“You wanna read about me huh? So be it...”

Before we get this big whopping adventure started it would probably help if you know what I looked like. Well I have a bright orange coat. Not exactly the most subtle natural color for the wastes, but it’s the only one I got and I don’t like scissors, so I’m not gonna cut it. My mane is a dark black. I got a lot of Nightmare Night jokes when I was younger and when I actually had other fillies and colts as friends. But I usually scared them off. I was never the most normal kid in my tiny village. See, I always had strange dreams at night and that always made me a little strange. My mother said that her mother used to have odd dreams as well. She talked about how we got it from one of our pre-war ancestors. A pony who always was an oddball in her time who was obsessed with the things the dreams showed her. I can’t say I’m that much different. I see so many strange things I can’t help it. Sometimes I see the same thing multiple times. It really stays burned into my brain, you know? Other times I see or hear things so amazing I just have to say them in real life. One creature with a blond mane and black sunglasses says things that are incredibly vulgar, but obviously intimidating and cool.

Anyway, I live in an old stable I found when I was just a colt. My village was attacked by slavers. They were accompanied by griffon mercenaries. An angry looking unicorn with blood covered armor stormed into the house at night and took my mom and pop. Now I was always a very strong kid, I could pull more than most kids and I could do it for much longer. My mom, who was an ex stable dweller, said it had something to do with taking points away from charisma for strength and endurance or something like that. Never made much sense to me. It sounded a little like some of the dreams I had, but I never really thought about it much. But I suppose it came in handy when being attacked by those slavers. The unicorn tried putting me in chains, but I broke them in the struggle. Then he pulled a gun. I had only ever seen a gun when the village sheriff needed to put down some rowdy drugged up pony who wandered in. Well that slaver pointed the gun right at my head and fired. I was sure I was dead. I felt a burning pain right between my eyes before I hit the ground. I could hear my mother screaming my name as The unicorn yanked them out of our house. My father just sort of cried as he looked at me. That was the last thing I remembered as I closed my eyes.

I came to a while later. It was hot all around me and took me a second before I noticed the house was on fire. I bolted out the door to see my entire village engulfed in flames. I was so crushed I just stood there. In the middle of my town as it burned. I couldn't stay for long though as some nasty radigators had crawled up from the swamp. I guess the fire and all the smell of blood attracted them. Looks like I wasn't the only one who put up a struggle, but I didn't even have time to see who it was. I couldn't even identify the bodies before I had to run. It was clear the damn things were starving too. They were practically killing each other over those bodies. It was pretty obvious I was next. A few of them eyed me as I took off. Those damn things were quick; they chased after me for what felt like miles. I tried yelling for help but I knew no one was coming. So I kept on running until I hit a cave at the top of a hill. I dashed in as fast I could but they still followed me. The beasts were persistent. I decided to run deeper into the cave. Whatever was in there had to be better than being eaten by radigators. It was dark but I could make out the letters on the stable door.

I remember this next part clear as day. I stopped as I looked back to see the gators who were closing in on me. This was the first time I got a good look at them. They couldn’t have been very old and they weren’t the largest of the group, but it was obvious they meant business. I looked at the vault door and moved to the right to get inside. It was strange how much metal there was, but I had no time to think about that. I darted up the small staircase to the terminal on the left to see if I could shut the door. It had long since been smashed to bits. The radigators began to slide through the door; I was practically hyperventilating, they started to the stairs. I looked around, If I tried to get inside the vault they would pounce on me. I stepped back, crashing into the broken lockers knocking them over. The loud ruckus got them to step back. That’s when I found it, I had never really been good at anything. I always wondered when I would get my cutie mark. I never thought it would be like this.

It landed right in front of me. It must have been on top of one of the lockers. But it was here in front of me now. The powerhoof. I don’t know how but I knew exactly what it was. I scrambled to pick it up and slide my hoof inside. As soon as I did the air cushions expanded to fit around my small hoof. The second I had it all the way on one of the radigators pounced at me. Without a second thought I swung that hunk of metal right in that monster’s face. Clean decapitated it. The blood splattered all over me. I didn't need a pipbuck or a doctor to tell me that I was soaking up the radiation from it. I was in shock but I couldn’t stop, the next one jumped at me. He suffered the same fate as the first. Now my blood was boiling, and unbelievable rage seeped into me. There were two more in front of me. They had obviously learned from the first two jumping to their deaths on my hoof. So this time I charged them. I shouted the first thing that popped into my mind. One of the things the blond creature in my dreams said.

“Eat shit and die!” I reared back, dropping the powerhoof on the radigator's head. It splattered everywhere. The last one took a step back from me. It knew it had taken on more than it could handle. I turned and stepped closer, sneering at it.

“I’m not gonna fight you. I’m gonna kick your ass.” I said, recalling another line from my dream. I quickly hopped forward and swung my hoof to the side, hitting the damned monster on the side of the head. It spun like crazy and it probably would have been quite an amusing sight if I wasn’t so infuriated. It slammed against the stable door. I panted and wheezed. Between the running and the four radigators I had just went a round with I could collapse right there. But then I saw a blinding light from behind me. I felt an incredible power surging through me. My cutie mark was appearing. I looked at my flank. It looked just like the powerhoof I was wearing except cleaner. It was obvious mine had seen a bit of action already. I wanted to be happy. I wanted to be so happy that I had finally got my cutie mark. But I couldn’t muster a smile or anything. I just panted as my legs gave out and I lied on the cold metal floor of the stable. I looked at the radigator I had sent into a spin. It was still barely alive, it crawled to me, but I knew it wasn't gonna make it. Now I smiled. For some reason I smiled. The dying animal in front of me actually got me to smile.

“You’re beautiful when you’re dyin’...” I recited weakly. Another line from my dreams. Dreams I was about to visit again as my eyes closed just in time to see the gator’s demise. When I got up, I would have to start a new life in the vault on my own.

When I awoke I walked around a bit to find none other than a real pipbuck. It was a little big for me, but it reminded me of my mother’s. I slipped it on and again, the cushions of it expanded as well to fit my upper hoof. I looked at it as it blinked ‘analyzing’ over and over in the middle of the screen. I supposed it was scanning me or something. All I knew was my mother loved hers, so it had to be good for something. It finished ‘analyzing’ and it showed my current state of health. Strange things appeared in my vision that told me what direction I was facing and it even knew my only item on my person was my new powerhoof. This thing was pretty neat.

Other than my first encounter with my pipbuck, I filled most of the days there with bland tasks. Mostly punching at the air, practicing with my powerhoof and imitating some of the moves I saw in my dreams. I chose the largest room for my bedroom just so I could practice moves without damaging my new home. But one of the best things had to be the cafeteria. It was filled with so much food. This place had obviously been untouched by raiders and bandits, or else this all would have been snagged a long time ago. I had no reason to leave. No reason to go back to my scorched village. No one was there. So I stood in the old stable. Just me my powerhoof and my dreams. Little did I know that this would be the most boring part of my life.
