“Now what?” Lily asks.

Petunia shrugs. “We can’t just leave her here, all by herself. I’d intended to put her on display in the Royal Canterlot Zoo, but that wouldn’t be right. She’s an intelligent being, and even if we can’t understand her, we still need to treat her with respect.”

The others nod. Petunia gestures and eventually Cutesaurus figures out that the pony wants her to follow. Lily grabs some of the rare cycads and ferns so Cutesaurus will have food, and they depart.

Little Strongheart protests as soon as the expedition is within shouting distance, but Petunia explains it should be the dinosaur’s choice. They’re not coercing Cutesaurus, so Little Strongheart drops her objection and leads them back to Appleloosa.

Over the ensuing months and years Cutesaurus adapts to modern society. She fits in surprisingly well, taking up skateboarding and even learning to play piano for a marching band. She’s a quick learner and full of surprises – her tail is prehensile, giving her dexterity that hooves lack.

While she’s eventually able to learn Equestrian and translate her own language for the ponies, her vocal chords don’t allow her to speak the pony language. She communicates via sign language and written words. It’s nice to be around others again, even if she’s the last dinosaur.
