Pinkie Pie bounced through Ponyville, eager as ever to visit Twilight. She hopped through the ponies smiling brightly, but as she was looking around, not bothering to look in front of her, she happened to crash into somepony. Rubbing her head Pinkie moaned, "Oooww..." she opened an eye glancing up to the pony towering above her. The stallion reached his hoove out laughing, "So this is the 'legendary' Pinkie Pie?" He smirked.
Pinkie Pie shot up and bowed, "The one and only!" she beamed. The colt looked at her hyper attitude, raised a brow, and simply walked away without another word. Pinkie tilted her head, "Did I say something?" she whispered. Pinkie Pie bounced after him and said, "Aw that's no fair! You know my name but I didn't catch yours!" she smiled happily. He looked at her and sighed, "I'm afraid you aren't the pony I was expecting to meet Mrs.Pinkie. You need not know my name, for we most likely will not see, or speak to one another again." Pinkie's smile disappeared, "W-what? Why not? I'm a -very- fun pony! I'm friends with every pony in Ponyville." He bowed, "Goodbye Mrs.Pinkie." he walked away from her.
Pinkie watched him leave, then shaked her head, "Aw come on Pinkie! He'll be your friend in no time, everypony loves Pinkie Pie!" Pinkie continued her walk to Twilights. When Pinkie opened the door to Twilight house she found the same colt and Twilight laughing merrily. Twilight wiped a tear from her eye, "Oh, man! You are hilarious!" Twilight looked over at Pinkie Pie and waved. The Stallion, seeing Pinkie was here said, "I think it's best I go, have fun Mrs.Twilight." Pinkie frowned as he walked out of the Library.
Twilight, still laughing, said to Pinkie Pie, "H-hey there! What do you need Pinkie?". Pinkie, still frowning, said,"I just wanted to see a good ol' friend of mine." Pinkie paused, "And who was that Twilight?" Twilight beamed, "Oh that was, Valor Strings, He is hilarious!" Pinkie looked at the floor, "He didn't tell me his name himself..." Twilight said, "Pinkie it's okay. You know every pony in Ponyville, i'm positive he'll be your friend to!" Twilight hugged her friend then said, "I need to get back to work Pinkie, but I heard Apple Jack wanted you." Pinkie Pie shot out the door, ready for something to take her mind off Valor.
Pinkie walked onto Apple Jacks farm smiling, but then she saw Valor. "And then I said, 'Apples? Are you serious?'-" Valor stopped and looked at Pinkie, "Well Mrs.Apple Jack i'm afraid it's time I left." he bowed and pushed past Pinkie Pie. Pinkie shuffled over to Apple Jack, "Hey, Apple Jack, What did you need me for?" she mumbled gloomily. Apple Jack giggled, "Oh! I was going to have you help me load some of these here apples onto Granny Smith's old truck over there. But as you can see, Valor has already helped me with that. Man that Valor is a hoot an' a holler!" Pinkie looked at the truck sadly, "Right I see. Talk to you later Apple Jack." Pinkie walked out of the farm sadly. "Well I could see Rarity! She always loves it when I help with the dresses!" Pinkie galloped with renewed happiness to Rarity's.
Pinkie Pie opened Rarity's front door and said, "I'm here to-" and then saw Rarity was no where to be seen. "Rarity?" Pinkie wandered all over the shop then heard a violin sound coming from Rarity's bedroom. "Oh that was lovely Valor Strings, absolutely lovely!" Pinkie peered around the door frame, and saw Rarity sitting on her bed and Valor standing, holding a violin. Valor replied, "I did play in an orchestra with my time at Filly-Delfia." Rarity's eyes went wide, "Filly-Delfia, -and- Canterlot? You must travel a lot!" Valor Strings nodded, "Yes I have explored almost all of Equestria." Rarity looked at Valor in awe, and Valor just smiled.
Pinkie grumbled, "He doesn't have wings or a flying contraption, I can see Rainbow Dash instead!" Pinkie ran out the door and quickly galloped over to Rainbow's Cloud Castle.
