Chapter 1 - The Sentence

My body was matted with muddy water, droplets dripping my now dirty disheveled brown fur. What was once my pure stainless white coat was now soiled by this uncouth alleyway, trash bags torn or not strewed along the rows of broken cobblestone.

My breathing was ragged, my mind stirring with confusion, blurs of memories and ideas intermingled as I felt my throat back up with toxic fluids. My body pushed it out and I vomited all the acidic vile insides I once had.

Water pelted my weak, feeble body as I felt my hooves lose some balance; as my body weight shifted to the left, the side of my face smacked intimately with the wall. The action was able to jog me away from my delirious state as my face and, surprisingly, my horn began to go abuzz with pain. Shaking my head I was able to stand straight to think for a moment.
It was then I heard a sort of flutter, I looked to my left and right sides to see- wings?

My mind was reeling in from the rush of motion and emotion. A memory flashed and I held my head in pain.

Stumbling forward, more flashes of pain and memories began to strike me between long intervals, but its insistence grew in intensity and repetition.

My name is- was, Kyle.

'Was' being the important factor as I was turned and stuck with being a pony since-

...Dear god, how long has it been?!

I clenched my teeth as I sucked in the air as more of the migraines hit me harder and faster.

I've been a pony for five years.

And I nearly had it all.

More strikes to my head made my legs weaker than they already were, making me collapse to the cobblestone floor, my head dropping hard to the wet, cold stonework.

Where was I?

For a moment, my mind was calm and still, the pain began to subside, and I could finally think.

My brain felt sober for a moment. "Harmony." My mouth spoke before I could register the very word being uttered; once it was spoken, my eyes grew like saucers, and I held my tongue; I dared not utter another word.

My breathing hitched and I looked around to find any mark or figure to match the name.

My heart was beating fast; letting a sigh of relief, I tried to calm myself.

A booming, ominous feminine voice spoke. "Thorn Vine."

My fears spiked, and as I turned around, it only got worse. It was that damned goody two-shoes Rainbow Blast. That's what I call her since when she began to state her name I straight blasted her with unfiltered dark magic. So the only word she got out was Rainbow.

I added the blast part as I, One, blasted her in the face, and Two, she used some rainbow-themed blast to take vengeance onto me soon after we dabbled into a physical confrontation.

I was THIS CLOSE TO CLAIMING MY WORLD AND THE SUDDEN APPEARANCE OF THE 'HaRmOnY sQuAd' dictated that me being royalty wasn't "set in crystal by harmony," and thus the world was "let astray by the right of the elements of harmony."

My eyes began to stare deep into her magenta eyes that gave no care to my burning hatred of her and the squad of cronies she led to rebel against my coronation.

She sat on her hindlegs against a stood edge, she gripped a scroll with aged paper, she lifted it to her head and as she did so too did her wings. It was only then, when a glint of light shimmered in the moonlight, that I noticed one of them was metal.

"Harmony has settled your punishment. For Imbalancing chaos and order along with multiple crimes against creature kind including pony slavery, black magic sorcery, mass genocide, murder, collusion of mass fraud, starvation camps, mind control, world bending-

I snarled. "If we list all my crimes we'll be here all day." I bared my teeth. "Get with it, you rainbow cunt."

She raised an eyebrow with a clear indifference to the insult. She rolled back the parchment whilst lowering her wings back to her sides. "For your crimes against all beings, she has decreed your punishment to be a life sentence of the protection of Twilight Sparkle in the alternate world four-seven-eight. Your task is to be-"

I could barely believe what I was hearing, I barked out words of anger. "I killed, Twilight Sparkle! The fuck makes you think I'd protect a different version of her!?"

She looked at me with narrowed eyes, "May I continue? Or do you enjoy the sound of your voice so much you need to keep jabbering to interrupt her holiness?"

I scoffed. "Her 'holiness' had no right to interrupt my crowning."

The multicolored woman cleared her throat before going on, "Your task is to keep her alive till the very last breath she takes; her life expectancy will mirror yours; this means that when she dies, so shall you."

My ears swerved to that mention, my eyes widened at the simple line spoken. "Run that by me again?"

Rainbow Blast chuckled. "When she dies, so shall you. Funny how fate works."

I grit my teeth. "This wasn't fate."

She gave a smile, something I had never seen her give during the entire time I had 'met' her, and the impression I got from her was she was a very hard mare to break with that iron-hard and cold mask of emotions. It gave me chills.

"Harmony is fate. She is omnipotent. All-knowing, everything that will ever be and ever was."

I spat my disgust at the sentiment. "Is that what you practice every day in the mirror?"

Rainbow Blast said nothing as her smile melted away into the neutral stare she gave from the moment she set her eyes on me.

"Your sentence begins now. Find the Twilight Sparkle of this world and you may live longer than a year."

My anger began to boil. "And how the fuck am I supposed to find a Sparkle in a random shit-hole I WAS DROPPED INTO WITHOUT WARNING?!"

Rainbow began to spread her wings. "She is trapped within the kingdom of the Crystal Empire; she was taken into one of the 're-education camps' that reside in the northwest section. Get to her, get her out, and protect her life. If she finds her destiny, then Harmony will consider a far more lenient lease." As she moved her wings to gain momentum she spoke once more. "If you can prove that there is still some base of humanity inside your Tartarus damned soul, you can be saved and turned into something better."

I laughed as she began to pick up air in her flaps. "And If I don't turn out to be this saint savior to Harmony?"

"Then you die and are ripped away from an afterlife or reincarnation."

My eyes popped out at the implication.

Rainbow smiled once more, "Go ahead and prove me right." She gave one flap but then paused. "Oh and to minimize your destruction, you will be stripped of magic." She smiled cruelly, "Have fun with that." Her body shined in the same colors that adorned her mane, it vibrated before she skyrocketed out to the skies; a crack opened in the sky, and she flew straight to the mouth of it, consuming her. The fracture closed and slowly disintegrated into the same boring night sky.

I grit my teeth once more before yelling out in unfettered anger. "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" I shouted to the skies with nothing but shattered pride and a thirst for vengeance.

I wasn't going to turn into a stupid prisoner forced to walk the line of probation. I WAS A CONQUERER.

I sieged the walls of Canterlot, slayed the alicorns, and took their power for my own; I BURNED AND RIPPED MY BODY APART ONLY TO PULL IT ALL BACK TOGETHER.

I was going to be the TOTAL RULER OF EQUESTRIA.

ME.

The stallion no one had batted an eye at, I, alone, was the true wielder of the crown.

I snorted and spat mucus onto the dirty cobblestone floor. I was and am, the ruler of everything.

All I have to do is reclaim my crown once more.

I growled.

This was only another staircase to climb to reach the peak. Now that I know of higher beings, of higher monuments to climb, I will gain more power. I will slay the 'Harmony Squad', I will litter the floor of my new throne with their entrails and pike their heads near the seat of my new kingdom. I will break Harmony and make it bend to my will.

It was then that I noticed the rain had stopped running.

Turning my head I noticed a draft picking up, white spots began to fall, the air growing colder.

I cursed under my now obvious smoke of heat.

It was turning winter.
