Author's Note

This story does take place in 2024
First three chapters are to set up characters, story, and setting as best as possible.
This is my second clop story due to ADHD and my IRL schedule I have random intervals of inspiration and post time.

Chapter 1

Letting out a groan Jason pushed himself up from a bed looking around his room he noted that nothing was different, but he still felt off somehow, as he sat on the edge of the bed Jason rubbed his face trying to figure out just why his head was trying to split in half. Also how did he get home? He had been running through the park after one of his father's rousing lay ins which was the only reason he was allowed back home by his father which involved Jason being told 'You are useless as a Grant!' 'Grants are supposed to be leaders and set examples!' 'Why aren't you like your siblings!' after which Jason excused himself to go out and run. He either did that or played a game known as Canterlot U an adult dating sim, he wanted a break from the house and everyone though, so he left and ran...........and about twenty minutes in a truck had swerved to miss a dog only to hit him.

"How the fuck am I alive?" Jason asked as he slowly got out of the bed his head hammering in protest at his movements he whispered, "What the hell is going on?"

Slowly walking down, the hallway he quickly made his way into the bathroom and after a couple minutes of hyping himself up the young man took the plunge and looked into the mirror. What he saw was his normal look, nothing was missing, and nothing seemed out of place leaning into the sink Jason let out a small groan and murmured "Thank god I'm still me.........but how the fuck am I still alive?"

"It's too early in the morning for this Jay get out so I can shower." an unfamiliar female voice snapped at him jumping up Jason was about to yell when he noticed standing in the doorway was a pristine white alicorn pony, her spliced bronze and gold eyes glared at him.

Gaping at her Jason recognized that mare she was Daybreaker a character from Canterlot U feeling his jaw go slack he tried to think of something to say anything but was quickly sidetracked when he noticed she was wearing a tank top two size too small and short shorts that acted more like panties than anything else. Feeling his face burn from what he was seeing the mare rolled her eyes and said "If you aren't going to use the bathroom yah mind getting out?"

"Uh yeah yeah I can." Jason said moving out of the mare's way as she walked into bathroom, he found himself staring at the back of her flaming mane which was a deep crimson. His view was quickly interrupted by the bathroom door snapping shut which caused him to flinch a little backing away he turned and raced into his room, logging onto his computer Jason saw that everything was the same all the apps and social media. Quickly logging onto them Jason began to look through his social media which was the same depressing posts of him seeing movies, eating out, beaching..........everything alone. Closing them all Jason thought 'So I'm crazy? Maybe I'm in a coma.........well there's only one way to tell.' walking over to the edge of the table Jason took a deep breath and rammed his knee hard into the bottom of the desk letting out a yelp of pain he fell clutching the knee while saying "SHIT!"

Rolling over onto his side Jason held the injured joint while biting his lip he screwed his eyes shut and thought 'OH GOD ITS REAL!' hearing someone coming to his room Jason saw Daybreaker dressed in black jeans and a white T-shirt looking down at him mildly concerned she asked "What happened?"

"I uh I hit my knee on the desk getting ready." Jason said slowly pulling himself up onto the bed sighing the mare lit up her horn and cast a quick healing spell. Feeling the pain going away Jason sighed and flexed the knee a few times and gave it a few test swings before standing up, smiling at her Jason said "Thanks a lot.......Day."

"It's no biggie," Daybreaker said as she placed her hands on her hips a sad smile coming to her lips she continued "After all I owe you a lot more for letting me live with you."

"Pffft it's no big deal." Jason said as he remembered a small detail of Daybreaker she'd been on the street when the main character living by himself offered her to live with him. Frowning Jason wished he could remember the rest but soon a pink screen popped up infront of his face ' All will be revealed after all its far more fun to play a game for the first time ever, but you will get an aid.'

Raising an eyebrow at the screen it quickly disappeared but when Jason looked at Daybreaker the same screen blew up 'Daybreaker. Affinity 48, Strength 80, intelligence 80, speed 77. Must raise Affinity to 70 or higher before relationship can be started, suggest walk her to school.' confused by the screen Jason said "Btw have you had breakfast yet, maybe we can walk to the bakery and pick some stuff up on the way to school?"

