Blackened Box Taping

by Fireflower
A simple flashfic inspired by a past contest: no prize to be claimed as possible; a simple expedition with time so to speak of - failing that, a short story with low expectations and higher inquiries based on its contents in question nevertheless...

The military, by and large, serve as the extension of the state's will beyond its confines, further up on the hierarchy than the police: they're composed of the air force, army, navy, marines, and coast guard, each with their own special set of skills suited to their roles; as such, in times of war, their services, especially in the past, have made them a requirement in defending their nation.

Such is the case for America, a once proud nation, reduced to a shadow of its former self, if not already done so since the 19th century; even with its ideals becoming more universal than ever before, it, along with many other nations have struggled to escape its history: concupiscence, gluttony, avarice, wrath, heresy, violence, deception, and treachery – the products of humanity.

Under no circumstances the wars that have been waged where this cumulation of evil was poured into the earth like water onto grass itself; even into the future of it all, the past itself refuses to die, much less disappear as the people themselves in the present are a product therein: one man in particular stands out and about with so much to say but little time left on the clock, if at that.
