Chapters Jolt Awdry
The air was crisp and dry as the old raggedy front door of the bar swung open, as soon as a space wide enough for someone to walk through opened up a light purple Pegasus with dark purple hair and glowing green eyes emerged. He looked over to a small red leathered bar stool and then fixed his large bulky glasses. He quietly stepped over to the red leathered bar stool and then sat upon it, it let out an ear shattering screech as its rusty bars turned over so the Pegasus could face the bar.
He silently cleared his throat and then tapped the base of his bar stool in order to get the attention of the sleeping bar tender. As soon as the Pegasus’s hoof tapped the bar stool the sleeping light yellow earth pony shot up and gasped for air as if he had awoken from a nightmare, he then rubbed his light green eyes and stroked his dark red mustache as He then wobbled over to the front of the bar and yawned loudly “oh so sorry son, I was just um…” he then fell into an awkward silence as if time was catching up to him. The light purple Pegasus nodded “it’s okay, I’m going to need some apple cider” the young Pegasus told the tired bar tender.
The red mustached colt slowly nodded “okay, so you new in Ponyville?” the bartender asked the thirsty Pegasus,as he then motioned over to the old wooden cabinets and picked up a large glass jug. The dark haired Pegasus then nodded “you got it, and I must say this towns hospitality is just amazing. Right when I get to town some pink mare starts singing a song, and even takes the time out of her day to throw a party. You ponies make me feel like some sort of super star” he told the slow moving bar tender who was pouring him the sweet and shiny gold apple cider.
The bartender then handed the glorious apple cider to the young Pegasus and once again yawned “well sounds like you met Pinkie Pie, I guess I should welcome you as well I’m Flam” Flam greeted the Pegasus “and might I ask what’s your name son?” The tired Flam then asked the young Pegasus. The pony then nodded his head “I’m Jolt, Jolt Awdry” he answered Flam.
Flam slowly and raggedly nodded his head “id introduce you to my brother, but he’s off trying to invent some new flavored sider in hopes that it’ll get this bar running” Flam then told him as Jolt started to gulp down the amazingly delectable Apple cider “but any ways, what brings you to this part of Equestria son?” Flam then asked the young Pegasus as he was curious about his sudden appearance in this small little town. Jolt then pulled out a small broacher from the tuck of the feathers of his wings “this is why, wonder bolt camp” he told Flam with pure joy in his voice. The symbol of the wonder bolts was printed on the front of the broacher, as it said in big bold yellow letters ‘WOUNDER BOLT CAMP! Come on down, if you want to be a better flyer we’ll make you one, and at the end of a one month time period we will get the best flyer and make them a honorary wonder bolt’. Flam’s eyes grew wide with some surprise as he didn’t expect this young Pegasus to be one of athletic ability.
Jolt then let out a small sigh as if he could already imagine himself with the wonder bolts, wearing their light blue inform with its trademark lightning bolt made Jolt cringe a bit with pure excitement. Flam patted Jolt on his head hopefully to awake him from his fantasy world “come on boy, this is the wonder bolts the best flyers in Equestria, no offense but you don’t really look like the sporty type” Flam told Jolt as he quickly pointed out his thin feathers and scrawny legs. Jolt then just chuckled and quickly rolled his eyes “I know I know, but this is my one and only chance to join the wonder bolts and by Celestia I’m going to take it!” Jolt told the worried old colt “besides why are you so worried about a pony you just met?” Jolt then asked Flam. Flam just quietly shrugged “I don’t know kid, I just don’t like the thought of any pony being hurt. Son I used to be on top of the world with some old invention me and my brother had, and next thing I know were out of business. Now I’ve met some of the lowest scum and I’ve seen alout of ponies get hurt I just don’t want it to happen again, you get my drift?” Flam then asked the curious young Pegasus.
Jolt quickly nodded as he then hoped off the red leathered bar stool “listen Flam, just don’t worry” he assured him as he then put the wonder bolt camp broacher on the counter “tell you what, in exactly one month after camp is over I’m going to come back here and pick this up” he told him as Jolt then motioned to the front door of the bar “now you hold onto that broacher, because I’m going to be back for it” he told Flam as he slowly walked out. Flam then let out a small sigh “uh…okay then, be careful kid” he whispered silently as he then grabbed the broacher and pushed it in a secret compartment under the counter, and then sat back in his old wooden chair and closed his eyes as Flam then continued his quiet nap.