"Uh no I haven't........and I'd like that very much Jason." Daybreaker said as a blush slowly formed on her cheeks smiling at her Jason motioned to the door and asked "Mind giving me a minute to change?"

"Afraid I might jump ya?" Daybreaker joked flashing her fangs for him to see smirking back he shook his head.

"More afraid that I may blind you with my pasty skin."

"Hehe okay I'll give you a moment." Daybreaker said as she turned and left the room.

Once she left Jason heard two distinct *PING**PING* sounds, thinking of the menu it quickly popped up, reading through it the menu was simple at the top were four tabs. Stats, Characters, Items, and Missions, seeing a red heart over Characters Jason clicked the tab and saw Daybreaker's name clicking on it he saw that the affinity had gone up four points to 52. Smiling he was happy about the outcome due to its meaning Daybreaker was coming around to him, but his happiness was interrupted by a voice in his head which murmured darkly 'A loser like you getting her will never happen, cut your losses and accept you'll never be loved. '

Shaking his head he tried to ignore the voice but what it said stuck to him a bit quickly getting dressed Jason raced out into the living room to see Daybreaker waiting for him, a black leather jacket now being worn. She had black lipstick and eyeshadow highlighting her eyes slung over one shoulder was a satchel smiling at she asked "What took you so long?"

"Huh oh yeah sorry couldn't find my bag." Jason murmured as he hefted the bag towards the mare sighing, she turned and walked out the door.

Stepping outside the two began walking towards the school are to which Jason questioned how he knew where he was going but quickly squelched that thought for fear of his mind breaking, but as they walked Jason began to take in the surroundings noting that a lot of the town, he'd seen in the game was real. Flying above him were Pegasi moving clouds and heading about personal business, Unicorns could be seen levitating items for either work or to keep their hands free and he saw earth ponies selling goods or shopping and mixed among them were humans, feeling a little crazy Jason watched as a Unicorn stallion and some human girl kissed before separating and going their separate ways. Feeling someone punch his arm Jason looked over to see Daybreaker glaring at him he said "Sorry I'm a little out of sorts.........had family dinner night."

"Oh yeah.......I take it uh didn't go great?"

"Just the usual ya know?" Jason said forcing a smile onto his face to which Daybreaker returned but he could see hurt in her eyes.

"I know, my mother left a wonderful message for me last night, still don't know how she got my new number. I went to talk to you, but you were gone."

"Oh yeah, I was out running." Holding a door open to Sugar Cube Cafe the two entered brushing her mane from one of her eyes Daybreaker nodded and tapped his chest.

"Well whatever that idiot said ignore it you'll be twi-NO five times the man he'll ever dream of being."

"Same to you Day, you're a great mare and whatever you mother said I bet she's just angry you're out in the world thriving." Jason said and without a thought he wrapped an arm around Daybreakers shoulders and brought her in for a hug which she returned slightly.

"Wow can't believe we've been living together for almost five months?" Daybreaker asked as she pulled away from the man nodding sagely Jason remembered that when the game started the two had been living under the same roof for almost a year.

"Time flies when you're having fun," Jason said looking at the line he noticed that it was moving rather quickly as a pink haired and skinned woman was running the front, Pinkie Pie she was a highbred of ponies and people having human body she sported a tail and pony ears while also the colors that were usually associated with Equestrians.

"I was thinking maybe we should celebrate. Maybe do something as a six-month anniversary?"

"Oh really, don't you think that would be to early?" Daybreaker asked slowly looking up at Jason who shrugged

"Well, I think it'll be good for us maybe brighten our days a bit, cause I've enjoyed our time together it's been...............nice." Jason said looking away from Daybreaker as he said that a heavy blush coming to his face in a bit of embarrassment.

"I like that we should get a cake, plus without you I'd probably be freezing my ass off in some alley." Daybreaker answered her voice soft and a little husky with repressed emotions, she had noticed Jason's blush and was reacting accordingly.

