trying to make up for attacking him.
“I guess I can accept this offering…. But I am most certainly not forgiving her, mhmmmm~ where to start with the chocolate?”
The feathered drake picked up a large chocolate bar in a foil rapper and unwrapped it, just before taking a bite of it. A thought hit him.
“Will this kill me?”
He remembered that dogs weren’t supposed to have chocolate because it could block up their air ways and he decided to get a second opinion.
Opening the door and looking around he sees a maid and waves her down, she happily approaches.
“How can I be of assistance to you sir?”
“Um you wouldn’t happen to know if dragons can safely eat chocolate, do you?”
“Um they can as far as I know of, no…. But I can check with a doctor if you want….”
The maid’s brain froze In place as she watched the Drake before her shrugged, unwrapped the chocolate and took a bite out of it.
“Mhmmmmmm that’s good, you want some?”
“Um no thank you sir, now if you don’t mind. I gotta get back to work.”
“Oh um no problem, I just had a question. Chomp*.”
The maid looked at his teeth as he devoured the chocolate before her eyes, she went three shades lighter and backed up before getting back to her job.
“Nom* nom* mmmmm nom* that was good, bye!”
“Um good bye sir….”
He closed the door behind him and helped himself to the food.
“She was nice. But this chocolate is nicer.”