Jolt slowly walked away from the old broken down bar as he then looked up to the skies of Equestria and took in a deep breath of fresh air. He let the air fill his lungs as if to fill him with unstoppable energy, Jolt then pushed against the soft dirt floor and propelled himself up into the air. He extended his wings and started to soar off. He looked across the endless distance of the land in search of the flying and majestic city of Cloudsdale. He smiled slightly as he then realized that he could leave his old worthless life behind and starts a new life, one of fame and greatness the one he knew he finally had the chance of having.
Chapter 2
After the sun finally set in the far distances Jolt landed on a nearby cloud, as the golden light of the falling sun shined brightly it started to engulf Jolt in a warm and comfortable blanket of sunshine. Jolt soon found himself sinking into the cloud which he laid upon, he let out a long and powerful Yawn as he felt his eyes start to get heavier and heavier as in the next minute or two he was fast asleep. As he lay on the extremely comfortable cloud he started to snore silently as he dreamt about joining the wonder bolt’s, he dreamt that he soared beside Spit Fire and even the wonder bolt that he idolized the fast and fantastic Soarin, he dreamt that he was pulling of the famous Buckner Blaze as the mass crowd cheered beside him.
But before he could continue his wonderful fantasy he was shook awake by a blurry figure, “hey! Come on buddy get up!” the figure shouted in a fairly young voice as it started to lightly shake Jolt. Jolt then shook his head to try and wake himself up so he could get a better look at the figure “huh-…what’s going on?” Jolt asked with and hazed and tired voice. The blurry figure finally came into focus as it turned out to be yet another Pegasus; he had a light brown pelt and a dark brown mane with light red eyes, “come on man get up” the light brown Pegasus demanded as he continued to shake Jolt slightly. Jolt then pushed himself up as he then shook his head to make sure he was fully awake “why? I’m just sleeping here” Jolt told the slightly rude Pegasus. The light brown Pegasus just stared at him with his big red eyes with a confused look on his face “what? Are you serious? Dude you’re in the middle of a race track unless you want to be flown over I suggest you get up!” the Pegasus told Jolt as he then flew off the supposedly dangerous cloud and called for Jolt, demanding him to come over.
Jolt just stared at him as he was a bit skeptical about this Pegasus’s story about him sleeping on a race track “yeah right, this isn’t no race track! It’s just a cloud in the middle of the sky! Who do you think you are just waking me up and barking out order?” Jolt asked with a tired and very irritated voice. The light brow Pegasus just shook his head “if this isn’t a race track, then what the heck that coming towards you?” the Pegasus yelled at Jolt as he pointed his hoof toward some distant shapes. Jolt turned around and looked at the oncoming figures, it seemed that the closets one seemed to be a light blue as it started to get closer and closer. *BANG* a loud boom erupted from the figure as a rainbow like explosion burst from the light blue figure.
Jolt gasped silently as he quickly hoped to the cloud where the light brown Pegasus sat as he continued to yell and scream at Jolt as the light blue figure quickly zoomed by, it barely missed Jolt as it left a large bright rainbow trail behind it. The light brown Pegasus took a deep breath of relief “Record, Record Swoop” the Pegasus told Jolt, Jolt then looked up at the red eyed Pegasus and slightly tilted his head in confusion “wh- what?” Jolt asked him as he continued to try and regain his breath. The Pegasus then looked down at Jolt and stuck out his hoof so he could help him up “my name is Record, Record Swoop” Record told Jolt as he then helped Jolt up to his hooves’.
Jolt nodded slightly as he was still a little hazed after nearly escaping what could’ve been a serious accident, Record patted Jolt on the head with a slight grin on his face “so what’s a pony like you doing in the skies of the wonder bolts?” he asked him. Jolt then fixed his glasses and cleared his throat “I’m just looking for the wonder bolt camp” Jolt told Record Swoop. The grin on Record’s face then erupted in a humongous smile as he then burst out in tears and laughter “oh Celestia! You are going to wonder bolt camp? But I mean just look at yourself!” he told Jolt in between chuckles. Jolt just rolled his eyes at the rude Pegasus’s comment “I know I’ve heard it all before, but I’m going to at least try” he told Record Swoop with a strict voice.