Soon the two were at the counter and ordering food with Jason refusing to allow Daybreaker to pay stating that it was his treat and to treat his favorite roommate he would need to pay for the meal, which Daybreaker fired back stating she was his only roommate at the moment. Chuckling the two continued to fire comeback after comeback at each other, soon though the two stopped joking as they approached the college campus pulling out the schedules both had at least three classes together on Monday's, Tuesday's and Friday's which meant they both would be in a Ms. Quills calculus class at 8:00 am smiling Jason said "C'mon let's get to class and grab the good seats."

"Can't argue there," Daybreaker murmured around her breakfast burrito pointing at the entrance the two began walking through the halls. Gaping at the size of the entrance hall Jason couldn't believe the size and build of the whole facility, everything looked magnificent like the school was made just for nobles and the riches assholes of the world............of course it was but that was before they were forced to open enrollment to the commonfolk about fifty years ago.

Giggling at his reaction Daybreaker was about to say something when Jason collided with a one of the students falling atop them, he felt his face in between something firm and soft wrapped around his face. Quickly realizing just where he was the man snapped straight up and looked around seeing a few other students giggling at him doing his best to ignore them Jason looked down to find a young unicorn woman on the ground glaring up at him. Offering his hand Jason embarrassingly scratched his cheek as the woman took his hand, she had a purple coat and a deep indigo mane and tail, with her mane having a small pink streak in it smiling sheepishly Jason said "I'm so sorry about that miss I didn't mean to knock you over."

"It's fine.........but you really should watch where you are going." the mare said as she took the hand and pulled herself up off the floor sighing Jason nodded a small frown coming to his face. During this Daybreaker had slipped away heading towards the original goal of Ms. Quills classroom.

"I know and I do apologize about that, I'm Jason Grant and you are?"

"Twilight Sparkle........your name sounds familiar." Twilight murmured as she dusted off her sweater vest and skirt Jason decided he didn't want to waste any more time, so he spun around Twilight while saying "Uh yeah it's just one, but I gotta get to class before I'm late."

"I uh understand?" Twilight said slightly confused as the young man disappeared around the same corner as Daybreaker had done earlier. Staring after him she thought 'What a strange guy, I wonder if I'll see him again?'

As Jason walked into Ms. Quills class, he saw that she had already found a place to seat at the back right corner next to the window which she had already occupied the closest seat to said window. Sliding in next to her Jason gave the mare a wondering look too which she ignored as she was busy looking out onto the campus, sighing he didn't really get it but figured it had something to do with him knocking Twilight over. Pulling out some supplies and getting ready to start taking notes and get the class rolling when he saw another alicorn with a pristine white coat, pale rainbow mane and tail wearing a simple white collared shirt and dress pants, she looked around the room for a moment and caught sight of Jason. But he knew her eyes weren't on him at that moment turning to Daybreaker he saw that she hadn't even bothered to look away from the window taking a breath Jason asked "Uh Day you gonna be okay?"

"I'll be fine Jay," Daybreaker said her voice flatter than a pancake this reminded Jason whenever people would ask him what was wrong after reward shows or whatever championship his siblings were dominating, he also knew that he hated when people pried to much so he let it lie where it was.

*PING**PING**PING* Thinking about the menu Jason looked up Daybreakers stats 'Daybreaker Affinity 58' realizing he had made the right move, Jason nodded and decided he would try a simple gesture placing his hand on top of the desk Daybreaker placed hers atop and murmured "Thanks Jay."

"No problem, I'm always here if you need me." Jason whispered back a smile coming to his face as he saw Daybreaker had her own smile forming.

Soon Ms. Quill was in the classroom and started into the first day lightening quick launching into the first lessons of the term, barely keeping up Jason wrote everything down and did his best not to fall behind as Ms. Quill went over the equations that would be making up the first four lessons and when she as she was rounding up to end the lesson for the day. She then informed the class that the curriculum would be waiting at the front of the class and for anyone or any pony that wished to do good in her class would grab one before exiting.