Pinkie Pie galloped into Sugar Cube corner smirking at all the ponies when Spike ran up to her with a mic and asked, "Your not going to host with me?" Pinkie shook her head and said, "Root for me! I'm running the race!" Once the pink pony turned her head she looked directly at Rainbow Dash and Valor Strings spitting comments at each other. Rainbow stood up tall and said, "You'll never win against the fastest Pegasus in all of Equestria!" Valor smirked at her and replied, "Well, even if you use your wings I'll gallop right past you." Through the crowds Pinkie would hear "Ooooooooo," at the Earth pony's challenge.Pinkie glanced over at Rainbow Dash and she had a gleam in her eye.
Pinkie Pie walked over to the fighting ponies and said, "Hey guys! I'm here to race against you guys so you better watch out!" and gave them a playful glare. Rainbow doubled over laughing, "Yeah right!" Valor eyed Pinkie Pie up and down then said, "Sorry, only professionals aloud here." another "Oooooo,"
would run through the crowd and Pinkie would lose her playful grin, just staring at him. Rainbow Dash gave Valor Strings a high-hoof and they would walk off.
Pinkie Pie sits on the ground tears forming in her eyes, "W-What did I do?" Before the tears had time to spill over her cheeks a hoof would wipe away her tears. Pinkie looked up and would see Twilight Sparkle hovering over her with a sympathetic smile, "Go beat Valor Strings, i'm rooting for you Pinkie." Pinkie Pie would stand, "D-Do you think if I won he would accept me like he did Dashie?" Twilight would nod and smile encouragingly at her, "Go get 'em!" Pinkie Pie knew what she had to do now, and galloped up to the starting line. BOOM! Pinkie would hear the sound of the starting of the race and dash ahead of the group as Spike said, "And they're off!"
The pink pony, ran as fast as she could to Rainbow Dash, "Oh please, oh please say Valor hasn't met you yet!" Pinkie thought. Pinkie skidded to a halt and peered up at Rainbow's Could Castle, "Rainbow! Rainbow!" Pinkie Pie yelled, "You there?" Rainbow flew out of her home and landed on the ground beside Pinkie, "Yes, Rainbow Dash, the fastest pony in all of Equestria, is at your service!" Rainbow grinned at Pinkie Pie. "Rainbow Dash, is there anything you want to do?" Rainbow thought a moment, "Well I heard there was a new pony in town and I was looking forward to seeing if he had a pair of wings, so we could race!" Rainbow's eyes light up at the thought of a challenge. Pinkie's eyes got wide, "Ah- No, I mean- Do you want to make Cupcakes? Or we could go prank some pony!" Pinkie said desperately, wanting a friend to be with that wasn't fawning over Valor. Rainbow replied, "Nah, not today Pinkie, I want to be ready if this guy -does- have a set of wings and wants to put them to use!" Rainbow smiled. "See you later Pinkie!" and like that Rainbow was gone.
Pinkie Pie hung her head kicking rocks out of her path, "Why am I the only pony of my friends that Valor Strings doesn't like?" Pinkie beamed, "One left, Flutter Shy!" she ran to Flutter Shy's Cottage as fast as she could. Pinkie Pie crashed through the door with kittens and puppies gathered around her. "Flutter Shy, I brought Mrs.Casts puppies! I know how much you adore playing with them!" Pinkie grinned. Flutter Shy, hiding in the corner scares from Pinkie's surprising arrival said, "Oh that's just wonderful! But I was on my way to watch Rainbow Dash and the new pony in town race." Pinkie's smile faded, "Oh... well i'll just go home then.." Flutter Shy watched Pinkie Pie leave wondering why she was so gloomy.
Pinkie wandered through the streets hearing the buzz of the new pony accepting Rainbow Dashes challenge, but they would race in the annual Running of the Leaves. "No pony has been able to beet Rainbow Dash in the Running of the Leaves!" she heard throughout the town square. "Every pony that wishes to see the Running of the Leaves, report to Sugar Cube Corner!" yelled the mayor. Pinkie shot up and thought, "That's it! I'll join the race and show that nasty old Valor who's fastest pony!" Pinkie Pie grinned for ear to ear and headed on her way to Sugar Cube Corner.