Record just nodded quickly “okay then, if you really want to get yourself killed I guess I should welcome you” he told Jolt with a large smile witch riddled across his light brown face. Jolt just silently stared at him for a couple seconds before he finally asked “um welcome me where?” ,Record just rolled his eyes with a slight grin know on his face “to wonder bolt camp man, heck your standing right above it” he told Jolt. Jolt just looked around with a confused look ”uh what?-“ he asked before Record Swoop quickly pushed him off the cloud and sent him hurdling to the ground below. Jolt let out a terrified screech of pure fear as he then closed his eyes and covered his face, ”dude you can get up now” a voice told Jolt. Jolt then looked up from his hooves’ only to find that he had only fallen a couple feet and landed in front of a large gate with some of the wonder bolts posters dangling from the walls. Jolt then looked around and fully examined his surroundings “oh um, this wouldn’t happen to be wonder bolt camp?” he asked with an embarrassed grin, he then turned his head to look at the new voice which had spoken to him. And who was this voice; well it was the one and only Soarin the hero that Jolt had idolized since his days as a young colt.
Soarin then slowly nodded ‘yeah, and congratulations newbie you managed to embarrass yourself in front of every Pony at camp on your first day” he told Jolt as an eruption of laughter and mockery soon followed Soarin’s words. Jolt then sighed and pulled himself up “great…” he said in an annoyed voices Record then landed beside him with a large grin on his face and an innocent looking his eyes “what’s up?” He asked right before Jolt shot him a dirty look for causing him to be a huge laughing stock on the first day of camp. Record then quickly patted Jolts head “I can see this as the beginning of a beautiful friendship can’t you?” Record asked him, Jolt then sighed quietly “…sure”.
Chapter 3
Record Swoop and Jolt both walked around the incredibly large wonder bolts camp as they both heard the silent chuckles of their fellow campers, Jolt let out a small sigh and hung his head “is there a place I can go to sleep?” Jolt asked Record as he then let out a small yawn. Record Swoop quickly nodded his head “there sure is, come on maybe there are some rooms left. Record walked to a nearby building and walked in for a couple minutes as Jolt waited outside. As Jolt waited outside the front door of the building he soon saw a familiar figure, it was that light blue Pegasus that nearly killed him earlier, “hey! Hey you!” he yelled to the light blue mare with pure rage in his normally quiet voice. She then turned around to face the extremely furious Jolt “huh? Yes what do you want?” she asked Jolt with a confused look on her face.
Jolt then flew up to her “you almost killed me on the race track earlier how about you watch where you’re going next time!” he demanded as he slightly poked her chest as to make a point. She then smacked his hoof away and gave him a dirty look “I don’t think I like your tone very much...wait a minute I know you, you’re that guy who fell two feet and then screamed like he was being murdered earlier” she pointed out as she then began to chuckle silently “man I’m sorry if I may or may not have hurt you earlier” she told Jolt as she then started to fly away from him before he could respond.
Jolt just sighed and flew back to the building as he was then greeted by a chuckling Record Swoop with a sly smile “so first day of camp and your already trying to make the moves on Dash” he said as he then walked over to Jolts side. Jolt blushed slightly and pushed Record away “dude shut up I wasn’t trying anything like that” he told him as he then shook his head as if t wipe away his blushed face “so where will I be staying?” he asked him. “well I got good news and bad news, the bad news is there are no more rooms left, but the good news is that I got some free space at my place if you want to crash with me” he told Jolt with a small smile. Jolt sighed yet again as he then grabbed his suit case “let’s go” he told Record Swoop. Record Swoop then smiled brightly a he grabbed Jolts bags and zoomed up into the air “come on let’s go, go, go, go!” he said as he then waited for Jolt to catch up.
the front door of Record Swoops apartment quickly flew open as it then smashed against the soft cloud walls “alright the kitchens up ahead, the living room is left of the kitchen you can sleep on the couch and the bathroom, well just go while you’re sitting on a cloud and it will just fall right through” Record Swoop told Jolt as he then flew inside the fairly large apartment. Jolt soon followed him as he then landed on the plush cloud floor “is everything in Cloudsdale made of clouds?” Jolt asked Record Swoop as they both dropped their luggage. Record then looked backed at Jolt with a face of slight disbelief “what no, it’s just in the fragging name” he said sarcastically as he then flew into the living room.
Jolt then followed him into the living room and then plopped himself on the nearby couch and laid his head on the light fluffy pillow “so Record what we going to do?” Jolt asked him. Record Swoop then shrugged “I don’t know I don’t got any books or games, but I guess we could tell stories” he told Jolt as he then flew over to couch as well and sat down before he moved Jolts legs so he could make room. Jolt lowly nodded “sure why not” he said as he then pushed himself up so Record could have more room. Record then looked over to Jolt “hey how bout you tell me where you came from, you know tell me your story, who is Jolt Awdry?” Record Swoop suggested with a small optimistic grin. Jolt sighed and looked up to Record Swoop “um I don’t know it’s kind of personal” he told him with an uncomfortable expression on his face. Record then nodded “ok I understand, but what if I tell you my story then will you talk?” he asked him with a slight grin. Jolt sighed then slowly nodded “ok then fine tell me your story”.
Record Swoop quickly nodded with a huge grin on his face “I used to live down there in Ponyville, I lived on Sugarcube corner and spent my days selling donuts, glazed, chocolate, vanilla, double glazed, ah it was the life” Record Swoop said with a weir expression as if he could actually see the memories flash before him. “Then she came to my stand, her bright pink coat and fluffy pink mane, the bought a couple doughnuts and then went on her way. After that I couldn’t wait to get to work as she started to show up every day, we usually made small talk as we made our business exchanges, but I swear every conversation we had had a special lamb in my heart” he Told Jolt as he still kept that bewitched look on his face. “eventually I had the courage to ask her to a cup of coffee after the summer sun celebration, she quickly agreed” he said as his expression started to change “so I skipped the celebration and waited at the café for her, but she never showed up I was left alone at that table alone. I heard that something went down at the library and that was the reason she didn’t come, but she stopped coming to my doughnut stand and I never saw her again. So I sold the doughnut stand and moved to Cloudsdale and… here I am” he sighed as he held his head in a silent depression.
Jolt nodded slowly and patted his back “yeah I guess I could tell you mine” he said to the quietly depressed Record Swoop. “I was just a simple colt, my mother and father gave me away because they were too young to take care of a child, the couple that raised me was very nice. But I was usually picked on by my classmates; they called me the typical name’s that a none athletic pony would be called twig, lousy piece of shit, but to me none of that really mattered. But then my foster parents died in a train crash. And I was sent to an orphanage, and from then on things just got worse and worse I couldn’t finish school I couldn’t find a job and the name calling was then just replaced by mindless beatings, they stabbed me in the eye with a wooden stick! And now I got to wear these freaking glasses” He told Record Swoop as some tears started to form in his eyes. “Every single day was just a living hell, but that’s when I saw it, the wonder bolts preforming live. Seeing their amazing stunts and awesome acrobats was one of the best moments of my life and right as I cheered in the crowd, Soarin looked up to me and said ‘ kid you can do whatever you want if you try hard enough ‘ he said to me. And I just never gave up after that the beatings didn’t even matter to me anymore, and then I found a broacher for wonder bolt camp. But it just wasn’t a broacher it was an opportunity to start my life all over again, so here I am” Jolt told Record Swoop with a face of accomplishment and confidence.
Record just looked at him as a small grin started to form on his face as he hoped of the couch and on the cloud floor “well then I guess I’ll be right behind yah, I don’t really want to be a wonder bolt any way’s I just want to take some time off” he told Jolt as he then yawned and flew up to his room “well goodnight Jolt try to get some rest cause tomorrow is when hell really hits you down”. Jolt just looked up to where Record Swoop once stood as his eyes started to grow heavy “night…” he yawned as he then curled up on the couch and then closed his eyes and slowly fell off into a deep sleep.
